Searching in the database

hi,
i need a help in the following regard.
We have developed a web portal with oracle 8.1.6 as the database. We want to implement the 'Searching' in our web portal. The searching has to be done in the files and in the database as well.
is there any search engine available for this purpose?
If not available can anyone suggest how to do the search.

If you know the table name, goto SE11 , give the
table name->display,and use the ' find' (ctrl+f) option to search the fields.

and hook to another Mac and use CCC or SuperDuper and clone your HD to another drive.
You could also pull the drive out of your MBP and use an external USB case or SATA - USB dongle to hook it to another Mac.

where exactly in the database does the data of UWLs get stored (table)?
I guess I could figure it out by entering some data into a UWL and then searching in the database, but I have some infrastructural problems here.

How to search data in database which is in mixedcase

Hi,
I have to fetch data from database based on parameter value. The data stored in database is in mixed case. but while passing the parameter its converting it into uppercase. so the database search fails.
E.g Suppose the name in database is 'SANdeep'. On running the program when i pass the value as 'SANdeep' its converting it into "SANDEEP' and searches in the database. But my requirement is it should search as i entered i.e. 'SANdeep' because the data stored in the database is 'SANdeep'.
How to do it.

declare your parameter with Lower case addtion.
parameters p_name like ztab-name lower case.
This way, the system will not convert the parameter into upper case.

If you're trying to do this in a SELECT, you can use the LIKE verb in your WHERE clause.
Here's an Example
SELECT obj_name FROM tadir
    INTO prog
    WHERE pgmid = 'R3TR'
      AND object = 'PROG'
      AND obj_name LIKE 'Z%'.
In this case it will select every row that obj_name starts with Z.
If you wanted to find every row that the field obj_name contains say... 'WIN' you use LIKE '%WIN%'.

How do I create a product or item database so I can search for the product and its files with the products name or four digit code

Ok so I made some progress on this. I have figured out, that I can add a chained "add to cart" to certain items, then when they click the button for Buy now, it will add both items to the cart. However, this would require me to manually build each product page and generate a custom button for each one with both product IDs in it.
Can anyone offer help on how to put some JS in that would append a second function to the onclick function that BC Generates dynamically?
For the products that require a set up fee, I would assume I would add in to either the product templates or in to the item description some JS that would find the onclick of the buynow button and append a second function to also add to cart the setup fee product. The end result being code that looks like this:

Searching access database then minimizing and reopening (or, more generally, changing the focus window then going back) causes the database field to become active

So I'm having this problem in Access 2010 & 2013 (I tested it in both) where if I search for something on the bottom of a table (next to where it says the record number), then pull down access and subsequently reopen it, if I were to start typing it
would start typing in the record that the search had found. This has caused me to have some errors in my database which have been proving troublesome and difficult to fix.
If you could tell me how I could resolve this problem, I would greatly appreciate it!
EDIT: I tested some other cases and am having the same issue. If I, instead of minimizing, change the focus away from Access to another program and then move my focus back to Access, the problem appears there as well. In fact, even if I change to another
window in the same instance of Access (say another table) then change back the focus, the problem still appears

Thanks for the response. I'm going to include some images and share a sample database with you. This is all being done in 2010 on Windows 7 currently, but is reproducible on 2013. I don't have access to Windows 8 to try it myself.
Step 1: Open up table by double clicking on it

Note that where I'm searching is different than where you're searching. I think that's why you couldn't reproduce it. Search for something (in what I'm sharing, something like alpha or 11 or ga or something)
Step 3: Minimize the Access and pull it back up (or change focus away and back in some way or another)
Step 4: Type into what should be the search box. Instead, it types into the field that the search found.

Closing the database connection after report in a server application

I searched these forums and the internet for a definitive answer on asking the Crystal SDK for java to close the jdbc connection after it has generated a report. We have been using the Crystal Report SDK to generate reports within our JEE application, built upon the Spring framework, for the past two years. It works well, especially if you prepare views in the database for your reports.
From what I can tell once you have used ReportClientDocument to create your report you all the close() method to release resources associated with report generation, but this does not close the jdbc database connection.
Further research states that if you are using the CrystalReportViewer you can call the dispose method to close the database connection. We are not using JSP nor this class, so that does us little good.
Finally I found a post that one could call ((AdvancedReportDocument)reportClientDocument.getReportSource()).dispose(). This doesn't drop the connection either.
Each report actually opens 3 connections according to SQL Server. Each report will reuse the connections it has open, so for 50 reports, theoretically, we could have up to 150 connections. We explained to our client those connections remain inactive, however this is unacceptable to our client as they would like to minimize the number of connections left open to their database.
If anyone can post any further information on this issue, it is much appreciated.

Yes, another team member found the issue. Quite embarrassing really I didn't see it. I was looking for the answer within Crystal's libraries. It had nothing to do with Crystal.
The developer who wrote the helper code for using Crystal first opened a connection to the datasource for the live production database and read that connection information for the report. Next he set that connection information in the report template's PropertyBag, then ran the report. The developer however forgot to close the connection he used to look up the connection info, leaving a memory leak and using up all the connections.

How to populate data in MPP through F4 search help(the field should get filtered as per key)

I am new to ABAP and hence trying jmy hands on various ways of peforming a task.
I have a requirement. I want to maintain a database tables through MPP : ZLT_Auftrag (Refer Screen Shot 1: Doubt MPP1) and ZLT_Kunde (Refer Screen Shot2: Doubt MPP2)
The fields of ZLT_Kunde are: K1, K2, K3
The fields of ZLT_Auftrag are: A1, A2, A3, A4, P1 P2 and P3 are related as per the key field "A3"   (Here A3 = K2)
I want the User to be able to Maintain this table through the Screen that I had created using MPP. (Plz refer the attached Screen Shot3:Doubt MPP3 of the SCREEN in MPP)
When I populate the Kunde name(K1) in the SCREEN (Can be done by F4 Search help), then on hitting the pushbutton "Get Kunde" the kunde Code (K2) appears . Now from here it can be deleted or even a new Kunde name and code can be saved dirctly to the database table : ZLT_Kunde. (Refer Screen Shoot4: Doubt MPP4)
For Example for Kunde (K1)= BASF, Kunde Code (K2) = BSF, the Auftrag should be all those values from ZLT_Auftrag (where A3 = BSF)
When I try to populate the Auftrag value on the SCREEN then on hitting F4 (already created for table ZLT_Auftrag in se11) then I get all the values of Auftrag (A1) from the table ZLT_Auftrag. (Ply refer Screen Shot 5: Doubt MPP5)
MY REQUIREMENT: Here I want that either through F4 help or through drop down ONLY those values of Auftrag-A1 should appear on the SCREEN which satisfies the condition: A3 = K2
I am unbale to get how to do that.

but the problem is when we are inserting the new record after click to save the record first saves the data in the Db and then it appears on the grid.

first it comes to the grid and then after click to save it save to the database.

Add data to the table in the database with the use of add button

The name of my database is Socrates.
The name of the table in the database is Employees
I want to be able to add data to the database. i am presently working on the add button such that when i enter date into the textfield and press the add button it should automatically register in the table.
The error upon compilation is with this line of code

"Table VSEOPARENT is not in the database" after SolMan system copy to x64

Hi SDNners,
We've just completed a system copy of our SolMan 3.1 system onto a new
(Xeon x64 based) server. This system copy is part of the process of
moving SolMan 3.1 from an old server onto 64bit hardware and then
upgrading it to SolMan v4 and Oracle 10G.
Although the system appears to start properly in the MMC, we are unable
to log into the system through SAPGUI - we get a SYNTAX_ERROR window
instead of a logon screen.
I've checked the SysLog from within the MMC and noticed a number of
errors stating:
Database: Table VSEOPARENT is not in the database
Database: Table VSEOIFIMPL is not in the database
Database: Table VSEOIFCOMP is not in the database
I tried running SQL command 'select * from "SAPSOL"."VSEOPARENT"; and
it confirmed that the table didn't exist. I then ran the same command
on the source SolMan system and it showed that VSEOPARENT DID exist. I
don't understand how these VSEO* tables could have gone missing between
the source and target systems.
I've searched OSS for VSEO* and cannot find anything. Please help!

We have 640 kernel, ECC 5.0 and BASIS patch 23.
For me the problem was with SAPVIEW table wasnt imported from source to target becuase SAPVIEW.STR file was 0 byte. STR files gets created in export preparation phase.
It did happen because on source side master DVD, there was no option for export preparation. I had only option for tablesplit and export db.
I did use ECC 5.0 SR2 Master DVD which had option for export preparation phase and that created SAPVIEW.STR file.
Using migration monitor I did re-export and re-import and this time all views are imported in target.

how exactly did you copy the database to the new server?
the tables you stated are an essential part of the ABAP runtime environment, so the syntax error is surely because of these tables are missing.
