Second Screen Keeps getting Lost

This week (Since the last update) every time my iMac goes to screen saver or sleep and is woken up it cannot regonise the the second monitor anymore. Setting it to the smallest res and losing background settings. This is making it impossible to use my second monitor as the only way to get it to see it is to restart. Unplugging it makes it unable to even see the screen when its plugged back in most of the time.
Any help would be great.

My monitor also needs constant auto adjustment as it forgets its position and leads to parts leaving the screen. This never used to happen, being only adjusted once every year or so...

Sounds like your logic board. Software troubleshooting steps after hard reset is restore. If that doesn't work it needs to be repaired.

Nano screen keeps getting scratched through the ipod sock!!!!!

my nano is so scratched up from my pockey. i have kept the nano in my iPod sock, yet keeps getting scratched. i have had it since my birthday 12/16. the fromnt and back are all scratched up. is there anyway to get a new body or maybe get a whole new system? the screen is blurry because of the scratches!!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

It sounds like you may have the Zoom accessibility feature turned on. I suggest going into settings and make sure this feature is turned off because it sounds like you may be activating it on accident.

Second screen keeps 'refreshing' at a more frequent rate, now..?

I have my main monitor (HP) running off the mini DVI port and a second monitor running off the mini VGA which is connected to an HDTV. My mini VGA adapter always refreshed periodically with a quick flicker. But recently, the refresh rate increased and lingers for about 2-3 seconds also the screen becomes off center which it didn't do before. I tried changing the wallpaper to something with more color so the edges are more defined, I've found that images with black areas sometimes confuses the TV's auto centering feature [or whatever it's called]. But now I don't know what the solution is. Could it be the adaptor is going bad or is it a system issue?

I keep getting lost in this,,,

i am not in a great situation right now... despite the fact that i had believed that my home was stable, apparently my room-mate had different ideas, and has really (don't want to be rude, so i'll just say censored) me - but i've managed to pull the pieces together (much to his surprise) and am in fact i a way better position for this upcoming move than he is.
but... to my issue. i have (or had... i have disconnected the whole thing) Airport Network in this place - had my share of problems with it, but overall it's working okay now for what i wanted it to do. but with the change in status in our friendship, i want to make some changes to the access levels of my network.
it may seem petty of me, but if since he felt no conscience about pulling the rug out from under me with just two weeks notice, i don't feel bad about what i'm doing. i have disconnected the internet from my Airport Network, and am accessing it directly on my own - just to make his life here a bit more difficult. afterall, if he can leave me in a scramble, why should i let him use my internet connection...
but to the point. while i have disconnected the internet, i do still want to use both my USB printer and AirTunes.
is there a way i can have my Airport Extreme still control my Printer, connect to the Express which is connected to my stereo, without either of them being connected to the internet? any time i try to set this up, i get errors, and Airport Admin will say it cannot read the settings of one or the other. And of course, (for anyone who has seen my other posts re: the Express in particular) the Express has once again entered into its (apparent) default mode of flashing amber combined with its petulant I Will Not Reset, No How, No Way!! mode. Sigh...
I am planning on picking up the new base station after it is released, but will be making my move first, and would like to have my network set up in the new place when i get there.
any ideas? or have i just gotten too convoluted for my own good?

you know, i can see in the manuals, etc... how this should work. but getting these two Airports to cooperate is another matter. once again, i cannot get either one of them to reset to factory settings... i do want to start them fresh, but following the instructions, even with them attached to the book directly via ethernet. the extreme just will not reset at all, and keeps coming back up with the same settings as before. if i try to use Airport Admin to change the configuaration, it delivers an error message that it can't read the configurations setting.
the express on the other hand... at one point last night i thought i had actually managed to do what i wanted with it, and that it had taken the factory reset. at that point, i had decided to set them both up as individual networks rather than try to join them together - but once the Express as detached from the book, and set up by the stereo, it went back to the flashing Amber light and will not communicate with the MacBook.
for now i am thinking of packing them both up until after the move. once i know where i am going, etc... and have moved myself, i will be better able to concentrate on what i am doing, and will hopefully be able to get it working again at the new place.

Sync options keep getting lost

Every since the new update for iTunes 11.0.1 in Windows, iTunes will not remember to "Manually Manage" for any of the 3 ipods that we have. This happens when you disconnect your ipod, but it also happens in the middle of selecting options for your ipod sync while it is still plugged in! If you select the "Manually Manage" option and then apply, then you have to go to songs and reselect those after hitting apply on that page you cannot move to select audiobooks or the "Manually Manage" option will be deselected and you cannot get both songs and audiobooks on your ipod. VERY Frustrating!
Can this be fixed or can I revert to the previous version?

Sounds like you sync your phone between two different computers? If this is the case, the options unchecking themselves seems to be an intentional thing by Apple, I'm thinking to prevent an accidental "oops" overwrite of information if auto-sync is active.
You can choose the "merge" option and everything on your phone (contacts and calendars, but NOT music) will be merged with everything on your computer - this is, everything will end up in both places.
You can only sync music with one computer, however, so make sure you keep the music options unchecked on the computer you don't sync music with.

Funny thing is that after upgrading to 10.4.8 it took two days for the WPA account to start misbehaving and another 4 days till the WPA2 one started dropping. Deleting completely and re-adding them fixed it both times.

Account Information Keeps Getting Lost After it is Saved

At my office computer we have an iTunes account that is to be used at our office as well as a couple places around the world. We have entered in all of our credit card and billing information and yet, after we sign out and sign back in, when we try to purchase a song and put in our login and password, we are taken to an account verification page that, even if we verify, does not allow us to purchase a song. We have reset iTunes and re-entered the credit card information fully. What could be the cause of this. The work computer I use does use Vista. Any thoughts are appreciated.

My preferences keep getting lost

Every few days, my Fireworks and InDesign preferences reset themselves back to the defaults - and I have to set them all again. Can anyone help?

You may need to free up lots of hard drive space.
At a minimum, at least, 15 to 20 GBs of space.
Perhaps even more.
Hard drive full or near full:
You are going to have to delete, move or archive your data to regain hard drive space.
Have you emptied your iMac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto, iPhoto has its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Other things you can do to gain space.
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive older emails you want to save.
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Uninstall apps that you no longer use. If the app has a dedicated uninstaller, use it to completely uninstall the app. If the app has no uninstaller, then just drag it to the OS X Trash icon and empty the Trash.
Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
When you install and launch it, let it do its thing initially, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run all of the processes in the tabs. Let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be moved, also, to the external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.
You may have to Purchase an external FireWire or Thunderbolt hard drive to move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.

Using Firefox 4, on ebay keep getting Kelkoo shopper report taking up left hand side of the screen

this is annoying, the left hand section of the screen keeps getting this Kelkoo report, I cancel it and it's back within seconds

I'd suggest you call the Apple Tech Support line and ask to speak to Customer Relations. It'll take a little effort on your part to get to them, but insist. Go through your story with them and I think you'll get a resolution, possibly a new machine.

Bug: when you have two or more reminder pop-ups on BB10, you can't edit 2 or more of them because the second and beyond are lost...

I notice that when you have two or more reminder pop-ups on BB10 (tasks, calendar, etc.), you can't edit 2 or more of these because the second and beyond get lost and will never pop-up again.

To better understand your issue, for example If you have two reminders and select 'View Event Details' on the 1st reminder, does the 2st reminder popup before the Details of the1st reminder displays?

Maybe you need to Tap the Calendar Button in the upper left corner of the calendar app and select a calendar in which to add the event.
Do you have. + sign in the lower right corner of the App? If not go to Settings>iCloud>Calendar>On. If you want to sync the calendar with iCloud, leave it set to on. If not, then set it to Off.
Or try this of those suggestions don't work.
Close all app scompletely and reboot the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Help!! What's going wrong here. I used to have iTunes installed on this computer but lost it when it crashed. I've tried re-installing it numerous times but I keep getting the same error message. "Error writing to file: C:\ProgramFiles\iTunes.Resources\es.lproj\iPadLicense.rtf. Verify that you have access to that directory." I know I have access to that directory because on a different computer I can sync my iPad and iPhone. What am I doing wrong? What do I need to go in and authorize or turn on? That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?
