Security - Sensitive records

I am currently at a customer site we are in the design phase of a large Order Transformation Programme. One of the requirements is around sensitive records. The customer would want only a certain category of users within Siebel to be able to view certain sensitive records (For example certain special case Contacts) in database, also they would not want any DBA, operators, admin personals to have access to these records? The one of the options we have available (strong candidate) is to use Data Vault, other options are Label Security and Virtual Private DB:
Q) What is the bst solution for this?
Q) Do you know of any other customer who had similar requirements and decided to use Oracle data Vault etc..?
Q) Do you have any Oracle Data Vault / Siebel specific documents (white papers) that you could share with me?
Thanks,
Nitin

As far as i knw, OFTB we dont get this option.
probably you need to manipulate the value in attribute and while displaying you have to mask it. (duplicate original value before masking it in reference attribute)
though not so great, bt this is the work around I could see as of now.
If i find somethng more relevant, would share sooon.

  • Servlet error: Security sensitive exception occured. , where is log files?

thank you for reading my post
i get this message , where should i look for log files ?
Servlet error: Security sensitive exception occured. Please consult application log for details.

I ran into this just myself last week.
We used to show the Exception type and a stacktrace in the browser as the default error message.
In 10.1.3.1 we've modified it so that the details of the application (ie the stack trace and exception) are output by default.
Avi indicated the correct log file to look at.
If you do want to revert to the old behaviour for development time, then you can do so by setting the attribute development="true" in the orion-web.xml file of the deployed application.
    <orion-web-app .... development="true"/>

  • How to secure video recording?

I have a ColdFusion app server connecting to a separate FMS
server (both different machines). To get to the code that displays
the object/embed tags to show the SWF to record, one has to enter
their username/password. However, essentially, after one has done
that, they can grab the object/embed tags with the Flash arguments,
and paste that elsewhere to record.
They can essentially grab that code once they're logged in,
make an HTML page with that code, and start recording away. How can
    we secure this? Many thanks!!

  • How can I view and convert .264 files from my security cameras for use on my Mac and the web?

My security cams record in a .264 file format HD.  I want to view, edit, etc on my Mac, what software will do that and are there any easy tips to do this?  I'm new to Mac's so I'm not sure what is the best format to convert to?  mp4?  Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.  I do love the Mac so far.

I have downloaded the trail....and it won't recognize my .264 files....not sure what the deal is?  Here is a screen shot-they files are "grayed" out....and won't highlight.  Do you see anything wrong?  I'm pulling the files off of a Lorex DVR security system.  LHD200

  • Case sensitive and case insensitive Search

    Hi friends,
Iam doing an Search RFC which will search records based on the search parameters provided at the portal side.
One of the search parameter is a field with 40 character which holds the description(title) of the record.
With this search paramter iam facing case sensitive problem.
    Example:
Values in Database Table: ( Can be in any case)
           Record 1:  Sensitive
           Record 2:  SENSITIVE
           Record 3:  SensTive
           Record 4:  sensitive
           Record 5:  sensTive
         Input to RFC:  sens*
Output: Getting only 4rth and 5th record but not all the records.
The same is the case with the remaining search parameters(Like user name..).
Is there any way of getting all the records when searching from the data base (with case insensitive).
Kindly let me know if there is any possibility.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Swarna Munukoti.

Generally, no.  So, you'll either have to use EXEC SQL, or add more fields to the table.  You can do this using APPEND structures, which is the SAP approved way of adding fields.  If there are suitable user exits in the standard SAP code, then you'll be able to populate the additional fields there, as new records are created, or amended.
Alternatively, create your own Z table with the same key as the standard table and a "search field" which contains the uppercase version of the field you're wanting to search.  You can either, again populate in suitable user exits, or, in worst case, have job that runs regularly populating your Z table.

  • Using the Security Manager to restrict access to a single package

After reading up on the Security Manager, the package.access property and the use of the [accessClassInPackage RuntimePermission|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/security/permissions.html#RuntimePermission] , it seemed to me that it would possible to set up the following: I have a security-sensitive code base packaged in a jar, and I want to make sure that only one client code base that I specify is permitted to access it. The idea here is to prevent malicious code from executing anything in the sensitive code base; the sensitive code is only accessible to one client that I name in a security policy file. Perhaps rather foolishly, I advised a client to consider this before testing out a sample myself, because much to my surprise, it appears to me that it isn't possible to get the Security Manager to do this at all. Am I missing something? I'm a bit startled by this conclusion -- it seems like such an obvious use for the Security Manager, I'm hard-pressed to be believe that it can't be done, and more inclined to suspect that I'm going about it wrong.
Here's what I thought I could do: set up the package.access property so that it denies access to any package; then in the policy file, grant the RuntimePermission/accessClassInPackage to the client code base that is permitted to access the sensitive code.
Of course, you wouldn't want the package.access property to exclude all packages in the global java.security file, because then no code could be accessed at all. It would be necessary to use the trick of resetting the package.access property within the code, as [illustrated in the secure coding guidelines|http://java.sun.com/security/seccodeguide.html#1-1a] .
But the problem lies in the idea of "use the package.access property to deny access to +any+ package". There doesn't seem to be any way to use wildcards or the like with the property -- it has to specifically name packages (or package prefixes) to which access is forbidden. It wouldn't do to try to name the packages to which I'm trying to prevent access, since we're trying to prevent access from malicious code -- the attacker could just choose package names that aren't on the list. I'd really need to say that access is denied to all packages, except for those in the permitted code base, but the security mechanisms for package access don't seem to allow that.
Moreover, the trick of changing the value of package.access can't be done within the client code -- otherwise, the attacker client would just set the property to his own purposes. But it can't really be done within the sensitive package either, because the whole idea is to prevent access to that package, and by the time it's busy setting the property, it's already too late, because the package has to have been accessed by a client to get there at all.
It seems to me that this a symptom of something I've never really understood about the design of the Security Manager -- you can grant permissions to specific code bases, but you can't revoke permissions from specific code bases, let alone all code bases. What I want to do here is grant access permission to one specific code base and revoke it from all others. There doesn't seem to be any way to express that with the mechanisms of the Security Manager.
The more I look at it, the more it seems that there's just no way to use the Security Manager this way -- set up package access so that a specific code base can only be accessed by one specific client code base. There are surely other ways to get the effect that I'm looking for, but as far as I can tell, none of them involve restricting package access (for example: define a custom permission, grant it only to the permitted client. and check against that permission within the sensitive code base; meaning that the sensitive code has to be accessible to anyone in the first place). This conclusion really surprises me (not to mention my bit of embarrassment with the client); wouldn't this be precisely the sort of thing the Security Manager ought to be good for?

You're looking at this back to front. The security policy file is there for the client to decide how much access he is going to give this application, not for to application to restrict who can use it. If you want to control what used to be called 'state orientation' you can do that directly by looking down the stack trace inside your code.

  • Security aspects of PHP

What are the security aspects of using PHP with SAP; compared to either "in-house" technologies like BSP or Web Dynpro, or using a J2EE-based environment, based on Java? The biggest drawback of PHP seems to be in the security-related area. How does this open source technology mix with highly secured, sensitive-information SAP installations?
    Trond

Don't think of it as PHP security, Just think of it as security, and what you want to implement, and what you have available.
    1) Use Active Drirectory and place people in groups which can perform cerain tasks. using the LDAP class in PHP you can enforce those groups.
    2) Prompt users for security information which is sent to SAP. SAP will enforce what the user can or can't do. PHP will be the broker
    3) Develop a local secuirty system within php, perhaps using  something along the lines of http://phpgacl.sourceforge.net/
    4) You could even setup a SecurID security system and implement it with your application.
Many choices are available, all with plus and minus aspects.

  • Class Loading Security Restrictions

    Hi,
Does WebLogic Server have any feature through which application code "may not" get access to BEA system classes (like classes in weblogic.jar or any security sensitive classes) ? As I understand, any application user can walk their way to BEA internal classes through classloading heirarchy or reflection ?
    Thanks,
    Krish

    Hi Krish,
Welcome to the world of Java, where nothing is ever really inaccessible. In answer to you question, some of the functionality in terms of security is marked as private or protected internally to protect the functionality from other Java classes and inheritence, but not the ones you'd expect. The security around the Licensing classes is a substantial step above those that exist around actual authentication providers and encryption services.
To be fair though, using tools like WLST/Jython renders all internal functionality protection moot anyway, as Jython will happily run methods and classes that are scoped as private. This is a particular problem with WebLogic internal credential encryption.

  • Record same DV source on 2 computers at once

First, I'm not sure if the FCP forum is the place to ask, but I will be using FCP to do this so I am hoping someone else has maybe tried it. Is it possible to 'split' a DV camera's video to go to 2 different computers at once? I need to capture live video from the same camera on 2 computers simultaneously. I found a product (Laird something) that will do this, but I can't spend the $720 that it goes for. Is there anything else out there? Thanks

I need to capture live video from the same camera on 2 computers simultaneously.
I found a product (Laird something) that will do this, but I can't spend the $720
that it goes for. Is there anything else out there? Thanks < </div>
You probably know our usual response: When attempting to record directly from camera to disk, anything that can go wrong will go wrong. There is nothing more secure than recording to tape.
You have said that you can't spend $800 to get a reliable tool that will do the job but you are willing to risk not getting the video at all by attempting to record to disk?
Doesn't matter, not my problem, I wish you best of luck. There are Firewire hubs, distribution amps, and repeaters on the market. Don't be confused by the apparently subtle differences; they do completely different things. You want a d.a.. The FW hub only allows more devices to share the bus, it won't allow the video signal to go to more than one device. Umm, let me rephrase that, the FW hubs I have in my shop do not distribute multiple copies of the same data. Repeaters are used to resend a FW signal long distances. There may be new tools on the market since I looked.

  • JME Security - Tokens

I have few doubts concerning JME security on devices connecting to Tomcat server.
My app connects to Java Servlet via HTTPS, user is prompted for user name and password
and everything works just fine but I have several doubts for security of this connection.
I've noticed that lot of other apps use tokens , which I know nothing about, for example.....
when user  starts the app for the first time
he is prompted to enter pin and the next time he is prompted for the same pin again.
+.He can change it later. If he fails to connect for three times token disables the app.+.
This all sounds super but I couldn't find anything regarding this problem of tokens in books or internet so if
anyone could share anything I that I could use I would be very grateful!!

  • Any one used ADF+BC+JDEV with other databases like MySQL

    Hi
Thank you for reading my post
    i used Jdeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 and OC4J standalone 10.1.3.1.0
it looks like that BC+ADF faces just works fine with ORACLE database because two days i stocked with running JDEV+BC+ADF faces with a mysql or Derby databse.
I tried with both embeded oc4j and i copy the mysql jdbc driver and also derby jdbc driver to
    j2ee/home/lib
    j2ee/home/alib
so there should be no problem as far as i worked with other apps.
then i create a library for each of those drivers in Jdeveloper to be able to create BC from tables.
I create a war deployment profile to be able to deploy the application to StanAlone OC4j
All i get when i tried to run the jsf file with embeded OC4J is like :

and all i get when i tried to run it with standalone OC4J is :
    500 Internal Server Error
Servlet error: Security sensitive exception occured. Please consult application log for details. for standalone OC4J i enter the administration console and test the connection pool that IDE created during deployment and it was ok when i test the connection pool / datasource.
so , What is the problem ? can please some one help me on this ?
I tried the same scenario with ORACLE 10G and it works fine.
    so my questions are :
1-does OC4J 10.1.3.1.0 has problem with none oracle databases?
2-does BC that come with Jdev has problem with none oracle database ?
3-am i wrong in one of my steps ?
please some one give me some hints

OK, thanks to Peter Hanusiak, and Oracle Consulting consultant in Slovakia, I have resolved my issue and I'm hoping that the same solution may apply for you. See below for the instructions from Peter that helped me out. Note that since our applications are different, the specific libraries and locations that you need to confirm compatibility for may be different.
    Hope this helps,
    Dave
I had similar problem. And in my case it was caused by different ADF from JDev and SOA Suite and SOA order booking demo.
Because I can't test it now, I'll tell just what I remember.
In SOADEMO is somewhere folder SOADEMO-CLIENT\UserInterface\public_html\WEB-INF\lib
    where you can find
    adf-faces-impl.jar
    jsf-impl.jar
Try to find exactly the same libs in Jdev and copy&paste from Jdev to SOADEMO folder. then find the libs in SOASuite, and copy&paste from Jdev to SOA Suite those libs. Restart SOA Suite. Deploy Soademo-Client. And hopefully it will work.

  • Cell phone pay as you go - need advice

Yikes... my head is spinning...I have seen so many phones the past few days ( and reviews etc ) on internet sites... I am totally lost.
had a cell phone years ago when motorola made them first.. traxar or something ?? was expensive ( $800 ? ).. and had monthly ATT service unlimited ( also expensive ).
that was during 1st season of " sopranos ".. long time ago.
since then I've just had a land line...with fios... internet and tv included.
now I need a cell phone again due to move to MN from NY. I have no clue how long it will take to get internet out there etc... in new apartment.
my computers will get set up right away when I get there..and one has a wi fi card installed ...so if I can find wi fi thats not passwrd protected .... I could maybe use it ...for internet. BUT ( this is a big BUT ) some stuff I do ( banking etc ) on internet is security sensitive to ME.... and I dont want to get virus through some network or have my security breached.
SOOOOO ... question is... can I get a pay as you go phone that also has features for basic email ( in and out ) and also a browser like firefox so I can do banking etc ???
ORRRRR should I just get a simple phone with no other services.... and then use whatever I can find in MN until I get my stuff hooked up....( like library computer or something ).
I am so confused by all the choices and different model phones etc... my head is spinning !!!

    Chuck,
    ============
Will you be working in the TV/film industry in Minnesota?
    =============
I dont think so. My first reaction to this question was : I would rather have a sharp stick in my eye.
But giving it more thought, I realize unless I find some staff position with a producer where I actually add value to the enterprise I would rather not work freelance ( per diem ) anymore. I need more than that now, but also less. I need less " money" but I need more re: my contribution.. even if it's simply helping others do what they want.
I have a feeling MN is not going to be full of opportunities to do that in the film and tv biz ( or tv commercials, industrials etc ) whether on shoot crews, construction, rigging, production, editing, sound, etc.  It may be that fishing is the main activity out there... as there are a lot of lakes where I'm going. They must have fish in them ?  It's weird but somehow " fishes " seems to be beckoning me to some new life out of the city etc.  First it was trout. Now its trout again... plus even MORE fish types... who knows.. I have no clue about fish.
For example, what do fish actually DO ?  They are doing stuff under water and its hard to see them and what they actually DO all day long etc. To me its a mystery.
Anyway, I am now having internet, phone and TV service installed at new apartment before I get there...made the arrangements this morning.... and the need for a cell phone etc has been greatly reduced... I might not get anything at all now for the actual " drive " out there.
Will see what my money situation is in next week or so... might get cell phone but not the internet and email stuff just for the drive.  Every penny counts when moving and leaving the biz you've done for the last 30 plus years etc.
