Seeing database activity in real time.

Hi all,
Just a small question about the monitoring that Oracle provides.
I know that dba_tab_modifications provides information about
the following
SQL> desc DBA_TAB_MODIFICATIONS;
Name Type
TABLE_OWNER VARCHAR2(30)
TABLE_NAME VARCHAR2(30)
PARTITION_NAME VARCHAR2(30)
SUBPARTITION_NAME VARCHAR2(30)
INSERTS NUMBER
UPDATES NUMBER
DELETES NUMBER
TIMESTAMP DATE
TRUNCATED VARCHAR2(3)But what I would like to know is,
a) is there any way of telling the number of selects against a table?
and
b) the amounts of blocks inserted/updated/modified and/or even selected.
The number gives a clue, but I think that the information could be
tied in better with the number of blocks - anybody agree? Plus, the
number of selects could be critical for OLAP apps, and/or OLTP
systems which are being hammered by (selfish) managers who
demand reports no matter what the impact on end-users (i.e.
the poor drones who enter all the data) is.
Any ideas, URL's, suggestions or whatever appreciated.
Rgs,
Paul...

I've found the pretty pictures in EM on the performance screens are real good for displaying hammers. It can be a real eye-opener as the big 'uns are not always what you expect, and not always the bottleneck you expect. The downside is the reaction may not be what you desire either (ie, throw more hardware at it!).

  • How to identify that my physical standby database in use real time apply?

    Hi,
Can any one give me the SQL to identifiy that my physical standby database is in real time applying redo logs?
    Its urgen please....
    Thanks.

You could just look at the alert log. Look for "Recovery of Online Redo Log"
Or you could select from v$standby_apply_snapshot to see if the standby is up-to-date.
    select thread#, to_char(snapshot_time,'dd-mon-yyyy:hh24:mi'),
    to_char(applied_time,'dd-mon-yyyy:hh24:mi'),
    to_char(newest_time,'dd-mon-yyyy:hh24:mi') from V$STANDBY_APPLY_SNAPSHOT;

    Hello
I have a VeriStand-Project (VSP) created with my Laptop-Host (LTH) which works with my PXI, while
deploying it from my LTH. Then I have installed the whole NI enviroment for PXI and VeriStand use on a

The software versions of the NI products (MAX/My System/Software) between my LTH and the iPC are
almost the same. The only differences are:
    1. LabView Run-Time 2009 SP1 (64-bit); is installed on LTH but missing on iPC. The iPC has a 32-bit system.
    2. LabView Run-Time 2012 f3; is installed on LTH but missing on iPC.
    3. NI-DAQmx ADE Support 9.3.5; something strage on the LTH, because normally I am using NI-DAQmx 9.5.5 and all other DAQmx products on my LTH are 9.5.5. That means NI-DAQmx Device Driver 9.5.5 and NI-DAQmx Configuration 9.5.5.. On the iPC side all three products are 9.5.5.. That means NI-DAQmx ADE Support 9.5.5, NI-DAQmx Device Driver 9.5.5 and NI-DAQmx Configuration 9.5.5..
    4. Traditional NI-DAQ 7.4.4; The iPC has this SW installed. On the LTH this SW is missing.
In order to fix this problem I have formatted my PXI and I have installed the following SW from the iPC:
    1. LabVIEW Real-Time 11.0.1
    2. NI-488.2 RT 3.0.0
    3. NI_CAN 2.7.3
Unfortunately the above stated problem still arose.
What can I do to fix this problem?
    I found a hint on http://www.labviewforum.de/Thread-XNET-CAN-die-ersten-Gehversuche.
There it is written to deploy the dbc file againt.
If this is a good hint, so how do I deploy a dbc file?
I would feel very pleased if somebody could help me! :-)
    Best regards
    Lukas Nowak

    Hi Lukas,
I think the problem is caused by differenet drivers for the CAN communication.
NI provides two driver for CAN: NI-CAN and NI-XNET.
NI-CAN is the outdated driver which is not longer used by new hardware. NI replaced the NI-CAN driver with NI-XNET some years ago, which supports CAN, LIN and the FLEXRAY communication protocol.
    You wrote:

    3. NI_CAN 2.7.3
NI CAN is the outdated driver. I think that you should try to install NI-XNET instead of NI-CAN on your PXI-System, to get rid of the error message.

  • Real-time database or non real-time database

I know the scheduling mechanism in Oracle database is somewhat like the Linux OS which is not real-time. Does Oracle provide real-time database which has some real-time scheduling guaranteeing each user transaction to meet with a deadline ? Thx a lot.

The Berkley DB that Oracle owns has been ported to QNX which is a real-time operating system.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/ref/build_unix/qnx.html
Why, out of curiosity, are you looking into Oracle for a real-time system? That implies that you're running a real-time operating system on your servers, which is certainly unusual. I've heard of some ports of 9i to real-time operating systems, but that would certainly be unusual.

  • Any good Power Shell command or script to see connected users in real time for Lync 2013

Are there any good Power Shell commands or scripts that can tell you how many users are connected to a pool in real time so you can evaluate the current load. I have 3 FE servers in a single pool. We just started deploying the lync client to the users and
were curious as to how many are actually connected. I saw a number of home made scripts but really didn't care for any of them. I just want to find out how many users that are actually connected to the pool at a particular moment so we can see how many users
    are really using the product.

Have you looked at Pat Richard's get-csconnections script?: http://www.ehloworld.com/269

  • Help a newbie: drawing shapes (but seeing it drawn in 'real' time)

    Hi guys,
I'm a complete Java newbie, but I'm learning it for my senior project in physics that deals with strong field laser physics modeling. My question actually doesn't pertain to any of that though.
I have a little applet that just draws a snowman, but my friend (who's a really good girl friend of mine) would like to see the shapes being drawn, like appearing from nothing, then being created as the applet runs. Does that make sense? I have no idea how to make something 'trace' or create or cirlce a rectangle slowly. Any help would be appreciative. Thank you.
    Adam

Make it run slower, by putting about a jillion other threads continuously factoring random odd integers ;)
Or re-write the line/circle drawing routines and put a pause between various steps.
Another possible option is taking off the buffer, but this may still be too fast with a lot of flickering.
Or just tell her you've got better things to worry about than lines drawing themselves slowly...

  • Enabling the Active Dataguard and Real Time Apply

    11.2.0.2 on AIX
I gather that , to enable Active Dataguard, you need to execute
    STARTUP ; ----not startup mount
ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE USING CURRENT LOGFILE DISCONNECT;The above commands will enable both Active Dataguard (Real Time QUERY) and Real Time Apply. Right?
To enable just 'Real Time Apply' , I need to

ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE USING CURRENT LOGFILE DISCONNECT;Am I right ?
Question on 'WITH SESSION SHUTDOWN' clause
While googling I've come across the following variant with an additonal 'WITH SESSION SHUTDOWN' clause

  • Want to real time copy database

    hello
i use oracle 10g release 2 with windows server 2003 standart edition(who don't work with cluster)
i a beginner with oracle and i want just know if i can do a real time hot copy of database to another database(other pc) without use oracle cluster.
i want only that my database copy herself real time (or with a light late, only few minutes) into another database everytime she is update with request sql.
    Someone could help me???
    thx
    laurent

streams is good but requires setting up a distributed environment.
    My recommendation is:
Run the database in archivelog mode.
Backup using rman, online little load on the database.
Restore and recover to the destination server, then copy the last archive logs over and apply them.
Advantage of this is: nearly no load on the primary database.
technically it is more or less the same as creating a standby database. But you do not need to shutdown your primary database to produce the initial copy.

  • How to see the bitrate of a video in real time

Some time ago I posted a question on this forum, asking if it's possible to do that (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=325516). As the topic is archived, I can not write the answer I found today: VLC, at least version 0.8.5, can do exactly what I need: on Window > Information > Statistics, it's a reading named Stream bitrate that reads like once per second the bitrate.
It works not only for DVDs, but for any video, of course.
    Brilliant! And it's free!!

    This is great!
You can both watch your newly compressed m2v and see the bitrate in real time.
VLC media player 8.5 for Mac OS X can be downloaded here:

  • Real time apply for logical standby

    Hi
    Oracle 11.2.0.3.0
I have a primary database orcl and logical standby database orcl_std.
Real time apply is enabled. I have standby redologs in both primary and standby sides and I`ve started recovery with below command:
    ALTER DATABASE START LOGICAL STANDBY APPLY IMMEDIATE;
When I create a new table in primary database, I am unable to see it on standby database (Although real time apply is enabled)
However, when I switch log in primary, I can see the new table in standby database.
My question is, why realtime apply is not working in my scenerio ? I was expecting to see the new table immediately in standby database once it is created in primary database. Why am I supposed to wait for log switch in real time apply ?

  • Multiclip Editing in Real Time

I have this concert footage I am syncing and I am now up to 9 angles all in standard DEF DV NTSC. I have 1 or 2 more to put in. So I will have say 11 total angles. I know I can view and make cuts in real time up to 16 on the screen at 1 time I've read. I need to see in REAL time the 16 angles and edit in real time these concerts. I've done it with 4 angles and it works great in FCP 5. Even have done it with 6 angles.
I notice when I play it back with 9 angles though, within about 20 seconds, I start to see the time code updating every 5 or 10 frames and then I start to get sound drop outs and video drop outs...sometimes the video freezes as well. I have unchecked all the boxes in the View menu that are important for speed according to the manual, but nevertheless I think around the 8th angle or so, I get this problem.
Where is the bottleneck? I have this card in for my display: GeForce 6800 Ultra. And I have 4 GB of RAM. My 2nd 400 GB hard drive has about 30 GB left on it.
Is my GeForce 6800 Ultra what determines my ability to see more streams in real time? Is there some way I can watch these 11 streams without any drop outs and edit real time?
And if I need a faster system, what area of my system would I need to improve. Ideally I want to be able to edit 16 stream in real time without any slowdown in the sound and video drop outs. I need to make these cuts precisely as I feel the flow of the music and see all streams together. Soon I will do this with HDV footage as well.
Any help would be VERY much appreciated. Thanks-
    Dual 2.5 Ghz PowerPC G5   Mac OS X (10.4.1)

What displays are connected to the 6800?
If it's driving two displays, I think it divides its onboard RAM between the two (128/128). I read some time ago that ATI had released a little app that allowed you to turn off the second display connector on its cards, so all of the RAM would be funneled to the main display. I don't know if there's a way to do that with the nVidia card.
But if there is, that might help. IOW, you'd have to work on a single display, but all 256MB of RAM would be available to it. That might help, if it's even possible.
If you pare down the files on your media drive, so that it's less than 60% full, with all files living in the first 60% of the platters (the outer and middle tracks), that would help. To do that, you'd trash enough files to get down to 60% full then copy them all to another volume, wipe the original media volume, then move the files back.
Make sure External Devices is set to None, so the G5 doesn't have to push video out the FW port.
Repair Premissions, quit all unneeded apps and processes, and make sure your boot volume isn't more than 60% full. YOu could also set RT Extreme Display Quality to Low. Leave Frame Rate to Full, though, or FCP will intentional drop frames to maintain real-time playback.
Others may have additional suggestions, but if none of our suggestions resolve this, then you might consider buying a fast RAID array. Expensive, yes, and not typically needed for DV, but it will drive more streams of video than you can do now.
Then again, I don't need to use multi-clip, so I don't know whether your particular problem is typical or not.

  • Database Aplication Tables Reconciliation in real time

    Hi.
Is there a way to get database aplication tables trusted reconciliation in real time?
I mean, If I add/update a row to a table in the trusted source, some type of agent calls an API in OIM which gets the added/updated row (and creates the user)
