Segfault - error 6 in libc-2.13.so after GNOME3 upgrade::[SOLVED]

Greetings archers,
Today I`ve -Syu`ed my system which is running Gnome 3 on it (64 bit installation of Arch). Everything was working just awesome but now almost everything is crashing with a very strange behavior.
For example, flash plugin is crashing when watching youtube videos in fullscreen, nautilus is crashing when trying to move/drag the icons, chromium is crashing when trying to type something in the address bar.
The following error message is being written immediatelly after the crash occures.

I've searched on the Internet and I was unable to find any tip or something which I need to implement in order to fix this issue.
Also, I do not know what this 'libc-2.13.so' library is exactly used for? Can some one point me to some direction?
EDIT: I've found that 'libc-2.13.so' is apart of 'glibc' and 'lib32-glibc' (the GNU C Library), so I need to check which version is currently installed on my laptop once I get home and will try downgrading it and check if that helps.
Additionally, I've searched the Internet deeper and did not find anything similar to this except this ONE.
At this moment I'm not knowledgeable to narrow this issue down. Is some one else experiencing this behavior?

When I select the Macbuntu Cursor scheme (the one I was using under gnome2, xfce etc ...) some programs are segfaulting as described in my previous post.
Once I switched the cursors back to the Gnome 3 original skin, everything is again working perfectly. This thread can be closed or something.

This error may be due to kernel patch level. You can try some other patch level. If you can raise an OSS message with SAP, they can tell you exactly which Kernel patch will solve your problem.

Hard disk problems after full upgrade [SOLVED]

After a full upgrage (pacman -Suy) last monday, My system denied to boot:D:D:D:D:D.
So to fix it I have to go to /boot/grub/menu.list and change from hda3 to sda3. Everything seems to be Ok but when the system is booting and scan the the hard disk to check bad, It drops me to the shell with the error that there is something wrong with my hard disk and it suggest me to set the superblock to 8139.
So to fix it I boot my PC from Arch live CD, use the following command:
#fsck.ext3 -c -f /dev/sda3
#fsck.ext3 -b 8139
Everything seems to be Ok, there is no bad in my hard disk.
When I boot my system again, I got the same error again, I came back to live CD, check the hard disk, set the superblock as It told me and again, I got the error when I boot from the hard disk.
This is the second PC with the same error.
Three months ago, I upgraded my Server and got exactly the same problem. Because this is the server, I need it run ASAP, so I modified the rc.sysinit script so that the system will not check my hard disk when It boots. :P:P. And my Server can run without any problems since then.
I don't have time much to spend on this error and my PC is in the Lab now so I can't provide the detail of the error until next Monday. Sorry for that.
Any idea how to fix this error?

Yes, you are right. I changed from hda to sda in /boot/grub/menu.lst but I forgot to do the same in /etc/fstab files. On Monday I will check again if it is set correctly or not
:D:D. I have just taken a quick look into the fstab file in my Server, The One with the same problem three months ago, and the fstab file is set correctly with sda partitions. I don't want to touch this server again or my services will be down. So this seems not the correct solution, but anyway, I will take a look at it next week.

Apcupsd working strangely after system upgrade [SOLVED?]

I'm having an odd problem with the apcupsd (3.10.17-1) package in the Community repo. I'm running a Back-UPS RS 1000 according to apcaccess. It was working swimmingly through a USB connection until recently. I have the timeout set to 0 and the automatic shutdown set when the battery reaches 5%.
After my system-wide upgrade, there popped up a problem. Although 'apcaccess status' tells me that my unit is online and the battery charge is at 100% and the load and timeleft is reasonable, the daemon doesn't actually use this information when a switch to battery happens.
When there is a switchover from a power-outage, the system shuts down (despite timeout set to 0). Later when I check the log in /var/log/apcupsd.events, it says, for example,

The first line being when I booted my system. As you can see, it thinks it reached the 5% limit, despite telling me it had 100% earlier. It's a new battery and the hardware is not bugging me in any way.
I've read other people having some trouble with USB after recent upgrades of DBUS (I'm running 0.34-1), or perhaps it is UDev (060-5). Could this be related? I'm not sure which upgrade did it because I don't test my apc unit after every pacman -Syu.

Well, the problem mysteriously disappeared (apparently). I did update udev... maybe that has something to do with it. Did no one else have this problem?

Hi,
I was going back to take a look at the Getting started with ETL.
After the upgrade to 10.1.3.5.3 (and also 10.1.3.6.0) I cannot access the sample environment.
I upgraded the sample repository but the message still states that the repository is outdated.
Should I setup a full new environment to get back the ability to look at the getting started?

Xorg Segfaulting on viewing console (ctl+alt+f1) after nvidia upgrade

I upgraded nvidia and nvidia-utils yesterday to the current nvidia-utils 169.09-2 and nvidia-utils 169.09-1 versions respectively. Pacman complained about the presence of /usr/lib/libXvMCNVIDIA_dynamic.so.1, so I followed the advice here (http://archlinux.org/pipermail/arch-gen … 16508.html) and did a -Sf installation. After that the installation and restart (I upgraded the kernel at the same time), went smoothly.
I run icewm, but boot to the console and start X manually. I tend to drop back into the console (ctl+alt+f1) fairly regularly. The X-server has now begun to catch Sig 11 and segfault (unpredictably), when I go to the console. It has happened three times today - the Xorg log terminates with :

Errors in Unity 4.2(1) after OS upgrade to Windows Server 2003

I upgraded our Unity VM only server to server 2003 and reinstalled Unity 4.2(1) and restored untiy from backup. After the restore there are multiple errors in the Application log. I have engaged two different Cisco TAC people and neither of them could help me in resolving these problems. Makes me lose confidence in Cisco when I can't even get an American based engineer who knows anything about Unity! Hopefully someone here knows something.

I'll have to look into this a bit more but I can tell you what this essentially means. There are 3 main system accounts that Unity sets up when the application is installed (assuming you integrate with Exchange 2003). You actually specify the location for these objects during the permissions wizard and etc. The 2 accounts here are the primary system account for handling outside calls (Unity_) and the account used for failsafe operations (USbms_) - they are the 2 orphaned entries you see. It appears the location specified for these accounts may have been invalid during the reinstall or there was some other yet to be determined issue at play here that caused these accounts to be orphaned which is not good.
When you installed Win2K3 and then reinstalled Unity, did you set up Unity to the exact version and ES that your last DiRT backup was saved at? Also, did you specify the same OU's and etc when you ran the permissions wizard for where to import objects, create objects, and etc.
Can you attach a copy of the installation log and other application logs? I'll try to look further and see if I can be of more assistance.

Why do I get an error message that says can't burn dvds or watch videos because of errors in register? This occured after installing upgrade to 10.4

Since updating itunes with 10.4 I get an error msg stating I can't burn CDs or put videos into itunes. I tried repair option twice, uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, same problem. I do not have any CD/DVD burning software installed.

I recently had to reinstall my software for a
dell computer a dell latitude d 830, then after installing all of my software and such including itunes the player did well even record to disks with no problems now that my system has done alot of updating of system files....now the itunes does not burn to my cd...error message 2131 this time
The 2131 usually indicates firmware needs to be updated on a drive.
Head to your drivers and downloads page for your latitude at Dell, and check for updates to your firmware for your optical drives. If you're behind and you update, does that clear up the 2131?

Error in Prime Infrastructure 2.0 after Controller upgrade

I've got two WiSM and Prime Infrastructure 2.0. Last week I upgraded one WiSM to 7.0.250.0, plus a third controller. That worked fine, but since then, my PI shows one of the two controllers of the second WiSM as "Unreachable". I rebooted the PI and also rebooted the controller again, to no avail.
I tried now to update the snmp v2c credentials in PI, but receive an error.
The error message shown when I try to update the credentials is:
Error: Common-1: Some unexpected internal error has occurred. If the problem persists please report to the Tech Support.
Error:Detail: errorId=6 Invalid credential name: snmp_transport.
Any ideas?
I can normally access the controller through its webinterface and don't see any errors that would spring to the eye.

Just manualy run the Task "Controller Operational Status" and received this error:

I worked with TAC Team and the final solution was to delete all controllers and add them again. This might get fixed in a future version though.

Filesystem check failed after running upgrades [Solved]

I have a new arch installation with /home, /tmp, /var, and /usr mounted on an LVM partition. After running the updates I get a "Filesystem Check Failed" error message. It then dumps me into the terminal in read-only mode, giving me the option for read/write... which doesn't matter, because without access to vi (which is on /usr o the LVM partition) I can't access anything anyway. / and /boot test clean, but it's not recognizing the LVM. Any help would be appreciated.

Figured it out... the miserable thing couldn't make up it's mind which drive to label sda.

Constant reboot after IOS4 upgrade Solved!

I too was having the dreaded error 29 code and stuck in recovery mode along with the 5 minute constant reboot since upgrading to IOS4 two days ago. I had to use Blackra1n to get it out of recovery. Blackra1n will NOT jailbreak IOS4 but will fix the stuck recovery mode problem. I also had previously replaced the battery with a higher capacity mAh. the upgrade to v3.1.3 went perfect. Only when I upgraded to IOS4 did things change. It would constantly reboot and the battery was slowly draining and would not recharge. I poured through countless forum posts and tried most all of them. Then this evening I found a post somewhere in this forum about possibly the battery was causing the problem. So I got out my tools and put the original battery back in and booted up. It got to the front screen and immediately a bunch of old calendar events started popping up which was different than before. I cleared them all and I have now had my iphone on steady for over an hour and not one reboot. Battery is also now recharging off my laptop.
So long story short, if you've replaced your battery at some point, put it back in or hopefully an OEM with same APN: 616-0434 (#for my iPhone). Everything is now working in IOS4!

Fluxbox fonts suck after an upgrade [SOLVED]

I upgraded Arch after a month (too long I know) and the fonts in fluxbox look horrible. They look like a choppy typewriter font (menus, window titles, etc..). Fonts in every other application look fine (i.e. same as before upgrade).

Also, some people mentioned changing options like autohinter or bitmap on and off, but I'm sort of confused and don't know how to do that (e.g. font.avail, conf.d, ??). I typed fonts in the wiki, but couldn't much help there for this.
Anyone have some "dumbed-down" advice for someone who is confused about how fonts work in Linux?

Reboot failed after smb upgrade(SOLVED)

Forced fsck ran during reboot and reports two files using same inode ...'usr/bin/smbget .../usr/bin/smbtree
What can be done to eliminate this problem?
