Select specific row

Dear all,
I have a table containing 50 rows and I would like to select only rows between 20 and 30. Can you help me to do this with only one select statement or whatever you suggest. Also is it possible to do it without using rownum
Thanks
SL

I do want want any specific criteriaSo in fact you should have called this thread Select unspecific rows, hmmm?
If you're really not bothered about the precise number of rows then the SAMPLE cause is a very performant way of getting a random subset of rows...

  • How to select specific rows in rtf template for complex calculation

    Hi,
    I want custom calculation in my rtf template and for this i need to select specific cell's value OR specific row's value. Any one please suggest how can I get this. Below is the example i have plotted using excel. My target is to get field 8 and 9 using sum and minus. We can calculate column over column, is there any way to calculate row over row? If I use variables, then i have to create so many variables because I have more columns and rows to calculate (here i posted one sample table). Any one please help me how can I get expected result other than using variables! If "Using variables" is the only way then also give your valuable opinions.

    Hi AlexAnd,
    Thanks for the reply, I got 0 using both codes. This is a dummy table and I plotted 3,4 to give an idea of row number (as like as excel). Rows are individual data sets combining different measures and dimensions with different values.

  • Select specific row after a refresh

    I can not find this in the documentation. I have a table
    which list all my records from an XML. I then have a detail region
    that allows me to update the data in the CURRENT record. Upon
    submitting the updated data to the server, I need the record list
    refreshed, not a problem, and then the row previously selected to
    be selected again as current row. I have a Unique ID that my
    database assigns the records, but that will be different than what
    SPRY assigns. What is my best solution? I hope I have not
    miscommunicated this.
    Thanks,
    Lee

    This sounds like something that should be added to the data
    set api to help folks out. I've jotted it down. Until then, you can
    use something like this:
    function FindRowIDOfFirstMatch(ds, columnName, value)
    if (!ds || !columnName)
    return -1;
    var rows = ds.getData();
    var len = rows.length;
    for (var i = 0; i < len; i++)
    if (rows
    [columnName] == value)
    return rows["ds_RowID"];
    return -1;
    And call it like this:
    dsMyDataSet.setCurrentRow(FindRowIDOfFirstMatch(dsMyDataSet,
    '@id', '12345678'));
    Of course if there is the possibility that it might not find
    a row, then you would have to check for a -1 before calling
    setCurrentRow.
    For a data set observer example, look at this sample file in
    the zip file:

  • Pre-selection of rows in 'MULTISELECT'  tableView / DefaultTableViewModel

    Hi all,
    Wondering if anyone has done this before and can help me.
    I have a tableView using the 'MULTISELECT' selectionMode which neatly renders checkboxes against each row allowing them to be selected and deselected; which is fine.
    I need to pre-select some rows before the JSP is rendered. Is there anything I can do in the model that will influence the required rows as being selected ?
    Cheers
    Phil

    Thanks for replying. Yes your right this would select specific rows of a tableView; but only once the tableView has been rendered.
    I need to have some rows checked before the JSP is rendered, so the first thing the user sees when the iView loads is a table with a couple of rows already selected.
    Can't believe this is so hard. Was hoping for a 'column.setRowSelected' method or something I could call while created the model.
    Now looking down the TableViewCellRenderer avenue. So forget the MULTISELECT on the tableview, and hopefully just create a column of checkboxes which I have control over.

  • Select ALV row right after first display

    Hi,
    I want to pre-select specific rows in my ALV already when it`s first displayed. I tried to use method set_selected_rows in the PBO where the ALV object is created, but it did not work. It only worked when I put the method in the PAI.
    Can I select rows of the ALV when it is initially displayed, that is before it`s screen`s PAI is called?
    Thanks.
    Krisz

    Hi
    Its possible to have the rows pre-selected using buttons.
    In PBO, after calling method-set_table_for_first_display
         CALL METHOD cl_grid->get_selected_rows
           IMPORTING
             et_index_rows = tb_row_id[]
    Loop on the internal table whose records are displayed in ALV,
    and set the parameter index in TB_ROW_ID as SY_TABIX.
    endloop.
         CALL METHOD cl_grid->set_selected_rows
           EXPORTING
             it_index_rows = tb_row_id.
    I have tested it and works.
    Please let me know whether it works or not

  • Returning specific rows within a resultset.

    I have a table with the following rows:
    Category Site Title
    ======== ==== ======
    1 1 sometitle
    123 1 sometitle
    128 1 sometitle
    4 1 sometitle
    10 1 sometitle
    I have a REF cursor that looks like this:
    OPEN RefCursor FOR
    SELECT Category, Site, Title
    FROM TableName
    WHERE Site = 1
    ORDER BY Category;
    Now...Here is the catch. In that same select statement, I want to be able to retrieve a specific range of rows to return, once the 'order by' is done.
    I want to be able to execute my query, having it return rows 2 to 4...
    So my RefCursor should contain:
    Category Site Title
    ======== ==== ======
    4 1 sometitle
    10 1 sometitle
    123 1 sometitle
    The two important things are this:
    1- The initial resultset must be sorted first..THEN I want to select specific rows.
    2- The final result set MUST be a Ref Cursor.
    Anyone have suggestions?

    This will retrieve ordered rows 2 -4.

  • Custom row-fetch and how to get column values from specific row of report

    Hi -- I have a case where a table's primary key has more than 3 columns. My report on the
    table has links that send the user to a single-row DML form, but of course the automatic
    fetch won't work because 1) I can't set more than 3 item values in the link and 2) the
    auto fetch only handles 2 PK columns.
    1)
    I have written a custom fetch (not sure it's the most elegant, see second question) that is working
    for 3 or few PK columns (it references the 1-3 item values set in the link), but when there are
    more than 3, I don't know how to get the remaining PK column values for the specific row that was
    selected in the report. How can I access that row's report column values? I'll be doing it from the
    form page, not the report page. (I think... unless you have another suggestion.)
    2)
    My custom fetch... I just worked something out on my own, having no idea how this is typically
    done. For each dependent item (database column) in the form, I have a source of PL/SQL
    function that queries the table for the column in question, using the primary key values. It works
    beautifully, though is just a touch slow on my prototype table, which has 21 columns. Is there
    a way to manually construct the fetch statement once for the whole form, and have APEX be smart
    about what items get what
    return values, so that I don't have to write PL/SQL for every item? Because my query data sources
    are sometimes in remote databases, I have to write manual fetch and dml anyway. Just would like
    to streamline the process.
    Thanks,
    Carol

    HI Andy -- Well, I'd love it if this worked, but I'm unsure how to implement it.
    It seems I can't put this process in the results page (the page w/ the link, that has multiple report rows), because the link for the row will completely bypass any after-submit processes, won't it? I've tried this in other conditions; I thought the link went directly to the linked-to page.
    And, from the test of your suggestion that I've tried, it's not working in the form that allows a single row edit. I tried putting this manually-created fetch into a before header process, and it seems to do nothing (even with a hard-coded PK value, just to test it out). In addition, I'm not sure how, from this page, the process could identify the correct PK values from the report page, unless it can know something about the row that was selected by clicking on the link. It could work if all the PK columns in my edit form could be set by the report link, but sometimes I have up to 5 pk columns.
    Maybe part of the problem is something to do with the source type I have for each of the form items. With my first manual fetch process, they were all pl/sql functions. Not sure what would be appropriate if I can somehow do this with a single (page level?) process.
    Maybe I'm making this too hard?
    Thanks,
    Carol

  • Display specific row to display multiple time in jsf table 11.1.1.2.0 with

    HI ALL,
    I'm using jdeveloper 11.1.1.2.0 with ADF 11g.
    I have to display the values in jsf frm table where i'm using DislayCertDetailVO . In dis VO i'm having a column no.of certificaties .taking dis column value when i navigate to other page jsf by selecting a specific row. here i have to display the selected row in multiple times based on the no.of.certificates column value.
    I want to display specific row to display multiple time to repeat same row in a table in jsf based on the value from bean or table in database.

    Hi, Trying it once more to give more clarity of my scenario.
    I have to navigate from 1 screen to the other by picking a given table record/row from the 1st screen. While displaying the record on the 2nd screen the catch is that, I have to display it as many times as the value in a cell of the selected record.
    eg.
    screen 1
    col1   col2     col3
    2 order1 item1
    [next]
    On clicking next it should look like
    screen2
    col1           col2            col3           col4
    order1 item1
    order1 item1
    where col3 and col4 will be editable by the user and col1 is the value depends how many times i have repeat the row/record
    Hope this give more clarity.

  • How to set a MessageTextInput to be Read Only for a specific row?

    Hi,
    In Benefits Self Service, particularly the Update Beneficiaries page, it lists all your eligible Beneficiaries including yourself. The table has the following columns displayed for each beneficiary: Beneficiary, Relationship, Social Security Number, Primary %, Contingent %, Clear. This is the page where you allocate the Primary % and the Contingent %. The Primary % and Contingent % are MessageText Input.
    We have a requirement that we wouldn't want an employee to designate himself/herself as a beneficiary. However, the employee is being listed as a beneficiary along with all the other eligible beneficiaries. Oracle says it is an intended functionality to include the employee in the beneficiary. Is there a way thru Controller Object extension to set the Primary % and Contingent % as Read Only but only for the row corresponding to the employee to prevent the employee from accidentally allocating himself/herself as a beneficiary.
    I know there is the SPEL functionality but this requires me to add a transient attribute to the View Object corresponding to that table. But everytime I make a change to the View Object either by adding a transient attribute or some other changes, I end up getting an error on the standard Relation attribute of that view object. The error is something like "Relation set attribute failed for View Object". I cannot get pass this error and I'm not sure what's causing this. I see other people in this forum have encountered the same problem when extending view objects but no specific solution was offered nor any clear explanation of the cause.
    So I thought if there's any way this could be done thru Controller Object extension. If so, please let me know how. The challenge for me I think is finding the bean corresponding to those Message Text Input but only for a specific row in the table.
    Thanks,
    Ronaldo

    Hi,
    I also tried extending the View Object but without changing anything to the SQL so it is exactly the same as the standard view object but I still get the "Attribute set for Relation in view object BeneficiaryPeopleVO1 failed". Based from this, extending the view object whether any change has been made or not affects the standard transient Relation attribute.
    Here is the standard XML definition of the View Object if anyone is curious

  • To color a specific row in a Table UI element

    Hello Experts,
    We have a requirement to highlight (with distinguish color) a specific row of a table UI based on column data.
    Suppose we have a table with 5 column and 10 row, now if the data on 5th column greater than some XYZ value then we need to highlight the specific row with a different color.
    Can anyone please help me to achieve this requirement?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sambaran Chakraborty

    Hi,
    In your outline, I am missing quite a few prerequisites which I mentioned (not sure if you have implemented them already)
    your sub node, does it have singleton=false, cardinality 1..1 and selection cardinality 1..1?
    The attribute of type TableCellDesign in that sub node, does it have the calculated property to true?
    If you've bound each table column's cellDesign property to this calculated attribute, you just put some code in the generated generated get<SubNode><CalcAttribute> method to set the color
    For instance by just entering the line
    return WDTableCellDesign.CRITICALVALUE_LIGHT
    in that method will render each linked cell to that color
    Not sure what else I can say to explain this, there's not much to code...

  • How to change the color of specific row in ALV tree

    Hi,
    I m using method set_table_for_first_display of a class CL_GUI_ALV_TREE.
    The req is to change the color of specific row. Now can anybody tell me how to change the color of ALV tree. As in ALV tree and in this method 'set_table_for_first_display', there is no parameter IS_Layout.
    Pls suggest...

    hi
    hope this code will help you.

    There are a number of ways to create a fieldcat.
    For the purpose of this example i will build the fieldcatalog manualy
    by populating the internal table fields individually and then
    appending the rows. This method can be the most time consuming but can
    also allow you more control of the final product.
    Beware though, you need to ensure that all fields required are
    populated. When using some of functionality available via ALV, such as
    total. You may need to provide more information than if you were
    simply displaying the result
    I.e. Field type may be required in-order for

    Can you explain what do you mean by the following?
    "PL/SQL tables (a.k.a. Index-by tables) cannot be used as the basis for columns and/or attributes"There are three kinds of collections:
    (NTB) Nested Tables
    (VAR) Varrying Arrays
    (IBT) Index-by Tables (the collection formerly known as "PL/SQL tables")
    NTB (and VAR) can be defined as persistent user defined data types, and can be used in table DDL (columns) and other user defined type specifications (attributes).
    SQL> CREATE TYPE my_ntb AS TABLE OF INTEGER;
    SQL> CREATE TABLE my_table ( id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, ints my_ntb );
    SQL> CREATE TYPE my_object AS OBJECT ( id INTEGER, ints my_ntb );
    /IBT are declared inside stored procedures only and have slightly different syntax from NTB. Only variables in stored procedures can be based on IBT declarations.
    CREATE PROCEDURE my_proc IS
       TYPE my_ibt IS TABLE OF INTEGER INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;  -- now you see why they are called Index-by Tables
       my_ibt_var my_ibt;
    BEGIN
       NULL;
    END;That sums up the significant differences as it relates to how they are declared and where they can be referenced.
    How are they the same?
    NTB and VAR can also be (non-persistently) declared in stored procedures like IBTs.
    Why would you then ever use IBTs?
    IBTs are significantly easier to work with, since you don't have to instantiate or extend them as you do with NTB and VAR, or
    Many other highly valuable PL/SQL programs make use of them, so you have to keep your code integrated/consistent.
    There's a lot more to be said, but I think this answers the question posed by Sri.

  • Open system form and select a row number on matrix by click on button

    Hi experts,
    I have to open the purchase order form and select a specific row number from the matrix by clicking a button on sales order form.
    is it possible ?
    can anyone help me to achieve it?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards

    Andrea,
    To Do? Clicking on a Button on Sales Order -> Opens a PO form, and selects the row?
    In the eventhandler of a button click if the PO is not linked to SO by SAP B1 standard functionality
    step 1. call ActivateMenu ("2305") of Sbo_application , this opens the PO form
    step 2. Change the form to Find mode
    step 3. enter po number to the Item UID "8" which is the document number.
    step 4. Send enter key, or Clikc On button UID "1" which finds the PO
    step 5.read the value from SO form, from matrix "38" line where you selected
    step 6. use the code above to locate the line in PO (use # column for position numbers which UID is 0)
    at step 5, i think you should select a line from SO matrix which you would like to open.
    IN sales order, If you used PO chekcbox on logistics tab to create the PO, you can find a direct link between PO and SO (only in docentries are linked not positions) on sales order,  Column UID 158 field name: potrgnum.  If this connection is exists, you have an easy way:
    SO form, when a user clicks on COlumn 158 (po number), you can implement an eventhandler, which
    step 1.read the value from SO form, from matrix "38" line where you selected
    step 2. use the code above to locate the line in PO (use # column for position numbers which UID is 0)
    By processing theses steps, you can build up you solution.
