Selecting port pool for rapid clone

Hi,
Our production is based on 25000 port range series (web on 25000,forms on 25001..) and now I have to clone the applications starting the port range from 26000 (web on 26000 , forms on 26001....) . Now what port pool should I select during adcfgclone.pl ...? please advice.
Thanks
Clinton

I am surprised that works for you on a web port of 25000. There are supposed to only be 100 port pools, starting at 8000.

What is the port pool? What if I want to give a specific value to a Server Port?
Answer:
If you are cloning on the same machine or want to redefine the server ports , you will be prompted for a port pool. The port pool provides a way to use a set of predefined server ports. There are 100 port pools. For example, if you select 3, the default database port number (1521) becomes 1524.
It looks like you entered 1700 as your port pool. Try entering 1800 and see what you get. Again, no promises it works as officially there are 100 port pools.

  • Cloning Non EBS Database with Rapid Clone.

    Hi DBAs,
It might sound weird but I was curious that - Can you clone the regular oracle database (Non EBS) using rapid clone. Lets suppose if I copy over appsutil directory from a EBS database and manually edit the context file with current instance information. Also if I need to do some changes in shell/perl scripts of rapid clone etc.
Have any one done it in past by doing some magic and tricks or Is there automated script based cloning available for regular databases?
    Thanks
    -Naveed-

    Hi Naveed,
I believe it is not possible as Rapid Clone is an Oracle Apps utility, so Oracle does not support cloning non-Apps databases using Rapid Clone.
In addition, there is no context file or AutoConfig in such a database, which is required for Rapid Clone to work properly.
Is there automated script based cloning available for regular databases? For this cloning, you can use the manual method, export/import, or RMAN.

  • Rapid clone port pool numbers

    Hi,
Have been trying to carry out a rapid clone of ebs 11i. All is working ok but I have a question regarding port pool numbers.
during the clone process, the process asks questions such as
Target system COMMON_TOP directory [/path/path/path]and suggest s possible answer. I have noticed that thsi doesn't happen with the port pool number. Is there anyway to get the clone process to preserve the port pool number?
    regards
    Alan

  • How to resolve "getPooledConn: No more connections in the pool for Host"

I am using the wl9.1 proxy in a SunOne WebServer 6.1 (solaris), and I regularly get this error:

Having referenced the thread below, I'm having problems trying to run dbconfig (perl adcfgclone.pl dbconfig) for the port number (1542) portpool = 21 - on my test database server.

I have tried even the defauly portpool of 0 and even that returns the error message that the port pool is not free.
    If I do a netstat -a|grep 1542 or 1521, it returns nothing.

Did you reboot the server as requested above? Do you have any services running on this server?
Please also review the doc and update the thread then.
    Thanks,
    HusseinServer was re-booted. No Change.
Here is the issue - The Database server has three listeners on it - one for the two instances - lets call it LISTENER on port 1521 - and two - one for each APP that it hosts the Instance for - lets call these LISTENER_DBAPP1 on port 1532 and LISTENER_DBAPP2 on port 1542
Whenever I've run the perl adcfgclone dbconfig (after a datafile copy is complete and the instance is brought up), I've always had all three listeners running.
I've never had this problem before where if I gave the portpool of 21 for DBAPP2, it would not accept, and then fail.
Thursday onwards, this did not work.
In additon, the dbconfig deletes the SPFILE and the init.ora file (requiring me to take a backup of each of these files before I start the dbconfig process)
This morning, I found an prior database context file from a previous clone, and passed that in as a parameter (perl adcfgclone dbconfig DBAPP2_hostname.xml) and this worked.
There were entries in the log file about the portpool 21 not being free - but after the dbconfig process stopped the LISTENER_DBAPP2 for the 'ApplyDatabase' portion of the dbconfig, it completed succesfully.
I checked the FND_NODES table and the entries are what I would expect to see after a succesfull DB/Autoconfig run.
This puzzles me - but for now my issue is resolved.

  • Port Forwarding for L2TP/IPSec VPN Behind Verizon Actiontec MI424WR-GEN2 Rev. E v20.21.0.2

I've got a NAS setup with various services running on custom ports to help minimize exposure (especially to script kiddies). I've tested everything both internally and externally to confirm they all work, and even had someone at a remote location confirm accessibility as well.  Port forward configurations performed on the Actiontec are working well.
I installed an L2TP/IPSec VPN server, tested internally and it connected successfully.  So for all intents & purposes, this validates that the VPN server is correctly configured to accept inbound connections and functioning correctly.
I logged into the Verizon Actiontec MI424WR router, setup port forwarding for UDP ports 500, 1701 & 4500.
Note: I added the AH & ESP protocols based on what I saw on the built-in L2TP/IPSec rules
With the port forwarding in place, I tested VPN externally but it didn't connect.
I've done the following so far to no avail:
Double & triple checked the port forwards, deleted & recreated the rules a few times to be sure
There are no other pre-existing L2RP/IPSec port forward rules or otherwise conflicting port forward rules (e.g.: another rule for ports 500, 1701 or 4500)
There was an L2TP port triggering rule enabled, that I toggled on and off with no change
Verified the firewall on VPN server had an exclusion for L2TP, or that the firewall is off. (Firewall is off to reduce a layer of complexity, but it worked internally to begin with so I doubt that's the issue.)
Since it works internally, and there are no entries in the logs on the device indicating inbound connections, I'm convinced its an issue with the Verizon Actiontec router.  But unfortunately, I'm not sure what else to try or where else to look to troubleshoot this.  For instance, is there a log on the router that I can view in real time (e.g.: tail) that would show me whether or not the inbound connection attempt is reaching the device, and whether or not the device allowed or blocked it?
    My router details:
    Verizon Actiontec
    MI424WR-GEN2
    Revision E

normally a vpn on that router, will have a GRE tunneling protocol as well.

I know the preconfigured VPN rules will do the GRE protocol as well, but if you do it by hand you can't get it.

  • Different connection pool for a report

    Hi experts,
For one my reports using 'CLOBS' like explained (http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/11/12/oracle-bi-ee-101332-working-with-clob-fields/) I need to disable parallel processing because it's not supported.
NO_PARALLEL and NO_INDEX_PARALLEL hints at the query level couldn't disable the parallelism.the optimizer still use it.
I thought about having a new connection pool that contains 'before query' and 'after query' statements that will disable the parallelism. This will take me a lot of time to rebuild the whole Presentation and Business layers to point to a new physical tables.
Any one has an idea about how I can use another connection pool for a specific report?
    Regards

I have the problem. My issue is that I need to have a webservice use the 2 database connection pools I have created. Originally the pools were Non-XA. When I change them to XA I cannot get the JMS JDBC Store to work.
java.lang.Exception: WebLogic Pool Driver doesn't support XA driver, Please change your config to use a Non-XA driver
However, part of what you wrote below I don't understand. You said you configured a brand new JMS JDBC Store and was able to use an XA Connection Pool? I tried to delete my existing one and create it anew, but was not able to use an XA pool.
Is there any solution around this? I need to have an XA Pool for a webservice but non-XA for my JMS Store.
"After much digging I found documentation that you cannot configure an XA JDBC Connection Pool for use with a JMS JDBC Store: http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs81/ConsoleHelp/jms_config.html#1128929
The only thing is that if I configure a brand new JMS JDBC Store and make it use the XA JDBC Connection Pool (instead of just selecting the new MySQLXAConnPool from the list that includes the non XA pool) it works without an error."

  • Ports required for communication between Web servers and service applications (the default is HTTP)

We're using SharePoint 2010, I'm the system admin for a SharePoint farm. We enabled SharePoint Search by adding a Search Service APplication. One of the crawl report timer job is failing every 5 minte with the error "Cannot connect to remote server".
After digging around, we found that the server running the timer job tries to connect to the SearchAdmin.svc on the index server, over HTTPS / port 32844 However, communication over SSL via a non default port is blocked by our firewall.
According to this article: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262849.aspx the default is HTTP for communication
between web servers. How is it possible that it's trying to connect over SSL?

    Hi,
    Quoted from
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262849.aspx#ServiceApp :
You can change the protocol and port binding for each service application. On the Service Applications page in Central Administration, select the service application, and then click
    Publish.
Here is an article for configuring Windows firewall port rules for SharePoint using PowerShell in case you need:

  • Multiple port opened for one db connection.

My java standalone server connects to sql server via MS sql JDBC driver(v 2.2). I saw so many port in Time_wait state to the db server in netstat. I did some search on the internet, found that this the nature of TCP/IP protocol. and we can live with it without modifying Windows config.
however, I noticed on my side, there are two ports involved for each database connection. I think this is one of the reasons I have so many ports in Time_wait state.
To me, it seems like the request to db server is done on one port, the response from db server is done on another port. is this implemented on JDBC driver layer or on sql server?
    please help !!!

I saw so many port in Time_wait state to the db server in netstat. This suggests that you are not using any type of connection pooling, but instead are opening and closing connections pretty quickly, although it depends on what you mean by "many"; 10 or 100 might be a good number for a busy system, depending on your application. On some operating systems under high load, it could potentially be a problem if you are getting into many hundreds or thousands, but other issues usually drive people to using connection pools long before this issue would.
however, I noticed on my side, there are two ports involved for each database
connection. I think this is one of the reasons I have so many ports in Time_wait state. Not really. That might double the number, but the real reason is a lot of connection closes (real connection closes, not closes on a pooled connection).
To me, it seems like the request to db server is done on one port,
the response from db server is done on another port.
is this implemented on JDBC driver layer or on sql server? That is totally up to the driver vendor; there's nothing you can do about it.
please help !!!I'm not sure what you're problem really is - you might be worrying about something that isn't a problem. Is something bad happening that you're trying to fix, or did you just notice these expiring ports and start worrying about them?

  • I was thrown in the pool with my phone in my pocket.  I was in the pool for a minute or two.  I got out dried it off and stuck it in rice.  Is there any hope for my hope?  If not, is there a way to fix it?

What a colossally bad idea!  To anyone reading this thread DO NOT DO THIS!!!  Once anyone other than an Apple Authorized Service Provider (and that doesn't automatically mean your carrier, just FYI) opens up the device, then ALL options from Apple are gone, permanently.

  • Cloning Oracle Applications Release 12 with Rapid Clone

    Hi,
I was going through metalink doc 406982.1 Cloning Oracle Applications Release 12 with Rapid Clone.
    I couldn't understand a few points.
I would appreciate if someone can guide me regarding the following queries.
There is a statement in the doc
1)An important principle in Oracle Applications cloning is that the system is cloned, rather than the topology ....
--What is meant by topology in this description?
2)The Cloning methodology posted on this document requires full Autoconfig complience.
    --didn't get this point.
3)Note: In the copying tasks below, UNIX/Linux users should ensure that the symbolic links (soft links) are preserved when copying. On most UNIX platforms, this can be accomplished with the cp -RH command. Consult the UNIX man page for the cp command to check the parameters available on your platform.
--what soft links are being talked about?will the regular cp -R  command not preserve the soft links?
4)For patching AutoConfig on the E-Business Suite R12 instance, AutoConfig needs to be enabled on both the applications tier and the database tier. (387859.1)
--HOw do I check if AutoConfig is enabled or not?
5)Why do I need to synchronize appsutil on database tier from application tier?
6)Why do we need to maintaain snapshot information?
    What does snapshot actually do?

  • Set up DB Connection Pool for Oracle DataBase Using Java App Server8

    Hi,
In the Admin Console of Java App Server 8, I tried to create a connection pool for the oracle database. I chose Resource Type to be "javax.sql.ConnectionPoolDataSource" and the Vendor is Oracle. So the Data Source Class Name is filled by the system to be "oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleConnectionPoolDataSource". Now, I set up the class path to point to the database driver class "sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver" and also the to the Data Source Class Name. Also I set up the JVM options in the console. Restart the server, and then try to ping to the database, but get the error:
Operation 'pingConnectionPool' failed in 'resources' Config Mbean. Target exception message: Connection could not be allocated because: No suitable driver
I don't understand what else I should do and why this error is coming?
    Please help me out.
    Thank you
    Regards,
    Sarah

    Hi,
I've already solve the problem. I did the following:
set the Url to be: jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostname:port:SID
    set username
    set password
add oracle.jdbc.drivers.OracleDriver into the JVM options -Djdbc.drivers
    restart the server
    test the connection
    it works :)

    -resource type: "javax.sql.XADataSource"
    -DatabaseName: "jdbc:derby:D:\\Programowanie\J2EE\domains\domain1\config\notesData"
-set no password and user, becouse i havet set this in database
and when i ping to that datebase i got error:"Operation 'pingConnectionPool' failed in 'resources' Config Mbean."
when i change Datasource Classname to: "org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDataSource", this error occur:
