Sell it to me

I admit I am completely new to Mac's, so I am learning as I go. I currently use iphoto and photoshop, I have Aperture, but why would I use it guys? I need convincing on whether I should somehow include it into my current working method.
What are the advantages, I'd be interested to hear others opinion?

I am new to Macs (having come from a PC background). I have been using a mixture of Adobe Bridge and Nikon Capture NX previously.
The reasons that I have switched to Aperature are as follows :
1. Image quality - The Raw files from a Nikon D200 look like they should; what I mean is that it seems to use some of the in camera settings that Adobe ignores.
2. It is easy to import, store and backup images. - You can continue working on something else while the images are being imported from your camera.
3. Full screen mode - Seeing is believing, a full screen mode that is really full screen and allows you to select, edit, adjust images at the same time.
4. Stacks - being able to automatically group images taken within a timeframe and then choose your favourite to use. You can hide the others but they are still there if you need them.
5. Editing is non-destructive.
6. Easy correction of white balance etc and the ability to easily apply the same adjustments to a whole group of files.
and that is just the start of the list !

    The license agreement that you will read carefully and agree to before installing Lion says that "you are granted a limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive license:"
    Thus, when you sell the Mac, you should sell it with the restore disks that came with the machine, and running the OS that is on those disks.
    That means doing an erase and install of whatever OS the machine came with.  For example, on my 2007 MacBook... that would bust the new owner back to Tiger.  Although... I would probably sell it with my retail box of Leopard, which could be the base OS for the new owner.

  • My Mac has broken and I want to sell it for parts. How can I be sure that my personal data that is/was on the hard drive is safe?

    My 2006 MacBook Pro has broken. There is a little bit of drive noise when I turn it on, but then nothing happens. It is no big deal. Most of my files were backed up. There are a few files I would like to recover if possible, but nothing worth a major effort.
    I have seen that broken MacBook Pro's go for about $300 on eBay for parts, so I would like to sell the MacBook Pro. However, I only want to do that after I am sure that my personal data is wiped out. Does anyone know how I can accomplish that? Does anyone know of an easy way to search the old hard drive for some of the data that I lost? Can a Genius Bar take care of this stuff for me (and how much do they charge?)?

    The ONLY real secure way to be sure that noone may recover data from your drive is, to remove the drive, and drill one or two 1" holes thru the disk.
    A bit less secure but useful way is, to wipe out the data with a tool that's overwrite all sectors of the drive with randomized data in multiple runs.

    Independent tests bring out, that even specialized recovery companies with forensic tools are unable to find useful data after such a run.

    Just to expand a little on Diane's post. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions and the iPod should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation.     I recently downloaded the new CS6 beta version of photoshop and since I am interested in stock photography I was wondering if it's legal and not againts Adobe's rules to sell photos edited in trial and beta versions of Photoshop? I mean, since you haven't bought them and just trying them out.

    The last time that I read the EULA, the only restriction on commercial or production work was on beta/pre-release software. So you could use the CS5 trial but not the CS6 beta.

  • How to Protect your Custom Access Database Product - so that you can sell & distribute it?

    I'm looking for an update on this topic as I have been away from Access for a couple of years and have not kept up with the latest.
    Hopefully they have made it easier to design, develop, sell and distribute custom database solutions. So here goes...
    Question A:
    If one develops a custom database product with Access 2013 what is the current best way to...
    1 - Prevent it from being (too easily) copied
    2 - Prevent it from being (too easily) reverse engineered
    3 - Prividing a time limited free demo copy?
    4 - Providing a demo copy with limited functionality... like limiting the number of records in an important table, or whatever?
    5 - What have I left out of this list that should be considered for protecting ones investment in the development of the product? (other than copyright, of course.)
    Question B:
    What is the latest on being able to migrate an Access database to the cloud?
    1 - Entirely online
    2 - Part in the cloud and part on the users machine
    3 - And what about all that VBA code - is there no way to make that work in the cloud and/or on a web server... or does it all have to be tossed and all the coding redone?
    Question C:
    What are other alternatives solutions for selling your custom database application while protecting all your investment in developing it?
    1 - Write the front end in C++  (so that it is fully compiled) and the back end in ASP with MS SQL Server? (or alternative server side solutions)
    2 - Write the whole thing as a server side solution with browser interface?
    3 - Or what?

    I have a desktop Imac that I bought in 2006 and would now like to sell. I also bought a laptop in 2007 that I prefer using. How do I remove the email and website subscription from the desktop model without messing up the laptop info? They seem to be connected at this point and I am not sure how to take off the information from one without damaging the other.

    Have you solved this problem? If not, can you be more specific? You can change the email account information using Email preferences. Which website subscription would you like to remove?

    There is no way around the activation lock. You apparently decided to use the phone with someone else's ID set up for an iCloud (and find my iPhone) account before updating. Since Find My iPhone was active, updating to iOS 7 has automatically turned on the activation lock. If you do not have the Apple ID and password that were previously used, then the phone is now useless. You can't activate it without that informaion.
    Talk to whoever you bought the phone from if you can. If you can't, buy a new phone.

    I want to sell my MacBook (1.83 GHz) to my roommate and buy the next model up (2.0), which was out of stock at the store when I purchased it. I bought this model because I was leaving for Japan in a few days and needed the laptop. I bought the MacBook in September of this year.
    Here's the problem. Well, problems.
    I live in Japan. I'm in the Navy. Will I be able to get a hold of Apple tech support to find out what to do?
    I've never sold or bought a used laptop before. Is there a way to "transfer" everything of mine to my new one, and then erase it from the old one, making it like new for my roommate?
    I just got the Protection Plan in the mail for my MacBook. Does this expire? I had a 90 day plan when I bought it, I now have the three year plan still wrapped in its box. Can I save it to use on the new laptop, or does it have to be used on this one? And if so, can it be put under her name? Or, should I just send it back for a refund and buy it again when I get the new laptop?
    How do I change all the licenses and usernames and such so it becomes "her" laptop?
    Not as important as the others: Should I wait until Leopard is released to purchase the new one? When will that be? Or does it really matter.
    I know these are tons of questions, but I need them answered, and it's difficult to find time (and money) to call tech support. I'm such a noob at this, as you can tell from my questions, but.

    Visit apple store in Japan area to talk with one of their apple guy.
    You can transfer your previous macbook files to your new macbook using firewire connection:

    For transfering your apple care, Iread somewhere it can be done but with additional fee that almost half of apple care cost, if that so, I recommend leave the apple care for her and get you another one. But if you never open or register that apple care to your macbook, then I guess you can use it for your new macbook (call apple care to make sure about that).
    AFter you transfer your files, it is safer to do format and re-install your old macbook os x so it wipe all of your old information and she get the "fresh" one.
    Leopard might be released on 2007, when? Nobody knows for now but estimated within first quarter of 2007.
    If you and she can wait, then wait for it .
    Otherwise you might spend another $129.99 or so for new Leopard.

But now, there is a processing circle on top of the logo, but the circle spins once, and stops at about halfway to the bottom. It just stays there, and about every half to one hour it becomes a white screen and starts all over again. (not the loading bar part, just the circle). I've tried holding the power and the home button, and it works, but it just goes back to the circle screen with the apple logo. HELP PLEASE?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Just got a new MBP and I want to sell my old one.

    The email I got from Apple says they will give me $500 for my 3 year old MBP.  I have a lock set but I do not remember how I did this or how to remove it, but when I want to make a change with the time, for example, I have to insert a mastercode.  it is the same code when that brown/beige lock comes up. It only shows up at different times when I am trying to make a change. The company that will take my computer neds all locks removed.  It does not show up when I want to make changes to System pref.  Does anybody know how I turn that off because the company who will buy the old MBP needs this master pasword/lock turned off.
    any suggestions on how to turn off the lock or set it so it does not show up anymore?  I think I found it under System Pref.---Security---Uncheck "Require a password..."  The locks are still there but so far the ones I have gone back to look at are unlocked.

    This is just the standard user password for your account. If you've forgot it, there are various ways to reset it, depending on which version of OS X you're running.

    Yes.  If you do it through the settings on the iPod and have an older iPod, make sure the iPod is charging either via a computer or wall charger.  It can takes hours to erase an older iPod.

  • Won't sell item at Store # 145 Heath Ohio. Said too busy to call Corporate

    On 12/13/14 around 7:30pm went to Best Buy Store # 145 Heath, Ohio. After looking to see what Amiibo's they had. I see they had one Diddy Kong on a hang tag(later confirmed it was actual Diddy Kong with SKU and price of 12.99 hang tag location). I went to check out and once the cashier scanned it for purchase a message on the register said can't be sold. She tried again and same thing. She called someone from gaming and he went to confirm where in store came from and then came back and said shouldn't be a problem. He tried scanning it himself and same thing. He went over to customer service and looked it up. He came back and said didn't see a reason can't be sold. He said will talk with the store manager and be right back. He came back and said the manager said can't be sold. He asked if still wanted it, I could talk with the manager myself. I said yes still want to purchase it. He went over the mic around his neck and said the customer wants to speak with the manager.
    Then a guy came to the front. He said was the manager (Jeramaha, sorry on spelling), he said as said before can't be sold. I asked why not, he first said was recalled and needs to be sent back. After asking why on shelf then, then said might not be entered in system correctly or something of that order and will need to be checked on with Corporate. He said for me to check back tomorrow. I told him over a hour drive away so just can't stop in to see why tomorrow. I said would you call Corporate now then. He said we are too busy to do that. I said what do you mean too busy. He repeated too busy but would put my name on it and hold it for me to pick it up tomorrow, so did that and he  attached my info to it. I said again hour away. He said it would be here for me then. I asked for his business card, he asked why. I said will need to contact Corporate then myself. He said why, can't sell something that can't be sold. I said, it's now not that. It's all the different reasons and not willing to check. He then said can get a store card on my way out at the desk at entrance
    I went to that desk(it's the security check desk). I asked a guy that was there for the card, he handed me a store card and asked why wanted it. I said the manager over there didn't have one. He said no I'm the manager and asked what's wrong. I told him trying to buy a item and they said can't sell it. He said let's go see why not. He went and got the item and then took me over to customer service. He went and looked on the computer and said can't be sold until 12/17 because it's not released yet. I asked why on shelf, said put out by mistake. I asked him why that guy told me to come back tomorrow to buy it, even knew over hour drive. He said don't know why he would do that, since can't be sold. I pointed to my info tag he put on it. He didn't say anything on that. I said that would be a wasted trip, he said good thing didn't do it. He proceeded to tell me can't be sold until then and didn't offer to hold it. I was dissappointed with that and then took my info tag back and left.
    Now wanted to add as too why posting on here:
    The first guy that represented himself as the manager had a Geek Squad shirt on and seem to just make up different reasons as to why not. That's why asked for him to check with Corporate.
    The response of too busy to call Corporate. To show how not busy that store was. There was two registers open and not once did they have me step away or take another customer. That's because all of that time with them checking on it, they didn't have any customers to ring out. The other lady at the next register wasn't even busy that she added that someone earlier came up with one and it wouldn't ring up. Even if too busy which wasn't the case, I feel should still do it for customer service.
    Then to tell the customer that recalled and will be sent back. Then a couple minutes later offer to take my info and hold it for me to pick up the next day. That makes no sense and made me feel, just making up as they go.
    Also to represent as the manager and wasn't, doesn't help. I don't even know if the other one was either, since he had a coat on.
    If something was put out by mistake that's fine. But to tell a cutomer will hold it and come back the next day to buy it and knowing they have over hour drive without knowing for sure could even be sold then. That's just wrong.
    Now as to the availability of this Diddy Kong Amiibo. Went to Gamestop right around the corner(right after leaving Best Buy 12/13) to check if they had it. They did, but sold the two that they had. The manager there named Ash said they are available to be sold and just hard to find, since so few sent to stores.

    Admittedly, the release dates and the coordination around Nintendo amiibo figures has been a bit of a challenge, to say the least. With release dates changing and there being so many different figures, it’s clear to me that some of our stores may have not been in a position to be able to speak confidently on what was going on with them, including putting figures out that aren’t yet able to be sold. What’s more clear to me is that your issue isn’t so much with the amiibo figures themselves, but how this whole situation was handled by the associates at the store. I sincerely apologize for the frustration you’ve endured here and I can’t thank you enough for sharing your experience in such great detail.
    We’ve received quite a bit of feedback in regards to the amiibo releases and we’ve been sharing this feedback with our gaming teams here at the Corporate Campus. However, I’m going to go one step further here and share your concerns directly with the leadership team at Store #145 in Heath, Ohio. If there was any misrepresentation going on, this is greatly frowned upon and there is absolutely no reason we should be misleading our customers and giving a false illusion of authority. While most of our associates should be able to assist with your issue, there are times a manager is needed and a manager is exactly what you should get when requesting one. I apologize further if you experienced otherwise.
    Lastly, I do apologize for the delay in response here. As you acknowledged, we’re a bit behind due to a higher Holiday volume and I regret that this gives the impression that we’re disregarding the situation. I absolutely assure you that’s not the case!

  • How to sell on an old copy of Logic

    I recently upgraded from Logc Pro 7 to Logic Studio. I had bought 7 only about a year earlier. Now it is sitting around doing nothing, in perfect condition complete with manuals etc. I'd like to sell it on but would need to include the XSKey. However I'd need that if ever I have to re-install Logic Studio. Is there any way around that so that I can let the XSKey go? Seems a shame to have 7 just go to waste and I read on another forum that it is acceptable within the licence agreement to sell on a complete boxed version. I phoned Apple and they said that the only way to do it would be to sell both 7 and the upgrade to Studio as a package and then buy a new version of the software but that seems a bit cumbersome and I'd probably end up losing money in the process. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Yes that all makes sense and I accept the situation. It's not so much that I want to make money out of it, it's more the waste. I mean I have been using Logic since version 3 and Notator before that and I still have the complete box set for version 5 as well as 7! The manuals, box and discs for 7 are all in virtually perfect condition. I finally binned the materials for version 4 about a year ago! It seems such a waste of perfectly good programmes, manuals etc.
    Anyway, no problem, I see where you're coming from and will just keep all the back copies in the ever-increasing archive. Thanks for your replies.
