SEM CPM - Management Cockpit

Hi Guys,
Currently we are working on creating SEM CPM management cockpit and the requirement is as follows,
1.we need to diplay one of the query result directly in the dashboard.(without any graph)
2.We need to create a table display with 3/4 KPI's which belong to different query(for the last 3 months). eg
     Month1 Month2 Month3
KPI1        x                 x              x
KPI2       x                 x              x
KPI3        x                 x              x
It would be great if you could help us on the same.

In my opinion, this tool cannot be used in Business Objects.

Hi,
Can the Cockpit used in SEM-CPM module can be created using Business Objects?.
if so, is there any documents or links which can give an idea?. I got an initial response from BO General forum that it cannot be done, but i would appreciate if this gets answered from this forum as well.

SEM-BSC is a product that has been sunset. The current SAP product for using the Balanced Scorecard is SAP BusinessObjects Strategy Management, (SSM).

Web Cockpit developent (SEM-CPM or VC or something else)

This question is intended for SAP Development team or Product management team. We are looking to make a strategic decision about the tool set to build BI Cockpit on the Web.
SAP has competing technologies, which can deliver the cockpit on the web and as a customer we need to make a choice that is right for at least next 3-5 years. We do not want to develop the cockpit using the technology that is not moving ahead with SAP development.
Our current environment: BW 3.5, EP 5.0 system. Plan to upgrade EP 6.0 in next 3 month.
As per my understanding, following are the tools that can be used for development of web cockpit.
1) Web Application Designer with or without any Java scripting.
2) SEM-CPM (Corporate Performance Monitor).
3) BSP (Business Server Pages) /HTMLB -
4) Visual Composer with EP.
Customers business team has seen SEM-CPM and inclined to use that. As a IT team we want to choice the right tool set.
Following are my questions:
1) SEM-CPM: Does it have good foot print at SAP Customer base? Is it good tool to develop the Cockpits as primary tool set? Is SAP developing this technology in the future? I have not seen any updated white paper or documentations in service.sap.com after 2003.
OR
2) Visual composer is the right tool. Visual composer allows the BW and Non BW Data presentation. For our purpose, all data will be in BW and BW queries will be the only source for the cockpit.
As IT team, we want to avoid using Java Script or other programming process because of the support & maintenance issues involve.
Please help and provide comment or suggestions.

Hi,
SEM-CPM is not a very flexible tool. We have to live with its limitations. We cannot customise to suit client needs. There are limitations in chart types also. If customer uses excel based charts for metrics currently, check whether they are possible thro' CPM. Please also check the latest version of SEM-CPM.
I would request to considering other alternatives as suggested ike Web cockpit based on Web Application Designer with or without any Java scripting.likes or BSP (Business Server Pages) /HTMLB or VC (not worked on this).

I have installed a SEM CPM for a client but I have a question: how can I conceed autorizations for a cokpit for some users?

You need to add the transaction to the cockpit in BW and than you need to make sure that the users are authorized to the authorization objects that are applied in the query that run in the cockpit.

Graphs in Management Cockpit SEM 4.0

Hello All,
We have upgraded our BW and SEM systems from 3.0 and 3.1b to 3.5 and 4.0 respectively.
We are now seeing a strange behaviour. In SEM 3.1b, while creating graphs in the management cockpit, we were able to assign specific colors for each column of a graph, say for example.. a custom color for Actuals and a custom color for planned amounts.
However, after the upgrade, we are unable to see any option to customize the columns in the graphs.
Am I missing something simple? Any and all help is deeply appreciated.

SAP - SEM-CPM (cockpit)

Hi all,
I have implemmented a SEM-CPM system in my company, what ussually was done in a 25 queries, now is done in a cockpit, but it lasts too much (around 8hours), and every user that wants to access to it, has to wait this time. Is there any way to keep these results for different users and sessions?
I know that it can be calculated evry logic view independiently, but I would like to execute every one at the same time, and keep this data for different ussers and sessions, so they can navigate throught a past calculation of results, and refresh these results as wanted. Is this posible?

Someone has suggested me "information Broadcasting".
But Information broadcasting is typically used to publish and persist reports for multiple users. Can this also be applied to SEM-CPM's results for the frames?
PLease, help me, it is quite important.

SEM Management Cockpit - "Data Last Updated On:" message

Dear gurus,
I would like to know if there is a way to suppress the message "Data Last Updated On: XX.XX.XXXX XX:XX" it the SEM Management Cockpit graphics.
It started to appear after a support package installation but it is not a desired info for our users.

Hi!
Got the solution! I had to enable the query for external access in the Extended Query properties. Post that the data source is being recognised in my SEM 3.5 managment cockpit.

SEM CPM - Dump when i tried to assign a variable

Hi Gurus,
Im working with SEM-CPM and i facing the following issue:
When i tried to assign a CPM variable in design mode it show up the following DUMP (during the preview of the Frame) :
"MESSAGE_TYPE_X" C- "ADD_DATA_TO_BUFFER"

I have an error message when use the UMM_PRES_WEB transaction for Management Cockpit (BW-SEM-CPM-MC): there are hieroglyphs in frame title instead of normal cyrillic when i'm trying to view some frames via WEB in russian language, or when i'm using english language i see normal text but it does't have right format. Another texts view correct even in cyrillic.

Did anybody ever implement CPM for a client? Did they want the Balanced Scorecard or only a few KPI's displyed? COuld you please tell me any pros and con's

Clients have needs for Management cockpit and balanced scorecard.In my experience if the client is not already follwing a Balanced scorecard method based on Excel kpi's,it is easy and better to go for the Management cockpit app.The KPI'S need to assigned to proper functional areas (i.e walls,views etc) to provide a coherent picture of the Enterprise or business area in question.You do not have to assign a specific person responsible for the KPI deviations.
However Balanced scorecard requires a designated person for the KPI or KPI's and is more of a stategy and change process.

I am new to SEM. I tried to search the forum for some documentation. Everyone referred to help.sap.com and service.sap.com/sem. In service.sap.com/sem I didn't find any documents for sem documentation. Help.sap.com doesn't have any examples.
My first task on SEM CPM is to create dashboards.
What is the best approach to learn CPM ?
