Send blob strait to user without file creation
I'm hope to find a way to take a PDF blob from my DB and send it directly to an end user without having to create a temp.pdf file.
Connection conn = ds.getConnection();
Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT file FROM tabe");
if (rs.next()) {
// retrieve PDF file
Blob pdf = rs.getBlob("file");
//stream to user
}i got the blob to atleast store in a variable easy enough, but the issue is streaming it to the user.
Blob pdf = rs.getBlob("file");
// setup the streams to process blob
InputStream input = pdf.getBinaryStream();
ByteArrayOutputStream output = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
// set read buffer size
byte[] rb = new byte[1024];
int ch = 0;
// process blob
while ((ch=input.read(rb)) != -1) {
output.write(rb, 0, ch);
// transfer to byte buffer
byte[] b = output.toByteArray();
input.close();
output.close();
I'll show the the code I would use:
public static synchronized int loadBlob( File pix )
throws NullPointerException {
if ( pix == null ) {
System.out.println(FILE_ERR);
return(0);
byte b = 0;
byte[] tempix = new byte[50000], // change to suite
pixels = null;
int idx = 0,
size = 0,
count = 0;
String pixName = pix.getName(),
// Note - substitute preparedStatement as desired - just an example.
// Note, in my case the filename is the ID used.
sqlS = "select"
+ " my_table_name.blob_thing"
+ " from my_table_name"
+ " where my_table_name.blob_id = "+pixName
+ " for update",
sqlI = "insert into my_table_name ("
+ " my_table_name.blob_id,"
+ " my_table_name.blob_thing )"
+ " values ("
+ " ?,"
+ " EMPTY_BLOB())";
Statement stmt = null;
PreparedStatement pstmt = null;
FileInputStream fis = null;
OutputStream os = null;
Blob blob = null;
ResultSet rset = null;
try {
* Insert initial row with empty Blob
pstmt = conn.prepareStatement(sqlI);
pstmt.setString(1, pixName);
count = pstmt.executeUpdate();
* Reclaim DB row
stmt = conn.createStatement(); // Connection aquired elsewhere.
rset = stmt.executeQuery(sqlS);
if ( rset.next() ) {
blob = rset.getBlob(1);
os = ((oracle.sql.BLOB)blob).getBinaryOutputStream();
fis = new FileInputStream( pix );
size = fis.read(tempix);
pixels = new byte[size];
for (idx = 0; idx < pixels.length; idx++)
pixels[idx] = tempix[idx];
os.write(pixels);
fis.close();
os.close();
conn.commit();/

Send quiz results for users without Internet access
We have a group of developers in India who do not have internet access. I have created an eLearning course in C4 with a quiz at the end. For most users, they take the course through our LMS and we can report results without a problem. However, we have a group of developers in India who do not have internet access. Is there a way to capture name and quiz results and send them via email? Alternatively, we can open up a port to access Connect, but I still need to report name and quiz results.
Thank you,
FGHello,
Are those users connected in a network? If yes, with the version of Captivate 5 (will be available shortly) it will be possible to have the results send and stored on a server.

Running Export without file creation
Has anyone come across a situation when running export shows up in the log file as if it is taking place but in fact no physcial file gets created. This is in Essbase 6.x and highter.Asad Ali Qureshi
Check the file hasn't gone somewhere else.Sometimes when exporting, even though you specify a file location, the file may be created elsewhere. Many companies now have home drives for each network user. At my last place my export files were always created in my home drive regardless of the file location I specified in my script.

How do i send a spreadsheet in numbers to a windows user without it being zipped?
How do i send a Numbers spreadsheet to a Windows user without it being zipped?
Hi Michael,
Windows (Excel spreadsheet app) will not open a Numbers document. In Numbers, Menu > File > Export To > Excel... and then send it.
It will most likely be zipped (a Numbers document is actually a folder of files that looks like a document).
If you are swapping spreadsheets backwards and forwards between Numbers and Excel, glitches will build up. Export and import are not perfect, but at least Numbers makes some attempt. Excel makes no attempt. You will be forever fixing those glitches.
Try Open Office or Libre Office (free) or use Excel for Mac to ensure compatibility.

JDBC: Send BLOB field to a file
Hi all,
I'm sending a JDBC record to a file but I'm wondering how I can send a BLOB (Binary large object) to a file.
Can anyone advise me how I can write such a file (eg a JPEG file) on a directory?
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Wouter.Hi,
I have found some java code that should help me write a BLOB column to a OS file:
* Method used to write the contents (data) from an Oracle BLOB column to
* an O/S file. This method uses one of two ways to get data from the BLOB
* column - namely the getBytes() method. The other way to read data from an
* Oracle BLOB column is to use Streams.
* @throws java.io.IOException
* @throws java.sql.SQLException
// public void readBLOBToFileGet()
// throws IOException, SQLException {
Connection conn = null;
String outputBinaryFileName1 = null;
File outputBinaryFile1 = null;
FileOutputStream outputFileOutputStream = null;
String sqlText = null;
Statement stmt = null;
ResultSet rset = null;

long blobLength;
long position;
int chunkSize;
byte[] binaryBuffer;
int bytesRead = 0;
int bytesWritten = 0;
int totbytesRead = 0;
int totbytesWritten = 0;
try {
stmt = conn.createStatement();
outputBinaryFile1 = new File(outputBinaryFileName1);
outputFileOutputStream = new FileOutputStream(outputBinaryFile1);
sqlText =
"SELECT image " +
"FROM test_blob " +
"WHERE id = 1 " +
"FOR UPDATE";
rset = stmt.executeQuery(sqlText);
rset.next();
image = ((OracleResultSet) rset).getBLOB("image");
blobLength = image.length();
chunkSize = image.getChunkSize();
binaryBuffer = new byte[chunkSize];
for (position = 1; position <= blobLength; position += chunkSize) {
// Loop through while reading a chunk of data from the BLOB
// column using the getBytes() method. This data will be stored
// in a temporary buffer that will be written to disk.
bytesRead = image.getBytes(position, chunkSize, binaryBuffer);
// Now write the buffer to disk.
outputFileOutputStream.write(binaryBuffer, 0, bytesRead);
totbytesRead += bytesRead;
totbytesWritten += bytesRead;
outputFileOutputStream.close();
conn.commit();
rset.close();
stmt.close();
System.out.println(

throw e;
} catch (SQLException e) {
System.out.println("Caught SQL Exception: (Write BLOB value to file - Get Method).");
System.out.println("SQL:\n" + sqlText);

But how I should import the package in order to use the BLOB datatype?
Thx already for your help!

Please can I know what is causing umask check failsFolks,
Hello. I follow the document "Oracle Grid Infrastructure Installation Guide 11g Release 2 (11.2) for Linux E22489-04" and do the following:
[root@rac1 /]#echo $SHELL
Output: /bin/bash
This means we need to edit Bash shell file .bash_profile.
[ora11g@rac1 ~]$vi /home/ora11g/.bash_profile
Add this line: umask 022
Then I save the file .bash_profile and reboot OS.
Then I run the following command:
[ora11g@rac1 grid] $ ./runcluvfy.sh stage -pre crsinst -n all -r 11gR2 -orainv ora11g -fixup -fixupdir /mydir -verbose
But the reusult is the same. The issue is not solved as follows:

Do any folk understand how to solve VM rac1 user profile creation mask problem ?

Merging reg files as a standard User without UAC prompt ?
I need to merge reg files as a standard user.
When I run regedit.exe as a standard user, I get an UAC prompt, thanks to the manifest file embedded in the .exe which requires privilieges elevation.
I would like to run regedit.exe as a standard user, without UAC prompt, to merge some .reg files in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER path (standard user has permissions to do so).
How could I do it ?
(I tried a dirty way to do so : I copied regedit.exe from Windows XP to an user folder on my Vista machine, and it works. It runs silently (after setting the compatibility mode to "Windows XP SP2") and merge correctely my reg file.)
Thanks in advance,
Thomas.
More info about manifest files :
http://channel9.msdn.com/Showpost.aspx?postid=209647

You can easily check this by viewing regedit.exe with notepad for example. Near the end of the exe, you will see this XML part :

Edit the registry and change
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\regfile\shell\open\command
to
reg import "%1"
Reg will import regfiles.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT is a registry key that is composed of merging the
following two keys.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes
with entries in HKEY_CURRENT_USER overriding entries in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
So to specifically edit for the current user only edit HKEY_CURRENT_USER and
for all users (that don't have a user entry) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
EG
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\regfile\shell\open\command and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\regfile\shell\open\command

My last Time Machine back-up is 45 days old and only of User Account files (not entire HD) and I must now reinstall Lion (via internet) without performing a new back-up. Will any new User Account files, since my last back-up, be lost when Lion reinstalls ?
Reinstalling OS X doesn't affect user data, provided nothing goes wrong. But it would be very unwise to assume that nothing will go wrong, especially if you're having (unspecified) system issues. You should try to back up all data before you reinstall or do anything else. There are ways to do that, even if you're unable to boot.
If your backups include only user files, you won't be able to access them in Setup Assistant. -

Edited by: 866673 on Jun 17, 2011 9:53 AMWelcome to the forum: please read the FAQ and forum sticky threads (if you haven't done so already), and ensure you have updated with your profile with a real handle instead of "866673".
You'll get a faster, more effective response to your questions by including as much relevant information as possible upfront. This should usually include:
<li>Full APEX version
<li>Full DB version and edition
<li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener)
<li>Browser(s)/version(s) used
<li>Theme
<li>Templates
<li>Region type
(although for your question only the APEX version is necessary).
Assuming you mean a user who can authenticate to an application that uses Application Express Account Credentials?
In APEX 4.0:
1. Go to Home > Application Builder > [Your Application ] > Administration > Create Users and Groups > Create User
2. Enter the User Identification information.
3. In the Account Privileges, specify:
User is a workspace administrator: No
User is a developer: No
4. Complete the rest of the form as necessary. -

Accessing blobs in private container without Shared Access Secret key
Is there any way to access blobs in private blob container without Shared Access Secret key ? i mean any User / Role based security or domain level security i.e only our domain should be able to access blobs in private container etc.
Actually i don't want to append SAS key after each blob url to access it, i want my container to be private and also i want to access each blob in that container without SAS key
any way currently available or planned in future release ?Hi Yazeem,
> That main page loads sucessfully but the js, css, xml files which this page accesses are unable to load because SAS key is not appended to their URL automatically.
If the main page is served by a http handler and the js, css, xml files are linked using relative address, these files will also be served by the http handler too. For example, if the http handler serves a page in address
http://xxx.cloudapp.net/blobproxy/index.html and the page links to a script file using tag
<script src="myscript.js"></script>, actually the browser will use address
http://xxx.cloudapp.net/blobproxy/myscript.js to access the script file. So the solution is to create a http handler to serve all requests to address
http://xxx.cloudapp.netb/blobproxy/*.
For test purpose, I made this sample. Please add a class file BlobProxy.cs to your web role project:
using System;
using System.Web;
using Microsoft.WindowsAzure.StorageClient;
using Microsoft.WindowsAzure;
namespace WebApplication2
public class BlobProxy : IHttpHandler
// Please replace this with your blob container name.
const string blobContainerName = "files";
public bool IsReusable
get { return false; }
public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context)
// Get the file name.
string fileName = context.Request.Path.Replace("/blobproxy/", string.Empty);
// Get the blob from blob storage.
var storageAccount = CloudStorageAccount.DevelopmentStorageAccount;
var blobStorage = storageAccount.CreateCloudBlobClient();
string blobAddress = blobContainerName + "/" + fileName;
CloudBlob blob = blobStorage.GetBlobReference(blobAddress);
// Read blob content to response.
context.Response.Clear();
try
blob.FetchAttributes();
context.Response.ContentType = blob.Properties.ContentType;
blob.DownloadToStream(context.Response.OutputStream);
catch (Exception ex)
context.Response.Write(ex.ToString());
context.Response.End();
Then please add this http handler to web.config file:
<configuration>
<system.webServer>
<handlers>
<add name="BlobProxy" verb="*" path="/blobproxy/*" type="WebApplication2.BlobProxy"/>
</handlers>
</system.webServer>
</configuration>
Before running the project, please replace blobContainerName with your own blob container that contains both html and related files. Then start debugging the Azure service project and then you can use the following address to access the page:
http://127.0.0.1:[port number]/blobproxy/[page name]
I above sample does not work for you, please let me know.
Thanks.

Sending newsletter to multiple recipients without using bcc:
Dear Mac users,
I would like to send out a newsletter to multiple recipients without listing all of the email addresses in the bcc: field. I know there are mail programs that will take a list and then send an email individually to each name on the list, one after the other. Is this function possible within Mac Mail?
Thanks in advance for all your help."Use Applescript. Prepare the message as a text file, run the script, it prompts you to select the file, it prompts you to select the group, then iterates through the list of group members sending a copy of the message to each separately. You could have it so that you could drop the text file on the script, saving a prompt."
Could you please explain that step by step. I am a new Mac user and have no idea how to use applescript or how to do that. I need to send a newsletter out to about a 130 people and want to send it to each person separately without doing it manually. I'm not sending it out as a text file though but as an image file, jpeg.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks for your help so far. -
Unable to send email to the users from Project Server Workflow
Hello all,
I am facing issues in sending emails to the users from the workflow in SharePoint Designer 2013.
I am trying to send emails to valid users in a Project server 2013 Workflow by Email action.
I have set up the SMTP server successfully, I have configured SMTP server successfully in IIS manager 6.0
I have configured the outgoing e-mail settings in Central Administration successfully,
I have configured the SMTP email settings for my web app in IIS manager as well.
I have configured and synced the User Profile App with the eMail addresses from Active Directory as well.
I have configured the Alerts and Reminders in Operational Policies of PWA settings as well.
I can send the emails to the users successfully through Powershell.
But when I am trying to Start a Task Process with a user in the workflow, the task process starts but it never sent an email notification. So I tested by using the Action Email, that also the user is unable to receive any email. But the Workflow is not giving
any error also. The email sending is successful, but the user is unable to receive it. The workflow succeeds to next phase without any errors.
So to cross verify I tried 'Alert Me' option on a list, but that also is not sending(or might be sending but the user is not receiving) the mail.
What else should I do to solve this issue.
Please help me.
Thanks,
ShankyHello Paul,
I tried editing the PWA instance as you said, but that also didn't help :(
I even restarted the Project Server Service, but nothing is changed.
I tried creating a new workflow for a List and used send email there, but that also is not sending the mail :(
How do I check where the issue is from ? I mean, whether the workflow is sending the mail and the mail server is not receiving? or whether the workflow is not sending the mail itself? how do I check this? Is there any way to log these details?
Please help me regarding this issue, I am totally clueless how to proceed.
Thanks,
shanky
