Send Governor locks up

Hi All,
I am having issues with the send governor and i was wondering if you could give me a hand. I have a handful of users sending big input sheets to the system and the send governor (SG) gets stuck with their requests and never completes their submits. The only way to get the system going again is to restart the SG, but this is less than ideal. I have followed the BPC 7 configuration guide and made the appropriate changes to the AppSet settings. They are:
THREAD_MAXNUM_SG: 1
INTERVAL_CHECK_SEND: 2000
MAXCELLS_THREAD_SG: 1000000
UNITPER_SP: 1000000

I was told by SAP that the Send Governor problem is "buggy" an that it requires a restart from time to time.
So I created a "Restart Send Governor Service" SSIS package.
It consists of an Execute Process task, which uses net.exe to stop and then start the service.
Here's a screen shot for those interested:

The cool thing is that I integrated this package with our nightly optimize so that it restarts the SG after the optimize task completes. With this "preventative maintenance", we haven't needed to manually restart the send governor since we implemented this package.

Send Governor hanging issue on multiserver environment

HI Experts,
We really don't know how to overcome this send governor issue, in two days servers bounced 6 times to fix the send governor hanging isue.
we are on BPC 7 MS, SP5, Multiserver environment(Two appservers and one database server)we have been using the prod system for 6 months without any issues, recently we extended the logic to execute for more periods,then started facing the issue of one of the appserver goes down automatically (most of the times appserver02) while users send data using input shchedules and sometimes we see the locks in lckapp table, during this time users can't loginto the system untill restart the com+ services ,send governor service and teboot of servers.
we are able to clear out the locked members from lckapp tables and users are able to resend it.
why does appserver go down automatically ? what should be the reason ? How to fix this kind of issue?
any help should be appreciated greatly!

Hi,
I think here we are speaking about performances and design of application.
I don't think doing an upgrade will solve your problem because I don't know any fix for SG after SP5.
How are you running the logic?
Do you have DM package or we are speaking about default logic?
Do you have multiple users running the lDM packages with logic?
Do you have the logic schedule?
Do you have lite optimize schedule? How often?
Answers to all these questions will provide you a better information regarding the root cause of this issue.

E61 defect. Sending SMS locks UI for 20-30s.

TS4006 Find My Phone... send sound, message, lock or erase? All I get on the site, and the app is the map. My issue is "How To" send sound, lock, erase, etc

How do I send a sound? Lock? Erase? On iCloud web site Find My Phone link there is only the map. No links or any other instruction. Please tell me where to find this information. If I lose my phone I need to be able to use my computer to go to iCloud.com and use these features not just locate it on the map.

Just my $0.02 worth - relying on remote tracking to lock an iPhone after it goes missing is completely false security. The time to put the passcode lock into effect is now, while you have control of the devie. Once it is gone, by the time you log in and try to lock it, it may be far too late and someone will have had complete access to your device and all its content for some time.
According to the FBI, one of the greatest reasons for growing smartphone theft is identity theft and the content on the device, since theives know that statistically, most smartphones are not secured at all - wide open to them the minute they get their hands on them. So, then they steal your identity, sell or use it, and sell or use your iPhone. Doubly good payday for them.

N91 - Sending SMS, locks phone

When sending a normal text message the whole phone locks up while it is actually transmitting the the message.
None of my other phones has ever done this.
eg. i used to be able to send a text then carry on working on something else on the phone whilst it sent the message in the background.
Is this an N91 issue, can it be changed?

It is not a problem with your N91 however some users have had this problem and there is speculation it is some kind of memory leak (ie sw takes up a little memory over time and slows down). I did get this from another forum
11) SMS starting to get sluggish? - I found this in an N80 forum. Enter *#7370# (lock codee 12345) and this cleans up the phone memory BEFORE you do see step 6 above about backing up you phone and HDD memory
6) When backing up your phone use PC suite to back-up your phone memory (ROM) and USB mass storage for the HDD (PC suit eis too slow and seems to have issues with large amounts of data). Copy over what you want from your HDD to the PC (Music, Images, Contacts, Videos, Documents etc) BUT do not just grab all the folder move to the PC. Applications need to re-installed properly and should not just be dragged and dropped back to the PC. Also beware in copying installed applications (eg the actual folders and files not the SISx file) from an MMC/SD to the HDD. The N91 on start up may see these as incomplete installation and will start to install them. Use the proper installation of SISx files! (its like a PC you must install things properly!)

Send Timesheet Locked/Disabled for Resource

A resource's timesheet has been disabled/locked in the periods that he's missed. He did not have this issue about two weeks ago submitting missed timesheets. As of today, the send timesheet button is disabled/greyed out. The send status however is available.
I tried deleting/recreating timesheet but still does not work on all of them. Please note that when I recreate the timesheet it automatically adds the 40 hours for the week, is that normal? I have checked and periods are OPEN for these weeks. I am running
out of ideas of why this is causing his timesheets to not send. A while back, he had an error on a timesheet that I recently rejected and deleted/recreated if that provides any hints.

Seems this is bug in MSPS 2013, you can Recall TS to
Identify
Assignment rejected task
by process status as "Rejected" and the it's cells in the Task Entry
grid would be read-only, As temporary workaround you can select that task and
click on “Remove Task” from option Ribbon.
Now you would be able to submit timesheet without any error.

IPhone 4s recorded voice memos failing to send and locking memo app.

I am using an iPhone 4s 16gb with the latest ios. When I record a voice memo, and then try to send it via iMessage it often fails to send. It does not provide any error messages but what will happen is, I will push the "send" button and the phone will sit there doing nothing for a second then the memo will disappear having not actually send anything. This causes me to have to reboot the phone or I can not send recorded memo's via any message format. (ie text, imessage, email) Is this a known issue? Is there a fix?

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.

Reg: JDBC Sender Adapter Locking everytime

I am facing one issue regarding Sender JDBC Adapter.
I already gone through few SDN LInk and followe the SAP Note 1083488 and few other links and blogs but there is no Use.
I already kept JDBC SENDER>Advance>TASKTIMEOUT = 0 because as per the above note if I am keeping more than 0 then due to some server issues It is difficult to identify the adapter behaviour so I kept 0
Can you please let me know any other Alternate way to identify this solution.

Concurrent Locks interactions with EvDREs and EvSNDs

Hi All,
I know that concurrent locks prevent different users from submitting data to the same intersection.
My question is: Does BPC consider data being submitted via an EvDRE and an EvSND as being submitted by different users?
IE: if data is sent by the same user from the same schedule to the same intersection (as defined in the concurrent lock) via an EvDRE and also an EvSND, will the one set of data be rejected?
Eg:
Concurrent Locks set on: CostCentre,Time,Category but NOT on Employee.
EvDRE
Employee1,Costcentre1,March,Budget,1000.00
EvSND
Employee2,Costcentre1,March,Budget,1000.00

Just one followup to clarify: I believe what matters is what INTERSECTIONS are being sent to. If I understand BPC correctly, 100 different users could send to 100 different intersections at the same time with no record locking issues, and again it doesn't matter which user is using an EVDRE or an EVSEN or an EVSND or if the same user is using an EVDRE and EVSND at the same time.
It is the Concurrent locks that prevent any two users from sending to the same members whose dimensions have concurrent locks set up in Admin for at the same time... That is what prevents multiple sends to the same intersection at the same time. It is the members that are locked within the Dimensions that have concurrent locks that the Send Governor locks, not the user, so no, one user could not send to the intersection twice at the same time. The send governor would send one of those rows first and the second row next and therefore whichever amount was sent last to the intersection would be the one that wins.
This is why it is often advised to set up one or two concurrent locks for your applications to prevent simultaneous sending to the same intersection at the same time.

Error when communicating with server, and locked fields

Hi there,
I am having a really weird, and annoyingly intermittent, problem.
I'm trying to write a single value to my application via an Input EVDRE, for testing purposes. I've been doing this all morning (admittedly to a different application set but still...) but this time when I "send and refresh", it takes ages before coming back with this error:
"An error has occurred while communicating with the server"
Further more, if I look at the table "dbo.lckFinance" there is now a locked field in the database for this specific category and time. So a user without access to a DBA (or the database, in my case!) would be stuck now - even if the communication problem was solved, they couldn't post anyway.
The application is not part of appshell, we are running BPC version 7.0.112 on SQL Server 2005.
I've looked in the Event Viewer on the server and found nothing untoward there.
Any idea what is happening and how I can avoid this in future? The communication thing is obviously a problem, but I'm just as concerned by the locking.

If you have problems with the network this has to be solved.
I don't think we can have a software working if a cable was unplug ).
We advice our customer to use citrix servers in case if the latency into network is high (more than 200 ms) and of course in case of loosing packages.
But I don't think the problem in your case is related to the network.
It seems in your case it was a problem of send governor.
This can have problem when the cube and dimension are not syncronize or you have an error in one of dimensions.
Also can you check the table sgqueue if you have any record there when nobody is sending data?
If you have records there then you have to delete these records.
Check also tbl"your application"lock if you have records.

'Same' time for concurrent lock

Dear all,
According to the BPC Admin Guide, it says that "Concurrent locks prevent users from sending data to the same data intersection at the same time". But how long is this 'same time'? And is there a way for us to change or view this setting?

By default dimensions used for locks are: Time. Category, Entity.
Of course into admin console you can add more dimensions for lock if this is necessary.
To come back to your question.
An user is lock for very short period of time. Maximum time to be lock is INTERVAL_CHECK_SEND (by default is 3000 ms).
This parameter can be found int appsets parameters (or if it is not there then it is using the default value mentioned before).
This parameter is used by Send Governor service responsable for send data.

Send File Error

I am not sure if it is just me and my computer but that's why I am asking. Does anyone else have a problem with sending files (lock documents) over the send file option on iChat? I have never successfully sent a file to another iChat or any IM account. I can set two computers side by side and try to send a file from one to the other and I always get an error after it trys to start up and attempts to send it, it always comes back with error and does not send. Anyone know what I might be doing wrong or how to fix it? Thanks

There are two main ways to send files.
Ading to the TExt line in a Text chat and by Dropping them on a Buddy's name is the Buddy List.
Have you tried both these ?
As Defcom says with some newer devices they don't seem to like two protocols on the same port.
IChat logs in to the AIM server on the TCP protocol on port 5190 and sends files (and certain Text chats) on the UDP protocol.
Changing the port in iChat seems to help.
If that does not fix it can you tell us what ports you have open in the device you connect to the Internet with ?

How to scroll lock on a mac

Looking to upgrade my mac and was wondering if the new mac book pros have the capability to scroll lock. I need this feature for programs I use at home for work. Thanks I know it's a silly question but it is not easy possible to do on my older macbook.

In your case the "app" is GoToMyPC. See if GoToMyPC has a option to "send key". I use LogMeIn, which has a send ctrl-alt-del, but not send Scroll Lock. Hopefully GoToMyPC does, which would be best in your situation.
Otherwise there are only two ways I know of to do what you want from within OSX:
Use Windows' onscreen keyboard on the office computer. (Start, All Programs, Accessories, Accessibility. Different versions of Windows may have it in slightly different locations.) With a large screen on a desktop, this may be acceptable. (On LogMeIn, I can have the host screen "fit" or zoomed in to my remote screen's size, which makes the onscreen keyboard usable for me.)
Microsoft Remote Desktop. The Mac app for Remote Desktop Connection (sometimes known as Remote Desktop Protocol or Terminal Services) has an option that you can map keys. I verified that Scroll Lock is possible. Due to the limited number of keys on the Macbooks, you'll have to find something that's not in use by either OSX or Windows. (For example, in the test, I used Shift-F12 for Scroll Lock.)
The catch with 2) is that you'll need to be able to configure port forwarding on your company's firewall, or preferably have a VPN. While a VPN is more complex to setup, IMHO a VPN is necessary because of some vulnerabilities discovered with the older version of the protocol, which the Mac client still uses.
The only other option would be not running OSX when connecting to the office. Note, this does not necessarily mean getting a PC. You could install Windows in Boot Camp. You'd still have the problem of no actual Scroll Lock key on the Mac, but since OSX is not running, any full sized keyboard plugged into the Mac would then send the F14/Scroll Lock key correctly to the office computer. (Or running Windows in a virtual machine, but there are limitations with that as well, although the VM is more convenient in that you don't have to boot "out of" OSX like you would with Boot Camp.)

Can't send data after updating to 5.1 SP5 : "SendGovernor failed"

Hi,
I updated from 5.1 SP3 to SP5, followed the migration steps (saving each apps).
When I want to send data in my application, I get a Send Governor Error : "CommitTrans::Send through SendGovernor failed;".
It works fine in ApShell.
Any idea ?

After upgrade you have save all the application to complete the upgrade.
Also I suggest to process all dimensions because usually that error message is coming when something is not consistent in your appset.
If this will not solve your issue then I suggest to go into C:\BPC\websrvrs\Logging and to check that logs because the information from there can be very usefull.

It is possible if you activated Find My iPhone before you lost the device and it is connected to an active internet connection. You can log into iCloud.com and send a lock/wipe request to the device. If it shows offline, then it will hold the request until the next time the device is online.
