  • Can you send e-mails from ipod touch using a .mac alias?

    hi everyone,
i have a number of .mac email aliases set up on my email account, for instance for signing up to websites. when i send e-mail on my mac, i can select which alias i want the e-mail to be sent from. however, i don't seem to have that option on my ipod touch - mail is automatically sent from my main mac.com e-mail address.
is there anyway to send e-mail from one of my .mac aliases on my ipod touch?

Not at this time, no. You can submit a feature request to Apple:

  • Sending e-mail on ipod touch

I use road runner for my e-mail. Sometimes when I've connected to a wi fi other than my own, I'll receive e-mail, but won't be able to send. Is there something unique about road runner, or do I need some specific setting on my ipod touch

A couple of nights ago I spent almost two hours online with the roadrunner techs. They don't really have any way of helping with the iPod issue because they don't have any data for iPod or iPhone but we went over the settings with a fine tooth comb. Both the settings on my iPod (as much as we could tell) and my desktop were correct. It seems so strange that we have the exact opposite problem. For me it seems a little more strange because I used to be able to send mail from my iPod at home using my roadrunner account. Now I can't send it at home at all but I can send it from everywhere else. I'm assuming you have talked with roadrunner. What did they have to say? Anyway, if I figure anything out I'll let you know. The funny part is that even if I figure out what my problem is it still may not solve yours. Good luck!

  • Problem Sending e-mail from iPod Touch 4g through yahoo and gmail

The weird thing is, I get e-mail fine on my iPod from both yahoo and gmail, and send fine from one or two wifi networks, but can't send at all from one or two OTHER networks, even though the internet works fine on all of the networks I connect to, and I can perform other actions. Tried resetting my network settings, has not helped. Any ideas?

Sounds like the network's firewall or other security feature is blocking the ports used for sending the emails.
What type of neworks do not work? A businees network?

  • E-mail with ipod touch

Can one use e-mail on ipod touch? If so how? Can you use MS Outlook? If not how can you access your e-mail?
    Thanks

There is no "built in" email software. You can use Safari to check email online though. Gmail and .Mac work well. I can check my Groupwise and outlook work accounts because they have a web based interface. Most employers provide a web based interface.

  • Will apple send me a new ipod touch if they cant repair the screen

will apple send me a new ipod touch if they cant repair the screen

No.  They will likely replace your iPod with a refurbished iPod of the same model and refurbish yours for later use as a replacement if it is economical to do so.

  • I can't get e-mails on iPod touch 1st gen. Error message that I have either incorrect username or password for Mac acct. checked settings both are correct.  Can get e-mails on iPad

I can't get e-mails on iPod touch 1st gen. Error message that I have eithermy password or username is incorrect.  Checked settings both are correct.  Can get e-mails on iPad

Try deleting the account from the iPod and reentering the settings.  It is easy to make an error and notbe able find it.

  • Cannot send email from icloud, iPod touch w/ iOS 5

i Opened up an icloud account for my daughter. I set it up on her iPod touch as well. When I log into iCloud on the web, click mail I can send an email but I can't receive an email. the error message states ( from my ipad for example when I send her an emil) that the recipient (daughters email addy) was rejected by server because the user is unknown. Anyone with any ideas that may help
    Thanks
    Dave.

I have been having the same problems for the last two days now.  It won't let me send, but it will let me save it to my drafts folder.  I even tried opening the e-mail form my iPhone 5 and it won't let me send it there either.  The last two times i ended up copying the contents from my failed e-mail on my phone and pasting that into a new e-mail and that works.  I normally use the icloud web app to reply to e-mails when i'm at work (using win 7) and it is very frustrating.

  • Cannot set up mail on iPod Touch using Mac's AirPort WI-FI.

This is FYI. My problem has been fixed so this might help someone. I could not set up my mail account on my new iPod Touch using my home Mac's AirPort WI-FI. I do not have a separate wireless router. I am running Tiger OSX 10.4.11 with an iMac. Safari and You Tube, etc. on the Touch was working fine. I kept getting "cannot connect using SSL" and "POP server...is not responding." I found out, by myself, that if I turned off my firewall on the Mac, my email account set up and I could receive and send emails. I also found out if I set up the account on another WI-FI, it would work. I don't like to turn off the firewall, so I won't check my email on my Touch using my Mac's WI-FI.

    A bit more info...
    The error message says -
    Cannot Send Mail
The connection to the outgoing server "smpt.me.com" failed.
    My server setting is smpt.me.com
    SSL is turned on.
    Port 587
    Sever is turned on
All the settings below the server on/off switch are greyed out so i cannot edit them myself.
The ipod touch is brand new yesterday and up to date with the latest software.

  • I can receive mail on Ipod Touch 2g, but cannot receive

Recently, I changed my password on my e-mail account. I updated it on my Ipod Touch 2g. After updating it, I can receive mail, but I cannot send it. I have not noticed any separate settings for outgoing messages. Is there any? If not, why might it not allow me to send mail if I already updated the password?
It is probably not a connection issue, as I have had the same issue at different locations on different connections.

The outgoing mail setting/server is in the Setting for that mail account. It is likely an SMTP server.

  • Update 1.1.4 screwed up ability to send Comcast mail

After I updated to 1.1.4, my Comcast will receive, but not send, mail. I receive a message saying: "Cannot Send Mail. The connection to the outgoing server 'smtp.comcast.net' failed.
i checked my Comcast mail settings and my host name, username and password are correct in both the incoming and outgoing mail servers.
Everything worked fine ... until I updated to 1.1.4.
    Anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

I'm in my house, trying to send from my own Internet connection.
BTW, when I updated to 1.1.4, it wiped out my user name and password from my outgoing mail server in my iPod mail settings. So the update did do something. I restored the user name and password, but still can't send e-mail.
I am able to send and receive e-mail from my desktop computer, but can't send mail from my iPod. It's very frustrating.

  • I can't send emails with my iPod Touch

My son has an iPod Touch and recently won't send emails.  He can receive them, but he just can't send them.  A message just comes up saying that the server is rejecting his address.  Last week it was working fine.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Afisherman,
    Thanks for the quick response.
I did call my ISP and he said the Port should be set at 25, it was defaulted at 995. I changed it to 25 and after that I couldn't receive or send mail.  Since Christmas, he was receiving and sending mail, no problem, on Port 995, it just started doing this.  So I set it back to 995 so he can at least receive his email.  I've talked to a few people and they have been having issues with their email on their iPods.  I think it may be our ISP.  Might just get him a Gmail account.  What do you think?

  • Problem replying in yahoo mail using iPod touch

    Hi,
I am not able to to reply to emails using yahoo mail configured in ipod touch, I have this message : Cannot Send Mail The connection to the outgoing server "(null)" failed.
But I'm able to send mails when not replying. What can I do to solve this problem?
    Thanks
    Pat

I had the same problem with Yahoo! Mail but even worse I found that I simply could not send any mail at all. The problem only arose this week after installing the new (1.1.4) software upgrade.
I had originally set up Yahoo! Mail using the option given on the Mail screen and it worked perfectly until the upgrade, which may just have been coincidental, I suppose. But I was then unable to send any mail at all. I deleted the e-mail account and then reapplied it but not by opting for the Yahoo! option on Mail and instead set it up as an 'Other' POP account, being sure to deactivate SSL and instead go for Password verification. From what I gather this is just how you would set up a Yahoo! Mail account for MacMail and this basically applies the advice that BT gives for Yahoo! Mail users with a Mac.
It then worked fine, but I lost the really cool real-time sync with Yahoo! Mail which I had had previously.
I have since managed to get Yahoo! Mail working again properly by simply trying and trying and trying to reapply the account as a true Yahoo! Mail account on the Mail icon and eventually it gave in to my dogged persistence.
    Good luck.

  • Mail on ipod touch without wifi

    hi,
I think I know the answer, but I want to be sure: if I have an ipod touch with mail, will I only be able to use it when there's (free) wifi around? I'm asking because the ipod touch sounds great, but I want to be able to use it everywhere. (so then I need an iphone I guess?). Or is there another way of connecting it to the internet?
    thanks.

You can download and send messages while on WiFi, however you can still view and compose message while you aren't on WiFi, and then send them when you get back into range.
