Sending Mail through SMTP server

Hi
I am trying to sent the mails through smtp server but but my smtp server is not reponding, I tried to delete the account & recreated the accounts & the smtp server but unable to do that, but creating the same mail account & same smtp server works in different laptop. can any one guide me how to correct the problem & repair it.
Thanks in advance for the support.

There are a couple of things you might check:
make sure that you have the server name entered correctly (for example, stmp.gmail.com)
make sure that if you have to override the default port that you have
make sure that if SSL is required to connect that you've this option ticked, and
make sure that if you need to provide a user name and password to access the server that you have.
Other than that, that's about all that I can think of.

  • SMICM error while sending mail using SMTP server

    Hi All,
We are not able send mails using SMTP server.
We have made every settings necessary in SCOT, SO16 , SMTP service is activated, default domain is maintained etc
Only things which seems to be wrong is in SMICM trace file.
    [Thr 13] *** ERROR => NiBufIConnect: non-buffered connect pending after 5000ms (hdl 29;10.26.24.44:1090) [nibuf.cpp    4608]

This error is getting repeated in it.
BUt I am not sure why it it trying to hit 10.26.24.44, as we dont have any server by this ip. The ip is only not resolvable from the server.
1 more thing, at OS level, following parameter is maintained in profile :
    icm/server_port_1 = PROT=SMTP,PORT=25000,TIMEOUT=180
But in SCOT, under SMTP node PORT is given as 25.
Kindly let me know what going wrong here?
    Thanks

  • I send mail via SMTP server with Hebrew text, and I get it gibberish on my iphone

I send mail via SMTP server with Hebrew text, and I get it gibberish on my iphone

What mail program from what kind of computer are you sending your email?  It sounds like an encoding problem that would have to be solved on the sending end.   If you want, send me an example of the kind of email which arrives as gibberish on your iphone (tom at bluesky dot org).

  • Can someone help me send mail using SMTP server?

I am having the most frustrating problem with SMTP outgoing email account.  I use GoDaddy's Webmail (smtp.secureserver.net) and I receive all my emails through Apple Mail but I cannot send any.  I haven't been able to for about two weeks now, aside from 3 or 4 fleeting windows of time when I could.  Almost all of the time I try to send my emails, an error message says my outgoing account is offline.  I've been on the phone with GoDaddy's tech support three times this week and did everything we could think of, which include these steps:
-Force Quit Apple Mail --> Restart Computer
-Change Default Ports to a specific one and uncheck "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)"
    -Check "Use only this server"
-Delete account completely from Apple Mail and re-load (which I had to go into Time Machine to recover messages, and lots a bunch in the process ugh!)
Nothing works!  I depend on this email for my business, and I rely heavily on Apple Mail for this account.  All of my other email accounts that I pull through Mail work fine, but of course they are not SMTP outgoing.  Please help...I feel like I've tried everything and nothing works permanently.

At this point there are 2 possible causes to your problem:
    Apple Mail
Connectivity between you and the SMTP server
I can't help with (1) as I use Thunderbird as my mail client (the biggest advantage being I can take my mail files and move between different versions of Mac OS X). If you suspect that your problem is due to Apple Mail, then using another email client to send a test message will prove the point. If it works, then the problem lies with Apple Mail and somebody else will have to chip in. If it still fails, then there may be connectivity issue between you and the mail server.
If you google "telnet smtp test" (without the quotes), you will find many articles showing you how to test an SMTP connection using telnet. Don't be put off by the fact that many of the articles assume you are running Windows. The only Mac bit you need to know is that telnet is a command line utility accessed via Terminal. The rest is generic.
Telnet will allow you to interact with the mail server a line at a time and show you exactly what and where the problem is. If you get an unexpected response from the server, go back to GoDaddy and show them the output. If you don't get any response at all (i.e. "telnet smtpout.secureserver.net 25" just hangs), then take it up with your ISP as you are simply not getting through to the server.
    Good luck.

  • Can't send email through SMTP server

As some others have reported, I recently started having problems sending emails (most of the time) through my regular smtp server (receiving is not an issue). Once in a while it does go out, but most of the time I get a message "Can't send message using the server smtp.XXXX.com". I know it's not the smtp server as I can go out with my browser and use webmail and it sends fine, using the same server.
It only affects this one main email account - my other accounts seem fine (including gmail, mac, and another pop accounts), at least so far.
It is extremely frustrating - saw a whole lot of ideas for fixing it (changing ports, etc.), but don't want to mess up all the accounts that are working. I'm a long time Mac user, but not a real techie.

I know it's not the smtp server as I can go out with my browser
and use webmail and it sends fine, using the same server.
This is wrong. Whether you can send via webmail has nothing to do with whether you can send using a standard mail client such as Mail. The outgoing server that ends up delivering the message may be the same in both cases, but the outgoing server you communicate with is not. Actually, when sending via webmail you don’t even use SMTP to communicate with the outgoing server.
There are circumstances under which you may not be able to send using a standard mail client such as Mail no matter what you do (e.g. because the ports needed for SMTP are blocked by the ISP at the location you’re trying to send from), whereas webmail works fine — and may be your only option in those cases.
If it works sometimes, that means your account settings are probably correct, but you cannot discard that there is a problem with the outgoing (SMTP) server that Mail has to communicate with, even if sending via webmail works fine.
    <hr>
That said, go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Leave checked (enabled) only the port configuration needed to connect to Internet and Built-in Ethernet (in that order if not the same), uncheck (disable) the rest of network port configurations and see whether that helps — if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.
Try using a different method to connect to Internet, if possible, or connecting the computer to Internet as directly as possible (i.e. bypassing any routers that might be present, using an ethernet cable instead of wireless, etc.), or shutting down both the computer and the router/modem used to connect to Internet, restarting, and see whether that makes a difference.
Mail keeps information about outgoing (SMTP) servers in a separate list independently of the mail accounts themselves. The account settings just associate one of the available outgoing servers with each account. Orphaned or dangling outgoing server entries (i.e. not associated with any account) sometimes cause weird sending problems.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), choose Edit Server List from the popup menu, and delete any servers that shouldn’t be there — the Edit Server List panel shows the account each outgoing server is associated with.
If the problem persists and you have more than one mail account, try moving the account that has the problem to the top of the list in Preferences > Accounts.

  • Database mail is not sending mail through SMTP TLS

    Hello,
I have strange issue with SQL 2012 and Database mail. For some reason server refusing to send email over SMTP TLS. The only error reported to log is below which is completely  useless (shame on you Microsoft for that).
    I verified that there
    1. No networking issues between server and SMTP relay host (Installed Windows Mail and sent mail through it)
    2.  That account and password is right (verification same as above)
    3. That mail engine itself is working (verified through plain SMTP relay through local box itself)
I made a network capture of the process as well and it showing SQL server making initial TLS connection successfully to SMTP relay box and then never sending any data over established TCP connection and eventually timinig out after 60s with no data being
    sent).
    Any ideas?

The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 2 (2015-01-04T02:03:33). Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (Failure sending mail.).

I looked at both locations mentioned and there is nothing there to tell exactly what is the problem. Again I see on network capture that connection IS established, just no data is being sent.
Relay is done through AWS relay server so there is not an issue on their side. Again I tested this scenario via Windows Mail client installed directly on SQL server, so any issues on the other side (like connectivity, timeouts, AV interferences are ruled
    out since Windows Mail works).
Email error log supposed to have details about failure in last brackets, the one which in my case contains fuzzy "Failure to send mail". It supposed to say "unable to establish connection", "timeout expired" etc if there were
any issues on the other side. I have found a lot of reports of those issues on this forum where issue is explicitly stated in error message. In my case there is ZERO information about the issue. Mark Russinovich has excellent presentations where he talks about
useless error messages and this is certainly one of them.
    Failure sending mail.

  • Problem trying to send mail through different server

My "home" internet access is through Comcast, and my e-mail address is at comcast.net. I am periodically in another state with an internet DSL service through Verizon. I am not able to send e-mail using Mail 2.1.3 (and my Comast e-mail address) through Verizon...I get a message saying it was rejected by the server. Is there a simple way to overcome this problem?? Using the Comcast site to send mail is very awkward and time consuming. I would really like to be able to just use my usual Mail program and send the mail through the Verizon connection, but with my comcast address. Thank you very much in advance for any assistance!

I am not able to send e-mail using Mail 2.1.3 (and my Comast e-mail address) through Verizon...I get a message saying it was rejected by the server.
Which port do you have set in Mail for your Outgoing Server? If it's Port 25 or 110, try changing it to 587 with password authentication and SSL enabled, then see if it works. Verizon may be blocking whatever port Comcast told you to use for their email servers, which is probably Port 25.
Another way to get around that is to signup for a Gmail account, setup Mail for that, then enter the Outgoing Server information for the Gmail account in the settings for your Comcast account in Mail.

  • Unable to send mail through Sky server.

My mail wont send through the Sky server. The existing setting was relay.o2.broadband.co.uk. Have now tries smtp.tools.sky.com. Help topics appear to suggest I require to login to Sky Yahoo and account details (why as i'm not using a web based client), but doing so informs me the details are already recognised. Help.

I have already had two conversations with Sky (latest this morning) . The operatives did not seem to understand the problem. I have had several ISPs over the years and have never experienced a difficulty like this. They suggested I should talk to Talk Talk about it but I have never had any dealings with them!!!I joined this thread in the hope of Sky support contacting me . I may look at the possibility of switching ISP

  • Sending mail through "local" mail server?

I've set up fetchmail and procmail to download (and delete) mail from my mail host to a ~/Maildir on a server in my home which I then access through dovecot IMAP.
I want to be able to send mail "through" my server too, instead of going straight to my host's smtp. Maybe there isn't any good reason to do this?  I want my Sent mail to be stored on my local server. And if set up more than one mail account, it would have to use the right smtp depending on the email address.
Anyone know how they would go about it? I found a handful of dovecot/fetchmail articles, but none that mention sending mail really. There's an oldish looking wiki article on exim, but I feel like I shouldn't need to use system wide conf for this.

Dovecot and fetchmail only handle the mail coming to you (ie, IMAP/POP3). You need SMTP to send email.
I highly recommend Postfix, and set it up to use your ISP's mail server as relay_host

Looks like an incompatibility with your SMTP server.  If you get a sniffer trace of a working app sending email through this server what is different versus the debug output here?

So, i am not able to enter anything in fields under SMTP server settings

You probably have changing settings disabled in Restrictions.

Having been on Thunderbird for some years I have suddenly got the following message when trying to send mail.
An (SMTP) error occurred while sending mail. The server responded: Requested action aborted: This mail account has sent too many messages in a short amount of time. Please try later..
I have checked the SMTP server settings in tools, account settings and they are as they have always been. Is there something I have missed?

Sending through web mail is totally irrelevant to using an SMTP server. The message even says it is from the server. Why do you think this is a Thunderbird problem.
The provider has put in place measures to keep people from spamming other email recipients using thier SMTP server. You have seen the result of those measures.
