Sending Mail whilst on the Road

Hi All,
Can't seem to send out mail whilst away from home on the road. I am still receiving email OK but trying to send anything out gets a response.
"This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered. The connection to the server "smtp.wanadoo.co.uk" on port 25 timed out."
this only happens whilst i'm out of the house. have tried altering ports to those others mentioned in this forum but to no avail.
Can anybody help me please?

When traveling and connected to the internet with a different ISP that is not the same ISP used when connected to the internet at home, it depends on the ISP's requirement when using an SMTP server not provided by the ISP.
If the SMTP server used when connected to the internet at home is authenticated, sometimes changing the authentication to None for the SMTP server is all that is required and then switching back to authentication for the SMTP server when returning home.
When connected to the internet at a Hotel or via any paid or free internet access point, you need to check with the Hotel front desk or with their ISP regarding their restrictions when using an SMTP server not provided by the ISP. For some internet providers, it may require setting up and using their SMTP server to send messages with your email account or accounts.

The email server you are using to send mail through requires the password, if any is required it needs to be set in the location that I pointed out in the earlier post.
It is usually the same password you use for receiving emails.
I don't use either Facebook or Twitter so I am not sure how to help with those.

Here my exporting parameter "commit_work" is blank, i have not passed "X" in it.
When i pass "X" in this, it gives me a dump as below.

You need to check with your ISP whether or not the send mail server (SMTP) requires a password. Some do, but many do not. When you know the correct password to send mail, then you need to tell Mail as follows:
Mail menu > Preferences > Accounts > Select the account
Click on the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) combo box, and select Edit SMTP Server List...
In the Account Information tab put the server name
In the Advanced Tab, set up the authentication information from your ISP.

Please let me know if there is any standard workflow available for sending mails after running the audit. I want to inform students that they have failed in audit because of such and such subrequirement is not met.

Hi Vinod,
If you are on Ehp4 you can use the BRF as a framework to create a custom developed event/action to send out the e-mail. Or you can copy the standard bulk program of audit calculations and create to functionality to send out e-mails after the run.
There is currently no standard e-mail related to this process. You could check the standard workflow HRIQ_ADM_UG template to retrieve tasks to be copied in your own workflow (example HRIQ_APP1).

This is the error message I keep getting on outgoing mail. Incoming mail works fine. Does anyone have any suggestions to try?

You mean you can receive and send messages when you are connected to your wi-fi network at home with your internet service provider as the internet connection for your wireless network at home, but you are unable to send messages with this account when connected to AT&T's cellular network?
If so, this leans toward your email account being provided by your internet service provider.
Most internet service providers block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of the ISP's network or not provided by the ISP unless the SMTP server is authenticated. Not many ISPs provide an authenticated SMTP server with the email account they provide their customers.
You can do one of two things. The iPhone includes AT&T's SMTP server to select as the SMTP server to use for this email account when you are connected to AT&T's cellular network, but you probably won't be able to use AT&T's SMTP server to send with the account when connected to your wi-fi network at home.
Or you can switch to using an email account that provides an authenticated SMTP server. A Gmail account is one, and a MobileMe account is another.

Months of impecable service form BT as an option 3 customer. (I've even recommended BT to people)
but
For the past 2 weeks peak traffic has murdered my connection.
I can get 14mbit off peak, and it used to drop to about 7-9 at peak times.
Now its down to 1-2mbit at peak times. (no i haven't breached FUP as I check my btinternet inbox for the 80GB warning)
I think its resonable to experience drop off but 90%!!!
BT advertising says fast speeds at peak times. less than 2mbit is not fast. (that the governments minimum standard!!!)
I don't know how to procede because when I'm experiencing these issues if I ring up I will end up waiting so long to speak to someone (because its peak time) the concection wiill be better again.
I can think of no recourse other than to approach trading standards...
Guarnetee me 5mbit at peak times (enough to stream HD iplayer) and I'd be happy
That is what BT vision customers are in essence are getting + what ever their PC is using.

Hello - My son has a Roadrunner acct. When he's on the road, he can receive mail via hte Mail app; but he can't send it. Does he need to edit his emai settings while on the road? Thank you!

It all depends on the policy of whoever is the ISP at each location and the method used by the outgoing (SMTP) server to determine whether you’re a legitimate user. Note that when you’re not at home, the ISP at that location is usually not the same as the ISP when you’re at home.
In an attempt to fight spam, many ISPs restrict the ability to send using an outgoing (SMTP) server not owned by them, usually by blocking port 25 for all traffic outside their own network, which means you cannot send with an SMTP server not owned by them if configured to use that port number. And it may happen the other way around as well, i.e. the outgoing server itself may look at the IP address you’re connecting from and refuse the connection if you’re outside its own network.
Something that often works is changing the outgoing server port to 587 (or whatever alternate port number the outgoing server listens to) instead of 25 and using some form of authentication in Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server > Server Settings, but two conditions must be satisfied for this change to work: (1) the ISP must not block that port as well AND (2) the outgoing server in question must listen to that port and accept a form of authentication not based on the IP address you’re connecting from.
Independent mail service providers not tied to a particular ISP, such as .Mac and Gmail, do allow authenticated SMTP access on port 587, which is the reason changing the outgoing server port number solves the problem for them if the ISP doesn’t block that port as well.
The following article, for example, describes several ways to address this issue in the case of .Mac, but can be useful for other mail accounts as well (not just .Mac), and applies to all versions of Mac OS X (not just Mac OS X 10.4.2 and earlier as the article states):

Ths is regarding email to file scenario. I am trying to create file (in rceiver file adapter) with the same name as the email attachment that i read from mail sender adapter. I want ro use adapter module for this. I could find from blogs that there is module - GetAttachmentName - available that i can use for this in sender mail adapter.
Can you please let me know what whetehr i neeed to mention any module key and parameters for this.
I assume , i need to do following steps :Please confirm.
1. i can use this module - after payload swap module and before standard mail adapter module in sender mail adapter
2. select ASMA option in advanced tab in sender mail adapter
3. In receiver file adapter select ASMA option in advanced tab in sender mail adapter
4. Also select file name option in ASMA in sender mail adapter

If you use the Module getAttachmentName, which is described here,

your scenario should work as you described it.
You just need to make sure that the Attachment Name that you read in the first place, is mapped to the Filename Attribute of the
Fileadapter (http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File/FileName).

Outlook 2010 - sending mail with attachment - "The system cannot find the file specified"

I have the following failure scenario:
1. A user receives an e-mail with an attachment.
2. The user opens the attachment --> Forwards the mail and writes something in the body of the e-mail
3. For whatever reason the user leaves the e-mail and works on something else --> the user comes back to the e-mail an hour or more later.
4. The user then wants to send the e-mail but gets the following error message: "The system cannot find the file specified"
5. The effect is that the user cannot send the e-mail.....
------------------------------ TROUBLESHOOTING -----------------------
- I can see that when the user opens an attachment this attachment is saved in the OutlookTemp folder. Actually, there is a difference between opening the attachment before or after clicking forward on the e-mail.
---- Before: Two files is written to the OutlookTemp folder. For example if the attachment name is FileX.pdf - there will be a FileX.pdf but also a FileX (2).pdf in the folder (if OutlookTemp is empty/do not contain a file with the name FileX.pdf already)
---- After: Only one file is written to OutlookTemp. That is FileX.pdf
- Running Process Monitor when trying to forward the e-mail I can see that Outlook is calling a file that is not in the OutlookTemp folder anymore.
**** To me this is the heart of the issue. For some reason, when a user has an e-mail with an attachment open for an extended period of time (not sure on exactly how long is necessary), files in the OutlookTemp folder is deleted - files that Outlook is depending
on to be there.
- Going with a totally clean OutlookTemp folder does not help.

- The question now is: Is this by design? Can it be fixed by some Outlook 2010 patch? Or perhaps a group policy/registry setting as a workaround.

Hello Red Baron,
Although not a complete answer, the way to treat attachments in emails require some discipline:
1. Never open an attachment directly from the email (and NEVER edit it from there). Always save it in a known location as the desktop or (better) in a designated document folder. Then you can proceed as usual, like editing the contents, printing, forwarding
the new version etc.
2. Directly forwarding the attachment is ok, along with additional text in the body of the email.
3. Having any (unsaved) document open for several hours should
never occur. What if there is a power outage?
Bottom line is thus Discipline. This is regardless of Operating System (which might handle temporary files differently).
These are the rules I teach my customers and they never leave any document unsaved for hours ...

Getting "Cannot Send Mail - One of the Recipient Addresses was Invalid"

Mail was working fine under version 1. Upgraded my original iPhone to version 2 and couldn't send emails. Get "CANNOT SEND MAIL. ONE OF THE RECIPIENT ADDRESSES WAS INVALID. OK" message whenever I attempt to respond to an incoming email or when sending a new email. Sometimes "Sending" progress bar goes all the way to the end, but I still get this error message and mail is NOT sent. This is still the case after I upgraded to 2.02 HELP!

I have since removed the email account and added it again. I tried this several times and came to the realization that the Apple iPhone software was not setting the account up properly. I saved the account even though I was warned by the software that it was not working properly. I then went ahead and carefully edited all the settings and made sure that they matched EXACTLY with those in MS Outlook. I also set Authentication to Password on both incoming at outgoing servers.
I finally got it working. What a pain!!

"Cannot Send Mail" App has the smtp address wrong.

After upgrading my 3GS Iphone to OS 5.0.1, I have been an error msg when trying to send mail:
"Cannot Send Mail" - No password provided for [email protected]
The account is setup properly in settings as "SMTP.Comcast.net"
I have deleted the account and set it up again several times. No luck!
Does anyone else see this error?

Go into Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>your account>Outgoing mail Server SMTP>Primary Server then turn Server ON and fill in both User Name +Password under Outgoing Mail Server.

Cant Send Mail & keep getting the same E Mail over & over

I'm Having a couple of problems with my e mails
1st i have had this problem for some time now
my mail client is Vodafone Mail & i use smtp.vodafone.net to send now i have installed thunderbird & it works fine its just mail it does this with i use mail with other pop accounts personal & work & it works fine with them
i have tried to talk to vodafone tech support & they have just said all is working fine there end & it should be working just fine they also told me that i should not need to use my password to send e mails. so i have tried to send e mails with & without the password without any success

i keep getting the same e mail over & over again everytime mail refreshes to recieve mail i get another one
i deleted the message last week but it still keeps coming i have spoke to the sender asking if he had put it on some sort of repeat send he said not
i have had to delete this message over 500 times & it is starting to really annoy me
any help on these problems would be a great help

just thought of this actually i asked vodafone when i spoke to them on the phone they told me it doesnt matter
when it asks for my username in the authentication part i was just putting in the first part of my e mail address i have just put in the whole e mail address as my username & it worked straight away
as for the other problem still happeneing i'm afraid
as to your questions i am using the application mail which was on my mac when i bought it its the icon with the postage stamp with an eagle on it
i use my pop 3 vodafone account for my e mails which i have setup in the aplication mail you could say it is webmail as i can access my e mails from the vodafone.net website i use it as i also have my mobile phone linked to it
i have been on the vodafone.net site & i cannot find anything on there to solve my problem & i am still recieveing the same e mail
