Separation of Moment from Workflow

Separation of Moment from Workflow
Recently, there have been cases where we've considered "fudging" workflow - we have a service, someone approves and it needs to go onto another group or person that works on the service more before it needs to go somewhere else for approval, etc. - there really isn't a way to capture the approvals after the approval moment unless you want to have someone click on a "done" button.  While this is one instance - it would be cool to be able to define the workflow from start to end.  Perhaps Auths can be included in the Plan section, but allow the service designer to choose the workflow type (and one of those types would be auths, another would be provisioning, etc,).

Hi Brandy, I'm sorry that there hasn't been a reply to your question. Do you still have this question open, or have you gotten an answer from somewhere else?

  • Error: Binding from workflow to workitem aborted

    Hi ,
I am getting an error in binding which I am not able to resolve. Let me try to explain the scenario first.
    1) In the workflow a container element is existing with the name ZBUS2081 which is having reference to object type BUS2081.
    2) BUS2081 is having an <b>attribute</b> "Company code" which is again having reference to object type BUS0002. BUS0002 has a key field "CompanyCodeId" which is having reference to database table T001-BUKRS.
    3) In a particular step of the workflow there is a binding between ZBUS2081.Companycode.CompanyCodeId ->CCODE where CCODE is a task container element having dictionary reference T001-BUKRS.
    4) When the workflow is executing it is giving error in this particular step. The error description are "Binding from workflow to workitem aborted"         "ZBUS2081.Companycode.CompanycodeId of binding assignment is not available    " Error when determining attribute COMPANYCODE of object"
    5) When I check the container in the technical details I see that ZBUS2081.Companycode.CompanycodeId is set to a value. I also checked the corresponding database table for the invoice document and found that this value is existing.
Can anybody please help me on this as to why this binding error is occuring?
    Thanks in advance,
    Abhishek

    Hi Kjetil,
the workflow started when a document is parked. Its triggering event is BUS2081-Parked. Even I was thinking in the same lines that may be the workflow is trying to access database information which has not been updated at that moment.
When I checked the attribute Companycode of object BUS2081 I even found that the source is set to "Database field" and not "Virtual".
But when I check the workflow container ZBUS2081.Companycode.CompanycodeId is having the correct value. This means the data <b>has</b> been fetched correctly from the database.
Hence I feel if we cannot use an attribute with object reference directly in the binding, rather use a container operation to assign the value to another workflow container element and then use this element in the binding.
Any inputs from any body to confirm this are welcome.
    regards,
    Abhishek

  • How we can acess GOS to pop up automatically to user from workflow is our a

we plan to implement invoice verification workflow to start when an invoice is scanned and placed in holder in OAWD. So that workflow will start from then onwards with SAP archive link.
Please let us know how we can link scanner and SAP Archive link so that we can place the scanned document directly in to OAWD. how we open the image automatically when approver or AP clerk execute the workitem.
The process we want to follow is
    1. Scan document and place in OAWD
2 Workflow is started based on the document type of Archive link( we want to use BKPF)
3 AP clerk receives workitem and execute it. APclerk see the transaction code FV60 to enter document and image of the scan automatically
4 AP clerk fill the document and park the document.
5 Workitem is sent to approver based on the rule specified
6 Approver execute the transaction invoice iamge is opened and sap document is displayed.
7 Approver check both image and sap docuemnt and take decision
8 Approver approves document , sap document is posted and ready for payment
9 If rejected go back to AP clerk.
Here issue is when user or approver execute the workitem ,how we can open image automatically along with sap screen.
or how we can acess GOS to pop up automatically to user from workflow is our another isssue

    Hi,
It is possible to launch the stored image as soon as workitem is executed. You will need to maintain the archivelink customization to display stored document. Check the following link

  • Attachments from Workflow to ABAP Webdynpro launched from UWL

    Hi All,
You might have seen a recent post from me for sending attachments from ABAP Webdynpro to Workflow.
I could do that by just calling SAP_WAPI_ATTACHMENT_ADD. I didnt have to create an instance of the SOFM object
by passing the ATT_ID from this function module.
Now the next task of the workflow which is sent to UWL, automatically carries the attachements in the Workitem.
I didnt do binding from workflow container to Task container. (I dont know how!!)
But I need to get those attachments on my ABAP Webdynpro after it is launched from UWL.
For this I am using SAP_WAPI_GET_ATTACHEMENTS. But this FM is giving me the BOR reference.
How do use this to get the attachments displayed on my Webdynpro as links?
    Thanks
    Deb

    Hi Debabra,
I have similar requirement where I want to add new attachment from Webdynpro abap to workflow and again next level want to view it in UWL in another Webdynpro abap from workflow.
I am trying to attach the document from Webdynpro to Workflow I used FM SAP_WAPI_ATTACHMENT_ADD and looks like it attached in workflow.
Can you please tell  how the second part was solved where I want to attach document from workflow to Webdynpro abap
    Thanks,

  • Sending Mail from workflow or updating container elements

    Dear friends,
    I'm new to work flow.
My requirement: <b>send mail from workflow to a user after dead line is missed</b> I do not want to use messages in 'Latest end' tab. I want to send mail.
The mail id of the user is determined in the previous step using a FM. How do I use this mail id to send the mail. I thought of using 'Rule' option in 'Send Mail' (and use same FM)but thats not possible. In that case how do I pass the mail id value to the WF container from the FM?
    I also tried this idea:
created a task with BOR object SELFITEM, method 'SENDTASKDESCRIPTION' .
*in an activity step used this task and filled the 'Rule' option in notification tab appropriately
*in this case the WF goes into an error '.....error executing 'sendtaskdescription' .....'
*i would prefer using the activity step because, the mail has to be sent after a delay
Is there any other simple method to do this?
My problem would be solved even if someone can show me how to transfer values from a FM into a WF container.
    Can someone please explain?

Can any one please suggest me how to proceed on this issue ASAP?
    Regards,

    Hi Anjan,
You can try to set the FND: View Object Max Fetch Size to a value that would allow more data to be returned. However, be aware that this can cause performance issues.

  • How to call java method from workflow script?

    Hi
I have a requirement of updating field value 'Document Status' based on review/approve of content from Workflow and hence need to update the version number. For that I need to call my java method from workflow during submit of review/approve condition. Please let me know how to call java method from workflow?
Is there any alternative better way to achive this requirement from workflow? Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Sarang

OK. So, I think we can all conclude that you don't need to call any Java method, can't we? And, that wfUpdateMetadata is the command that will update your metadata.
Now, the question is what are its arguments. It has two - the first is the name of a custom metadata field to be updated (let's suppose that one field is called xMinorVersion, and the other xMajorVersion), the other is the new value, e.g. <$wfUpdateMetaData("xMinorVersion", "New value.")$>As for new value - do you insist on using strings? Since you want to increase the value, it would be more convenient to work with numbers. For instance, with integers you could go with <$wfUpdateMetaData("xMinorVersion", xMinorVersion + 1)$>With strings you will need to convert it to numbers and back to strings. Besides, what happens if you have more than 100 minor versions? (you mentioned you want to add 0.01, but that would finally increase the major version, wouldn't it?) So, I think these two numbers are independent (perhaps, with exception that increase on the major version set the minor version to .00).
If you want to present it, you can use profiles that will construct for you the representation 2.304 out of MajorVersion = 2, MinorVersion = 304
    Solved?

  • Launching webdynpro ABAP application from workflow task  (without UWL)

    Hello,
How can i start webdynpro ABAP application from workflow without portal?
Workflow and webdynpro ABAP are located on the same system.
I assume it must be possible without transaction SWFVISU.
    thanks

    Paul

First you need to define a external service then you have to generate a task from this external service and then you need to include this task id in you workflow for a ACTIVITY step then this step can be either background or can be assigned to any agent
you have to make use the below two Txn
    WF_HANDCUST and WF_EXTSRV

  • IDOC processing from Workflow.

    Hi GURUs,
    My scenario is as follows:
SAP is receiving an IDOC from XI. I'll have to receive IDOC in SAP using option - with ALE service and processing by task, as i'll have to send various emails using workflow task.
But how to process the received IDOC from workflow to affect sales order change?
I am thinking of using the function module - IDOC_INPUT_ORDCHG to make the sales order change. But the problem is how to process IDOC and calling the function module to  do the needful from workflow along with sending emails.
    Thanks in advance,
    Deep.
Message was edited by: Deep Chakrabarti

    HI,
You can very well stay with the standard process code and your process code should point to a workflow. There are no standard workflow template available for ur scenario. Hence you`ll have to use a custom workflow template and you can very well use BUS2032 and ORDCHG for your application.
Now, in your workflow the flow of steps should be in the sequence by which you want the activities to flow. Every step should essentially bind a method of a bus. obj. If in your scenario, the changes in the sales order are to be carried out automatically use the BAPI else send mail to the corresponding agent and let him change the S.O. in VA02.
    Reward points and be generous!!!!!!
    Just kidding...

  • Separating application logic from GUI

I don't know if this is the right forum to ask this question. I know that It's a very bad practice to embed application logic in GUI code, they have to be separated and communicate in some way. I've read somewhere that they need a kind of an adapter class or a knowledge of design patterns, which I actually don't have.
Could someone direct me to a nice tutorial, which explains this issue? Thank you.
