Sequencing winzip 17.0 with app-v 5.0?
Hi,
I tried to sequence winzip 17.0 with app-v 5.0 on windows 7 x64, on client test the error message appears: ...."Unable to install over the MSI version of the installation. Please obtain the MSI version or uninstall WinZIP first".I tried to set
variable "AssocMsgExe" to 0 inside app-v registry but it's the same issue. Someone have a solution for me?
To suppress the popup window "WinZIP is not currently associated to..." (german: "Derzeit ist WinZip jedoch nicht mit Zip und Zipx-Dateien verknüpft") after publishing the finished WinZip.appv, the following solution worked for me:
At the "Configure Software" stage (during Application Virtualization procedure) execute the WinZip application at least 2 times, close the occasionally "WinZip Tip of the Day"-Windows and wait for some seconds until closing/restarting the app.
The official MS Sequencing Guide says: "Many applications have first-run tasks such as accepting license agreements, etc. [...] multiple executions are recommended to ensure any second-run tasks are executed). Also, it is during this execution that any
applicable application configuration changes should be made. [...] This screen is also running in monitoring mode. It is possible to manage the tasks for programs that are not listed on this page by launching them outside of the Sequencer."
Executing WinZip a 3rd time, (close Tip-of-the-Day-Window,) leave WinZip open and execute
reg add "HKCU\Software\Nico Mak Computing\WinZip\WinZip" /v AssocMsgExe /t REG_SZ /d 0 /f in the Start menu search box (or via cmd.exe etc.).
Close WinZip app and execute it again a last (4th) time. Then proceed with App-V sequencer...
At the "Create Pckage" stage select "Continue to modify package without saving the package editor" and go to the "Virtual Registry"-Tab: Verify if REG_SZ
AssocMsgExe with value 0 is under USER\[{AppVCurrentUserSID}]\Software\Nico Mak Computing\WinZip\WinZip and save the package.
That's it!
After publishing on a client-PC the popup should be suppressed. Locking at the registry (after the 1st program start) you should find AssocMsgExe at:
HKCU\Software\Classes\AppV\Client\Packages\[ Package ID ]\Versions\[ Version ID ]\REGISTRY\USER\[ User ID ]\Software\Nico Mak Computing\WinZip\WinZip
HKCR\AppV\Client\Packages\[Package ID]\Versions\[Vdersions ID]\REGISTRY\USER\[User ID]\Software\Nico Mak Computing\WinZip\WinZip
Adding AssocMsgExe to the Virtual Registry inside the Package Editor
after the monitoring mode takes no effect: on the 1st start of WinZip you'll see the popup for 1 single time again, because the suppressing REG_SZ will be written not until the first program start. You
have to add the SZ during monitoring mode.

Hi,
Trying to sequence Exceed v14 with App-V 5.0 results in the following error...
The manifest created during sequencing is not valid. Sequecning cannot continue, try sequencing the application again...
In the seuqencer debug log there are a few entries:
Error in ManagedFileNameInfoT::GetFileNameInfo(), FltGetFileNameInformation() ntstatus = The name requested was not found in Filter Manager's name cache and could not be retrieved from the file system.
Anyone have any information on what this actually means or what can be done to resolve?
ThanksThanks Tomas, this app does create a lot of class keys, see below. Do any of these look troublesome? Apologies for the length of the code paste...

Can you deploy an application sequenced with App-V v5 with SCCM 2007?
We are currently in the process of upgrading to SCCM 2012. We are also embarking on testing App-V v5. Can we deploy sequenced applications from App-V v5 using SCCM 2007? What limitations will exist with SCCM 2007? What release of
SCCM 2007 should we be at for App-V v5 sequenced applications to be deployed and/or streamed? This KB article is now available: Supported Configuration Manager and Microsoft Application Virtualization scenarios

Replace APP-V 4.6 Sp1 with APP-V 5.0
Hi All,
I have been using APP-V 4.6 Sp1 in my production. Now as the APP-V 5.0 is available I want to replace the APP-V 4.6 Sp1 with APP-V 5.0 using SCCM 2012. I have already created the TS for it. I have also created a vb script to uninstall the APP-V 4.6 Sp1.
The TS ran successfully and uninstalled the APP-V 4.6 Sp1 and installed the APP-V 5.0 Client and configured it. All of the applications launched successfully ( I have created a separate package of all of the applications with APP-V 5.0 sequencer).
What issue I am facing is that the Outlook 2012 sequenced with APP-V 5.0 is not picking up the older ost file and is asking again to configure an account. By default it should pick the ost file for the already configured account. But this is not happening
to me.
Can someone suggest me the way to migrate from APP-V 4.6 Sp1 to APP-V 5.0. I don't want to run two differnet version of APP-V altogether and I want to replace the previous version of APP-V Client with that of 5.0.

Problem runing virtualized SAP GUI 7.1 with APP-V 5.0 SP2
Hello,
We have been try to virtualize SAP GUI 7.1 on APP-V 5 SP2, the sequencing with app-v 5 sp2 is successful and SAP can be run correctly on the sequencer machine, however, when the application is streamed to the user and run, it immediately stops and throws
the following error. I see some articles about how to virtualize SAP 7.1 with previous versions of APP-V but none on app-v 5.
Is SAP 7.1 not compatible with APP-V 5 SP2 ?
Has anyone seen this behavior before ?
Thanks for your help,
Luca.

Just got back into the Curve from a WM phone and I forgot how easy this phone is to use!!! Having a problem with App world though. I;m receiving an error message stating I'm unable to connect to the server. Anyone have any suggestions on how to rectify the problem? I'm sure it's a super easy fix and I'm just missing it online somewhere. Thanks!
Here's a few steps I've recommended that have worked for some...
There have been some issues with the AppWorld services lately...most are reported to be cleared up. Please try again. Also, please try removing and re-installing AppWorld...some have reported that to be helpful. In addition...RIM has released AppWorld version 1.1.0.15...it is highly recommended to be on that version.
Also please try a hard reset: With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
In addition, you can try this sequence:
1) Remove AppWorld from your BB (Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Applications) -- if it requests that you reboot the BB, do so.
2) Do a Batt-Pull reboot as described above.
3) Get a new link and install a fresh copy of AppWorld
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/appworld/download.jsp#tab_tab_download
Again, if it requests to reboot, do so.
4) Do another Batt-Pull reboot
5) See if it now works.
Cheers!

My iphone 4s wont sync when I connect it to the pc( not apple). It is connected as it comes up on itunes but when I try to sync it with apps/ music etc it wont. I am doing something wrong or is it a mistake with the phone. I am still able to download apps and music from itunes on my phone though.
I already restored it but that didn't help.
TIA for any replies.iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

I want to install apps using itunes from my pc but there is only on option for doing that i.e. itunes replace the installed apps with apps on itunes. Is there any other way for doing that without replacing my apps ???
Ipod touch will sync with one computer at a time. If you sync to another then it will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.

I am having trouble with app updates on my iOS 5 iPhone never getting beyond the "waiting" state. I have tried signing out/in of my account, rebooting and removing/re-installing the apps. This started shortly after going to iOS 5 but I am not certain if that is related. All updates that I try now are stuck in "waiting". I also tried removing the apps and then installing via iTunes desktop sync with no improvement. The only thing that I have not tried so far is a restore to a prior iPhone backup. I have not been able to find anything to indciate what the updates on waiting on. There is plenty of space on the iPhone (16gb available). Any suggestions on what to try next?
Hello there, Missy.
First thing I would recommend is to check your downloads queue to make sure there is not an interrupted download per the following Knowledge Base article:
iTunes: How to resume interrupted iTunes Store downloads
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1725
If your download was interrupted using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
1. From the Home screen, tap the iTunes app.
2. For iPhone or iPod touch, tap More > Downloads. For iPad, tap Downloads.
3. Enter your account name and password if prompted.
4. Tap the blue download arrow to resume.
If you can't complete the download on your iOS device, you can download it in iTunes on your Mac or PC and then sync it to your iOS device. You can also transfer purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer.
For Apps, you can also try tapping on the application icon to resume the download, as outline in this featured discussion:
App updates won't download on my...: Apple Support Communities
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4111336
Try tapping the App, so that it changes to Paused instead of Waiting, then tap it again to resume the install.
Make sure you don't have any paused downloads in other apps either, like the App Store or iTunes Store.
If that doesn't do it, try resetting or restoring the iPhone.

My Ipad 2 is possessed. I was reading a book when the pages started flipping on hteir own, with apps opening and closing. I did a cold boot, but it was no help. No, it has not gotten wet.
Sounds like a hardware problem. Contact Apple Support.

I just bought my 10 year old autistic daughter an IPOD touch that she needs to take to school with just the music (no apps) on it but she also also has an IPAD mini for home that is fullly loaded with apps. The last time I tried to connect 2 devices to Itunes I ended up loosing my own music library so I am a bit hesitant to start setting up this new IPOD touch with outsome help. Anyone have any ideas on how I set up Itunes to make this work and not loose her IPAD apps and media?
Open itunes, connect ipad, select what you want, sync.

I purchased an iPhone 4s on Nov. 20th. I immediately had to update the software to ios 6.0.1. I cannot even get through 1 day without the phone battery losing all power. It loses 10-20% per hour, and that's with apps closed, wifi off, bluetooth off, screen dark, updates current, etc. You can hold the phone in your hand and watch the power go down. It also gets very warm. I have to charge it once or twice a day so I have it when I need it.
I took it in to the Sprint store for diagnostics to see if there was something wrong with the phone. They said the phone is ok, but one of the agents said it's the last update - he has had problems ever since. He said he thought they are working on fixing it & we should be getting another update to fix it. Is this true? I sure hope so! They also showed me how to reboot the phone, especially when it gets so warm. Is there anything else I need to do? Please help!
This is my first iPhone and I am very frustrated and disappointed in Apple. If it's the software, I would think they would be frantically trying to fix it. This phone was not the cheapest phone, so the battery life should be better! After some troubleshooting, I decided to order a new battery. I replaced the battery and was then able to get it to restore, however--after I restore it and it comes time to restart the phone, it gets stuck and doesn't turn on.
Sorry, your repair ruined the iPhone.
She does not have apple care and even though she loved this device, she isn't going to buy another iPhone because of all the problems shes had with this one (it's just over a year old).
After you ruined the iPhone with DIY, Apple won't touch it anymore. You should have asked before all these had happened.
I'm an android user myself and I love rooting/flashing new ROMS, so if jailbreaking her phone or doing some kind of super-restore with 3rd party programs might help, I'm all for it-
Yeah, all Android user can think of is Jailbreaking, read this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3743
