Series of movie clips for advertising bar

this might be a pipe dream, but i would like to create an ad
bar on my church's webpage. I would like to just create a series of
movie clips and have them each play through for a period of time,
then switch to the next. I would like to create the transition
between each clip with action script instead of adding frames
between each animation. Is there some code that woudl allow me to
play one movie clip, wait for some time, then move to the next?

  • Stopping and Playing a series of movie clips

    I am looking to make a showreel of a series of movie clips that reside on a single frame each in the main timeline.
    I have been searching google and Adobe forums for a solution with Action Script 3 but have yet to find one that works as described. I feel as though the scripts I am finding are partial and not complete examples because the script fails due to functions/variables/events/etc being duplicated or not found/referenced.
    What I need to happen is:
    movieClipA plays
         when movieClipA finishes
              goto MovieClipB
    movieClipB plays
         when movieClipA finishes
              goto MovieClipC
    movieClipC plays
         when movieClipC finishes
              goto MovieClipA (I am having most trouble with the loop back)
    Most of the time when the script works in the various ways I have scripted it, it will either flicker between the frames or play the first one then loops the seconds one or play both but not loop back. And sometimes (when I have used an event listener) it crashes the preview probably due to an infinate loop in the syntax I guess.
    It would be very helpful if you could break up the code into where each script is required to be keyed.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Figures.. I just found the post on the forums that answered my question.
    I have on the last frame of each MC - MovieClip(parent).nextFrame();
    Then in the main timeline I have - stop();
    I then have a frame after the last MC which says gotoAndPlay(1);
    This works
    If you would still like to show me another solution, atleast then I know two ways how to do the same thing

  • Please help! Nested Movie Clips as navigation bar

    Hi everyone,
    I just had my first flash lesson a couple of days  ago, but decided to venture myself into trying to build a navigation  tool bar with movie clips grouped together. My intention is that once  the mouse rolls over one particular movie clip, another movie clip fades  in under it (my version of a "drop down" menu). Just so it happens, the  movie clip that fades in, is also comprised of particular movie clips  with their own behaviors (roll over tween effects).
    I can make  each individual movie clip behave as it should, but I cannot get them to  work once they are pieced together. I'm attaching a link that contains  the file I'm talking about (submenu), in the hopes that one of you good  Samaritans would take a look at it and tell me where I went wrong.
    Hopefully   I haven't absolutely shocked you guys with my level of ignorance.

    its just with the frame labels you have given every where.
    and its the same "over" and "out"
    the player is confused to play which one fist
    i removed some lables and saw that it works partially. (did not debug the whole fla)

  • How to play movie clips for a certain amount of time only

    Hello everyone, I think I have a relatively basic question here but I can't figure it out. I have a movie clip loaded using action script 3 at the start of my animation, I want ito to end at the 120th frame. But I can't use the stop(); command because it will also stop the rest of my animations from the 121st frame onwards. So my problem is, how can I stop the movie clip without stopping the rest of my animations?

  • Saving A Movie Clip for Later Use in PowerPoint Presentation

    Does anyone know how I can save a non-copyright movie clip coming down the line and played on AOL so I can then insert it in a Mac PowerPoint presentation? When I try to download now, save and replay it, I can’t view it unless I go back to AOL, which will no be available at my presentation sight. Any help would be appreciated.

    Sounds like it is either a "reference" movie or RTSP streamed movie. You may be able to access the former by loading the URL directly to the QT Player and saving it if you have QT Pro (or you may not). In either case, a screen capture application like Snapz Pro X could be used to capture anything displayed on your monitor.

    FLV, F4V and H.264. But i always experience massive lag in Full Screen Mode. Even when I encode with low rate settings.

    Those are the only formats supported in Rich Media Annotations. Within the Acrobat Family they render using Flash Player, so the performance should be similar to a full-screen display of the same video from another source (e.g. on a website).
    What do you mean by 'massive lag'? Are the audio and video tracks out of sync, is the playback slow or buffering? You must expect an initial delay when the RMA activates, as the video file must be decompressed from the PDF file's data stream and transferred to memory for Flash Player to open. That can take anything up to three seconds depending on the hardware and size of the stream.

  • Different Video Clips for Chapters and Full Feature Movie

    How can you assign a different movie clip for the animated chapter frames and for the full feature video when you click on the frame in the menu???

    Even if you do not want that part to be seen in the real movie?
    We have cut a feature film (dance show) in five parts, just for the sake of video previews (supposed to be seen in slow motion).
    If you put these five so called "preview videos" to the end of the time line with the appropriate poster frames linked to the appropriate chapter markers will they be hidden in the main movie, right?

    I'm calling a swf file in a container_mc, which is in
    another swf file(Interface), by loadMovie() method. The Major
    problem I've stucked with is that in the interface I'm having a
    Play/Pause Button, which is not stopping the nested movieclips of
    the external swf file which is loaded in the container_mc
    movieclip.
    The other major issue is that I'm not able to add a
    progressbar(sliderbar) which runs according to the animation, to
    this interface. Please help ASAP

    I have a similiar situation however the container_mc has me
    puzzled, I'm not sure what that is - perhaps you can answer my
    question:
    I have a master swf called index.swf. The index.swf has a
    main tool bar of buttons which load frames; each frame is named to
    coincide with the main bar button (i.e. genInfo, setup,
    mainentance, etc). This works perfectly. My problem is with Movie
    Clips.
    Each frame has a sidebar which loads external swfs (i.e.
    genInfo.swf) - each external swf is made up of a series of Movie
    Clips which run in succession along the timeline; each Movie Clip
    belongs within its own frame (i.e. MCseg1 is in frame seg1; MCseg2
    is in frame seg2, etc).
    I need to pause and play each individual Movie Clip at will;
    I have built two buttons (pauseBtn and playBtn) into a Movie Clip
    called MCpausePlay. The first frame of MCpausePlay contains the
    pauseBtn; this frame is coded with the global "stop();" In order to
    move to frame(2) which contains the playBtn, the pauseBtn is coded
    with -
    on(release) {
    gotoAndPlay(2);
    The playBtn is coded:

    gotoAndPlay(1);
    When clicked, the MCpausePlay moves from pause to play.
    That's all I have been able to get this to do.
    How do I code MCpausePlay to pause and then play each
    individual Movie Clip? (How do I get a Movie Clip to control other
    Movie Clips?). Should I code the Movie Clip, the frames within the
    Movie Clip, or each individual button within the Movie Clip? And,
    does this MCpausePlay belong on the Index.swf file, or should it be
    on each external swf? Or perhaps built in to every Movie Clip? I
    have tried all and have not had any success.

    Just wondering if anyone can help me.
    I have a series of movie clips, movieClip1_mc, movieClip2_mc,
    movieClip3_mc.............etc. and i have another series of
    dragable movie clips, drag1_mc, drag2_mc,
    drag3_mc...............etc.
    I need to code my action script so that when drag1_mc is
    droped within movieClip1_mc or 2 or 3 etc that the name of the
    movie clip which is the target (ie movieClip1_mc) to be put into a
    variable, from there i can then work with that variable.
    Any ideas, i hope that makes sense :)

    Okay so ive set up my array with all of the movie clips names
    inside, this array is called 'mcArray'
    Than i set up a simple loop but i dont know if this is
    correct:
    for( var i= 0; i<=mcArray.length; i++){
    now inside this i am required to put the hit test in arent i?
    So far i put this in
    drag1_mc.hitTest(i);
    This is a total stab in the dark at this so im sorry if im
    wrong, lol however this bring up false for every field in the array
    when i trace it, is this because my code is wrong or because my
    movie clips are not in the same place, they start off on the same
    level but drag1_mc goes down a few more levels than movieClip_mc,
    could this be my problem??

    Do you mean loading clips that are in the library?

  • TellTarget to play a movie clip within a movie clip

    I currently have two movie clips in my scene with a button
    that lies inside one of the movie clips. We will call this movie
    clip for the sake of this post "ph." The button inside of ph has a
    rollOver/rollOut movie clip called "Buick_rollOut" attached to it
    as a parked movie clip through tellTarget. Currently Buick_rollOut
    only works if I put the parked movie clip on the same level as ph.
    I want Buick_rollOut to be within the movie clip, ph, that contains
    the button. I want that button be able to tellTarget the location
    of Buick_rollOut within ph. I hope this makes sense. Here is my
    code for the button that lies within ph. (this code only works when
    Buick_rollOut is located outside of ph on the same level).

    Is this code running on the button? What's the name of the
    button?
    Things would be a little clearer if you replaced tellTarget
    with dot notation:
    Buick_rollOut.gotoAndPlay("rollOver");

    I understand that this code will be places right after the "return" label so that when the return phase plays it will then play the code making it go to this movie clip then it will stop.
    I have tried

    And giving the movieclip that has the logo fading in the "return_2" label name. THis allows it to go to that movie clip, however, it doesnt play it is just blank on the screen.
    I also have tried accessing the movie clip after giving it an instance name, but it was doing the same thing.

    I actually tried a post earlier that was simplified, but I think the setup of scenes might be important....anyways, here it is.
    Setup:
    Scene 1 > MovieClip1 > MovieClip2 > MovieClip3 > MovieClip4
    Explanation:
    I am in MovieClip4, in which I have a "Close_btn" that when clicked, it takes you to label "return" (still inside MovieClip4), which then plays the movie clips in the layers below label "return." What I want it to do is....Once label "return" plays, I need the code to make it go into "MovieClip2" and play a movie clip with the "Instance" Name of "Logo_1."
    I have tried this by setting a label name above the movie clip and referencing the label, however, it does access that movie clip, but it doesnt play it...It is just blank.
    Hope this is understandable.

    I have a movie clip within my swf website that is basically
    an icon that you roll over to produce the menu. The movie clip has
    coding inside it to produce the rollover effect. This is as
    follows:

    Whilst this coding works fine for this movie clip, for some
    reason the buttons within the movie clip that appear as you
    rollover them will not work when pressed. I am trying to get them
    to navigate the main timeline, i.e. coding as follows:

    _parent.gotoAndPlay("home")
    _parent should be correct, I've tried it without and with
    _parent._parent however still it has no effect. From what I can see
    everything should be working fine.
    Is there some reason why buttons will not work within this
    sort of roll over effect movie clip?

    you can't assign mouse handlers to a parent movieclip and
    expect a child movieclip to respond to mouse events: the parent
    will intercept those events.
    to remedy, either assign all your mouse handlers on the child
    generation movieclips or use a hitTest() for one of the
    generations.

  • How to load dynamic text inside a movie clip?

    hello all - i have a main stage where on the first frame my
    "home" movie clip displays. i did this by dragging/dropping, and
    then i put a stop action. all works fine.
    inside this home movie clip on the main stage, there are
    links to other movie clips. for example, to get to my faq's page -
    you click that button, then it takes you to frame 4 on my main
    stage, where my faq's movie clip (followed by stop action) has been
    dragged/dropped and displays properly.
    within the faq's movie clip this process is repeated, with
    buttons taking to you various pages (different frames where
    different movie clips play - all works fine).
    so now i want to add a dynamic text field within my faq's
    movie clip. i have read numerous tutorials where i have created the
    text file but i have not been able to display it with success
    within my faqs movie clip.
    here is some code that my dvd tutorial instructs me to place
    on main stage as i practice getting this to work:

    3. i didn't know about embedding font but i saw the option
    and embedded it - still no results.

    To see if your getting a return from the load call adn text
    file, use a trace statment before the success condition and see
    what it returns:
