Serious bugs in 10.6.4 with trash and permissions

Hi i need help to trash my adobe cs4 folders, for some odd reason the trash re appears every time i try to cone my drive via superduper or CCC, no matter what i do it re appears,
i fixed the permissions so the administrator can read and write, i emptied the trash securely as some suggested, but its back and this is the 4th time, any idea please do tell me, i also used a terminal command, emptied the trash, then its back again after a few minutes!
This started after updated to 10.6.4 btw

Did you re-try cloning with CCC after you had first re-trashed the items *directly from the 502 folder window* you obtained via Go to Folder?
If you can see the items in the *Go To Folder> /.Trashes/502* window, then you apparently have *two different* .Trashes>502 folders. The items that keep re-appearing in your Trash icon window (the ones you did the GetInfo on) are in the HD>.Trashes>502 folder of your external drive. The Go to Folder command that I gave you is looking at the HD>.Trashes>502 folder on your startup drive. The Trash icon on the Dock may not look at that folder - trashed items on the startup drive normally go into Home>.Trash, a completely different place.

  • Strange Problems With Display and Permissions Since 10.5.1 update.

    Since I've done the 10.5.1 update I have been having a strange problem with my desktop and dock displays. On my desktop I have these strange lines that appear any time I log in or open any application, the lines never go away and change locations on the screen once I open an application or move a window. My dock has the reflective shelf for about half of it, the rest is a dull grey. I've also had problems with verifying and repairing my permissions. I can never actually complete either permissions task. I've used some third party apps, they always fail as well. The only time I can actually repair my permissions is by booting in to single user mode and doing a fsck -f command. When I boot back in to Leopard and try to use the Disk Utility to repair, it continues to fail.
    I'm not sure if the video problem I am having stems from a permissions issue or possibly a corrupt video driver. Either way, I've done a lot research and haven't found anyone with the same problems I have been having so I thought I would give these forums a shot.
    I am using a PowerMac G4 Quicksilver with dual 800Mhz, 1.5gb RAM, and a GeForce4 Ti 4600 128mb video card.

  • Problems with access and permissions

    Hi,
    I installed the 10.5.3 update, well software update installed 10.5.3, and it managed to completely bugger up my system. I could not boot up, nor could i safe boot. A verbose boot revealed it was stuck in some form of loop, loading something, which then quit due to an error and it continued to try and load it. I resorted to reinstalling os x with an archive and install due to my external disk breaking i could not restore from a time machine back up. BAsically the install managed to go wrong, and i ended up having to reinstall again. When i finally got to my desktop none of my settings had been carried over and they were in a previous system folder. I fired up migration assistant to copy it over because of the access and permissions stopping me from doing it manually. Migration assistant told me i needed a huge amount of terabytes to perform the migration! So i tried to do it manually.
    Basically all my stuff is in my home folder but none of it is set to my new user name, all the rights are set to _Unknown which is, im guessing, my old user account. Is there any way to mass set the access and permissions to my new account, including that of all the subfolders and contents?
    Any help would be appreciated, im at the end of my tether here! This is the 3rd time ive had problems with a leopard upgrade. Why does software update always fail to perform an upgrade?

    From your account, open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal, and copy the blue text in, and press enter (you'll have to provide your admin password, which you won't see. That's normal.)
    sudo chown -R `id -u`:`id -g` ~
    After that finishes, the prompt with Computername:~ username$ will come back, and you can quit Terminal.
    To be sure, you should log out and log in again.

  • Bug in LabVIEW 6.1 with Windows 2000 permissions

    This is a bug I've discovered when using LabVIEW 6.1 in a multi-user Windows 2000 environment.
    After underlying software changes and the like, it is common that when exiting a VI, a message pops up saying that an underlying VI has changed and must be saved. As a regular user, this cannot be done, because regular users don't have write access to the LabVIEW system folder.
    When the same thing is done as Administrator, the changes can be saved. In this case, it was a change to a VI residing in the NI-DAQ ai.llb. After the save, the permissions on ai.llb (which by default included liberal access for the Users group) were changed to allow only access by the Administrators group, making it impossible for a regular user
    to use that VI or any VI depending on it.
    The solution is to manually edit the permissions on the .llb after the save to add the Users group back into the allowed users list.

    NI has been keeping fairly up to date on permissions. If you search the entire www.ni.com using Administrator as the keyword, you'll find many of these issues and their resolutions.

  • 10.5.5 update problems with firewall and permissions

    Hello, I have a small office (4 people) with one server that has both leopard server (standard install) and filemaker server installed on it. I'm hosting our website, running ical services, file sharing and Firewall. I avoided doing any updates because everything was working well and I didn't want it to get screwed up. Well our website was hacked into so I went ahead and ran the combined update and restarted. Everything booted up fine and is working with the exception of Filemaker Server database access and webdav access to our site folder.
    The Filemaker access is a firewall issue but I'm not sure about how to proceed. In order to open the appropriate port it seems I need to use server admin (instead of server prefs) and run the firewall from there. If I allow the Filemaker server service for "Any" doesn't that leave me vulnerable from the outside? if so how would I go about allowing it only to the internal file services?
    For the webdav services when using Dreamweaver to upload files to our server I receive a permissions error not allowing me to upload any files. I have repaired permissions and still get the same error. My question is 2 part:
    Any ideas on what to do about the permissions?
    Would it be more secure to turn off webdav and create a share point ( I am local ) for the site folder with "others" read only privileges and my web designer read and write privileges?
    If I continue to use webdav should I secure the folder using realms and give "Everyone" browse only privileges and my web designer Browse and Read/wright privileges?

  • I am have a problem with ACLs and permissions

    How come my Public folder that is shared and has some shared folders has certain users and groups with permissions, like (ACLs) workgroup, _spotlight, (POSIX) system, wheel, everyone, but when they are on a client machine, they say (POSIX) <username>, staff, everyone.
    Basically I don't get why they don't carryover to the Client side. Is feature? or something that has to be enabled? that I am missing...? Any help would be great full.

  • WARNING: Serious bug in Netscape 6.01 browser

    All--
    I've just been bitten by a serious bug in the Netscape 6.01 browser, and
    want to let you know about it before it bites you too. Full bug details can

    A short summary is that the back & forward buttons incorrectly resubmit form
    fields. For example, say I have this page flow:
    Page A -> Page B - (submit form) -> Page A -> Page C
    Use Back button to go from C back to A
    On backing up from C to A, Netscape tells me that there are posted form
    elements and asks if I want to resubmit them or cancel the back action.
    Because I'm backing up to A, it tries to resubmit the form fields from page
    B in order to show page A!
    What does this mean? It means that the Web application gets another hit to
    page B, as if the user had pushed a button on it again--even if this isn't
    allowed by the application. In other words, the back button becomes a
    serious threat to an application's consistency. Neither IE nor Opera do
    this, nor did any other version of Netscape.
    Please keep this behavior in mind if you are designing an application that
    could be used with Netscape 6. For those transactions that you need to
    ensure aren't executed more than once, you may want to set a hidden field on
    the page (page B) or otherwise keep track of a value that indicates whether
    the transaction has been executed or not. Another option might be to set an
    HTTP header indicating that the problematic page (page A) can't be cached by
    the browser (this differs from what one might do in the "normal" situation
    of telling the browser not to cache page B, so that backing up from page A
    to B wouldn't be possible).

  • Serious Bug Powerbuilder 12.5.2 build 5609 with Inheritance

    Hi ,
    I'm using Powerbuilder 12.5.2. build 5609. I think it is the latest release. I have three windows in my app.
    The Grandfather , the father and the child. Child window (w_child)  is inherited from the father (w_father) which inherits from the grandfather (w_grandfather).
    I have some events in my windows , clicked events with code etc.
    I made a change in the grandfather , regenerated the father and the child and my code in the child window was messed up!. And when I say messed up I mean that the code in my clicked event was disappeared or moved in other cases to other events.
    With Full build and incremental build didn't fix the bug.
    Using export and import FIXED the issue.
    BUT.....
    Why is this happening ? Of course this is a Powerbuilder BUG but  do I need to export and import my objects when I make a change to ancestors objects ?
    FYI using the edit source option I can see the code that it's there.
    Will this issue been fixed because this is a very serious BUG. Every time I want to make a change to ancestors should I need to export all objects and import them again ???

    I don't know.
    But I tried the below scenario and found a different bug.
    Same hierarchy. Grandfather, Father and Child.
    Steps to reproduce.
    1. Go to Fathers screen and Add a button. Leave the name as it is. cb_1
    2. Go to Grandfather and add a button(didn't have any buttons yet). The name will be cb_1.
    If you try to open the Father's screen you will be prompted from Powebuilder with a messagebox which suggest to make the changes for you because there was a name conflict. OK fair enough.
    But.
    If you press OK and let powerbuilder handles this then this doesn't work.
    Anyway. This is a completely different thing from the original post . But I have just founded out trying to reproduce it to a new application.
    FYI. The application was at first in Powerbuilder 10 but we have Migrated succesfully to powerbuilder 12.5 and It was working fine until we ;ve changed the intermediate level of inheritance.
    The solution to my problem is export and import the intermediate level so don't search anymore. You will loose time trying to reproduce it.

  • Itunes with Podcasts - serious bug - cant delete

    Hi all
    Im using the latest version of Itunes with my 60gb ipod on XP, and ive noticed a serious bug where once you add podcasts to your ipod via itunes, you cant delete them in itunes at all - they stay grey even when the device is disconnected.
    You try to highlight one and press delete, but its faded out. How do I resolve this?

    Ok, first off, is your iPod in automatic update?
    Try putting it into manual update. Then you should be able to remove the podcast.

  • Serious bug in 10.7.4 and 10.8 with 2009 13" MacBook Pro?

    Does anyone else own a mid-2009 13" MacBook Pro and have problems Kernel Panics with 10.7.4 or 10.8.
    Ever since 10.7.4, I have been getting Kernel Panics anywhere from 0-5 hours after bootup on my 2009 13" MacBook Pro.
    I have done everything I could to isolate the issue including pulling the SSD and going back to the original SATA platter drive to no avail. Memory tests pass and this laptop is 100% stable and reliable in 10.7.3 (which I was forced to reformat and reinstall to).
    After many days (and weeks) trying to figure something out, I am theorizing there has to be something with the 10.7.4 and 10.8 OSes that just doesn't seem to work properly with the mid-2009 13" MacBook Pro. My friends with 2010 and 2011 13" MacBook Pros have no problems whatsoever with Mountain Lion, so I'm wondering if perhaps the NVidia chipset in the 2009 is problematic.
    Anyone else in the same boat?

    Verizon is a company that is only out to get your cash and leave you with trash. Verizon has mastered deception. Do not get strung along like I did by calling in and letting them try to fix anything-they are there to make sure you get past your 14 day return period so you are locked into a new 2 year contract and can’t take back any of the accessories you bought for your product. If your product does not work out of the box, RETURN IT IMMEDIATELY, do not call in for tech support and take back any accessories you bought for the product as it also has the 14 day policy too. First off let me say that as far as the PHONE SERVICE, it has been great…however…here is what I have experienced with the 3G Droid Bionic and Verizon. I decided to get the Droid Bionic 4G since they are supposed to have 4G service in my area. It’s either their service or the product that is not 100% 4G like my 3G HTC Imagio is 100% 3G, the so called "4G" Bionic flips in and out. I can’t count how many hours I’ve been on the phone with techs at Verizon and Moto but each time, they all had something different to say, but nothing ever worked and if it did, it didn’t work for long before it went back to the same flip flop. There were several other issues as well but too many to list, but one is that when I was tethered and would get a notification it disconnected from the internet...NOT SUPPOSE TO HAPPEN. I had a specific need for the 4G and since it doesn’t work, I don’t NEED it. The biggest lie I bought into is that MOTO is/was supposed to release a software update that is supposed to fix the flip flop 3G to 4G. I talked to a tech tonight at Verizon that was honest enough to tell me that if there was one that was going to be released (within my 14 day period) that they would have been notified of that. Well guess what, he doesn’t have any notices. But every person I talked to at Verizon said there was going to be an update, is it another one of those…no one knows their butt from a hole in the grown or was he telling the truth. Well it makes sense now that when I was talking with the second level tech at MOTO he didn’t know what the heck I was talking about. There’s your proof that the people you call and talk to at Verizon are devious, deceptive jerks and are only out to make money off us and could really care less that you just spent a bundle of money on a piece of cow dung and that their only goal is to keep you tied into the 2 year contract. After talking with the last tech at Verizon that told me there was no notification of a software update coming from MOTO or at least not in the next two weeks, I decided to take back all my accessories to the Verizon store in my area and return the Bionic tomorrow. But guess what, unlike the rest of America where the return policies are 30 days, Verizon also changed the return policies on the accessories too. So I’m stuck with over $100 of “STUFF” that cannot be used on any other phone. My bad, I didn’t have my reading glasses, look 12 inches down the long small print page to see that it said 14 days, when I bought the “STUFF” and I didn’t know that Verizon’s changes applied to the accessories in there stores too. Why is this and issue because Verizon did have me buy another Bionic phone under a new 14 day policy but because I didn’t realize that same policy applied to the hardware at their local stores, I’m stuck with the “STUFF”. Guess what Verizon; you devious, deceptive jerks, what goes around comes around. You are going to get to know me real well in the coming days, weeks, months and years; I’m going to picket until the freakin cows come home and hopefully get on the local news channels too. I’m going to hopefully create a nationwide movement that will either ruin your company or force you to restore the 30 day policy and I don’t care if you try to sue me that will be even better as it will draw even more attention. Money is hard to come by these days and I’ll not let you screw me over like this and get away with it. Because you are treating your customers like cow dung, I WILL NEVER extend my contract again; when this contact ends I’m switching to another cell provider. I’ve been with you since 2004 but tomorrow I’m switching my family’s phones over as soon as possible since they are not under any contract; this I hope will catch on and others will do the same. We can support the other companies and help them grow so that they can also provide better cell service and then we the people will have a choice, NOT TO GET SCREWED. Verizon, you are going to be the reason that a lot of time is going to be wasted in your stores because of processing numerous returns and a lot of Fed Ex charges on you for people retuning your trash items…unless you want to get it right the first time and or BECOME AMERICAN again and restore the 30 day policy. Verizon’s 4G network and or MOTO products still have so many bugs in them that you might as well keep your 3G and wait for another year or so until they fix everything and stop their devious, deceptive tricks, restore the 30 day policy and start selling products that work out of the box.     First off let me say that as far as the PHONE SERVICE, it has been great…however…here is what I have experienced with the 3G Droid Bionic and Verizon. I decided to get the Droid Bionic 4G since they are supposed to have 4G service in my area. It’s either their service or the product that is not 100% 4G like my 3G HTC Imagio is 100% 3G, the so called "4G" Bionic flips in and out. I can’t count how many hours I’ve been on the phone with techs at Verizon and Moto but each time, they all had something different to say, but nothing ever worked and if it did, it didn’t work for long before it went back to the same flip flop. There were several other issues as well but too many to list, but one is that when I was tethered and would get a notification it disconnected from the internet...NOT SUPPOSE TO HAPPEN. I had a specific need for the 4G and since it doesn’t work, I don’t NEED it.
    The biggest lie I bought into is that MOTO is/was supposed to release a software update that is supposed to fix the flip flop 3G to 4G. I talked to a tech tonight at Verizon that was honest enough to tell me that if there was one that was going to be released (within my 14 day period) that they would have been notified of that. Well guess what, he doesn’t have any notices. But every person I talked to at Verizon said there was going to be an update, is it another one of those…no one knows their butt from a hole in the grown or was he telling the truth. Well it makes sense now that when I was talking with the second level tech at MOTO he didn’t know what the heck I was talking about. There’s your proof that the people you call and talk to at Verizon are devious, deceptive jerks and are only out to make money off us and could really care less that you just spent a bundle of money on a piece of cow dung and that their only goal is to keep you tied into the 2 year contract.
    After talking with the last tech at Verizon that told me there was no notification of a software update coming from MOTO or at least not in the next two weeks, I decided to take back all my accessories to the Verizon store in my area and return the Bionic tomorrow. But guess what, unlike the rest of America where the return policies are 30 days, Verizon also changed the return policies on the accessories too. So I’m stuck with over $100 of “STUFF” that cannot be used on any other phone. My bad, I didn’t have my reading glasses, look 12 inches down the long small print page to see that it said 14 days, when I bought the “STUFF” and I didn’t know that Verizon’s changes applied to the accessories in there stores too. Why is this and issue because Verizon did have me buy another Bionic phone under a new 14 day policy but because I didn’t realize that same policy applied to the hardware at their local stores, I’m stuck with the “STUFF”.
    Guess what Verizon; you devious, deceptive jerks, what goes around comes around. You are going to get to know me real well in the coming days, weeks, months and years; I’m going to picket until the freakin cows come home and hopefully get on the local news channels too. I’m going to hopefully create a nationwide movement that will either ruin your company or force you to restore the 30 day policy and I don’t care if you try to sue me that will be even better as it will draw even more attention. Money is hard to come by these days and I’ll not let you screw me over like this and get away with it.
    Because you are treating your customers like cow dung, I WILL NEVER extend my contract again; when this contact ends I’m switching to another cell provider. I’ve been with you since 2004 but tomorrow I’m switching my family’s phones over as soon as possible since they are not under any contract; this I hope will catch on and others will do the same. We can support the other companies and help them grow so that they can also provide better cell service and then we the people will have a choice, NOT TO GET SCREWED.

    We have had this issue many, many times before including on the latest 3.6 rev. It appears that when the applicationCache has an update triggered by a new manifest file, the browser may still use only its local network cache to check for updates to the files in the manifest, instead of forcing an HTTP request and revalidating both the browser cache and the applicationCache versions of the cached file (seems there is more than one). I have to assume this is a browser bug, as one should not have to frig with server Cache-Control headers and such to get this to work as expected (and even then it still doesn't sometimes).
    The only thing that seems to fix the problem is setting network.http.use-cache to false (default is true) in about:config . This helps my case because we only ever run offline (applicationCache driven) apps in the affected browser (our managed mobile apps platform), but it will otherwise slow down your browser experience considerably.

  • Some Serious Bugs in Multicam

    Why has nobody fixed these major bugs? Makes the multicam feature Complete **** and unusable.
    I have 3 cameras on a wedding shoot. Synced em all up using PLural Eyes, make a multicam sequence and dropped it in there. Enabled multicam. So not only does the audio not work only (only left channel), but the multicam is completely full of crap! My third camera wasn't on the whole time, it was short clips. So whenever my third camera would shut off, the fricken multicam desides to always switch to the default camera as soon as the third camera goes off. Who the heck would do that? Causes more problems. Not only this, but if my third camera goes off, the video display goes red and DISABLES my choice, I can't switch to a second camera! Why would I want to switch to my second camera? Well my third camera went off, which by defualt, the multicrap decides to go to defualt camera, which happens to be the third camera, so it goes to a blank screen! and the multicrap outlines a red box which disables my camera and I cant choose another camera until the third camera comes back on! What balony crap coding  nonsense is this?

    and i even don't always have continuous video in the default track, i've just edited a concert shot with 4 cameras, all of them turned off sometimes due to various reasons, but no trouble to sync them, so i had holes in all 4 video tracks,
    i just went back to the project to try to reconstruct your "bug" and failed to get the multicam to stop.

  • Serious bugs in the SR400 gated photon counter LabVIEW drivers

    I am developing an application with SR400 and came
    across what I think is a bug in the LabVIEW driver. Essentially, none
    of the VI's allow you to set the preset counters. For instance, if you
    call Read VI and choose mode A, B for preset T, there is no way to
    specify preset T, which means that the count period defaults to some
    factory default, not a situation you want. This might also explain some
    of the timeouts some people are getting to SRQs that come later.
    Further,
    if you look at the block diagram of Read VI, the line selector string
    is set to "CM 0" for two distinct choices of the count mode. This is a
    serious bug. I do not know who wrote this driver, but it does seem, at
    least to me, that they did a rather shoddy job of it. How this driver even got certification to be posted at IDN is something I cannot explain.
    Comments welcome from those that use LabVIEW with SR400 and have used this driver.

    Hi. Dwell time of 2ms is good for me. It would be great if you can send me this file to circumvent the 2000points/measurement. Also, If i understand it right, if I set the Gate to CW, then my gate should always be open for the count period, they why do I have to set the gate parameters at all. I want to change the integration time, but for some reason I am not able to change it in your setup 2.VI at all. I made some changes in setup 2.vi. I removed the setting for channel B as I am not going to use it and I integrated the readchannel.vi into this file. I am not sure if I made a mistake in doing this. Now, I am able to write some data to a file, but I not as I want. If it helps, I am uploading my modified VI file and an example data file (Gate A width is 0.992s, Gate A delay and delay step are 0, Gate A mode is CW, Dwell time is 0.002s).

  • Serious Bugs

    Hi Tim/Klaus.
    I'm posting this here in the hopes that it will get a bit more attention than is being paid in Metalink. I've run into several serious bugs that need addressing:
    1) If there are xml-special characters in the data coming from the database (e.g. an '&') then, according to the people at Metalink, I'm supposed to escape them. That's an unacceptable answer. I expect the parser to do that for me. That's why I bought it.
    2) When using CVS as an output type, if a null value comes back from the database nothing is emitted into the output stream. For example, if I have 3 columns A, B, and C, if column B is null the jar's emit:
    A,C
    instead of
    A,,C
    which means I have to wrap every column in nvl(...) calls.
    3) In the documentation it specifically states that you can dynamically append a WHERE clause to a query using PL/SQL functions (BI Users Guide, Part# B40017-01, page 4-32). I cannot get it to work and so I submitted a report to Metalink. They're answer was "we don't think that this can be done". The WHY is it in the User Guide???
    4) CSV output sends out files with an extension of .txt which means you have to take extra steps to get the data into Excel (ok, so that one isn't too serious :)
    5) When I configure the SSO server to use WNA (which I have gotten to work) when I try to launch the Word plugin and login, the server throws a 500 misconfigured error. It works if I don't use the SSO server.
    6) The $CURRENT_SERVER_URL problem
    These are causing us real headaches. Can anyone answer some of these questions?

    1) Special characters should be removed, however, I don't know what your doing. By the way a parser doesn't remove anything, it parses.
    3) Lexical paramters in where clauses in bi publisher enterprise 5.6.2 work like you would expect them to (like reports 6i), however bi publisher in the e-business suite they do not work as expected and lexicals are not treated by value. It's completly backwards since you would expect the functionality to work in 11i. With that being said, I don't know what your doing in your report. The functionality works.
