Serious issue in delegated administration

I have serious issue in delegated administration. i have created delegated admin
role and assign to group. so that i should be able to view/modify only that
group, but i can view/modify using API all groups irrespective whether the role
is assigned or not for a group.
I have scenario like this.
1. Create a group called "officeAdmin"
2. Create a group called "users" under group "officeAdmin"
3. Create a user called "companyadministrator" under "everyone" tree structure
of admin portal
4. create delegated administrator role called "companyrole" for a user "companyadministrator"
5. assign "companyrole" to group "officeAdmin". so user "companyadministrator"
will be administrator for "officeadmin" group and its child.
Now my requirements is when "companyadministrator" login i should get only groups
which he can administer i.e in this case i should get only "officeadmin" and "users"
groups.
Please help me how i should programatically get the groups "officeadmin" and "users"
when "companyadministrator" logs in.
test the scenaio : create the above scenario using admin portal and then login
as "companyAdministrator" and you can see only "officeAdmin" and its child groups.
thanks, shashi

Jeanne,
Thanks for answering.
I tried changing the setting Preferred Navigation Pane
Format, however, the results were not satisfactory.
What is the most interesting aspect of the second issue
(broken Glossary pane) is that the issue exists in newer browsers
or browser versions (on Linux an HP-UX) and that on Windows
systems, the issue was not seen with all browsers which were
tested.
Has anybody else spotted these issues, too?

  • Configuring Delegated Administrator

Following the Deployment Example of Sun Java Communications Suite 5 on a single host..
In the Configuring Delegated Administrator and Communications CLI when I run
    #/export/home/mail/SUNWcomm/sbin/config-commda
and after entering the required input and going through the configuration I get:
    FAILED: /bin/sh -c /export/home/mail/SUNWcomm/sbin/config-appsvr8x-commcli
    deploy : status = 1
FAILURE: Number of task failed:1. Please check install log
    /export/home/mail/SUNWcomm/install/commda-config_20070613164740.log
    for further details.
So it looks like this is the only task that fails which relates to the Application Server.
Any clue into how I can resolve this failure? Thank you..

I started fresh from scratch, installing Solaris 10 with proper Disk layout then installing the SUN Java Communications Suite 5. I found two problems with my previous installation: 1. I logged in Common Desktop Environment (CDE) using a username who is a member of sysadmin group (not root). I su to root and ran the scripts. This prevented me from starting the installation in GUI mode forcing me to continue on with the text based installation. This is probably why the copying failed at the time of configuring Delegated Admin. Once I logged in as root in CDE after the fresh installation I was able to start GUI installation mode. 2. The Delegated Administration Configuration Wizard started in GUI mode but with the missing Next button, restarting the script fixed that problem. The config-commda ran all tasks successfully.
A key observation that I found reading previous Delegated Admin issues is that consistency in providing admin accounts and passwords. Because there are essentially three components that need credentials, one must be EXTREMELY careful configuring these accounts.
    I am getting an error:
    Jun 12 21:40:30 mail webserved[1064] : pkcs11_softtoken: Keystore version failure.
Any idea what this failure means. Otherwise everything else is going excellent. Thx for the help.

  • Non-English characters not displaying correctly - Serious Issue

My corporate email is on a Lotus Domino server with Lotus Traveler installed.
I have set my PlayBook (with OS 2) up to syncronize with the corporate email trough Active Sync (see http://alturl.com/qh3nn), which works perfectly.
I have however noticed that in some emails special non-english characters are displayed correctly but in some emails special non-english characters are displayed as a black diamond with a question mark inside.
This is of course a serious issue as most non English speaking countries use some special characters.
When trying to understand this problem how can I analyse the emails and see what character set is being used?
And of course better; has someone solved this?

I am having the same problem. Is there any update available?

  • I am having some serious issues with firefox, i can't print anything because it is stuck on fax and I can't use any of the drop down menus on any site

I am having some serious issues with firefox to the point of choosing another search engine. I can't print anything because it is stuck on fax and won't let me change it to my printer when i do try to select my printer it jumps right back to fax. The drop down menus do not work on any of the sites I go to. For example when purchasing clothes and you have to choose a size from a drop down menu I can't do it when I click on the drop down menu it doesn't work at all. I don't have a virus I ran my virus protector and no viruses are present. I don't have any suspicious issues going on with my computer so there has to be something in Firefox that is causing my issues. I tried internet explorer and I don't have any issues there. I hope you can help me because I love Firefox and would really like to continue to use it.

Lots of issues there, main one getting fcpx going again, try deleting the preferences using the utility deveoped by these guys.

Try deleting your render files and re-rendering the project.
Start with these and let us know how you go.

  • I am having serious issues trying to alter my old iCloud account with an old non-functioning email to my new apple id with a new email address. The message keeps coming up on all my apple products with my old email (which is not available anymore).

I am having serious issues trying to alter my old iCloud account with an old non-functioning email to my new apple id with a new email address. The message keeps coming up on all my apple products with my old email (which is not available anymore).

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account.  I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there.  On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back.  Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email.  The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?

  • What program to use to repair a hard disk with "serious" issues?

Norton Disk Doctor that came preloaded on my G3 iBook found some "serious issues" that must be repaired with Disk Doctor on CD-ROM. When I go to Symentec website to order Disk Utility Software on CD-ROM, I find only such utility software avilable for PC.
Apple Disk Utility also found that this hard disc needs to be repaired, but the Repair button is not active, even when I restart the computer with OS X CD-ROM.
    Any suggestions, please?
    iBook G3   Mac OS X (10.1.x)

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Try starting up in Single-User Mode and running fsck. (File system check.)
At the command-line prompt, type /sbin/fsck -fy
Press Return. fsck will go through five "phases" and then return information about your disk's use and fragmentation. Once it finishes, it'll display this message if no issue is found:
** The volume (nameofvolume) appears to be OK
If fsck found issues and has altered, repaired, or fixed anything, it will display this message:
*** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED ***
Important: If this message appears, repeat the fsck command you typed in step 2 until fsck tells you that your volume appears to be OK (first-pass repairs may uncover additional issues, so this is a normal thing to do).
When fsck reports that your volume is OK, type reboot at the prompt and then press Return.
Your computer should start up normally and allow you to log in.
This allows you to repair the drive without the CD or third-party software. If after multiple tries with fsck, errors remain, post back and we will explore other possible solutions.

Suddenly I can't log in System Access Manager & Delegated Administrator page. Yesterday,I could.Given that you have provided nothing in the way of usable information to isolate the problem I can only suggest restarting your directory server (assuming it hasn't crashed) then restarting the web-container hosting Access Manager and see if that fixes the problem.
If not, you will have to look further into the web-server logs and the directory server logs to see why the problem is occurring.

  • W540 + Ultra docks = big serious issue

Hello everyone, We recently ordered 30+ x240s and w540 laptops using the ultradocks. Here's the prequel
    1. initially they had the issue with monitors going blank, that has been fixed with a firmware update
    2. there was a second firmware update ver 2.21 that fixes some issues with HP monitors. Ok , done.
Ok now all is well, we have the x240s on the docks and w540s with their docks + the 175w powersupply supplies etc.
Now we have users that wanted 27inch and some 30 inch monitors and a big big problem comes up.
The docks cannot drive anything higher then those 24inch monitors (1920x1200). the 27 inch (2560x1440) and the 30inch (2560x1600) does not work AT all.
it does not work with even ONE of those monitors hooked into the dock not speaking of the 2 that users wanted.
So w540+ultra dock + 1 27/30 inch monitor = nothing, blank screen, go to display settings and it detects a grey option
Now, the w540 without the ultra dock and hooked directly into a 27/30 inch monitor = no problem, we have full functionality.
We have tried every combination to try to get it to work and it's a no go.
Researched the dock's DVI port and see if we can possibly use that, nope, the DVI is only single link so our only option are the 2 display ports on the dock.
Of course those don't work at all. We have opened a ticket with lenovo and it's been escalated, awaiting responds.
This maybe a serious issue I am seeing here since we have 30+ docks and more coming. (yes we have tested on them all and their firmwares are 2.21)
Anyways, if anyone has run into this please confirm. Suggestions are welcome, but I am sure we have tried just about everything.
    Thanks Everyone, J

I was able to connect a W540 to an Ultra Dock (170W) in "Standard" mode and then get an external monitor working at a resolution of 3840 x 2160. The monitor is a Samsung U28D590D connected via the DisplayPort on the docking station. Note that "Advanced" mode was very unstable, and often crashed within a few minutes. Standard mode works when connected via DisplayPort but would also crash instantly and repeatedly if connected via HDMI.
Tested with a variety of bios, firmware and driver versions. Including System BIOS v2.17 & v2.18. Docking station firmware v2.22 and multiple Intel and NVIDIA driver versions. None worked with HDMI or in Advanced mode. Hopefully this gets fixed at some point.

  • I think there is a bug in safari......Whenever i swipe my fingers for going to the previous page on safari the tabs open get hanged up and i have to restart safari. This is a serious issue.!

    Serious issue.....

Might be a Safari extension issue...
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

  • Delegated Administrator Force UID to Email local Part on account creation

I would like to force the login id on account creation to be the same as the email local part.
So essentially mail local_part = uid.
I think I can make the field non editable by editing the JSP and xml templates or Security.properties however I don't see a way to change the default value that is presented to the user for the login_id.
If I could grab the previously entered email value from the session (using JSP) I could hack it in with JS. However the DAprinciple won't let me dump the session so I can see the attribute names.
Am I going about this the wrong way?

For the most part the system is going to be email only, I could go through and set all the appropriate settings on all the comms components to use the mail attribute as the auth lookup, but from a management perspective I think it would make much more sense to have user@domain actually be [email protected] a user to log in with their mail: attribute value is much more flexible. Restricting the uid to be the same as the mail: attribute prevents you from easily changing the mail address (e.g. the user changes their name when they get married) without also having to change the uid (which is a long-tedious process to be avoided if possible).
If uid = local_part I don't have to deal with any of that. This is true. That being said I couldn't see any easy way to enforce this requirement using Delegated Administrator.
I mean considering that traditionally a uid on a unix system has always mapped that user to that system's domain wouldn't this make sense? Or am I missing something....Mapping the uid <=> email address made sense when the user logged into the mail-server to access their email. It was easy to remember (and route) the email address login-uid@unix-host.
Given that this is no requirement for the uid to be related to the mail address, nor the mail-server hostname to the domain of the user for that matter, why continue to enforce it?

    Shane.

  • HT201401 I am writing to bring to your attention a serious issue I had with your product. My brother  bought one iPhone 4, 16 gb mobile phone from US last year and gifted me in India. but it couldnt be serviced in India why ?

    Hi,
I am writing to bring to your attention a serious issue I had with your product. My brother  bought one iPhone 4, 16 gb mobile phone from US last year and gifted me in India. In few months it had a problem with its home key. I took the phone to service service center and they told me that your phone is having hardware problem and as the phone is under warranty cannot be replace in India. You can come back when this is out of warranty. Now few days back when i walk again to the service center they stated that this phone we cannot repair here in India because of this phone purchased from US.
This a total disgraceful service from such a big brand like apple.
I hope to hear back from you about this incident.
    Sincerely,
    Niranjan

No iPhone has a international warranty. Warranty is valid only in
country of original purchase. Since iPhone was bought in the US,
you must return the iPhone to the US. That means you must personally bring
the iPhone to Apple in the US or send it to a friend/relative in the US for them
to take to Apple. After replacement, your friend can ship it back to you. Shipping
and insurance costs are your responsibility.
Apple does not accept international shipments for evaluation/repair
and will not ship replacements out of the country.

  • Assign a message store partition using delegated administrator

    Hi!
i'm using messaging server and delegated administrator that comes in the JES Q5 2005 i'd like to assing the message store partition to the user when i create their account but i can't see any option to do that using delegated administration console. Is there a way to do that.?
In older delegated administrator versions i could do that.
    Thanks in advance

It does appear that the current DA does not have this capability. There is a RFE for it in place.
At present, the only options you have are to:
    1. Use comm-admin to change the partition
    or
    2. Use ldapmodify or Console to make the change in Directory.
