Server 0 and Dispatcher are in status Starting Framework

Hi All,
This issue is mainly about Portal.
The Server 0 and Dispatcher are in status Starting Framework for a very long time..
The status does not change at all.
The dev_jrfc.trc under server 0 log does not get updated and the log directory also under server 0 does not get updated.
This is an issue in production system,so it would be of great help if some one could chip in soon.
P.S The ABAP part of the system is working fine.
Regards
Bharathwaj V

Hi Bharathwaj,
Sometimes the amount of memory of java stack is insufficient or not correctly managed by the application server.
This is a common problem and I have to take a time upon this issue several times !!!
First of all  take a time to check this link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/a2/bb0a412a06f023e10000000a155106/frameset.htm it could be handful about the problem you are proving there.
Sometimes thee Java VM, which executes the instance bootstrap, is started by using the following log file
<DIR_INSTANCE>/work/std_bootstrap.out
The following problems may have been logged:
You must verify there some invalid Java VM parameter
like unrecognized option: <some option>
The option supplied in the bootstrap.JavaParameters property is not valid for the Java VM. Correct the property value and try again.
Try to manage the amout of memory of your JVM
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Incompatible initial and maximum heap sizes specified
The memory settings supplied in the bootstrap.JavaParameters and bootstrap.MaxHeapSize properties do not fit together (for example, MaxHeapSize is smaller than the initial heap size specified with u2013Xms).
Correct the property values and try again.

  • Server0 stuck in status Starting Framework

    Hello,
    Server0 is stcuk in status - Starting Framework. I restarted the entire Java instance, but still Server0 shows the same thing.
    dev_server0 file in work directory has no error.
    However defaultTrace.11.trc has teh following error - com.sap.engine.services.jndi.persistent.exceptions.JNDIException: Error during s object serialization
    I m am unable to find any details about this serialization error and how to resolve it.
    Please help.

    Hi Gautam,
    We have tried the same but it works slightly differently for us.
    I have 5 application servers with 5 java instances connecting to central instance.
    I get this error and the server0 fails to start with only one specific application server.
    I am not able to get more info on this error.

  • Making Server and Dispatcher as windows services

    Hi,
    How do I make server and dispatch as a part of windows services. So that they can get start when operating system starts instead of going to the folder and clicking on go.bat. Any documentation?
    Thanks in advance.
    Maya.

    Hi Maya,
    here is how to do it:
    1. Start the Config-Tool (DRIVE:\usr\sap\<J2EE_SID>\j2ee\j2ee_<INSTANCE_NR>\configtool\configtool.bat)
    2. Go to: cluster\dispatcher -> NT Service (Tab)
         choose: Enabled NT Service
    3. Go to: cluster\server -> NT Service (Tab)
         choose: Enabled NT Service
    3. Go to: cluster\state -> NT Service (Tab)
         choose: Enabled NT Service
    4. Go to: cluster\dispatcher -> services -> r3startup
         elements = 0
         -> Add
    5. Go to: File -> Aply
    6. In a Windows CommandShell (CMD) type:  DRIVE:\usr\sap\<J2EE_SID>\j2ee\j2ee_<INSTANCE_NR>\configtool\service -install
    7. Now you can start State Controler, Dispatcher, Server & from the windows services (in this sequence).
    You can also configure the services to start automatic (at windows startup) or not.
    Hope this helps,
    Robert
    PS: You can also consider installing the startup framework with the Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP2 on J2EE 6.20. It's also installed as a windows service and additionaly takes care of restarting processes, which have died/crashed as well as makes possible to unify the clustermanagement (under different operational systems).

  • How to identify the installed Weblogic Server and JDK are 32bit or 64bit?

    Hi everyone,
    I have a question ~
    Both Weblogic Server and JAVA JDK are installed on the server already, but I only know the Weblogic Server is 10.3.4.0 and JAVA JDK version is 1.6.0_25.
    I know the 64bit Weblogic Server installation file is a wlsXXXX_generic.jar package and 64bit JAVA JDK needed also.
    But, since the Weblogic installed already, there are no such installation files on the Linux Server now.
    I have tried the "java -version" for java version and check the Weblogic version from Weblogic console.
    How to identify the installed Weblogic Server and JDK are 32bit or 64bit with Linux command? Or is there any way to check it?

    What you can try to do is use WLST (or an MBean browser, such as JConsole or JRockit Mission Control) and connect to the adminserver.
    For example when using WLST:
    # set the environment by using setWLSEnv.sh (located in the ${WL_HOME}/server/bin directory).
    # start WLST by using: java weblogic.WLST
    # connect to the adminserver
    connect('adminusername','adminpassword');
    # change to the serverruntime environment
    serverRuntime();
    # show the attributes
    ls();
    # Here an attribute is shown called WebLogicVersion that shows the version of WebLogic
    -r--   WeblogicVersion                              WebLogic Server 10.3.5.0  Fri Apr 1 20:20:06 PDT 2011 1398638
    # Note that this does not show if is 32 bits or 64 bits to retrieve this information you have obtain the JVM version
    # change the directory
    cd('JVMRuntime/AdminServer');
    # show the attributes
    ls();
    -r--   Version                                      R28.0.1-21-133393-1.6.0_20-20100512-2126-linux-x86_64
    # when you have something like x86 at the you are running a 32 bit version, if you have something like x86_64 you are running a 64 bits versionAs mentioned above you can also retrieve this information by using a MBean browser.

  • JAX-RPC: Web service where both server /and/ client are services?

    I'm considering a two-way Web service in an application that I'm designing and would appreciate any insight from prior experience.
    This will be a standard client-server application, where the server broadcasts messages and the client, in turn, can request further information about the messages that it receives (think RSS-style updates, but with more interaction). [strong]However[strong], instead of having the client poll the server for new messages, I'd like to have the client register itself with the server as a message listener. The server is currently implemented as a Web service on port X. I'd like the client to register itself with the server, and then receive messages on port Y.
    I'm considering a design like the following (note the directions of the inheritance arrows):
    ( Server class )  --<-- ( RemoteServerImpl class ) -->-- / RemoteServer interface /
           |
    ( Listener class ) --<-- ( RemoteListenerImpl class ) -->-- / RemoteListener interface /Some considerations:
    * In both cases, the client and server are broken out into an interface and two classes. The non-Remote classes implement all of the functionality. The RemoteX interfaces declare the methods that will be exposed via RPC, and the RemoteXImpl classes are empty subclasses of the non-Remote classes.
    * In order to register itself with the Server, the Listener must be passed in as a method parameter, and thus conform to the JAX-RPC specification for value types. However, value types can't implement java.rmi.Remote.
    * Only the Server and Listener know anything about each other.
    * This application can be run either remotely or locally, depending on how the Server and Listener are instantiated. For the latter, they're instantiated directly and the listener is registered with the Server. For the latter, the RemoteX interfaces will point to the service stubs.
    * I don't see an easy way to allow both the Server and the Listener to have references to each other (at least now without some casting magic), since one of them will have to conform to the value type specification, which requires that all of its fields must be valid JAX-RPC types.
    I've got the Server portions implemented and working, and am now going to turn to the Listener stuff. Can anybody see a fundamental problem with this design, or can suggest something better?

    Hi There,
    Because web services are fundamentally a Services-oriented architecture, and not an Object-oriented one, you are unable to pass objects by reference (only by value) hence the design decision to not allow rmi.Remote objects to be sent across the wire. The best way would be to abstract an object which does itself not represent a server, but a route to a server (lets call it ServerPointer). This must contain address, port, service info, etc.
    Now, in your Server class, create a factory method which takes a ServerPointer, and returns a reference to a
    remote server, e.g. protected Server createServer( ServerPointer p ) (using the necessary APIs to get such a reference)
    Hope this helps...

  • What ideal Win Server and Hardware are recommended for 11g DBs

    What best Win Server and Hardware are recommended for 11g DBs?
    - Processor
    - Memory
    - Storage
    - Network
    - Etc...
    Following is the scenario:
    - The server will be for development and test DBs
    - More than one databases will be installed each for each project
    - Maximum 4 databases will be accessed each time
    - Maximum DB size for each DB will be in couple of GBs.

    Which version of 11g ? For 11gR2, see the requirements here - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e16773/reqs.htm#i1011417
    Any server that exceeds these requirement will suffice. Obviously the more the number of processors, the faster the processors, the more the RAM, the more the disk etc etc, the better.

  • Connection fails if server and clients are in different subnets

    Hello,
    our Volume License Manager (v2.1) is running in another subnets than the clients (All machines are running under Windows XP-SP2 without Domains or ADS, just workgroups).
    The server is in subnet A (192.168.42.0/24), all clients are located in another subnet  B (192.168.50.0/24).
    Routing is properly configured and is working fine, traffic to the specific hosts is not blocked by a firewall. We can ping every machine,
    open telnet connections to the NILM, everything works.
    But if the clients try to connect to the remote NILM (both local client NI License Manager and VLM port settings are correct)  their connection attempt always
    times out with error code "NILM10"
    (I already read the mentioned KBs, no solution has helped so far). This is true if clients and server are separated.
    For testing purposes, i plugged one client into the server's subnet (server's IP: 192.168.50.250, client 192.168.50.10)
    and it worked perfectly. Is there a reason why  server and client have to be on the same subnet or is it some other kind of problem that I am not aware of?
    Thank you.
    Thorsten

    Hello Thorsten,
    Did you add the server's domain to the client computer's DNS settings. To do this, complete the following steps on the client computer:
    1. Open Local Area Network Settings from the Control Panel (Start»Control Panel»Network Connections»Local Area Connection)
    2. Click the Properties button
    3. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) from the list of network components
    4. Click the Properties button
    5. Click the Advanced button
    6. Change to the DNS tab
    7. Ensure Append these DNS suffixes is selected
    8. Click the Add button
    9. Enter the domain suffix of the license server and click Add
    10. Close any open dialog boxes, choosing OK and Close as necessary.

    Further you should check this KBs.

  • Is it a mandate that Connector Server and AD are on same server

    Hi,
    Please let me know if it is a mandate that both the connector server and AD server should be on the same server for OIM to do any operation on AD.
    Thanks

    The connector server for AD has to run on a Windows platform system as it uses .NET but it does not have to be on your domain controller.  We run the connector server and the AD domain on separate hosts.

  • CFIMAGE captcha issue - Cannot find /CFFileServlet, possibly because server and webroot are on different drives

    CFIMAGE captcha was working on my DEV system, where the wwwroot is in the same folder as CFServer is installed.
    It is NOT working when I move it to staging, which is identical to production - including the fact that CFServer is on D: drive, but wwwroot is on E: drive.
    Is there a way to map a location for the CFFileServlet folder?  I think this is the reason it isn't working in staging.
    V/r,
    ^_^

    May want to check your web server to be sure it's not Denying access to that folder based URL Request filtering.  Part of the ColdFusion lockdown guide recommends to Deny access to this folder unless you use CFImage, CFChart, CFPresentation, or CFReport.

  • J2EE engine hangs on status Starting Apps

    Hi All
    We are currently experiencing issues with our J2EE engine.  When we start it, it goes up to the status Starting Apps and never leaves that status.  There are no errors on any of the logs/traces under work directory or the server0/log directory.
    We are running EP 700 with Kernel Patch 146 on windows 2003 server.  If anyone has seen this type of issue, please advice.
    I have attached a java dump from std-server0.out file. I hope that helps

    Whenever there is a hang or slow performance situation in j2ee engine, one needs to take a few threaddumps on the server and dispatcher processes. In case of 'Startng applications' hang situation, take 5 threaddumps at an interval of 1 minute each. The threaddumps are directed to std_Server0.out file. Please open this file with the Angel's threaddump viewer (SAP Note 1044373, 1020246). You could check for the blocked threads (which hang the engine), runnable threads in the same state over the course of theaddudmp (making system slow), the no. of free application threads - if 0, it means the engine has run out of applicaiton threads. Configure MaxThreadCount of ApplicationThreadMananger for server to 250+ (mostly required by most of the applications, some XI apps need over 350).
    Last but not the least, one should also check garbage collection logs. Multiple back to back GCs could slow down the system. In this case, check if the JVM parameters are maintained as per note 723909.
    If you are seeing high CPU usage on the system during the hang/slow performance, refer to note 742395.
    Hope the above helps.
    Regards,
    Snehal
