Server 10.4.6 rejects Webdav access from GoLive, but not from Dreamweaver

I have two web server Macs, running 10.3.9 and 10.4.6.
The 10.3.9 has no problem accepting connections from GoLive CS 8.0 (tryout version).
The 10.4.6 server will NOT let GoLive CS 8.0 (tryout version) connect to it. GoLive reports "cannot connect to http" THEN displays the underlying webdav error: "connection closed when expecting more data"
BTW BOTH servers accept Webdav connections from Dreamweaver, Transmit, various PC apps, etc. Only GoLive is being rejected.
Does anyone know why the the latest OS X Server would dislike GoLive so intensely?
Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, I don't have further advice based on your answer. I was only suggesting it as an area to check for inconsistency.
My understanding though, is that Basic authentication is best to be used for authenticating browsers for reading pages behind protected realms, and Digest was best suited for read/write WebDAV clients, although I can't now find the source of that info.
Perhaps test with Digest?

    Hi Vivek,
In Reporting Services, values for LogonUser, LogonDomain, and LogonCred are created when the report server connection is configured to use a domain account. As to the error that “The encrypted value for the "LogonCred" configuration setting cannot be decrypted”,
we can know that it relates to the domain account for report server connection.
To fix this issue, we can refer to the following steps:
Log in to SQL Server Database Engine in SQL Server Management Studio.
Under Security folder, give sufficient permissions for your domain account.
Open your Reporting Services Configuration (go to Start -> All Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2005 -> Configuration Tools -> Reporting Services Configuration)
Navigate to the Database Setup tab, select ‘Service Credentials’ as the Credentials Type, then type your domain account and password in there. Press Apply.
    Restart the Report Server services.

    Hope this helps.

On imac 10.6.8 using current version of Aperture.  How can I access the Aperture Library  on my external hard drive that I use with time machine for backup?  I can only access the application but not the library..

Go into Time Machine (the program not the bundle on the extrnal disk) and using Time Machine's browser go to the Folder where the library lives. You could look in the library bundle in Time Machine but that won't really tell you much,
If you want to make sure it truely has backed up your library you will need to restore it and open the restored library with Aperture.
If all this still has you confused you need to read up on Time Machine in order to get a feel for how it works, for what it is doing and for how to restore files from it.

  • Can log into Yosemite server (4.0) VPN service with a Mavericks client, but not Yosemite client

    Sever Info:
Yosemite Server 4.0 running on a late 2009 Mac Mini with 8 GB RAM with vpnd service enabled
The server was upgraded to Yosemite - not clean install - this may not matter (see below)
Airport extreme router with standard VPN UDP ports for L2TP forwarded to server (500, 1701, 4500)
    Client info:
MB Air 13" early 2014 with 8 GB RAM
    Yosemite
Mavericks 10.9.5 running as a Parallels virtual machine (don't ask - I need it to run an app for work that is not yet compatible with Yosemite)
OD service is NOT running - no VPN connections ever occurred from ANY client with this service running - OD is not needed in my case fortunately
With the OD service off, I can connect via the Mavericks virtual machine just fine, but not with Yosemite. With Yosemite, the ppp connection appears to occur, but server config requests appear to fall on deaf ears (client side doesn't appear to respond) until the connection times out. Can't figure out what triggers the client response to a server config request. Client side complains about no route to host and IP addresses don't get assigned to the connection.
The connection happens successfully in an eyeblink with the Mavericks client. Same username/password/shared secret in both instances.
Tried a generated .vpnconfig from the server, this also did not work.
It's possible that it is an auth problem, but can't figure out how the process occurs or what may be going wrong. There does not seem to be an obvious way to increase the granularity of the logging such that it might give other hints - at least that I can find. I found plenty of references to VPN issues when people upgraded from Mountain Lion to Mavericks as well as work arounds for this. I tried the most promising looking of those - no love. I reverted everything back to stock install since I could at least connect with Mavericks.
If log entries would be helpful, they are included below. I've stared at them long enough - perhaps a new set of eyes can provide a hint.
In addition, I can find no documentation regarding the VPN service in Yosemite server so as to get a clue as to whether there have been changes in racoon since Mavericks.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I would be glad to supply any other info needed for an accurate diagnosis .
    Pat

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Need to have access in report but not in analysis.

    Hi Experts,
All my users have analysis access ( adhoc ), in that only Admin users have access for detail table access. General users will have access only at Agg level.
    Below is my requirement:
User A ( General ), he has access to subject area but not on detail table ( restricted detail table access in RPD ) so when ever he is creating his own report he will not be able to see detail table. this is good working as expected.
User B ( Admin ), he can able to create report using detail tables columns as well.
my requirement is if user B creates a report with detail table columns and shares with general user, general user should able to see the detail table columns ?can any one suggest us how to do this ?
    We are on 11.1.1.6.5.
    Thx...

Declare a session variable (say, USER_SECURITY). Use init block to set it to zero. Allow user A to access detail table but add a condition that whenever any presentation columns from detail table is accessed by him, following condition must be met: ValueOf(NQ_SESSION.USER_SECURTIY) = 1 (use filter tab in permission window)
At this point, user still can not see data from detail table. The administrator can create a report and set this session variable to 1 in the advanced tab of the report. So user will be able to view the report always. The scope of the modified value of the session variable would be at report level, so there is no requirement of resetting it.

  • Security Access to Parent but not Base member

In BPC Security, Is there a way to provide access to a parent member but not to the children that the parent rolls up to?
The user needs to see the aggregate amount in the Parent, but the requirement is for them to not have access to the child entities that make up that parent.
For example, say Entity is a secure Dimension, and I have Parent MyParent1.  Under MyParent I have Child1, Child2, Child3.
The requirement is to allow the user to see the aggregate value in MyParent1, but not be able to see the values in Child1, Child2 or Child3.
    Greg

I think there are 2 possiblities. One is to grant the user his own member access profile (since a user canhave more than 1), and ONLY give him access to the Parent. The non out of the box way I can see doing that is to write the aggregate value to a standalone member in a seperate or same parent hierarchy.  That way the values are dsiconnected.
    Hope this helps.

  • WebDAV access from File Manager gone from Belle

The Files (formerly File Manager) app has been stripped of its WebDAV feature.
For me, this is a big inconvenience, as it means that N8, E6, 701 now has no built-in means of exchanging files with our home Synology NAS box. (AFAIK, Belle has no FTP, NFS or AFP client "out of the box" or available in the Store, and I'd have to cough up £3 for MyExplorer to add a Windows file-sharing (SMB) client to N8, E6, 701 etc.)
I don't know if anyone involved with Belle on the Nokia side, reads this forum, but after asking them why they felt they had to remove a genuinely-useful feature, I would plead with them either to restore the WebDAV client functionality to Files, or provide a separate app to enable some kind of file-sharing (WebDAV, SMB, FTP, whatever).
If I have to pay for a third-party client to give me this functionality, no problem, then so be it, but I do have to ask why a 2012 smartphone platform is shipping without a single means of exchanging files over a network (and I don't count USB or Bluetooth file-transfer). For that matter: does anyone know why WebDAV was removed from Files?
Maybe I'm the only user who even noticed that WebDAV was gone, but I just had to "vent" a bit...

    And this answer I received from th devoloper of myExplorer in March;
    Hello!
Unfortunately, myExplorer does not support WebDAV. However you can still connect remotely to your NAS or other file server in two ways:
        A. By forwarding the SMB port in your router. This is easy to setup but it is not very secure. While authentication information (user name and password) is protected, as they are never transmitted unencrypted, the rest of the traffic will go over unsecured connection. Here is what you have to do for this to work:
        1. Forward port 445 (or 139) on the file server (or NAS) in your router to another port (for example 22678 - the number is not important, what is important is to write it down for later).
        2. Create a new network share in myExplorer and type the external IP address of your router in the field "Computer IP address). If your external IP address is dynamic and you are using some kind of dynamic DNS, instead of IP address, please fill the DNS name of the router in the field "Computer DNS name".
        3. Fill in the port number from step 1 in the field "Port number"
        4. Select "Always ask" as access point because you may need to use different access points depending on your current physical location (3G on the road or Wi-Fi in the office, etc.).
        5. Please note that you will have to add exception to your firewall for port 445 or 139 as most firewalls block the ports 445 and 139 when the other IP address is not local. This is true even for the built-in firewall in Windows.
        B. By using VPN network.  This method is better from security point of view but it requires more work to setup. First you need to setup a VPN network from your phone to the LAN where the NAS is located. This can be done in few different ways and the concrete steps depend on what kind of VPN you are using. After you have working VPN, all you need to do is this:
        1. Fill in the NetBIOS name or the (local, not external) IP address of the computer.
        2. Select the created VPN access point as the access point for this network share.
Please note that both methods above require some knowledge about the networks. We are planning to create a tutorial, which explains the needed steps but it is not ready yet.
    Best regards!

    I wrote; 2 questions,
Can I log in to a nas through webdav and using 3G
Can I have the address as https://mynasserver.no-ip.org:7001 when connecting over 3G. The server don’t have a 192.168.1.1 adress over the webb

  • Remote Access VPN connecting but not passing traffic

I have a remote access VPN configured on a device here. I'm able to connect a device and it assigns me an IP address out of the pool, and injects the routes to its local network, but I'm not able to pass any traffic through the VPN and none of the IPSec SA counters increment for the dial-in connection. I've compared the config here to the samples from documentation and I don't know what I'm missing. Config is below.

  • Mail / iCloud rejects password on one mac but not the other

I have just upgraded my MacbookPro and my MacPro from 10.6 to 10.7.
For whatever reason - the MBP works fine and can access all my email accounts, whilst the MP is constantly rejecting the password for iCloud.
My Mobileme account was upgraded to iCloud several months ago and has been in daily use on both macs ever since.
The only difference in the upgrades is that the MBP upgrade was not a clean install, whereas the MP was installed with a clean hard drive and then all apps/data was transfered over.
Disk permissions have been repaired and that has made no difference.
Both macs are on the same network, with the same passwords and same account settings. Any suggestion how i can resolve this problem?

i solved the problem by adding a new mail account to Mail, re-inputting the email address and password, then deleting the old problematic one.
    works a treat!

  • HT4437 How do I get my Air Play to access my two WD Share Space and my booklive duo?. Able to access with PS3 but not Apple TV Ver 3.  Have all my movies and music on it and do not want to have a computer on for it.

I had bought two Network Drives so I could watch my own movies anywhere in my house and clear up the clutter of all the DVDs, Blurays and CDs, Works greate with the PS3,  Bought the Apple TV version 3 because it was smaller and resently bought the IPAD 3 and have the IPHONE 4S and other apple products.
My wish is to access my Network drives with the Apple TV - I have herd of Jailbreaking it (Not Avalible from where I can tell for the Version3) - but why didn't Apple ever think of accessing a Network drive and is their a work around for this?   Should I just shutup  and wait till Jail Breaking is avalible for the Version 3?.
    Thank you for any help

I'm sure they did think of it, but quickly discarded the idea because of the horrendous user experience this causes.

  • Gmail can be accessed in Explorer but not Firefox: why?

When I try to access Gmail on Firefox it keeps asking me to start a new account. Even the signin page takes me back to this new account creation page.
When I go to Explorer, there is no problem signing in. So the problem must be Firefox. I tried removing cookies, etc. Nothing works.

    Hello,
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
    <b> To Enable SafeMode </b>
*You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
*''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: "Firefox > Quit Firefox"; Linux: "Firefox/File > Quit")

  • App malfunctions when accessed via URL but not when accessed in workspace

I have an application that I have built at work. I have it on a test box. I have been using the app for several months with no problem. Because it is on the test box I am able to use the url to log into the app e.g. http://infotest.finone.bankone.net:7777/pls/htmldb/f?p=229
Today I started having problems with the app not functioning properly for no apparent reason. A file browse upload process stopped uploading the files even though I got no error messages. Editable items stopped passing values to the next page when I click to edit something.
The weird thing is when I log into my workspace on the test box and then launch the app from there everything works perfectly as before! I went in an deleted and purged all the sessions and then logged into the app via the url again and it worked for a minute then I had problems creep back up.
This app is supposed to move to the production server soon. Any ideas why this weirdness is happening??!!

    Hi,
As far as the file upload process...nothing happens and nothing appears in the Web Server Error Log at least not from what I see perhaps I am not looking in the right place. It's like as if the process just didn't actually activate or something although the page does in fact submit because the field values are cleared and the success message I coded in appears. So I know the page is submitted.
The values being passed were actually part of the Wizard Form/Report on a Table. You click the Edit icon and it passes the value of the PK field to the subsequent field on the next page within the same session ID and fetches the appropriate row from the underlying table.
So far not a single other person has had this happen to them. Today the app worked perfectly without any of these issues. Can there be local settings on my PC that are conflicting with the session state and other things on the Application? I log in and out of the app close to a 100 times a day, could this be clogging up session id's or something?
Unfortunately its not consistently reproducible from the standpoint that today its not doing it all but when it was happening yesterday it certainly was consistent so at this point I don't know what to think.

  • HT204187 outgoing mail rejects password on one computer but not the other

The mail program says the outgoing mail password is incorrect on wife's desktop computer, but mail works from her iPad.

I, too, have the same problems as listed above. I have changed my password in my mail account several times. Each time my iPhone and iPad accept the new password and is able to send/receive mail. My macbookPro rejects it each time. I have tried deleting it from keychain...still did not fix the problem. Any other suggestions?
