Server 6i - rwmts60 - startup problems

I'm attempting to start Oracle Reports Server 6i for the first time on a Solaris SPARC 2.6 platform, but am getting an error message.
"REP-0186: Daemon failed to listed to port."
I'm using the following script:
#begin
#!/bin/ksh
export REPORTS60_PATH=$HOME/report_src
export TNS_ADMIN=$ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/rwmts60 name=Rep60_tmsws01
#end
This is its tnsnames.ora entry:
Rep60_tmsws01=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=tmsws01.)(PORT=1949))
I've changed the port value in tnsnames.ora t o a couple of different values. I've also checked for duplicate report servers, but there are none.
I've also removed that little period after the name of my workstation.
Any Hints ?
null

Fixed my own problem.
There is a field in sqlnet.ora called name.default_zone. It was set to = world. So the server was assuming that the report server entry in tnsnames.ora ends in .world, which it wasn't.
Appending .world to the server name did the trick.

  • Java Application Server  8.2 startup problem

    Hello,
I have installed j2ee SDK 1.4.03 on Windows. Then I started the Application
Server in the default domain1 by choosing in "Start default server".
Everything seems to be OK as I get message "Domain domain1 is ready to
receive client requests". I have a problem when I try to verify if the server is
running in the browser on http://localhost:8080/, the browser keeps tring
to open it but nothing is displayed. In the log I get this, which seems to me a bit
too short, as I saw the log of properly running server on another computer
(not everything may have been started). BTW I have got the same problem
with the Glassfish server. Can anyone help me please?

Are you sure that HTTP port used by this installation was actually 8080? It is the default value, but if that port is in use at installation time, alternative port will be assigned. Installer will show you the new value, but it is easy to miss if you are not looking very closely.
To find out which ports are actually being used check <installdir>domains/domain1/config/domain.xml file.

  • Weblogic Server 8.1 startup problem

We are trying to install Weblogic 8.1 server in a isolated lab with no internet
access. The opearting system is Solaris 8.
The problem we are experiencing is that during start up it will attempts to contact
jakarta.apache.org and time out after ~ 25 minutes. I am hoping someone can direct
me to a web page with inforamtion on how to remove the need to contact the website
or reduce the timeout period. I hae looked all over e-docs.bea.com for the information
and I could not find an answer. Thanks in advance.

start ur admin first as ./startweblogic.sh or double click on startweblogic.cmd if in windows OS
Then modify ur startmanagedweblogic file with admin url and port and also server name as ur managed servers name
Save that file as (save as option) startManagedWeblogic_M1.cmd and startManagedWeblogic_M2.cmd to start them
the admin url and port would be the same form M1 and M2
only the server_name will be different, M1 for M1 and M2 for M2
Next start ur managed servers and let me know

  • Weblogic server 8.1 sp5 startup problem

    Hello all,
I have been having a problem with Weblogic 8.1 sp5.
Twice in a week, I would start an admin and managed server and what would happen is that the managed server will not startup. I would click the it's startup .cmd file and it would pop up and then dissapear. This was my primary problem.
In one case the admin server terminal would show up but I would go to the admin console and it would not appear, hence the admin server could not start up.
What I would like to know is why when we click a startup .cmd file, the terminal would pop up and disappear and why servers don't start up in general? What areas should we look into?
    Any input is welcome.

start ur admin first as ./startweblogic.sh or double click on startweblogic.cmd if in windows OS
Then modify ur startmanagedweblogic file with admin url and port and also server name as ur managed servers name
Save that file as (save as option) startManagedWeblogic_M1.cmd and startManagedWeblogic_M2.cmd to start them

  • J2EE server startup problems

    Hi
I downloaded the J2EE development kit the other day and installed it on my laptop. When I ran 'Start default server' the J2EE server started up. This worked fine for about a day but now the startup bat file quickly executes and the server does not startup. I then installed it on my desktop to find that the same thing has happened. after a few startups. Does anyone have any ideas what might be the problem.
    Thanks
    John

Have the batch file redirect its outputs (both stdout and stderr) to files, rather than to a console window that closes immediately.
Redirecting stdout to a file is like this:
    ... >toafile.txt
Redirecting stderr varies between operating systems (I think) but is something like this:
    ... 2>toanotherfile.txt

  • SOA managed server startup problem

    Hi All,
I am facing an issue while starting the SOA Managed Server (soa_server1) using NodeManager.
    Backgound:
I have setup a soa domain, started up NM and admin server using NM in solaris environemnt. All runs fine but when I start MS using NM for the first time it throws error. If I start the MS from the admin console it starts fine. The execution steps I have performed-
    1. Started NodeManager - using script
    2. Shutdown the NodeManager , changed the nodemanager.properties file to update parameter [startScriptEnabled=true] and start it again.
    3. Started AS using NM [nmConnect(..) and nmStart('AdminServer')]
    4. Enrolled the NM with the current machine [connect(..), nmEnroll(domain_dir, nodemanager_home)]
    5. Copied the boot.properties to security/ dir of soa_server1
    6. Started MS using NM - Throws error
Does it really mean I have to start the MS through admin console everytime I start MS first time in the machine? (I am working on automation on SOA env where everynight env wipes off and installs the SOA stack from scratch)
    The soa-server1.out looks like:

    Hi,
I have implemented the above mentioned suggestions. But seems to have no luck. I had
    1. Copied startup.properties to ${DOMAIN_HOME}/servers/soa_server1/data/nodemanager
    2. Copied the boot.properties to ${DOMAIN_HOME}/servers/soa_server1/security
    These did not added any value, so I though of passing the parameters at nmStart() as WLST object;
arg="Arguments=\" -Dweblogic.management.server=localhost:8001\"" (My AS and MS runs on same machine)
    prps=makePropertiesObject(arg)
    nmStart('soa_server1',props=prps)
This started throwing Boot Identity file not valid.
    I changed my way.
    1. Connected to Admin Server using WLST
    connect (username, password)
    2. Start MS
    start('soa_server1')
Its working fine now and under NM control. Not sure what more NM demands when starting without AS.
    Regards,
    Bhaskar

  • Startup problem with Lion OS 10.7.3

Just recently, I've been experiencing a startup problem with Lion. I don't usually have any issues running my Mac, so I'm at a loss why this is happening now.
I have an Intel Mac Pro running 10.7.3. I usually leaving my Mac running all the time and only restart when the need arises. In addition to being my main computer, this mac alsocontrols a MacMini that serves as a music server thru screen sharing.
This past weekend, I restarted my Mac and could not get past the grey screen. The mac chimes, the apple logo appears with the spinning gear, the blue screen briefly appears, but instead of progressing to the desktop it reverts to the grey screen with a repeating cycle of the spinning gear appearing (spins for a while, stops, disappears, reppears spinning, stops, disappears, over and over) - never progressing beyond that stage.
I decided to reinstall the system and things have been fine for the past few days. Today, restarting again resulting in the same problem.
I've tried several things without success. I disconnected all peripherals, reset the PRAM/SMC, ran Disk Utility from a install volume and ran repair and permissions (no problems reported). Tried safe mode startup - a progress bar appeared but never fully progressed and could not get to the desktop.
Recent changes included updating the OS to 10.7.3 and Adobe Photoshop CS5.5 - no recent hardware changes. No bluetooth devices connected.
    Any thoughts? Thanks -

    Thanks -
I've reinstalled the OS today and am back up and running.
But, since this is twice this has happened within the past week, I'm worried about might be causing this issue - besides bad luck. My Mac is usually rock solid - can't remember the last time I've had to reinstall the OS in the past few generations of OS X.

    You're right, mod__ose.conf appears twice in oracle_apache.conf.

    S1:I uninstalled BPA.
S2: I installed BPA again using the default options by selecting all the default options that the BPA showed during installation. EG. I selected 'Oracle Lite' which was by default an option.
S3: After BPA installation, I also installed BPA Publisher which i had not done last time.
S4: Restated my system and it all works gr8 now.
Actually, the BPA Publisher creats a Repository area so it should have been installed along with the BPA installation. And Since a Repository area was not found it was giving this error message again and again.
Now its all fine . Hopefully, some one else will learn from my mistakes.

  • SERVER.XML re-write problem when changing HTTP to HTTPS

    Hello,
I am using SUN ONE App server and had a problem with turning SSL on in order to use HTTPS.
What I did was that in GUI I selected a http listener under my instance and checked SSL/TLS Settings. I clicked Apply Changes button and I got a message saying that there wa a problem with XML-DOM. I checked my server.xml and found that its size was 0. It seems that it stopped re-writing it when it met the problem.
An interesting thing is that when I created an additional http listener with SSL at a different port, there was no problem.
It seems that the problem occurs only when I tried to change HTTP to HTTPS.
Is there anyone who can tell me why this happens?
I will appreciate any answers or comments.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Is your Implementation Class is still the same (as the old one), when you changed the pre-fix.
Just double click on the Implementation class and check whether the methods are still implemented or not.
    Thanks, Advay

Sorry, possibly you need a new hard drive or try reformating. First
you can try something like http://www.alsoft.com/diskwarrior/  it has been known to repair disk that DiskUtility could not. YMMV and they don't give it away.
If Disk Warrior can not repair then you need to Reformate the drive. Make sure you have a back-up in place no matter what.

Disk Utility will tell you something about it's SMART status:

  • Dual Monitor Startup Problem on MacPro - Solved

I have a model 53135LL/A = mid 2010 MacPro with 8 cores, DUAL monitor cards and monitors, 24GB memory, running Lion 10.7.3.  It is important to note that I am also using the Apple bluetooth Magic Mouse and the smaller, bluetooth keyboard (no numeric keypad).  This unit was supplied with Lion in December 2011 and has had a startup problem from the beginning as follows:
1 - when starting from a cold start the dual monitor positions are reversed from the correct position
2 - additionally the USB and firewire connected devices (e.g. Wacom tablet, 2 card readers) do not function properly.
The workaround for me has been to start the system, wait for the logon screen, then click restart. Upon restart everything comes up and functions correctly.
Specifics on my setup and starting problems:
1 - My main monitor (Monitor #2) is a large gamut monitor that is located to the right. This monitor is connected to card slot 1 as that is the faster card slot (pcx16). The second monitor (Monitor #1) is an ordinary unit and connected to card slot 2 (pcx4). The monitors are set up as an extended desktop.
    2. The Wacom tablet (Intuous 3 wide) is connected to USB port on rear of machine. CF card reader by Delkin is connected to Firewire on rear of machine, and an SD card reader is connected to USB on the rear of the machine.
    3. My dock is positioned on the left side of the left monitor. The menu bar is along the top of the left monitor, and all desktop icons are on the left monitor.  The right monitor has no items on it.
On a typical cold start, as mentioned above, the apple logo appears on the right and then the logon screen appears on the right.
If I proceed to logon at that point, all the desktop items move to the right monitor and the computer thinks the positions are reversed.  In other words, it behaves as though the right monitor (#2) is on the left of the desktop and left monitor (#1) is on the right.
Additionally, the Wacom tablet using either pen or mouse does not map over the full desktop range.  If I use either card reader and then eject the card, no further card insertions will be recognized.
To fix this, I simply restart the machine thru the apple menu and everything comes up correctly.
I had discovered, that instead of completing the logon on a bad cold start, I could simply restart from the logon screen and all would work correctly.
On occasion, the logon screen would come up on the left monitor (as it should do) and in that case, if I log on all works correctly.
I have worked with Apple support on the phone, clearing setup ram etc. Have had the unit in to Apple store for hardware check, all OK.  Next suggestion was reload OS and start over - no thanks.
SO - Here is the latest.
If I turn off my keyboard and mouse before starting the machine, then wait for the logon screen to appear - It starts correctly, with the logon screen on the left.  I can then turn on my keyboard and mouse and all works as it should.
Bottom line - there appears to be a startup issue with Bluetooth devices from a cold start.  Note that once the machine has been used for a bit, I can turn it off for short periods of time (e.g. 30 minutes) and it will start correctly even with the mouse and keyboard turned on.

That's how dwm behaves. I believe dwm's multihead support is rather lackluster out of the box. You might want to check out some of the patches they have, and ask around in the dwm hackers thread.
I currently have dwm simply draw status on all monitors, but I'm investigating separate status bars per monitor. We'll see where that takes me. Dwm is a tinker's WM!
i found the patch , thanks!

  • Mac mini server hang at startup

My mac mini server (1st gen) installed with Lion server has a strange problem.
At some point, it stop to deliver it services (imap, dhcp and ical server). I connect on it (wich take a long long time), make it restart by the system menu entry.
It restart, and stay forever with the blank screen with Apple logo and the waiting circle which loop.
    No way to restart.
I then boot on a Mountain Lion installation USB key (I loose my Lion one :-(  ), choose the restore from time machine option, selecting the last entry on my Time capsule, everything goes well, and the server restart with no problem. I can even restart it by the system menu.
But after 2 or 3 month, it has the same problem, and again no way to restart without restoring the last time machine backup.
It's now the third time it does this, and it's make me go crazy.
I've try to start in verbose mode, and I have the following fsck error message :
    disk0s2 : I/O error.
    Invalid node structure
    (4,26622)
the volume on macintosh hd could not ve verified completely
    fsck failed !
I've try to start on single mode and do the fsck -fy -> same result.
Does someone has an idea of why it does this ?
    Regards,
    Marc

Just recently I ran into a problem when I tried to Verify my hard disk and when it tried to verify the catalog, it responded "Invalid sibling link." Repair Disk didn't work. I searched the web and Apple's site, and couldn't find anything useful except to buy DiskWarrior or reformat the drive. Knowing that OS X is built on Unix gave me a few clues on how to proceed. The solution is pretty simple:
        1.    Boot off the OS X CD (reboot, hold C while booting).
        2.    The installer will load up, go to Utilities in the menu and run Terminal.
        3.    Type df and look for the drive that has your Mac system mounted---you'll have to unmount this. On my MacBook Pro, it was /dev/disk0s2.
        4.    Type umount /dev/disk0s2, replacing disk0s2 with whatever disk your OS lives on.
        5.    Type fsck_hfs -r /dev/disk0s2. If you umounted the wrong thing, it will complain that you can't repair a mounted drive. Go back and umount the right thing and repeat this step.
Just for fun, you might want to run another fsck_hfs on your disk (use the -f option because your drive is probably journaled). Hope this helps someone so they don't buy a program that's going to do pretty much what we did with fsck_hfs, and so they don't waste time searching for an answer to no avail. By the way, TechTool Deluxe (3.1.1) didn't find the Catalog problem for some reason (you'll have this on a CD if you have AppleCare), which is why I resorted to fsck.
