Server process

Question

Hi,
I have run one script to check the status of db after shutdown script fires.

db_status=$(ps -ef | grep -v grep | grep -w ora_smon_PROD)
db_processes=`ps -ef|grep -v grep |grep PROD |wc -l`
if [ "${db_status}" = "" ]; then
echo " Currently Running Database Processes are => $db_processes       " >/backup/scripts/db_down.log
cat db_down.log |mailx -s " DB has been shutdown completely.........."  [email protected]
else
echo " Currently Running Database Processes are => $db_processes     " >/backup/scripts/db_not_down.log
cat db_not_down.log|mailx -s " Warning!!!!!!!!! IMAL DB is not Shutdown ......"  [email protected]
fiThe above script has been included at last line of db shutdown script ( shtudown immediate) . Shutdown script has been scheduled and it is running fine. DB is getting down perfectly and every thing is fine..
But in my mail, i am getting that after db shutdown, DB has been down completely...but no of processes are there of 3.
I captured those processes that are serverprocesses like below
oraclePROD
oraclePROD
oraclePROD
why those serverprocesses still exists after db shutdown...or will it take time to go off those processes. I know those processes will be created for client session in dedicate server process mode.

Hi, I did slight modification to above script, which is in bold color. I am checking, after shutting down the database, if there any back ground processes with
ps -ef|grep ora_|grep PROD
if the above command returns zero then we can say that db is shutdown?
please correct me, if i am wrong......
