Server refused to allocate pty

Hello,
I have a cluster system with Solaris 10 in which one of the servers I can only SSH as root otherwise I get "Server refused to allocate pty" and the session hangs without showing the prompt. The other server works perfect
I have already checked that the maximum number of ptys (33) haven't been reached and there are no any other ssh connections hanging.
I have compared the vfstab between both servers and are the same, also did it with /dev/ptmx permissions and /etc/system which I found online to be cause of similar problems and are also the same on both servers.
I have runned out of ideas and I ask your support now
Thanks in advance

I am seeing this on a sparc solaris 10. root can ssh in and the console is fine but regular users cannot
ssh in . Do you have any suggestions for sparc solaris 10? I don't believe the mount suggestion makes
sense in my environment.
My root drive crashed so I resinstalled solaris but now ssh does not work. telnet works fine but I don't like
telnet.
I get
Server refused to allocate pty and
Server send disconnect message
type2 (SSH_DISCONNECT_PROTOCOL_ERROR)
"Could not create socket pairs: permission denied"
Thanks
Thomas

  • Getting "Server refused to allocate pty" when connecting from ssh

    Hi All,
I am getting "Server refused to allocate pty" when connecting from ssh to our Solaris 10 8/07 server. I searched in goggle but couldn't find a solution. But from telnet, all users are able to login without any problems. My ssh is default one that comes with sol 10.
Please help if anybody has a solution for this
    Thanks in advance.

  • Bug in authorization handling: server refused the given info 10 times

I am getting the following error when trying to connect to a server through httpclient via NTLM authentication.

Any help to solve the issue will really appreciated.

Thank you for your replies. Allow me to clarify.
    1) I can override initSession, but how do I trap a failed login without implementing my own custom basic authentication? And isn't this something which is (should?) be handled by the supplied oracle classes? I've attached my provider.xml below, the only code outside this I am using is my custom filter.
    2) I am being prompted for a password not by the SSO server, but by netstorage (Basic Authentication prompt). I presume basic authentication uses cookies? There cookies aren't getting passed through correctly?

  • Web server refuses connections - Service exited with abnormal code: 1

I have upgraded to yosemite 10.10.1, my web server refuses to allow connections and I get - Service exited with abnormal code: 1, in the log file. I have reloaded server software and I have rebooted and power restarted my Mac Mini many times

Fixed this stupid iTunes issue with the following procedure. YMMV
    - Open the Activity Monitor (LaunchPad, Other, Activity Monitor)
    - Force Quit the iTunes Helper app (I had multiply ones running, so quit them all)
    - Install the iTunes .pkg from the Apple website.
    - Force Quit the iTunes Helper again after install
    - Shut Down the MacBook
    - Start again (watch for the progress bar, that’s the fix for permissions working)
    - Start iTunes
You mileage may vary, but it worked for me.

  • Firefox 3.6 won't load properly because of the error "Proxy server refusing connections".

I tried to download Firefox 3.6 but it wouldn't finish loading because of the message " Proxy server refusing connections". How do I over ride this problem? The last couple of days my firefox 3.5.2 has been crashing or locking up almost every time I opened it. It got so frustrating that I tried downloading 3.6 to see if it would work any better. No luck so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I run Windows 2000 XP.

Go to Tools --> Options --> Advanced --> Network --> Settings and choose "Do not use Proxy" to see if that helps.

In Firefox 3.6.4 and later the default connection settings have been changed to "Use the system proxy settings".

You can find the connection settings in "Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection"
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select No Proxy

  • Proxy server refused connections

Everytime I try to open Firefox and go online, I get the msg "proxy server refused connection". I tried going to options and choosing auto detect proxy and no proxy. They both allow me to go online but when I close Firefox, the settings I did aren't saved and I need to go to options again and change the settings. It's a hassle to go through this all the time. Help pls.

You can try to create a [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles?s=profile&r=0&e=sph&as=s new profile] and see if the problem goes away. i.e. in Windows Start menu > '''Run''' (or press Windows key + '''R'''), type and enter '''firefox -p -no-remote''' > '''Create Profile''', after finishing select the newly created profile, '''Start Firefox''', edit and save the proxy settings and restart in the newly created profile. If the profile is okay, you can later [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Recovering%20important%20data%20from%20an%20old%20profile?s=profile&r=1&e=sph&as=s copy] needed data like bookmarks, passwords etc. from the previous profile to the new profile and delete the previous profile.
If the problem persists, it could be a security software that is trying to transparently proxy Firefox and may also be reverting the Firefox proxy changes. You may have to go into the security software settings and exempt Firefox/[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder or Files].

  • IChat 4 - Can't add new buddy - The Server Refused

    Hi,
I just managed to convince my fiancee to get a Mac on the basis that they just work (as they have in my experience in the past). But things keep going wrong since we got them! Here's the latest:
We both want to add a buddy to iChat. I try and it works fine. She tries and it tells her: The server refused the operation. I've tried deleting that contact from the address book, quitting address book and ichat and quitting the ichat agent process and then deleting all the iChat .plist files in Preferences. It still didn't work. The buddy appears for a few seconds and then vanishes again. So frustrating! And so weird that it happens to her and not me.
    Any suggestions?
    Thx

Well I tried everything in that thread before posting.
You may be interested to know how I finally resolved this issue: Up until now I have been trying to add the new buddy to the only group, 'Recent Buddies', which was pre-made for me. Just out of desperation I tried creating a new group (I simply called it 'Buddies'). I tried adding the new buddy to that group and it worked just like that.
I can't believe that it was something quite so simple and I can see absolutely no reason for it not working with the pre-made group, but there you have it. At least it's sorted now!

  • Firefox is giving me a proxy server refusing connection message and my change to no proxy won't stick

I am not finding a solution online that I can understand. Please tell me how what the proxy settings are for Mozilla Firefox's server connection? Firefox is my default web browser and I keep getting messages that say, "Proxy server refusing connection to the internet. Check proxy settings or contact server administrator." I go to the Advanced tab, click on change connection to internet settings, and delete manual proxy information and click on "no proxy." When the window closes and I log back onto the laptop, Mozilla Firefox loads up and I get the same error message again. I don't know how to change the proxy server to no proxy so that it will stay that way and not reset itself to the manual proxy information every time the Mozilla Firefox window reopens. Help!

  • 5.1 directory server try to allocate 1.7G virtual memory

I am running iPlanet 5.1 at Solaris 8. The server crashed on the following error,
    12/Sep/2003:17:42:03 +0000] - malloc of 1719227497 bytes failed; errno 11
The server has probably allocated all available virtual memory. To solve this p
roblem, make more virtual memory available to your server, or reduce the size of
the server's `Maximum Entries in Cache' (cachesize) or `Maximum DB Cache Size'
    (dbcachesize) parameters.
    can't recover; calling exit(1)
The server is configured just 64M cache. Why here directory server try to allocate 1.7G virtual memory?
Is this known bug for 5.1? Is there any way to fix it?

I had the same problem. DS 5.1 sp2
in my case it is trying to allocate 4.2G virtual memory

  • OpenSSH - Server Refused Our Key - Solved

I'm playing with OpenSSH for access from a Windows2000 machine.  (I have samba running for file access already)
I can login via SSH so long as I do it with a username and password.  Trying to do this via private and public keys gives me nothing but "Server Refused Our Key" errors.
I generated a key set using puttygen on the Windows machine.  I logged into the server, created an .ssh directory in my home directory, added an authorized_keys file, pasted the public key into that file, saved it, set its permissions to 600,  changed the .ssh directory permissions to 700.
I have tried this with and without passphrase, just to make sure that's not causing an issue.  There is no difference.  I also tried a reverse strategy, creating the keyset on the arch machine with keygen and copying the private key to the windows machine; no change.
I have changed the sshd_config to set Protocol to 2; I also set up a different port.
I must be missing something obvious, but I have no idea what it is.  Anyone have any ideas?

I thought the authorized_keys2 was the old version, but I created it anyway, no change.
I tried the other code, it complained that the Cipher line was wrong, so I took it out.
I then tried to start it with the resulting config file.  It says:
Could not load host key: /etc/ssh/ssh_host_key
Could not load host key: /etc/ssh/ssh_host_rsa_key
Could not load host key: /etc/ssh/ssh_host_dsa_key
Disabling protocol version 1. Could not load host key
Disabling protocol version 2. Could not load host key
sshd: no hostkeys available -- exiting.
So then I tried this using the standard config file sshd_config and got the same thing.  There are keys in all of these files, but they are owned by root and have rw to root only, which would seem to be as it should be.  sshd is already running, so how that all fits into things is beyond me at this time in the morning....

  • TS3899 Server refuses to send my e mails.

When I send an email I get a notice stating "server refuses email" It just started and I cannot see any settings being different from my other devices.

I expect you have one of the entries in your setup incorrect?
Can I suggest you get the current setup instructions from your email provider, and verify your settings are correct?

        Hi Jwhitt
Rats! Emails should work on our network!  Let's get this fixed. It may be the way the email is set up on your device. Here's an awesome link on apple's site to help you: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1288908?start=0&tstart=0 If that doesn't fix the problem I would recommend reaching out to road runners site. They normally have email set up walkthrus.
