Server tools

  • Installed 10.6.8 Server Combo Update, but can't update Server Tools to 10.6.8?

    Hello all,
I installed the 10.6.8 combo update for my xserve earlier today. I also need to update the server tools to 10.6.8 since I am trying to create a new NetInstall image from a .dmg that is running 10.6.8.
The server tools update has always shown up in the past in Software Update, but I didn't see it this time around so I went and found what looks like the download link for it: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1403.
Anyway, I get it downloaded and go to install it, and it says my Server HD does not have Mac OS X installed, and it will not install the update.
I have the 10.6.8 Server Tools installed on my imagebuilder, but it isn't setup with the right workflow and it would be a hassle to get that going.
Has anyone else had any problems getting the 10.6.8 server tools installed on their xserve?

@m.mills: I'd be interested to see what your workflow looks like for your image using the 10.6.7 SIU on 10.6.8 Server? I have been struggling trying to get NetInstall or NetRestore to work using this tool. For NetRestore, it tries to install on the MBP, but fails after a minute or two with this error:
Unable to set '10.6' as boot disk: The bless tool was unable to set the current boot disk."
I am using the 10.6 retail DVD as source. I have a very basic workflow:
    * source DVD 10.6
    * Enable Automated Intall; install to volume name: 10.6, erase before installing
    * Apply System Configuration Settings - (apply computer name and local hosts setting)
    * Add 10.6.8 combo pkg
    * Create image
I also have a machine running 10.7 Server and have successfully created a 10.7.2 image, but 10.6.8 has been giving me fits. It would be nice if I could create a 10.6.8 image on the 10.7 server. Is it possible to do this?
    Any Help is appreciated.
    thx

  • File Server Resource Manager will not load WMI Objects on Windows 8.0/8.1 Preview with Hyper-V and Server Tools Loaded

    Hi Folks,
I have a problem getting "File Server Resource Manager" to start properly because WMI objects are not loading??? I don't understand this at all because I am able to access them with other Apps, etc. I have been over my Services list as well but
have not yet discovered which Service turns on/off "File Server Resource Manager". I have looked in Windows\System32\ and I can not find SrmSvc. I found other Srm's there though. I also found the FSRM Snapin which generates the Figure below but I
can not find it in the WMI Browser. I believe the Firewall is OKAY since I have been over that thoroughly. I do have the Server Tools Installed for Windows 8.0 or Windows 8.1 Clients as well as the Windows Updates applied, which is where I got "File Server
Resource Manager" in the first place. I have had WMI and Powershell 3.0 Package, installed since Windows 7 but I run a repair on them anyway.
I have read through "File Server Resource Manager could not load WMI objects on Windows Server 2012
Article ID: 2831687" but since I don't seem to have SrmSvc the solution doesn't help me. I haven't been able to find a similar one for the Windows Client.
If there is anything you could share on this problem I would be much obliged.
    Thanks again,

As the question is off topic here, I am moving it to the

  • Server tools not working on Snow Leopard

I just upgraded my home Intel Mac Pro from 10.4 to 10.6, and downloaded the 10.6.4 Server tools from the website (WorkGroup manager, Server Admin, Server monitor, etc.). Our Xserve is 10.6.4 also, so there shouldn't be any incompatibility (like there was when I wanted to manage the 10.6 server from my 10.4 machine). But when I double-click on any of these apps, nothing happens - something flashes through the dock once and then nothing (like when you try to run a 10.6 app in 10.4). No error, but no running apps either. What am I missing - why don't these run here? Is there a better URL to download them?
    thanks,
    Mike

Hey, I fixed it! I remembered (by trying in Firefox, where it works, by the way) that the Youtube Bulk video uploader uses Google Gears. I noticed that Safari had Gears 0.5.30.0 while the latest version I just installed for Firefox was Gears 0.5.32.0. I googled and found an old bug report somewhere saying that in a Snow Leopard beta, Gears worked in Firefox but not Safari, so I knew I was on the right track.
I tried to upgrade Gears in Safari by going to http://gears.google.com, but it did not display anything about which version I had or how to upgrade (as it does in Firefox) although if I looked at the page source I could see the text 'Your Gears installation is too old and needs to be upgraded'. So in the end I just deinstalled Gears (follow the instructions under 'If you need to remove a plug-in' in Safari help) and now I have the button back to upload a video, instead of just 'Loading...' I haven't tried it yet but it looks promising.

  • What is the difference between Component,Server,Tool and Software?

    HI,
What is the difference between Component,Server,Tool and Software?
    SHABEER

    Hi
Every individual part that constitutes in making an SAP System is called a COMPONENT.e.g DB instance, Java CI, ABAP CI etc
SERVER is the actual composition of different components of SAP.e.g. a database alongwith can instance would constitue an application server.
TOOLS are the products from different organisations (SAP or Non SAP) that can be used for different functionalities like keeping a check on jobs, monitoring of the system , e.g Tivoli
SOFTWARES are a kind of tool that help you to bring up results from the system in a user acceptable format. These are utilities that act as interfaces between the user and the system.

  • Information about server tools Xi 3.1 SP3

Searching for a detailed overview about the server tools/products which can be installed with BO Xi ENT 3.1 SP3. My last experencie with BO was at version 6.5. Now looking at Xi it is totally different Want to do a custom intall but the list with server products is really large and out of my scope. When clicking on a product it gives a brief description but I'm searching for a good document where these are explained.
My primary's are crystal reports server to run queries from a third party application.Client tool to run reports on a universe basis from Xi sort of Webi/Deski. And a scheduler to schedule these jobs. With AND without possibility to make publications like in publisher.
    Any tips?

Crystal report Server is a Server tailored to run Crystal reports, it does not provide ability to create Crystal reports, only run them.
BOE Xi3.1 can run Crystal reports as well ad Deski and Webi, and include all the tools to create Deski and webi reports, however, to create Crystal reports you need a Crystal Reports (designer) product. Which is separate from both BOE Xi3.1 and CRS 2008
Admin guide has explanation of all the server components you see in custom install selections.
    Crystal reports Cache server
    Crystal reports Processing server
    Crystal reports Job server
Are all part of Crystal report procesing, Cache and Processing servers used to run reports on demand, Job server is used to process report schedules.

  • SSDT, SSDT-BI, and SQL Server Tooling in VS 2013

I am upgrading from SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2014, and I'm a little confused as to the upgrade path for SQL Server Business Intelligence Studio (BIDS). I'd thought that SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) was replacing BIDS in subsequent versions of SQL
Server i.e., 2012 and 2014. However, when I go to install SQL Server 2014, I don't see an option for SSDT. Do I need to download and install SSDT seperately in the form of SSDT 2012, SQL Server Tooling in VS 2013, SSDT-BI for 2013?

What's the difference between SSDT and SSDT-BI?

    Adam

    Hi Adam,
    >> Do I need to download and install SSDT separately in the form of SSDT 2012, SQL Server Tooling in VS 2013, SSDT-BI for 2013?
In addition to Piotr’s post, you can install SSDT for 2014 via the following method:
In Visual Studio 2013, go to the Tools menu, select “Extensions and Updates”. On the left of the window there is a section named “Updates”, and under that is “Product Updates”, then look for the Microsoft SQL Server Update for database tooling and click update.
    >> What's the difference between SSDT and SSDT-BI?
SSDT-BI is a distinct toolset from SSDT or the SQL Server database tooling in Visual Studio, it includes BI project authoring tools and project templates for SSIS/SSAS/SSRS. However, SSDT does not include the BI templates, it is used for building databases.

  • Uninstall SAP HANA server tool

    Hi Experts,
I want steps on how to uninstall SAP hana server tools.
I didn't find any way to do that so I deleted the folder but with that when I try to install server components I get error failed ,roll back.
Urgent help on how to uninstall SAP HANA server tools to unable me install new package.Linux.
    Regards
    Justice

    Hi Justice,
    Try:
    rpm -q -a | grep B1 | xargs rpm -e
    And then try reinstallation.
If it works, next time when you uninstall B1 on Linux, please use the uninstall.bin located in the installation path, typically opt/sap/SAPBusinessOne. You can find the instructions in the Administrator's Guide (HANA version), which is in the product package \Documentation\SystemSetup\ and also in the Packages.Linux folder.

  • DI Server in Server Tools stopped and now cannot start

    Hi,
I have an issue on firstly stopping the DI server from Server Tools and then I want to start the service again. Basically, I wanted to restart the DI Server service. But when I stopped the service, it isn't stopping completely. I also checked by going to services.msc. There the status is shown as Stopping.
How can I stop this service safely and then start again?
Any ideas will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sanil

Well, it happened to me but it wasn't the DI Server, in fact, it wasn't any sort of SAP service. The problem: "admin rights".
Maybe you should open the Server Tools running as administrator, start/stop DI Server.
    Test in the command line:
    NET STOP SBODI_Server
    or
    NET STOP /y SBODI_Server
Now, sometimes a windows service can hang on, it never reaches the stopped phase. The only way to stop the service is killing the process, in this case "B1DI_Server.exe". This won't end another process.
End process or end process tree would be the solutions (Try the first one).
In the command line you could do this:
sc queryex SBODI_Server      -> Now, you get the PID. For instance: 409
    taskkill /PID 409 /F                    -> It's forced to kill the process
This should avoid the need of a reboot, but take care.

  • Error upgrading Server Tools.

    When I run the 2007 SP01 PL05 Server Tools upgrade, I get a message:
Severe: Installation failed to write settings to the XML configuration file
I uninstalled Server Tools and tried again, and get the same error message.
    Please advise.

Did you get a resolution to this? Are you running this on a Server or a standalone PC installation of SAP?
I have just got the same error running the 8.8 PL5 Server Tools Upgrade against an existing 2005 SP1 PL39 installation on a laptop installation of B1.
I had got an error in the Upgrade Wizard re the Operating System and Memory pre-requisites for the 8.8 installation. I corrected the OS version but haven't upgraded the memory. I thought I would try running the Server Tools Upgrade directly from the Packages Folder instead, then got the same message as you.
