Services for object for a custom document

Hi everyone,
We have a custom transaction to create a custom document called enquiry. Upon saving, the document number will be generated and stored in a table. I would like to add the functionality of Services for Object in the transaction to be able to attach documents to the enquiry. I would like to ask if it is possible to create a business object for this custom document to be able to utilize the Services for Object functionality.

you can choose to create BO for this or simply have a another identifier for this object and youc an use class OT to upload documents to BDS.
all you need is call of this FM whicih will automatically put the icon for GOS
SWU_OBJECT_PUBLISH
alternatively you can use class cl_gos_manager

Hi,
Could you tell me if there is a possibility to create attchment for a postion of SD document not a header? I would like to see that ex. position number 20 has an attachment. It would be great aslo to see an icon for position or any other flag.

Thank you Pete but we are release 700 and this note applies to release 620 and older. I will try to find another note or another way.
In the meantime we use the short-ID of SAP Portal Documents which are long to retrieve but always under 132 char.

'Service of Objects' for attachments

Hi All,
I am working on custom screens with module -pools in which i have a requirement to have attachments much similar to VA01. I searched about 'Services Of Objects' in SDN and did find some helpful posts but i am not able to understand where to stsrt from to have the icon for 'Services Of Objects' to show on my custom screens.
CREATE object go_myobject
         EXPORTING is_object = ls_object
                    ip_no_commit = 'X'
         EXCEPTIONS others = 1.
I coded this above in the PBO. I think i need to PUBLISH for me to see the ICON. But not sure how to do and where to so? Can anyone please direct me to any posts or any doc regarding this 'Services Of Objects'?

Dear Experts,
Is it possible to view the data kept in "services for object" (The Button at topleft side of title bar of Master data header screen of objects like Functional Location/Equipment/Notification/Order) for several objects in one list like ALV?

Adding URL to Services for Object for Invoice

Hi Friends,
I need to add a URL to 'Services for Object' drop down on the menu bar (so that it will appear in 'Attachment List' after clicking on which it will navigate to the link).
I am not sure but will SWU_OBJECT_PUBLISH be useful? How to use this for URL insert?
Can anyone please tell me how it can be achieved?

Class type 022 is not defined for object for BATMAS

Hi Experts,
while creaitng the LSMW for batch classification,I faced the error during IDOC processing as "Class type 022 is not defined for object".I am using
Business Object      BUS1001002
Method               SAVEREPLICA
Message Type         BATMAS
Basic Type           BATMAS03
Pleas guide how to resolve the error.
Also ,as I intend to make LSMW for batch classifications.Is this the correct way.
Please guide on this also.

Symptom
The BATMAS03 basis type (message type BATMAS) /FB BAPI_BATCH_REPLICATE cannot transfer any classification information. Please review note 1070634.
First Option :
You should first transfer the batmas and then the clfmas idoc.
Second Option :
You could create the batch together with classification. Normally the problem is the missing CUOBJ_BM in table MCH1. It is not necessary in all situations that the field have to be filled, but it can be in some cases (And it is better to store the right information in the corresponding fields). Especially when you transfer batch/classification information in other system the field have to be filled.
The way to create the batch TOGETHER with classification by using BATMAS IDOC is to set the following parameters correctly :-
set E1BPBATCHCTRL-DOCLASSIFY to X and fill the segments with relevant classification information
E1BP3060_ALLOCATION
E1BP3060_VALUATION_CHAR
E1BP3060_VALUATION_CURR
E1BP3060_VALUATION_NUM
In this case the field mch1-cuobj_bm should be filled with correct CUOBJ. You can also use function module BAPI_BATCH_SAVE_REPLICA to create batches together with classification.

Go to TCode OMCE and check the batch level.
If batch is activated at material/client level then use class type 023, if it is at plant level the class type 022.

Default font size for Text screen in customer document

We use the text function to enter additional customer data for customer invoice correspondence. The data is pasted from a Word document onto an existing invoice document using menu Extras - Texts - select Correspondence then paste.
Once pasted the tab funstion is used to line up the data.
The default font within the 'Text' screen is different from the default font used in the correspondence. This causes a misalighnment of the text when printing the invoice.
How do I change the default font size in the 'Text' screen. This is probably more of a techie than functional uestion. The SAP screen is SAPLSTXX (via either FB03 or FBl5N)

Hi All,
Can anyone post an ABAP code using which we can automate the process of creating a note for a Work order at the time of saving the work order. I need to create a note with the work order at the time of saving it. This note needs to be attached automatically. Can anyone help me with the code to do this?

Uhm... If you want us to do your job, how much are you willing to pay?
How is the note "attached"? If it's an attachment using GOS then the code has already been posted on SDN - look it up. You'll need to add it to the work order creation (I'm guessing there should be some kind of BAPI or FM).

Content server for Document attachment through "services for object" Icon.

I have typical problem in installation of Content server for storing external documents.
We all know that we can attach the document in SAP using the icon SERVICES FOR OBJECT. By this we can attach the document to the specific object we want.
-Since my client wants only document attachment method not to completely implement SAP DMS, I proposed this method of attaching documents through services for object method.
-If documents are stored though services for object ,The attached document will directly get stored in sap database(correct me if I am wrong) while in DMS it ask you to select the storage location while u check in for any document
-By storing the doc thru "services for object " For long run when we store the documents in sap database our system will drastically get slow down.
-In this regard I have a plan to incorporate external storage server.
-Now I should know that how I should customize content server configuration so that the attachment through services for object will store into this content server I need to know how to define Client, Content Category, Content Repository, Document Area, Physical Machine, IP Address, Port. (OACT & OAC0)

Don't Worry, its possible,
All attachments can be stored in SAP Content Server also, but through archiving process.
Set up a database storage system.
Preparation
Make sure that the HTTP plugin is active.
Transaction SMICM, "Display Services" function key (shift F1)). The list of services must contain a port other than 0 for HTTP.If not, you must adjust the relevant profile parameter.
Typical entry:
icm/server_port_0 PROT=HTTP, PORT=1080, TIMEOUT=900
Make sure that the /sap/bc/contentserver service is active.
If no user is defined, then use transaction SU01 to create a new user. Use the "System" user type.Assign
the SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW profiles to the user. (Eg: HRUSER/PLMUSER/PPUSER etc)
Transaction SICF, select: default_host - sap - bc -contentserver. Select the function to display/change the service. Make sure that a user is defined.
Using the relevant data from the newly created user, maintain the anonymous logon data for the
/default_host/sap/bc/ service and save & activate the changes in transaction SICF. Double click on content server and give the user name which has been created (HRUSER/PLMUSER/PPUSER/MMUSER etc)
Check the system PSE.
Start transaction STRUST. Expand the system PSE. The system PSE must be "green" for each application
server.
Determine a suitable exchange directory.
The exchange directory must be accessible from each application server. If all application servers are running on the same platform (for example, Windows), one network directory that is accessible on all application server (for example,
server\share) is sufficient. You can generally use the global directory
(profile parameter DIR_GLOBAL).You can use the RSPARAM report to determine the profile parameters.
Setting up the storage
Create a table for storing the data. Using transaction SE11, create a copy of the SDOKCONT1
table. If you want to create the repository database, you can name the table ZCONT_DB, for example. Save the
table as a local object. Activate the table.
Create a repository.
Use transaction OAC0 to create a new repository.
Use the following parameters:
Repository Max. two characters, for example, Z1
DocArea: ARCHLINK
Storage type: R/3 database
Storage subtype: normal
Version no. : 0046
Contents table <table name> for example: ZCONT_DB
Exchange directory <directory name> for example:
server\share\
Make sure that the exchange list ends with a \ (or /on Unix).If you are using a variety of platforms, you must use transaction FILE to define a suitable logical file name and use this name. Save the settings.
1. Maintain view table TOAAR_C, via SM31
 Cross client table displayed as information, forget it
2. In field 'StSytm' you must entered 'Z1' as your system need, or anything that you need but you must configure HR Archive link too.
3. In field 'Arch.path' (direct above Spoolpath), entered path in your system, this real path in your operating system. May be you should confirm to your Basis consultant where exactly you could store picture files. So if you enter '/', your file exists at root directory at your UNIX system.
4. Choose 'File store' radio button
5. Save.

1. You have to create a number range for SAP ArchiveLink.
 IMG: Basis Components-> Basis Services -> SAP ArchiveLink -> Basic Settings-> Maintain number ranges
 (Trxn OANR). Create number range 01 from 0000000001 to 9999999999 without the external number flag.
2. Document type HRICOLFOTO must exist with document class JPG.
 IMG: Basis Components->Basis Services->SAP ArchiveLink->System Settings->Maintain document types
 (Table TOAVE, Trxn OAC2).
3. Document type HRICOLFOTO must be linked to object type PREL and Infotype PA0002.
 IMG: Personnel Management->Personnel Administration->Tools->Optical archiving->Set up Optical Archiving
 in HR. (View V_T585O, no Trxn). In the first two columns there are minuses, the third (Date) has
 a plus - don't put a flag in the check box.
4. Check which content repository (Archive) is linked to document type HRICOLFOTO and object type
 PREL. IMG: Basis Components->Basis Services->SAP ArchiveLink->Basic Settings->Maintain Links (Table
 TOAOM_C, Trxn).
Test
Test the repository.
Use transaction SE38 to start the RSCMSTH0 report. Specify your repository (i.e. Z1) and start the test.
The report must run without errors. If no problems occurred, you can use the new repository with Archive Link after you carry out the Archive Link Customizing. If problems do occur, check whether one of the related
notes helps.

NOTE:- Screen Shots are missing, i was not able to paste here, One more thing is we did this for uploading a PHOTOS into Content Server, Similarly you have to create a REPOSITORY and Z-TABLE to bring all the Attachments from all the selected Objects and then route them to the CONTENT REPOSITORY.

Services for object buttons randomly disappearing from FB03

Hello SAP Experts,
We display an FI document via tcode FB03 (Display Document) and use the "services for object" buttons to attach documents via the "create attachment" button and also to view attached documents via the "attachment list" button.
However, quite often when displaying the FI document after a document has been attached, the "services for objects" buttons are not displayed. Just a blank toolbar appears.
Later on the when the FI document is displayed again via tcode FB03 (Display Document), the "services for objects" buttons do appear and the attachments can then be displayed.
As the attachments can be viewed sometimes, I would say that this issue is not related to security.
Any idea's what maybe causing the "services for objects" buttons randomly disappearing???

If you are not getting Services for Object Icon in Sales Document, then follow this:
T-code - SU01 u2013 Here Enter User ID & click in change icon.
Then click on Parameters Tab & Add Parameter u2013 SD_SWU_ACTIVE. .
This will definitely solve your problem...

But I want to collective list attachment by equipment, not by individual equip to display.
How to do that? or which table can i find the info?

I don't think there are any [Generic Object Services|http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/be/3fe63659241157e10000009b38f889/frameset.htm] (GOS) transactions to mass update objects...
I suspect you would need to develop a custom BDC program for this purpose.

Difference in storage method for DMS and Services for Object

Hi-
Our R/3 version is: 4.7 Enterprise.
In most (if not all) of the transactions users execute, there is a feature where they can attach a file using "Services for Object" from their PC to the associated record (i.e. material master, purchase orders, service notifications, etc.)
What I would like to know is where the document is stored. From what I found on help.sap.com it says that it is a link from the user's PC. But I would guess it is storing a copy of the file as a blob on the R/3 server somewhere. Is this true? Or is there a risk if the user's harddrive dies, that the file is no longer available for viewing?
I am trying to determine the difference between using the Services for Object feature vs. DMS and setting up an object link for the specific object type (i.e. material).

I found the following about Services for Objects:
Business Workplace
The documents that were appended to an object using Create attachment and Create note are stored in the Business Workplace. There, for example, you can make settings for where the documents should be stored (R/3 System or Web Server) and which document classes may be loaded in the SAP System (for example DOC, but not EXE).
Sending is also carried out internally using the Business Workplace. Messages are created that contain a link to the object as an attachment. By double-clicking on the attachment, the users can call the default method of the object. This is normally the display method.
