Servlet deployment in Weblogic

Hi,
Its a very simple thing but somehow its not working.Saw many sites ,but the solution is the same.But its still not working..can anyone help.
Well..I have written a simple servlet that prints Hello.I am trying to deploy it in Weblogic 6.1.But when i invoke it thru the brwser the web server simply cannot find the servlet..i mean therez no error etc..its just 'Error 404--Not Found
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
10.4.5 404 Not Found
The server has not found anything matching the Request....'
I have modified the web.xml file and added this..
<servlet>
     <servlet-name>DataFetchServlet</servlet-name>
     <servlet-class>DataFetchServlet.class</servlet-class>
     <servlet-mapping>
     <servlet-name>DataFetchServlet</servlet-name>
     <url-pattern>quickStartServlet</url-pattern>
     </servlet-mapping>
</servlet>
i am calling the servlet like this
http://localhost:7001/quikStartServlet
but in vain..am i missing somehting?
I have put the class into classes directory of the WEB-INF directory as specified by BEA Weblogic docs.
thanx in advance

What context is the servlet in? Did you put in
the "default web application" (either the one
furnished by the WLS install or one that you so
designated in the configuration)? If not, then that
part of your URL is missing. E. g.
http://localhost:7001/webappname/nameFromWebXml
That right.
But the user is also missing a '/' before the url pattern.
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>DataFetchServlet</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/quickStartServlet</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
Try that.

  • How to get the Application name/fullpath in a servlet deployed in WebLogic

    Hi ,
    Just like we can get the domain root directory from weblogic.management.DomainDir
    String root = DomainDir.getRootDir() ;and domain name from weblogic.management.configuration.DomainMBean
    DomainMBean domainMBean = MBeanUtils.getDomainMBean();
    String domainName = domainMBean.getName() ;How can i get , the application name in which the servlet is deployed from inside the same servlet ? Which API from weblogic provides that information ?
    for eg : application path = Middleware/user_projects/domains/Domain_1/servers/AdminServer/upload/webapp1.war
    and application name = webapp1.war

    Not sure about Weblogic Specific API however you can use Java API.
    public void init(ServletConfig config) throws ServletException {
              // TODO Auto-generated method stub
              System.out.println(config.getServletContext().getRealPath(""));
              System.out.println(config.getServletContext().getContextPath());
    output:
    C:\Documents and Settings\user\KEDB\KEDBRISKIT\WebContent --- Application Path
    /KEDBRISKIT --- Application Name

  • How to access contextRoot in Servlet deployed in an ear in Weblogic 81

    Hi,
    I need to access the contextRoot or webapp name from a startup servlet deployed in WebLogic. I've tried the following;
    getServletContext().getRealPath("/") return null.
    getServletContext().getServerInfo() returns Weblogic 8.1 service pack 3...
    getServletContext().getServletContextName() display the <display-name> value from my web.xml.
    What I want is the <context-root> value in the EARs application.xml.
    I tried the following JNDI lookup and the lookup failed but the error message contained the contextRoot.
    String name = (String) jndiContext.lookup("java:/comp/env/namespace");
    log.info("jndiContextlookup namespace = "+name);
    Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. This should be easy!!

    Hi VR
    From Weblogic Admin Console, Deployments, on right side click on the link named with your EAR Application. It opens detailed page with more tabs. Click on the tab named Targets. Here select your WebService module and click on Change Targets button. Uncheck the server where it is targetted (Deployed), click on Yes. And activate the changes.

  • How to Compile servlet files in weblogic

    Hi,
    I would like to know how i can compile the servlet files to deploy in weblogic.
    I searched for servlet.jar or servlet-api.jar files in my weblogic 8.1 installed folder. Could not find it to set the classpath.
    Please help.

    You need to use weblogic.jar for Weblogic 8.1. It should be present under server\lib subdirectory in Weblogic installation directory.

  • Servlet configuration in Weblogic 5.1.. web.xml vs weblogic.properties..

    Can someone please tell me how the <servlet> entry differs from
              weblogic.httpd.register.snoop=examples.servlets.SnoopServlet
              in weblogic properties?
              Do these perform identical functions?

    Yes this is the source of my confusiong. It seems to be that WL can be told
              about servlets
              two ways. Firstly through the web.xml file and also via weblogic.properties.
              I don't understand
              why the second one exists.

  • Inject EJB using @EJB in Servlet Filter on Weblogic 11g

    Hi All,
    I want to inject the EJB (Local interface) into the Servlet Filter and the EAR is deployed on Weblogic 11g.
    My question is:
    Shall the @EJB Annotation work on Weblogic 11g or it will be ignored in case of Servlet or Servlet Filter?
    OR
    I have to do look up as below and mention the references in web.xml and weblogic xml file:
    I know below code should be used when you have remote interface.
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put( Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory" );
    Context ctx = new InitialContext( env );
    ctx.lookup( "myejb" );
    Thanks

    Hi,
    It should work in 11g.

  • Deployment problem - Weblogic 8.1 SP2

    I've created a simple, one-page project to test deployment to Weblogic 8.1 SP2.
    I followed the instructions in http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/learning/tutorials/2/weblogicdeploy.html except for the database related parts (my project does not access a database).
    On startup, Weblogic fails to proload the FacesServlet for my app:
    ####<May 18, 2006 2:45:42 PM PDT> <Error> <HTTP> <hqp-vs-hypdev01> <ProtivitiServer> <main> <<WLS Kernel>> <> <BEA-101216> <Servlet: "Faces Servlet" failed to preload on startup in Web application: "HelloTest".

         at weblogic.servlet.internal.WebAppServletContext.preloadServlet(WebAppServletContext.java:3252)
    and when I try to access my Page1.jsp, Weblogic throws another (related?) exception:

    Any help with this? Do I need Weblogic 8.1 SP4?

    hi,
    0. Check WLS classpath in startWeblogic.{cmd.sh} for JSF jars
    1. Check your web.xml with section conserning FacesServlet
    it shoul look like:
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet</servlet-class>
    <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
    </servlet>
    2. Try to find any other servlet and look at its <load-on-startup> section.
    Final Java Servlet Specification Ver. 2.4 page 127:
    " The load-on-startup element indicates that this
    servlet should be loaded (instantiated and have
    its init() called) on the startup of the web
    application. The optional contents of these
    element must be an integer indicating the order in
    which the servlet should be loaded. If the value
    is a negative integer, or the element is not
    present, the container is free to load the servlet
    whenever it chooses. If the value is a positive
    integer or 0, the container must load and
    initialize the servlet as the application is
    deployed. The container must guarantee that
    servlets marked with lower integers are loaded
    before servlets marked with higher integers. The
    container may choose the order of loading of
    servlets with the same load-on-start-up value "
    Kind regards,

    Hi All,
    Appreciate if anyone can help.
    I have set up a cluster containing two nodes - one local and other
    remote machine on weblogic 8.1.4
    then i install my application this cluster setup its working fine.
    for my requirement i upgrade the the weblogic version from 8.1.4 to
    8.1.6 .
    i upgrade through the smart update from the bea site . i upgraded both
    the node.
    i started the admin server.it started with no issue.
    my problem comes when i start the my managed server on the cluster .it
    gives me this exception.

    i checked the classpath it has the same jdk that i used for 8.1.4
    (jdk1.4.05 from sun.)
    should i used new jdk that comes with the upgrade package of 8.1.6 like

  • Servlet deploy via command line

    Is there a way to deploy Servlets like EJB. I mean, is there a command line
              you can use under Unix to hot-deploy a servlet without using the Console nor
              to restart the server?

    You have to set the servlet classpath in weblogic.properties file to a
              specific directory. Now If all your servlets are present in this specific
              directory then you dont have to restart the server.

  • Help with the Oracle Fusion Order Demo deployment to Weblogic Server

    Hello all,
    I am new to SOA and am in the process of understanding SOA concepts. I am trying to deploy the Fusion Order Demo sample application to the Weblogic server. I am following the instructions given at : [http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/bulldog/deploysoaapp/deployment.htm|http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/bulldog/deploysoaapp/deployment.htm] .
    I am getting error when running the ant task "server-setup-seed-deploy-test" which deploys the Composite applications to the Weblogic Server. The ant log is pasted at the end of the post. The only difference i found from the instructions is that i do not have a AS11gR1SOA directory in my MW_HOME. Instead i have Oracle_SOA1 and i gave that directory's path for the parameter "soa.server.oracle.home".
    I tried running the sub tasks in the "server-setup-seed-deploy-test" individually and only the last task "test-fod-composite-end2end" failed. Since the other tasks like "compile-deploy-all" were successfull, I tried to see the deployed applications in the soa domain. When i checked the soa domain in the Weblogic server console, I see only the "B2BX12OrderGateway" under the soa-infra. The OrderBookingComposite and others are not deployed.
    Please help me in fixing this. Hope I have explained the problem correctly.
    Thanks in advance
    Nishan

  • Jdeveloper WS proxy error while invoking  web service deployed on weblogic

    Hello experts, can you please help me. I have web service deployed on weblogic server.
    I have not set any credential for this web service. I can test the service from SOAPUI without providing any credentials.
    Then I generated WS proxy client using Jdeveloper. When I try to run the client, I do not know why I get security execption (shown below) eventhough I have not secured the web service deployed on weblogic server.
    java.lang.SecurityException: keyStoreFilename is either null or empty string
         at weblogic.wsee.security.util.CertUtils.getCertificate(CertUtils.java:87)
         at pilot1.ContactWSPortTypePortClient.getBSTCredentialProvider(ContactWSPortTypePortClient.java:104)
         at pilot1.ContactWSPortTypePortClient.setPortCredentialProviderList(ContactWSPortTypePortClient.java:78)
         at pilot1.ContactWSPortTypePortClient.main(ContactWSPortTypePortClient.java:46)
    Process exited with exit code 0.
    Here is my client class :
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    try {
    contactWSService = new ContactWSService();
    ContactWSPortType contactWSPortType = contactWSService.getContactWSPortTypePort();
    Map<String, Object> requestContext = ((BindingProvider) contactWSPortType).getRequestContext();
    setPortCredentialProviderList(requestContext);
    // Add your code to call the desired methods.
    // QueryPageInputSecondPage qpisp= new QueryPageInputSecondPage(); //I have commented it in order to resolve security issue
    System.out.println("Inside the client class");
    } catch (Exception ex) {
    ex.printStackTrace();
    Inside the method setPortCredentialProviderList(), I have not provided any credentials, keystores etc. Because weblogic is not setup with SSL and also I have not set up any authorization or authentication for the web service. I do not know why I am able to test it through SOAPUI and why not using WS proxy.
    Appreciate your quick response.
    thanks a lot

    // Add your code to call the desired methods.
    // QueryPageInputSecondPage qpisp= new QueryPageInputSecondPage(); //I have commented it in order to resolve security issue
    System.out.println("Inside the client class");
    } catch (Exception ex) {
    ex.printStackTrace();
