SES Task Flows

Using webcente/jdeveloper *.6
SES 11.1.2.2
Configured the crawler for content and discussion.
Issue - using the task flows it's only searching the content server.
What do we need to do to enable.
Portal pages
Discussion
and serach to only return the content/pages/discussion user hs access to?
Which the best task flow to use.

Sorry about that. I had incorrectly assumed it was the same architecture since just about everything else is the same.
Some research on MOSS highlights the following
How To Implement Page Search In Webcenter Portal? [ID 1351749.1]
Note: Page search in WebCenter Portal Applications is not possible and our Product Engineering team is already aware of this. An unpublished Bug 11800925 Use SES to crawl pages of Public WebCenter applications has been raised to address this concern.
You might want to log a ticket and reference the bug mentioned above.

    I would recommend reading this before posting here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/adf-methodology/PzncJBPMFDw/7mxNblt_ppYJ
    You give far to little detail about the scenario.
    Is it an OOTB taskflow that you extended. If so, which one and what parameter did you add + how did you do it.
    How did you deploy to spaces
    There are a lot of steps in that process that can go wrong so don't expect us to come up with an answer based upon this basic information.

  • Creation an ADF Task Flow Based on a Human Task

    Hello!
    While creating ADF Task Flow Based on a Human Task, I can't bind New TaskFlow to task, which I choose in Dialog.
    Details:
    I Have:
    BPM Project with PackageCreation.task
    ADF Project in Same Application
    I do:
    1. in Application Navigator right click on ADF Project -> New -> Web Tier -> JSF -> ADF Task Flow Based on a Human Task
    in creation Dialog I choose PackageCreation.task and Don't change name of New TaskFlow (automatically JDeveloper set this name to PackageCreation_TaskFlow)
    I have After that:
    new ADF Task Flow and my old PackageCreation.task.
    Question:
    Why my Task don't bind to created ADF task Flow based on it?
    I think, that while creating ADF Task Flow Based on a Human Task it has to change my task, writing some thing like This (inside xml):
    <taskFlowFileLocation>file:/D:/JDeveloper/mywork/SalesQuoteLab/EnterQuoteUILab/public_html/WEB-INF/EnterQuoteDetails_TaskFlow.xml</taskFlowFileLocation>
    That xml element is creating in xml of *.task, while making auto-generation form for human task in BPM Project.

    Juan C,
    I use JDeveloper 11g Release 1.
    May be I didn't explained my question correctly.
    taskdetails1 is creating, and in Data Controls I have objects of my BPM Human Task Payload.
    But in that file "PackageCreation.task" in source I can't find any link to instantly created TaskFlow.xml in my UI project.
    So, I have
    NEW project "PackageCreationUI" with PackageCreation_TaskFlow.xml in it (and TaskDetails1 file too).
    AND Did't Changed PackageCreation.task in BPM Project.
    If I use *"BPM form creation wizard"*, after creating project and TaskFlow in it I see Changes in PackageCreation.task in BPM Project, something like that:
    <taskFlowFileLocation>file:/C:/JDeveloper/mywork/testApp/PackageCreationUI/public_html/WEB-INF/PackageCreation_TaskFlow.xml</taskFlowFileLocation>

  • Best way to refresh page after returning from task flow?

    Hello -
    (Using jdev 11g release 1)
    What is the best way to refresh data in a page after navigating to and returning from a task flow with an isolated data control scope where that data is changed and commited to the database?
    I have 2 bounded task flows: list-records-tf and edit-record-tf
    Both use page fragments
    list-records-tf has a list.jsff fragment and a task flow call to edit-record-tf
    The list.jsff page has a table of records that a user can click on and a button which, when pressed, will pass control to the edit-record-tf call. (There are also set property listeners on the button to set values in the request that are used as parameters to edit-record-tf.)
    The edit-record-tf always begins a new transaction and does not share data controls with the calling task flow. It consists of an application module call to set up the model according to the parameters passed in (edit record X or create new record Y or...etc.), a page fragment with a form to allow users to edit the record, and 2 different task flow returns for saving/cancelling the transaction.
    Back to the question - when I change a record in the edit page, the changes do not show up on the list page until I requery the data set. What is the best way to get the list page to refresh itself automatically upon return from the edit-record-tf?
    (If I ran the edit task flow in a popup dialog I could just use the return listener on the command component that launched the popup. But I don't want to run this in a dialog.)
    Thank you for reading my question.

    What if you have the bean which has refresh method as TF param? Call that method after you save the data. or use contextual event.

  • What is difference between ADF Task Flow and Faces-Config - when delpoy ?

    What is difference between ADF Task Flow and Faces-Config? When I create navigation between pages with ADF task flow then the navigation don't work when I deploy my application to Weblogic 10.3. When I use default server then navigation works fine. With Faces_config in both situations all works ok - on Stanalone server and default.
    Where is the problem?
    Best regards!

    Shay, I don't use both faces-config and adf task flow! When I failed with task flow I tried faces-config.
    I have active on my weblogic - adf.oracle.domain(1.0,11.1.1.0.0). This is the right ADF? If yes then where is the problem?
    Best regards!

  • How to get return values from task flow in af:region ?

    Hi!
    I'm working with a taskFlow that is rendered inside a popup using the "popup inside a region pattern" (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/adf/patterns/popupregionpattern.pdf), but now this taskFlow has an input parameter and a return value definition. So the question is how to get a value returned by this taskFlow thas is called inside a region?
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    write the value to a shared memory scope like session and read it in the regionNavigation listener. If you follow the paper you refer to then the listener determines of the viewId is null, this a return happens. It wuld then look in the memory scope for the return value.
    Another option would be to use an object that you pass as an argument to the task flow you open in the popup. Then you change the object you passed in, which then makes the return information available in teh calling flow. The object you pass in would have to be in a shared scope too

  • Unable to pass parameter value from a Task flow to a Portlet

    Hi All,
    I'm using Jdev 11.1.1.6.0 and created a simple ADF application with one Taskflow which contains one JSF page to display the User details from the default LDAP configured within the Integrated Weblogic Server. The Taskflow have one Parameter to accept the User Email Id as input. Based on the given input value, we will fetch the User details from Weblogic server and display in the JSF Page. I created a portlet out of Taskflow by "Create Portlet Entry" and deployed it onto Integrated Weblogic server.
    Portlet works well when executed standalone for the given User Email Id values as input.
    Then I created a webcenter Application, On a page, there is a task flow that contains a form with one input text field and one Submit button, and a portlet (that displays the User details from LDAP) that listens for user input from the form. Clicking the Submit button sends the user entered texts to the listening portlet. This is a combination of contextual events established by the producer (task flow) and the wiring of the portlet based parameters from within the consuming page definition file.
    The taskflow page which contains the form with Submit button, within the page defintion file contains an event binding (submitEventBinding) and a contextual based event (submitEvent). This event is tied to the ActionListener of the commandButton.
    After added both the task flow and the portlet onto a page, I have subscribed to the contextual event of the task flow, and completed the wiring of the Taskflow and Portlet events together.
    But in the Form, when I enter the User Email Id in the input filed and click the Submit button, I'm getting the below error -

  • Open task flow in new Window

    Hi All,
    JDeveloper version : 11.1.1.6
    ADF
    My Requirement: My taskflow contains three pages(page1,page2 and page 3). In page page2 have a 'commandImageLink' button. When i click the Button the 'page2' should be open in 'New Browser Window'.
    Is it possible with in task flow can i open fragments in New window. Please suggest a best way to accomplish this problem.
    Thanks
    - Moahnraj

    Hi.
    This is fairly simple to do. You can configure a bounded task flow to run in a modal dialog by using a task flow call activity and setting the <tt>useWindow</tt> attribute to true.
    See full instructions here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/web.1111/b31974/taskflows_dialogs.htm#BABBAFJB

  • How to filter View Objects on Main Page - Unbounded Task Flow

    Hi All,
    Version: 11.1.1.4
    I have a scenario where I am trying to filter the Employee information by EmployeeID and show their related Items. I can do this if I encapsulate Employee and / or Items in bounded task flows and expose their view Criteria in methods that I am setting on the App Module. I could also add the bind variable to the View Object queries. The problem I am having is that I want to display a pop up based on the item they select. My issue is that I can't seem to figure out how to either grab the item row selected and pass it to the pop up (Can't create a control flow from a page fragment to a page - which as far as I can understand the pop up in the task flow has to be a page and not a page fragment) or drop the employee view object and item view object on the main page and have them be filtered.
    So basically two issues:
    1. If I use the Employee and Item bounded task flows and place them as regions on the main page then I am having difficulties passing the row selection (item selected) and pass it to my pop up window (another task flow).
    2. If I place the employee and item view objects on my main page the original methods I am using to filter the data are not getting called at all. I have tried placing them in the adf-config task flow prior to my main page view and going into my main page page def and adding them as method calls in the binding.
    I am sure I am doing something wrong or maybe even creating an invalid approach, but I should be able to filter my employee and item data on load within my unbounded task flow or use the data within my bounded task flows and generate a popup with data I am collecting from my item row.
    As always greatly appreciate the feedback....still really ignorant with ADF.

    I figured out the issue Shay. I didn't have my pageFlowScope value set on the task-flow-call. So I had the parameter name and value set on the input of my downstream bounded task flow, but when I add the control to call the task flow I didn't have the task-flow call value set. That piece was not intuitive to me. It makes sense that it would have to know how to pass the value.....just wasn't sure where it should be set.

  • How to create a Region without Task Flow

    I want to create a Region without creating bounded task flow.
    I need to divide my page into some Regions, and I want to have Page Fragments under each region.
    I created one Region but not able to understand what I need to give as value attribute
    <af:region value="">

    Hi,
    Instead of using region, try using <af:declarativeComponent> for this.

  • The subtle use of task flow "No Controller Transaction" behavior

    I'm trying to tease out some subtle points about the Task Flow transactional behavior option "<No Controller Transaction>".
    OTN members familiar with task flows in JDev 11g and on wards would know that task flows support options for transactions and data control scope. Some scenarios based on these options:
    a) When we pick options such as "Use Existing Transaction" and shared data control scope, the called Bounded Task Flow (BTF) will join the Data Control Frame of its caller. A commit by the child does essentially nothing, a rollback of the child rolls any data changes back to when the child BTF was called (i.e. an implicit save point), while a commit of the parent commits any changes in both the child and parent, and a rollback of a parent loses changes to the child and parent.
    A key point to realize about this scenario is the shared data control scope gives both the caller and called BTF the possibility to share a db connection from the connection pool. However this is dependent on the configuration of the underlying services layer. If ADF BC Application Modules (AMs) are used, and they use separate JNDI datasources this wont happen.
    b) When we pick options such as "Always Begin New Transaction" and isolated data control scope, the called BTF essentially has its own Data Control Frame separate to that of the caller. A commit or rollback in either the parent/caller or child/called BTF are essentially isolated, or in other words separate transactions.
    Similar to the last point but the exact opposite, regardless how the underlying business services are configured, even if ADF BC AMs are used with the same JNDI data source, essentially separate database connections will be taken out assisting the isolated transactional behavior with the database.
    This brings me back to my question, of the subtle behavior of the <No Controller Transaction> option. Section 16.4.1 of the Fusion Guide (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/web.1111/b31974/taskflows_parameters.htm#CIHIDJBJ) says that when this option is set that "A new data control frame is created without an open transaction." So you could argue this mode is the same as isolated data control scope, and by implication, separate connections will be taken out by the caller/called BTF. Is this correct?
    Doesn't this in turn have implications about database read consistency? If we have one BTF participating in a transaction with the database, reading then writing data, and a separate BTF with the <No Controller Transaction> option set, it's possible it wont see the data of the first BTF unless committed before the No Controller Transaction BTF is called and queries it's own dataset correct?
    An alternative question which takes a different point of view, is why would you ever want this option, don't the other options cover all the scenarios you could possibly want to use a BTF?
    Finally as a separate question based around the same option, presumably an attempt to commit/rollback the Data Control Frame of the associated No Controller Transaction BTF will fail. However what happens if the said BTF attempts to call the Data Control's (not the Data Control Frame's) commit & rollback options? Presumably this will succeed?
    Your thoughts and assistance appreciated.
    Regards,
    CM.

    For other readers this reply is a continuation of this thread and another thread: Re: Clarification?: Frank & Lynn's book - task flow "shared" data control scope
    Hi Frank
    Thanks for your reply. Okay I get the idea that were setting the ADFc options here, that can be overridden by the implementation of data control, and in my specific case that's the ADF BC AM implementation. I've always known that, but the issue became complicated because it didn't make sense what "No Controller Transaction" actually did and when you should use it, and in turn data control frames and their implementation aren't well documented.
    I think a key point from your summation is that "No Controller Transaction" in context of ADF BC, with either data control scope option selected, is effectively (as far as we can tell) already covered by the other options. So if our understanding is correct, the recommendation for ADF BC programmers is I think, don't use this option as future programmers/maintainers wont understand the subtlety.
    However as you say for users of other data controls, such as those using web services, then it makes sense and possibly should be the only option?
    Also regarding your code harvest pg 14 entry on task flow transactions: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/march2011-otn-harvest-351896.pdf
    ....and the following quote in context of setting the transaction option to Begin New Transaction:
    >
    When a bounded task flow creates a new transaction, does it also mean it creates a new database connection? No.
    >
    ....I think you need to be a little more careful in this answer, as again it depends on the underlying data control implementation as you point out in this thread. In considering ADF BC, this is correct if you assume only one root AM. However if the BTFs have separate root AMs, this should result in 2 connections and transactions..... well at least I assume it does, though I wonder what will happen if both AMs share the same JNDI data source.... is the framework smart enough to join the connections/transactions in this case?
    Also in one of your other code harvests (apologies I can't find which one at the moment) you point out sharing data control scopes is only possible if the BTF data controls have the same name. In context of an ADF BC application, with only one root AM used by multiple BTFs, this of course would be the case. Yet, the obvious implication to your summary of transaction outcomes in this thread, if the developers for whatever reason change the DC name across DataBindings.cpx files sourced from ADF Libraries containing the BTFs, then no, it wont.
    Overall the number of variables in this gets really complicated, creating multiple dimensions to the matrix.
    Going to your last point, how can the documentation be improved? I think as you say the documentation is right in context of the options for ADFc, but, as the same documentation is included in the Fusion Dev Guide which assumes ADF BC is being used, then it isn't clear enough and can be misleading. It would seem to me, that depending on the underlying data control technology used, then there needs to be documentation that talks about the effect of ADFc task flow behavior options in the context of each technology. And God knows how you describe a scenario where BTFs use DCs that span technologies.
    From context of ADF BC, one thing that I've found hard in analyzing all of this is there doesn't seem to be an easy way from the middletier to check how many connections are being taken out from a data source. The FMW Control unfortunately when sampling db connections taken out from a JNDI data source pool, doesn't sample quickly enough to see how many were consumed. Are you aware of some easy method to check the number of the db connections opened/closed?
    Finally in considering an Unbounded Task Flow as separate to BTFs, do you have any conclusions about how it participates in the transactions? From what I can determine the UTF lies in it's own data control frame, and is effectively isolated from the BTF transactions, unless, the BTF calls commit/rollback at the ADF BC data control level (as separate to commit/rollback at the data control frame level), and the data control is used both by the UTF and BTF.
    As always thanks for your time and assistance.

  • Task Flow Transaction Behavior and AM Activation/Passivation

    This type is snapshot is usually visible in case of 'No Controller Transaction', when AM Pooling is off or if AM Pooling is enabled then Failover support is on.
    Is this OK for this snapshot to appear in JDev log or am I missing something?

  • How to use a menu model with a dynamic region and a task flow parameter

    I am using JDeveloper/ADF 11.1.2.1
    I have a menu model that changes which task flow is displayed in a given dynamic region using a backing bean. That works fine. I would like to be able to pass parameters to that task flow based on which menu item is clicked. For example: i have a task flow which shows a page where input fields are used to filter a table. Depending on the value of the task flow parameter I want to change which input fields are displayed. So i will have multiple menu items which refer to the same task flow but have a different set of parameters. I have tried using request scope variables and setting them in the backing bean for the dynamic region which works until the query is submitted at which point the request scope has changed and the value is no longer available. I have tried a number of other 'creative' approaches but have not gotten anything to work. Anyone done this before? Or have an idea on how to solve it?

    Frank,
    I did a fair bit of digging based on your suggestions and some things I found in your Oracle Fusion Developer's Guide book and I came up with something that works really well. It is fairly elegant but requires code. It would be nice if something like a setPropertyListener could be rolled into the menu model. That would make my solution completely declarative.
    Here is my solution:
    My task flow requires a the value #{pageFlowScope.type} to be set. My application has a dynamic region that is changed on the fly using a menu model. The region uses a backing bean (mainRegionManagerBean) which is in the viewScope to manage what taskflow is shown in the region. There are multiple menu items in the menu model that point to the same task flow but pass different values to the #{pageFlowScope.type} parameter. So i wired the menu items up to different methods in the mainRegionManagerBean which set the value for me. See the relevant code below.
    I would be very interested in the feedback from someone with more experience than I on my solution. Maybe there is a more elegant way...
    In the backing bean there is a primary method that was created by generating a dynamic region link which sets the task flow id and then other methods which call it and set the relevant parameters. (JSFUtils is a helper class i wrote to centralize some common tasks):
    public String shipmentTraceMasterTaskflow()
    taskFlowId = "/WEB-INF/taskflow/master/shipmentTraceMasterTaskflow.xml#shipmentTraceMasterTaskflow";
    JSFUtils.setValue("pageFlowScope.type", "");
    return null;
    public String shipmentTraceProNumber()
    shipmentTraceMasterTaskflow();
    JSFUtils.setValue("pageFlowScope.type", "pronumber");
    return null;
    public String shipmentTraceBOLNumber()
    shipmentTraceMasterTaskflow();
    JSFUtils.setValue("pageFlowScope.type", "bolnumber");
    return null;
    In the menu model (notice that these reference the different methods from above):
    <itemNode id="itemNode_ProNumberTrace" label="ProNumber Trace" action="#{viewScope.mainRegionManagerBean.shipmentTraceProNumber}" focusViewId=""/>
    <itemNode id="itemNode_BOLNumberTrace" label="BOL Number Trace" action="#{viewScope.mainRegionManagerBean.shipmentTraceBOLNumber}" focusViewId=""/>
    On the page:
    <af:region value="#{bindings.dynamicRegion1.regionModel}" id="r1"/>
    In the pagedef:
    <taskFlow id="dynamicRegion1" taskFlowId="${viewScope.mainRegionManagerBean.dynamicTaskFlowId}" activation="deferred" xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/controller/binding" Refresh="ifNeeded">
    <parameters>
    <parameter id="type" value="#{pageFlowScope.type}"/>
    </parameters>
    </taskFlow>

  • How to share the same Database Connection when using several Task Flows ?

    Hi All,
    I’m using JDev 11.1.1.3.0.
    I’m developing ADF Fusion Applications (ABC BC, ADF Faces…)
    These applications are deployed on a Weblogic server.
    Each application has only one Application Module.
    All Application Modules have the same connection type defined: JDBC DataSource : jdbc/GCCDS
    It is working fine.
    I’ve also developed Task Flow Applications for small thinks that are reused in multiple main applications.
    Each Task Flow Application has also one Application Module with the same connections type as main applications.
    All these task flows are deployed to JAR file (ADF Library JAR File) and are reused on my main applications. (drag and drop from the Resource Palette to ADF Regions….).
    There are some parameters passed to Task Flows, so that they can filter data depending on which main applications they are called from.
    Everything is working perfectly.
    All my main applications are using more and more task flows. Which is nice for the reusability etc…?
    Only ONE PROBLEM: DATABASE CONNECTIONS.
    Every Task Flows service made a database connection. So one user may have 10 database connections for the same adf page. And when there are 100 users that are working at the same time, it becomes a problem.
    How to share the same database connections for the main applications and all task flows which are used in the main application?
    Best Regards
    Nicolas

    Hi John,
    When I open a ADF Library JAR file of one of my task flow. (gcc_tf_recentSites.jar)
    I can see TF_RecentSitesService.xml and TF_RecentSitesServiceImpl.class in gcc_tf_recentSites.jar\mu\gcc\tf\recentSites\model\service folder
    + bc4j.xcfg in gcc_tf_recentSites.jar\mu\gcc\tf\recentSites\model\service\common folder.
    bc4j.xcfg details are
    +<?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8'?>+
    +<BC4JConfig version="11.1" xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/bc4j/configuration">+
    +<AppModuleConfigBag ApplicationName="mu.gcc.tf.recentSites.model.service.TF_RecentSitesService">+
    +<AppModuleConfig DeployPlatform="LOCAL" jbo.project="mu.gcc.tf.recentSites.model.TF_RecentSites_Model" name="TF_RecentSitesServiceLocal" ApplicationName="mu.gcc.tf.recentSites.model.service.TF_RecentSitesService">+
    +<Security AppModuleJndiName="mu.gcc.tf.recentSites.model.service.TF_RecentSitesService"/>+
    +<Custom JDBCDataSource="jdbc/GCCDS"/>+
    +</AppModuleConfig>+
    +<AppModuleConfig name="TF_RecentSitesServiceShared" ApplicationName="mu.gcc.tf.recentSites.model.service.TF_RecentSitesService" DeployPlatform="LOCAL" JDBCName="gccdev" jbo.project="mu.gcc.tf.recentSites.model.TF_RecentSites_Model">+
    +<AM-Pooling jbo.ampool.maxpoolsize="1" jbo.ampool.isuseexclusive="false"/>+
    +<Security AppModuleJndiName="mu.gcc.tf.recentSites.model.service.TF_RecentSitesService"/>+
    +</AppModuleConfig>+
    +</AppModuleConfigBag>+
    +</BC4JConfig>+
    So, it seems that the Application Module is packaged with the task flow....
    Is it normal ?
    Regards
    Nicolas

  • How to Use No DB connection App with task flow desined as 'New Transaction'

    Hi,
    My application is fully depend on Custom java datasource implmentation and it requires no DB connection at all. I've done necessary implementation (http://andrejusb.blogspot.in/2012/03/use-case-for-adf-bc-with-no-database.html) by creating CustomDatabaseConnectionStrategy that says
        @Override
        public ApplicationModule createApplicationModule(Hashtable env) {
          env.put(Configuration.DB_REQUIRES_CONNECTION,Boolean.FALSE);
          env.put(PropertyMetadata.ENV_DO_FAILOVER.pName, PropertyConstants.FALSE);
          return super.createApplicationModule(env);
        }My application works fine until i keep my task flow transaction as 'No Controller transaction'. Yes, I use Dynamic tab shell template as UI. But when I keep it as 'Always Begin with New Transaction' and not to share the Data control, Screen is not at all getting rendered. I get some exception (I guess the moment I try to open the task flow, it is trying to get the connection. Since there is no connection available, It gives me this error. Is it so?)
    One of my client requirement is to open the same screen under multiple tabs as a fresh screen (i.e. with different transaction. We do transaction through tuxedo transaction server). If I load a screen under first Tab with some data, added some record, deleted some record.. and If I load the same screen under another Tab, it should not refelect the same data whatever I have under first Tab.
    Requirement:
    I don't have DB connection in my app. But I should be able to define the task-flow to open with new instance of Application module whenever it is opened.
    Your help on this would be appreciated.

    If I understand you requirements correctly, you do not need ADF taskflow transactions but you just need fresh DataControls. If it is so, then you do not have to set the taskflow's transaction behaviour to "Always Begin with New Transaction" (e.g. keep it to "No Controller Transaction"), but set the DataControl frame to "isolated" (e.g. uncheck the "Share data controls with the calling task flow" checkbox in the taskflow's Property Inspector). In this way each taskflow instance will be started in a different DataControl frame (e.g. it will instantiate its own set of ApplicationModule instances).
