Session handle is not valid in niDMM Configure Measurement Digits

I am trying to communicate to a NI-PXI4065 DMM and I am getting the error -1074130544 (niDMM Configure Measurement Digits.vi<ERR>The session handle is not valid) for some reason.  Does it have to do with the instrument handle input going in  the niDMM Configure Measurement Digits. vi or not?
I achieved the instrument handle after initializing the DMM with the niDMMIntialize.vi, so I believe the instrument handle that I am using is correct.
Thanks a lot to anyone who can help.

Hi Gjoraas,
I'm curious about how your assigning the instrument handle- you'll want to make sure that it matches the name in Measurement and Automation Explorer (that name will be found in Devices and Interfaces»DAQmx Devices- you'll want to use the name in quotations).  Otherwise, is it possible that you are running two programs or projects that both use your DMM?  If so, you'll want to try only running one program at a time.  My last suggestion would be to reset the device in Measurement and Automation Explorer, by right-clicking on it and selecting 'reset device'.  Hope this helps, let me know how it goes.  Have a great day!

    I am using LabView 2011 on Win7.
I am trying to work my way through the "Verification Procedure" part of the "NI PXI-4071 Calibration Procedure".  Step 3 of the Verification Procedure states "Call the niDMM Reset VI." and displays Figure 1. The Device, NI PXI-4071, displays OK in NI-MAX (Figure 2) and works OK with the "NI DMM Soft Front Panel" program. When I run what I think is the correct code, the error -1074130544, "The session handle is not valid." is displayed. Hi Ed,
If you want to call niDMM Reset, you will need to provide an instrument handle rather than an instrument descriptor.
To start a session to your DMM and generate an instrument handle that you can use with other NI-DMM functions, you will first need to call niDMM Initialize or niDMM Initialize with Options.  You can wire the "Dev1" to the "Instrument Descriptor" pin and the function will return an instrument handle.  You can then wire the "instrument handle out" pin to the "instrument handle" pin on the niDMM Reset VI.  Whenever you initialize a session to an instrument, it is also good practice to close out the session by wiring the instrument handle to a niDMM Close function.  The snippet of code below shows what I've described:
I also included a Simple Error Handler VI to report any errors that occur.
Also, it looks as if you are calling niDMM Reset with Defaults instead of niDMM Reset.  If you haven't assigned any user-defined default values to your device's logical name then the two calls should be functionally equivalent.
If you make these changes you should no longer generate the error.
    Good luck!

  • Error - session handle nor valid for ivi

    Hi All
I have posted this question in existing thread also I guess.
I am trying to control TDK lambda power supply through LabVIEW using IVI drivers.
logical name set in a MAX is same as what I am giving in VI to InitializeWithOptions.vi . However I am ending up with this error "IviDCPwr Initialize With Options.vi<ERR>
Primary Error: (Hex 0xBFFA1190) The session handle is not valid."
Not sure why this error is coming.
Can anyone help me with this error?

You might be using an IVI-COM driver and trying to use IVI-C Class driver VIs without having installed the IVI-COM adapters.
As mentioned in the knowledge base below The IVI-COM adapters are included with IVI Compliance Package 3.2 and later, but must be enabled in the installer's feature tree.

  • Issue when installing SQL Server Express 2012 - "The requested control is not valid for this service" + "Could not find the database engine startup handle"

    Good morning,
    I'm experiencing the following issue when installing Microsoft SQL Server Express 2012 (with tools, SQLEXPRWT_x86_ENU.exe) on the laptop of my company;
Installation goes plain until around the end of the progress bar, it stops on the setup of
    SqlEngineDBStartConfigAction_install_configrc_Cpu32
    giving 7-8 times, even pressing "Cancel", the message "The requested control is not valid for this service";
After this, I receive one last message ""Could not find the database engine startup handle", then installation ends with failures, in particular the Database Engine and the Server Replication failed to be installed.
    I've put in my SkyDrive the error log I received after the install;
I'm at full disposal if you need further information,
    thank you in advance
    Best regards
    Francesco

Well, i just ran into this issue and the problem was lack of admin rights. It was my company's laptop so got the setup initiated by my company's IT team with admin rights. However, the upon completion of setup, i go the same error messages as stated above:
    SqlEngineDBStartConfigAction_install_configrc_Cpu32
    giving 7-8 times, even pressing "Cancel", the message "The requested control is not valid for this service";
After this, I receive one last message ""Could not find the database engine startup handle", then installation ends with failures, in particular the Database Engine and the Server Replication failed to be installed.
Also, if you open SQL Server Configuration, the status of the service is "Change Pending" and you would not be able to set the startup login type to Local Service/System/Network.
Then, I just got my account added as Local Admin and then tried to start the service and was able to.
However, I am not sure whether same was the case for you.
Please mark the answer as helpful if i have answered your query. Thanks and Regards, Kartar Rana

The v$session views shows current sessions (which change rapidly), while the v$resource_limit shows the maximum resource utilization, like a high-water mark.

Thanks for pointing out the problem. I was suspecting the same too.
Unfortunately we are also using some third party libraries, which happen to be 32-bit. Would need a workaround somehow.
Could you mention the location from where u got the info regarding PAM on HPUX? As in where is it documented etc.?

  • Re: [iPlanet-JATO] Re: session timeout when not submitting to a handler

    Mark--
I know what's happening here, but am curious about your approach. You said
in an earlier email that you were generating links directly to JSPs, but
from what you are describing, you are generating JATO-style links to access
JATO pages. Nothing wrong with that, but there is a signficant difference.
Actually, it just occurred to me, I'm wondering what your URLs look like.
The way the request dispatching works in JATO is it ignores anything after
an initial "." in the final part of the URL path. For example, a request
for "/myapp/module1/MyPage.jsp" doesn't actually try to hit the JSP, instead
it tries to hit the JATO page "/myapp/module1/MyPage".
The end result is that you may think you are accessing a JSP directly, but
are instead accessing a JATO page. The reason the request dispatching works
this way is because it is illegal to access JATO JSPs directly, and there is
actually a (disabled) JATO feature that piggybacks on the use of the
    dot-delimited URL.
So, now I need to understand your intent. I wasn't really sure why you were
generating direct JSP/page links to begin with. This works against the Type
II architecture JATO uses, in which all JATO requests go back to the
    controller servlet.
If you are trying to design something like a menu page, you may have thought
that it was burdensome to create a number of HREF children, plus implement
event handlers for each of them. This definitely would be burdensome beyond
just a handful of links, but this is why JATO provides other mechanisms for
doing what I'll call here "polymorphic HREFs".
Assuming this menu page scenario, the easiest thing to do is to simply use
one HREF child on the page, and add a value to it each time it is rendered
that distinguishes it from the other instances on the page. In your event
handler for the HREF, you simply check this value and use it to decide which
page to forward to. You can add a value to an HREF or Button by using the
"addExtraValue()" method. Or, if you are using JATO 1.2, you can add extra
query string NVPs right in the JSP document using the "queryParams"
attribute of the <jato:href> tag. Thus, your one HREFchild and event
handler become "polymorphic" because what they do depends on the context in
    which they are invoked.
Now, I still don't have confirmation that this is what you were trying to
do, so until I do, let me explain the exception you're seeing. JATO assumes
that when a request comes in for a page that includes the pageAttributes
NVP, it is a request coming from a previously generated JATO page. Because
of the way JATO works, this means that the request dispatching code should
send the request back to the originally rendered page. For example, if Page
A renders an HREF, which the user then activates, JATO sends the request
back to Page A for handling. All of the HREFs and forms generated during
rendering of Page A actually refer back to Page A, regardless of where those
links or buttons actually pass the request in their event handlers/Command
    objects.
So, what's happening when you include the pageAttributes in your HREFs is
that JATO is assuming that a request is being sent to the target page, with
the assumption that the target page has a mechanism in place to handle the
request. This assumption relies on the specification of the "originator" of
the request being specified in the request. For links/HREFs, the name and
value of the HREF is sent along with the request. For forms, the name and
value of the button that was pressed are sent in the request. JATO uses the
presence of these name/value pairs to decide which event handler, or which
Command object, to invoke to handle the request.
The exception you are receiving is saying that there was no object on the
target page that indicated it could handle the request. This is to be
expected, since you have not specified a query parameter that indicates
which CommandField child is responsible the request. However, this is where
I see the disconnect, because that is not what I believe you were trying to
    do (as explained above).
So now, given all the information above, can you tell me what you're trying
to accomplish, and whether or not the info I've given you has helped you to
design a mechanism more in line with a JATO approach? If not, given that I
understand what you're trying to do, I can offer a more concrete solution.
    Todd

Initially we tried to add the pageAttributes NVP as well, but that
    was
causing an exception, so we stopped doing that. That's odd--what was the exception?
Our problem now is that when the SessionTimes out it does not go
    to
onSessionTimeout method as in processRequestMethod of the
ApplicationServletBase it looks for pageAttributes. If it is notnull
then only onSessionTimeOut method is called. This is sadly the only technique for determining if a session hastimed out
and a new one been created, versus the initial creation of thesession.
Is there any work around for this? Maybe you can suggest how topass
the pageAttributes without causing the initial exception?Definitely--let me know what the exception was and I'll be able tosuggest
something. However, it shouldn't really be any harder thanappending a
"jato.pageAttributes=" empty NVP on the HREF.

OK, here's what I'm trying to do: We have, like you said, a menu
page. The pages that it goes to and the number of links are all
variable and read from the database. In NetD we were able to create
    URLs in the form
    pgXYZ?SPIDERSESSION=abcd
so this is what I'm trying to replicate here. So the URL that works
    is
    pgContactUs?GXHC_GX_jst=fc7b7e61662d6164&GXHC_gx_session_id_=cc9c6dfa5
    601afa7
which I interpreted to be the equivalent of the old Netd way. Our
javascript also loads other frames of the page in the same manner.
And I believe the URL-rewritten frame sources of a frameset look like
    this too.
This all worked except for the timeout problem. In theory we could
rewrite all URLs to go to a handler, but that would be...
    inconvenient.

Does anyone have seen this error before? Can someone help me with this one?
    Thnx,

I'm running tomcat on a CentOS release 6.4 (Final) server. I installed Tomcat 6 through an RPM from the CentOS sources. I have installed Apache Tomcat/6.0.24 wit JVM version 1.7.0_09-icedtea-mockbuild_2013_01_16_18_52-b00, the JVM Vendor is Oracle Corporation.
My tomcat configuration needs to be done in '/etc/tomcat6/tomcat6.conf'
I installed the APM Agent in the path '/opt/apm/' with the rights  40755 (root/root). The files have the following rights:
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 root tomcat  32046 Mar  3 15:38 apm_facade.jar
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 root tomcat 244819 Mar  3 15:38 apm_monitor.jar
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 root tomcat  38110 Mar  3 15:38 apm_producers.jar
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 root tomcat 207006 Mar  3 15:38 asm-all-3.3.1.jar
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 root tomcat   4157 Mar  3 15:38 ASM_Third_Party_Notices.txt
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 root tomcat 241368 Mar  3 15:38 DispatcherStub.dll
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 root tomcat  36880 Mar  3 15:38 pmonitor.config.xml
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 root tomcat   2625 Mar  3 15:38 SEAgent.config.xml
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 root tomcat    830 Mar  5 15:19 Starter.properties
The above rights are equal to the /etc/tomcat6 directory with the tomcat configuration files.
In the tomcat6.conf I have added the following entries:
    #Microsoft SCOM APM
    JAVA_OPTS="${JAVA_OPTS} -Djava.library.path=/opt/apm"
    JAVA_OPTS="${JAVA_OPTS} -javaagent:/opt/apm/apm_facade.jar -Xbootclasspath/p:/opt/apm/apm_producers.jar -Xbootclasspath/p:/opt/apm/apm_facade.jar"
When I look into the running tomcat process I see the following:
    tomcat   17401     1  0 Mar05 ?        00:00:39 /usr/lib/jvm/jre/bin/java -Djava.library.path=/opt/apm -javaagent:/opt/apm/apm_facade.jar -Xbootclasspath/p:/opt/apm/apm_producers.jar -Xbootclasspath/p:/opt/apm/apm_facade.jar

    -Djava.util.logging.config.file=/usr/share/tomcat6/conf/logging.properties -Djava.util.logging.manager=org.apache.juli.ClassLoaderLogManager org.apache.catalina.startup.Bootstrap start
    My Starter.Properties looks like this:
    # Jars to load by inner classloader.
    # Use semicolons to separate the JAR entries
    ClassPath=apm_monitor.jar;asm-all-3.3.1.jar;apm_producers.jar

Thanks JoeyR.   I didn't realize the One to One sessions are now online.
The "activation code" threw me.  I took the One to One classes 4 years ago.  All I did was sign up in the store and the sessions started the following week inside the Apple Store.  Times have changed I see.

  • F400917: The current configuration is not valid for this feature. This feature cannot be used until you correct the configuration.

    Hello,
We recently changed to TFS as our bug tracking system and trying to understand how to change the existing states of Bug\Add new states. We installed TFS 2013 Update 4 and followed below process to change state values. For example, I would like to change
Bug State value of "Done" to "Closed",
    1. witadmin exportwitd /collection:"http://MyServer:8080/tfs/DefaultCollection" /p:MyProject /n:Bug /f:C:\TFS\bug.xml
    2. Replace all values of "Done" to Closed
    3. witadmin importwitd /collection:"http://MyServer:8080/tfs/DefaultCollection" /p:MyProject /f:C:\TFS\bug.xml
Then we see below error in Work -> Backlog
TF400917: The current configuration is not valid for this feature. This feature cannot be used until you correct the configuration.
Learn about how to correct your configuration
Details about the validation error appear below:
The following element contains an error: RequirementBacklog/States. TF401098: This element defines the states for work items that appear on your backlog. The state configuration is incorrect. Each work item on this backlog must have one state with the type
'Complete'. The following work item type does not have any state with the type 'Complete': Bug.
The following element contains an error: BugWorkItems/BugWorkItems. TF400506: This element defines the states for work items that represent Bugs or Defects. Each state must exist in at least one of the work item types that are defined in: BugWorkItems.
The following states do not exist in any of the work item types: Done.
Tried export, made changes to ProcessConfig file for Bug states and imported. Still same issue.
Please suggest on how to proceed with customization of Bug states\values in TFS 2013 Update 4
    Thanks,

  • 'MAPI Session Handle' of the NGW 'Object Request Broker' could not be accessed (0x80004005) on attempt to get an address book

    Hi!
When I try to access GW address book by calling
    DIGWAccount6::GetSystemAddressBook, or DIGWAccount6::AddressBooks, or even
DIGWMessage::Send, I'm getting messagebox with title "Address Book Error"
and message: "The 'MAPI Session Handle' of the Novell GroupWise 'Object
Request Broker' could not be accesses. The address book cannot run (error:
    status: 0x80004005)."
I'm using .NET and I only get this error when I create a console
application. With windows application everything goes fine.
I've tried reinstalling GW client, running fixmapi utility, installing
different versions of MAPI CDO, but still got this problem.
    Any ideas?

    In the Application object.

You might have kept your session idle for long time thats why it has got expired. Also check the Inactive Client Time Out in minutes property in MDS.ini and set it some value depending on your requirement.

    "L'erreur -1074130544 s'est produite à : Nœud de propriété (arg 1) dans niScope Read Cluster.vi:2->NOM_DE_MON_PROJET.vi
    Raisons possibles :
