"specified handle or index is not valid" on System.loadLibrary

Hi,
I have a WAS 6.40 installation on HPUX 11i. I am using a native method in one of the login modules I have made, but am getting the following error (stack trace shown below):

Strangely when I try to load the .sl library from a test application outside WAS it loads perfectly. Have tested a similar DLL on a WAS setup on Windows. It works fine there.

Hi Markus,
Thanks for pointing out the problem. I was suspecting the same too.
Unfortunately we are also using some third party libraries, which happen to be 32-bit. Would need a workaround somehow.
Could you mention the location from where u got the info regarding PAM on HPUX? As in where is it documented etc.?

Vishal

  • The specified index is not valid for the given resource

    I am trying to follow the tutorial on how to get Labview working with Solidworks and the demo CNC robot that the example comes with. After I deploy all the axes and my computer and the assembly file I try and switch the scan engine to active mode but it won't let me. It pops up with an error;
    "An error occured while attempting to switch the I/O scan mode. The specified index is not valid for the given resource".
    I'm just trying to do a basic straight line move with one axis. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I updated softmotion with Sp1 already and did all the recommended updates.

    I talked to some of our developers to get some more ideas for this error. Try the following:
    Go to the file path C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\DeploymentFramework (it is a hidden file so you may need to change your settings to see it)
    Delete the contents of that folder.
    Restart LabVIEW
    Redeploy your axes and see if it works.
    If it does not, repeat the process but create a new project after LabVIEW restarts.

  • Flat file connection: The file name "\server\share\path\file.txt" specified in the connection was not valid

    I'm trying to execute a SSIS package via SQL agent with a flat file source - however it fails with Code: 0xC001401E The file name "\server\share\path\file.txt" specified in the connection was not valid.
    It appears that the problem is with the rights of the user that's running the package (it's a proxy account). If I use a higher-privelege account (domain admin) to run the package it completes successfully. But this is not a long-term solution, and I can't
    see a reason why the user doesn't have rights to the file. The effective permissions of the file and parent folder both give the user full control. The user has full control over the share as well. The user can access the file (copy, etc) outside the SSIS
    package.
    Running the package manually via DTExec gives me the same error - I've tried 32 and 64bit versions with the same result. But running as a domain admin works correctly every time.
    I feel like I've been beating my head against a brick wall on this one... Is there some sort of magic permissions, file or otherwise, that are required to use a flat file target in an SSIS package?

    Hi Rossco150,
    I have tried to reproduce the issue in my test environment (Windows Server 2012 R2 + SQL Server 2008 R2), however, everything goes well with the permission settings as you mentioned. In my test, the permissions of the folders are set as follows:
    \\ServerName\Temp  --- Read
    \\ServerName\Temp\Source  --- No access
    \\ServerName\Temp\Source\Flat Files --- Full control
    I suspect that your permission settings on the folders are not absolutely as you said above. Could you double check the permission settings on each level of the folder hierarchy? In addition, check the “Execute as user” information from job history to make
    sure the job was running in the proxy security context indeed. Which version of SSIS are you using? If possible, I suggest that you install the latest Service Pack for you SQL Server or even install the latest CU patch.

  • [Forum FAQ] Troubleshooting error "The specified SQL server instance is not valid" when installing SCOM reporting service

    Symptom
    If you have failed to install SCOM reporting service, you may encounter below error when you reinstall it:
    “The specified SQL server instance is not valid”.
    (Figure 1)
    Figure 1.
    Reason
    This issue may be caused by multiple reasons, for example the reasons in Figure 1.
    However, you may find that SSRS and Report Server website are configured correctly and no SSL or proxy Server is used. In these scenario, you can open the log file under path
    to find the root reason:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\LogFiles
    Later, you will find the error as below:
    ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Library.ReportServerDisabledException: , Microsoft.ReportingServices.Library.ReportServerDisabledException:
    The report server cannot decrypt the symmetric key that is used to access sensitive or encrypted data in a report server database. You must either restore a backup key or delete all encrypted content. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException

    Solution
    According to the error message, you can delete encrypted content by following the steps below:
    Open SQL Reporting Services Configuration Manager.
    Select “Encryption Keys”.
    Click “Delete” to delete all encrypted content. (Figure 2)
    Figure 2.
    After that, we can install SCOM reporting service again, after successfully install reporting service, we should see the SCOM operation console as below:
    Figure 3.
    In addition, you may also encounter other errors when installing SCOM reporting service, and the troubleshooting steps may be different. However, we can also check SQL reporting
    service logs to find the root reason.

    Regards

    I see. Now works. So it would be like doing "SELECT ITEM,CATEGORY,COUNTRY, FROM TABLE WHERE CATEGORY='toy' AND COUNTRY='US'"
    All rows will contain the "CATEGORY" and "COUNTRY" fields (or more), which is kind of redundant and bandwidth consuming.
    Hope MS can change this.

  • A4 BAD Protocol Error: "Specified set of flags is not valid"

    Hi there
    I try to implement a copying procedure for mails. The application should copy all messages (with flags and all that stuff) from one mail account to another one. As mail server are used an Exchange 2003 Server and a Zimbra server (version 5). The connection protocol is IMAP. I'm using javaMail 1.4.0
    Anyway, if I'm trying to copy a message which has set the flags RECENT and SEEN as well as some user flags, I get this error message:

    zStore = zSession.getStore();
    zStore.connect(userZimbra, passwordZimbra);
    IMAPFolder fe = (IMAPFolder) eStore.getDefaultFolder().getFolder("inbox");
    IMAPFolder f = (IMAPFolder) zStore.getDefaultFolder().getFolder("inbox");
    f.open(Folder.READ_ONLY);
    Message[] msgs = f.getMessages();
    fe.appendMessages(msgs);Can someone help me and describe what I'm doing wrong??
    thanks

    Could You make an example?
    I tried to subclass the class 'IMAPMessage' (messages which are returned with folder.getMessage() are of that type) and cast the messages to my new class. Unfortunately, I get always a 'ClassCastException'.
    This are parts of my code:
    public class MyIMAPMessage extends IMAPMessage {
         protected MyIMAPMessage(IMAPFolder folder, int msgnum, int seqnum) {
              super(folder, msgnum, seqnum);
              // TODO Auto-generated constructor stub
         public Flags getFlags() {
              Flags flags = new Flags();
              for (int i=0; i<flags.getSystemFlags().length; i++)
                   flags.add(flags.getSystemFlags());
              return(flags);
    f.open(Folder.READ_ONLY);
    Message[] msgs = f.getMessages();
    System.out.println(((MyIMAPMessage)msgs[0]).getFlags());
    I think I do not exactly get your point. Maybe You could explain it a little more in detail.

  • Get-ChildItem with -LiteralPath is throwing "The specified wildcard character pattern is not valid" when filenames contain brackets

    I'm trying to get a list of folders in a hierarchy that don't contain any mp3 files. (The goal here is to eventually clean up all the "empty" folders that only have album art, thumbs.db, desktop.ini, etc. files left). So I wrote a quick PowerShell
    command to try to do this. But it doesn't seem to be working.
    I already checked out this thread <Get-ChildItem
    SomeFile[].txt occurs error because of the [brackets]: "specified wildcard pattern not valid"> and I think I'm using LiteralPath correctly. Any other hints for troubleshooting this problem? Here's the command I'm using.
    Get-ChildItem -Recurse -Directory | ?{
    @( @(Get-ChildItem -LiteralPath $_.FullName -Recurse) | ?{
    $_.Extension -eq ".mp3"}).Count -eq 0 }
    This is on the latest version of PowerShell found in Windows Technical Preview.

    Fair enough, but it still doesn't answer the original question- why isn't this working with -LiteralPath when the path contains brackets?
    Get-ChildItem -Recurse -Directory | ?{
    @( @(Get-ChildItem -LiteralPath $_.FullName -Recurse) | ?{
    $_.Extension -eq ".mp3"}).Count -eq 0 }

  • SCOM Reporting Server Installation Give Error The specified SQL Server instance is not valid

    Hi All,
    I am trying to install SCOM 2012 SP1 Reporting Server on a Windows Server 2012 running SQL Server 2012 SP1. The SQL Server also host instance for SCCM 2012 SP1 named SCCM, and not in clustered environment.
    For SCOM 2012 SP1, I choose SQL instance named SCOM. At first, I successfully installed SCCM 2012 SP1 Reporting Services. I have SSRS configured to use port 80 for both SCCM and SCOM instance, and not using SSL, with IP Address settings: All assigned. SQL
    Server Agent services on both instances are configured to started automatically. I could access http://scsqlserver/reports_SCCM and http://scsqlserver/reporserver_SCCM, but could not for http://scsqlserver/reports_SCOM and http://scsqlserver/reporserver_SCOM.

    I may continue Reporting Server installation that give no error mentioned above, if I choose SSRS instance named SCCM, but it is not supported for both SCCM and SCOM 2012 using same SSRS instance. Personal certificate for ConfigMgr SQL Server Authentication

  • Specified cast is not valid errors

    Hi all
    Sometimes, but not always, I'm finding that the Layer.Add, Cell.GlueTo and Window.Select methods throw errors similar to:
    Specified cast is not valid at System.StubHelpers.InterfaceMarshaler.ConvertToNative(Object objSrc, IntPtr itfMT, IntPtr classMT,
    Int32 flags) at Microsoft.Office.Interop.Visio.IVLayer.Add(Shape SheetObject, Int16 fPresMems)
    I'm using VB2010, Visio 2007 and currently testing on Windows XP 32 bit. The program is a stand-alone .exe program using Visio via .NET interop. The same program, with the same data can run several times without problem and then once this error
    has been thrown, the same error will be thrown every time until the Visio file is closed and re-opened.
    This VB2010 code was derived from a VB6 program which has been working fine for 2,000+ users over a period of about 15 years.
    Unfortunately I've not been able to replicate these problems in a small test program which is making the debugging process rather tedious and it's another aspect of this problem which is worrying and confusing me.
    The program is adding a 100 or so shapes from a stencil and gluing lines between them. I've tried playing with the settings of such properties as DeferRecalc, EventsEnabled, InhibitSelectChange, LiveDynamics, ShowChanges and UndoEnabled as I thought
    Visio might be having a problem updating the screen or allocating memory to the undo manager or something. I've also tried Application.DoEvents.
    I've re-written some of my code to avoid using Window.Select which I was using to select shapes to create groups. I guess I could also re-write the code to avoid using GlueTo, but I don't think I can always avoid using Layer.Add.
    Any thoughts or comments would be much appreciated.
    Best regards
    Roger Billsdon

    Hi Paul
    Many thanks for your reply and I hope all is well with you.
    I spent quite a lot of time trying to replicate the problem in a small test program created from scratch. All the offending methods (Window.Select, Layer.Add and Cell.GlueTo) worked fine in the test program, as indeed they often do in my main program.
    I carefully compared all the project references and everything else I could think of in both the test and my main program. I added loops in the test program so that it added many shapes, etc in an attempt to create some stress on the Visio UI, Undo manager,
    etc. Not being able to replicate the problem in a small test program is one aspect of this problem that is worrying and confusing me.
    The main program is quite large (I guess about 60,000 lines of code) and contains code for many other functions. An alternative approach would be for me to take a copy of the main program and try chopping chunks out to degenerate
    it into a small test program. However, at present I have a looming project deadline so I'm now putting my effort into recoding to eliminate the Window.Select, Cell.GlueTo and, where possible, Layer.Add method calls. Fortunately Visio provides alternatives
    which seem to be working. For example, rather than Cell.GlueTo I'm setting the relevant cell formulae and instead of Window.Select to form group, I'm creating a shape, converting it into a group and then dropping the other shapes into this group.
    Back in my VB6 programs I had some problems with select and group so I think this conversion is worthwhile, but I don't recall having had any problems with Cell.GlueTo or Layer.Add. Because I don't understand what's causing the problem I'm concerned that this
    re-coding work is just fixing the symptoms without actually getting at the root cause.
    In general I am finding rather more problems and performance issues with VB.NET Visio programs than I did over all the years I used VB3 and VB6 to program Visio.
    Best regards
    Roger

  • Outlook - The path specified for the file SharePoint Lists PST is not valid

    Some users are connecting via Citrix XenApp to Microsoft Server 2008 R2 and using Microsoft Office 2010 (14.0.7109.5000) SP2 MSO (14.0.7116.5000) - Microsoft Office Profressional Plus 2010 x86 version for their email.  Microsoft Exchange Server 2010
    SP2 for email.
    They are connected to Microsoft SharePoint 2010 SP2 August 2013 CU, via a SharePoint Calender; they have View permissions to the SharePoint calendar using Classic Mode permissions (Not Claims).  No permissions have / are changing on this SharePoint
    Calendar.  They connect to the SharePoint Calender to Outlook.
    When they open up their Office Outlook client, they receive an error "Outlook Data File" "The path specified for the file \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\SharePoint Lists.pst is not valid." OK
    They select OK and they get a window popping up with the option to try to find the SharePoint list.  "Create/Open Outlook Data File" (File name: 'SharePoint Lists') Open Cancel.  They select Cancel.
    They are returned to their Outlook client "email."
    As an I.T. administrator and SharePoint Administrator, I had a remote session with them, using Bomgar software and I Go to File Menu, Account Settings, SharePoint Lists Tab but there is no list there so go to the Data Files tab and see SharePoint Lists listed.
    Selecting it once, and clicking on Settings... button gives error message similar to the one above about PST not valid.
    STRANGE in that, when you do that!  You can go to Home tab, Calendar (Ctrl+2), and see Other Calendars and now the SharePoint calendar that was supposed to be there before, but was just "empty!"  There was only the Other Calendars
    option but it didn't have any "sub" calendar item.
    A similar issue is when Other Calendars is listed, and has a sub calendar listed, a SharePoint connected calendar.  You click on it and get "Microsoft Outlook" "The set of folders cannot be opened. The path specified for the file c:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\SharePoint
    Lists.pst is not valid."  OK
    Click OK and go through the above steps to get the same result.  After going into Account Settings, Data Files, checking on the Settings... button, and receiving the error message, again mentioned above, and the prompt to Create/Open Outlook Data File,
    thgen I can go back into Account Settings, Data Files, and double click on the SharePoint Lists and instead of an error, the Outlook Data File comes up, with Change Password... Compact Now, Comment, Name, Filename, Format (Outlook Data File) OK Cancel.
    Can go back to the Calendar (Ctrl+2) and Other Calendars, and the SharePoint Calendar "Sub calendar" will appear and operate as normal!  All was done was go into the Account settings and "check" on the "error."
    Tried to delete the SharePoint Lists and close out and add it and then go back in, and it "worked" for a few days.  I later turned on Logging and for over 24 hours it was on for the user.  The user was not on forever.
    In the Outlook Logging folder, from the users profile, I found many *.log files, firstrun, OPMLog, ETL files, one of which is 6MB, and some prof_001_outlook....txt files.  I clickedo n the SharePoint Lists.pst.log file 1KB
    It is listed here:

    They are using a CRM client 2011 (Server is CRM 2011 - on premise) as well as having other connected email accounts - managed accounts, like Accounting or HR, etc.
    What can I look for / provide for you all to assist?  I am almost ready to open a ticket with Microsoft to resolve this as it has been happening for multiple users for multiple weeks.
    When "I" go in, logged on as myself, I do NOT have this problem, however my account is not "old" in that I just logged onto the account domain\matthew.carter, where these users use their accounts day in and day out for weeks / months
    / (some years).
    Thank you!

    Did you post this in the SharePoint Section? Did you find a resolution for this?
    We are experiencing the same issue and have yet to find anything to resolve this issue.
    Regards, Daniel
    I ended up scouring his old posts looking for the other thread, and he did open one in the SharePoint forum:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/3dded85b-73ee-47dc-9609-6ee65f329983/outlook-the-path-specified-for-the-file-sharepoint-lists-pst-is-not-valid?forum=sharepointadminprevious#3dded85b-73ee-47dc-9609-6ee65f329983
    Unfortunately, what was marked as an "answer" by the moderators isn't really an answer at all to the problem. We are experiencing pretty much an identical issue with a calendar people are adding to Outlook 2010 from SharePoint 2010 within a XenApp
    server (using roaming profiles). However, we have not had the issue occur outside of XenApp yet.

  • Site behind load balancer - Key not valid for use in specified state

    Hi,
    I have created a sharepoint application page to access an active end point on ADFS and establish a fedauth session. All works well in single server. But when the page runs behind load balancer with 2 servers, it fails with key not valid for use in specified
    state exception. Stickiness is enabled on load balancer. verified that.
    I had made few changes to config file in microsoft.identitymodel section to accomodate adfs custom login. This included removing securitytokenhandlers and issuertokenresolvers as well. Is this impacting the encryption/decryption in anyway?
    Any pointers would help.
    Reference point for my application page : http://blog.helloitsliam.com/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=76

    Hi,
    As I understand, you encountered the error “Key not valid for use in specified state” when ADFS custom login.
    In order to run in Windows Azure Web Sites a Web application which uses WIF for handling authentication, you must change the default cookie protection method (DPAPI, not available on Windows Azure Web Sites) to something that will work in a farmed environment
    and with the IIS’ user profile load turned off.
    1. If you are using the Identity and Access Tools for VS2012, just go to the Configuration tab and check the box “Enable Web farm ready cookies”.
    2. If you want to do things by hand, add the following code snippet in your system.identitymodel/identityConfiguration element:
       <securityTokenHandlers>
         <add type="System.IdentityModel.Services.Tokens.MachineKeySessionSecurityTokenHandler,
                 System.IdentityModel.Services, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" />
          <remove type="System.IdentityModel.Tokens.SessionSecurityTokenHandler,
                System.IdentityModel, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" />
        </securityTokenHandlers>
    There is a similar case:

  • HLM installation error. Invalid values for --certificates_hostmap option. Specified key Hostname is not valid hdbhost

    Hi everyone,
    I'm installing SAP HANA for the first time and im having troubles when the unified installer gets to the installation of the lifecycle manager. Im getting the following error:
    15:08:33.996 - INFO:   Calling postCheck event handler
    15:08:33.996 - INFO:     Invalid values for --certificates_hostmap option. Specified key 'RCNHANA' is not valid hdbhost

    Can anyone help me
    Thanks

    Thanks Slds.
    I just re-ran the HLM package using the following procedure:
    1) download SAPHANALM06_0-10012745.SAR
    2) copy SAPHANALM06_0-10012745.SAR to the /tmp/hanainstdir/hlm_install
    3) Ensure SAPHOSTAGENT is above level 149, advisable to update it to the latest level. Level 153 till today.
    4) go to the extracted temp directory and run ./hdbinst
    Just click enter when prompt if you are running single Hana Database.
    SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager Installation kit detected.

    Options:
      SAP HANA system ID | Description

    Enter SAP HANA system ID [SID]:
    Root user password (SSH connectivity):
    Root user SSH key passphrase (SSH connectivity):
    Installation was successful. However, I noticed in the log that this time --certificates_hostmap option was not set to any value at all, but still installation went tru fine.
    Thanks

  • Specified cast is not valid. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo) - degradation of v11

    I have Sql management studio 2014 SP1 and im working with my Azure SQL Databases.
    Previously all my databases and servers were on Sql Server 11.0 and thing were working fine, until a couple of days ago; 1 database on a server started throwing the specified cast is not valid error when you try to use management studio to Script table as.....
    and today all (3) of my databases on (different) servers are throwing that error
    Earlier today I upgraded 1 of the servers to the latest azure sql database 12.0.2000.8 (it took a while since it can take up to 24 hours); and can verify that the same script table as... or any management studio function that will generate scripts, like
    Generate Scripts task does not throw this error.
    The issue with v11 started happening a few days ago and is now on all my v11 databases; management studio will not generate scripts.,  wanted to submit this as a bug., but there is no easier way to do so.

    I'm also running into this exact issue with V11 and SQL Server Management Studio -- table "Generate Create Script" fails with "Specified
    cast is not valid. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)". This just started happening recently with V11 and doesn't manifest with V12. I'm running SSMS with latest hotifxes (CU6 I believe). I don't have the option of an immediate move to V12.
