Set color on ase file format

Dear fellows
I would like to change color appereance in the 3d picture control as the program runs, how can i do that.
As far as i know in 3d picture control you can only change the color and alpha during making the object if you are using primitives.
But how to change the color after making the model (i.e. changing transformation properties).
And how do you set the color from the ASE format model. ( i also want to change it once the model has been loaded)
Thanks a lot.
-Just a student-

The ASE loader creates a single mesh.  You have a couple of choices how to do this.
1.  Turn the color binding off in the object that will own the mesh and change the material color on the object.
2.  Change the color array for the mesh.
Note: if your scene isn't lit you should only modify the color array.
Here is an example to demonstrate what I mean.
You can do similar things with the primitives (spheres, etc) by setting their colors via property nodes... If you are reading the geometry from an object, you will need to cast them to the right geometry type in order to do this.  Alternatively, you can just apply a material to the object as in the example provided.
I am trying to keep this somewhat brief, but if you have any questions, I would be glad to help or explain more.

  • Same logo printing different colors for different file formats?

I created a logo for a client who will be using it for some printed materials.  I provided the logo in 3 different file formats: EPS, JPEG and Tiff.
In INDesign and MS Word, the logo is printing a different color for the EPS vs the Jpeg/Tiff file types.  Is there something I'm missing?
I've even tried changing the color to something completely different and we are getting the same result.  There is STiLL a considerable difference between the Eps file and the other two files.

No the logo was created for print and I originally had used a pantone color but converted to CMYK.  The actual value is C69 M7 Y0 K0.  When my client inserts the eps file into her InDesign layout, it prints a bright aqua color and if she uses either the jpeg or tiff, it is a much different blue.  We've tried other colors because I was thinking it might just be the fact that it's a blue color... but the same thing happens to other colors. I am wondering if there is some sort of color management setting that is causing the eps to be different?

  • Applescript to read text file & set color of matching files in a folder

I am keen to find a way to process a file I have been given for a string and to check if that string exists as part of a filename in a folder on my disk.
If the string in the file list corresponds to the file name in the folder then I want to color the corresponding file red.
Can anyone suggest a way to do this?

'I am keen to find a way to process a file I have been given for a string; - ? Is this to translate to - you have a file, containing multiple file names? And if so, are each file names on a separate line?
My above questions are derived from the statement portion of - 'If the string in the file list corresponds to the file name ...'.
Assuming such, here is some starter code:
property tFolder : (((path to desktop folder from user domain) as string) & "untitled folder 2:") -- Provided folder path.
on run -- Notify user to drag a file onto the applet.
display dialog "Drag file onto applet, for further processing." default button "OK"
    end run
on open dItems -- Obtain a list of dragged-on items.
repeat with i in dItems -- Cycle through individual items
set fList to paragraphs of (read i)
    repeat with j in fList
with timeout of 0 seconds -- Extend default timetout to infinity.
tell application "Finder" -- Activate 'Finder' for processing of desired folders' contents.
try -- Capture any unwanted AppleScript errors.
-- Obtain a list of all files with the name stored in 'fName'.
set tFiles to (every file of entire contents of folder tFolder whose displayed name contains j)
-- or, use the line of code below (in place of the line of code above), if the complete file name, including file extension, is within the dragged file.
-- set tFiles to (every file of entire contents of folder tFolder whose displayed name is fName)
if ((count tFiles) > 0) then -- If one or file exists, proess the file(s).
repeat with k in tFiles -- Cycle through the list of located files.
set (label index of k) to 2 -- Set the 'label index' of located file to 'red'.
    end repeat
    end if
    end try
    end tell
    end timeout
    end repeat
    end repeat
    end open
Save the above code as an application.

  • .ase file

I created a logo in Illustrator CS4 and saved the swatch set as an .ase file to use with the other adobe products. When I went to load the ase file into Fireworks CS4 I can't seem to find it. How can I accomplish this?
I was looking thru the forums and see where you can use Kuler. But I already have the file/colors I need. How do I import them into Fireworks?
    Thanks

I don't have FW CS4, but in CS5 it's very simple and I would think it would work the same.
Did you check the options in the fly-out menu of the swatch panel?
Just select Replace Swatches and find the folder on your computer where you saved your .ase file.
If you aren't sure where you'r .ase file was saved to, perhaps AI was recalling a previous folder you were working from at the time of creating your logo document and you inadvertently saved it to an unexpected location. Try saving it again if necessary and just be conscious of the destination you choose to save your .ase file. There's no specific place it "needs" to reside, you could save it to your desktop if you want.

  • Can I view all the colors in an .ASE file?

I would like to import all of the colors in an .ase file to view them together in a grid as data for research I'm doing.  Is there a way to access all the colors in a palette at once and import them into a Photoshop, InDesign, or Illustrator file?  (there are hundreds)

As far as I understand it, the Script Render Swatch Legend might do what you want:

But probably not. In that case please explain further.

  • Kuler .ase file "unknown format" in Illustrator CS6

Please help, this is so frustrating.  I;m trying to use adobe kuler, but I have not found a way to make it useful other than to Facebook the darn swatches!!
It does not open as an .ase file in Adobe Illustrator.  I even opened the Illustrator extension and tried to look for my swatches (which are public) to no avail.
Will someone please help???   I really am terribly frustrated.  Kuler also will not match Pantone.
Maybe I just need to be pointed to a tutorial that explains what the dickens this program is actually for????!!!!!!

Thank you for your reply, Dave.
Working in Adobe Illustrator cs6.  I was just trying to import a theme into illustrator.   It took me about an hour to figure out that the name I gave the kuler theme was impeding me from searching for it in illustrator.  For some reason, my version finally opened the theme through the kuler extension.  Downloading the ".ase" file, Illustrator did not recognize the format.  Not sure why that is....
Thank you in advance for your assistance,

  • Check image details like resolution, dimensions, color mode, file format, file size and file name

I have 1000 images in a folder, i want to check their details like resolution, dimensions, color mode, file format, file size and file name into excel with nice user interface.
Pls help me, m just learning ABCD in VB.

The code in the file at the link below might give you a starting point. Firstly it gives you the opportunity to list all of the properties of a file type and then you can select the properties that you want and the second utility gives you the
opportunity to list the selected properties for all files in a selected folder.
Download and extract the file and open the file in Excel.
Click the first button List Meta Data for One File (Run first)
Navigate to and Select any ONE individual photo file. (Photo files because that is what you indicated you are working with.)
You will be presented with a list of the available properties for the file. Where the Item value is blank, that property is not recorded for the particular file. Different file types have different properties and it is also dependent on how the file
was created but generally if all of the files come from the same source then the same properties are recorded for all files from that source.
Now insert a Y in column D for all of the required properties. (Don't select any with the Item value blank)
Click the second button List Selected Meta Data for all Files in a Folder (Run after selecting the required properties).
Next select a folder where the files reside. (You might need to back up to the folder if dialog is blank because it will not show individual files because the code only allows Folders.)
You will be presented with a report listing all of the selected properties for all of the files in the selected folder.
The user interface is not that great but you can improve on that if you want to with a Userform as you get to know VBA a little better.
    Download the file from here.

  • 4096 Web Smart Color ASE file?

I am needing to update my swatches to the new "web smart" color palette and didn't want to manually plug and chug my way through all 4096 colors. Does anyone have an ASE file I can download from them or know where a download of this ASE file is being hosted?
Please, any help with this ASE file containing the 4096 web smart colors is greatly appreciated.
    /kyle

    kyle,
If this ASE file involves proprietary intellectual property, then no one here can legally give you access to it. If it is freely distributable, then a link to a legitimate source is OK, of course.

  • .ase file changes order of color list.

I created an .ase file in InDesign CC with a list of 20 colors in a particular order. When I Load Swatch into a new document the order of the list changes. Can I avoid this?
The list has one Pantone color but the rest have CMYK values and I have named each colour. The list change does not appear to be alpha-numerical.

Thanks Steve. I'm using CC 2014 and this solution works fine.
(I'm still not sure why the saved colours should change order when not grouped but, as this works I'll go with it).

  • Kuler Color .ase file

Downloaded from the Adobe Kuler website. How do I get this
    into Flash CS4 to use?
    Thanks.

    Hi Type,
In Flash CS4, the Kuler panel is in Window > Extensions. I
don't think there's a way to import the .ase file into flash's
Kuler panel. However, you can use the Kuler panel in Flash CS4 to
browse to the color theme you like and add it to the Color
    Swatches.

  • Best Hi Def File Format for PE 10 on a PC?

I am running Premiere Elements 10 on a PC, Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, two internal 1 TB Hard Drives, 16 gigs of RAM, with Blu Ray Burner drive. I have done a fair amount of video editing using PE 10 on this rig with standard def material, but now I hope to do some high def work. I plan to have some old family 16mm home movies transferred to hi-def media and do some minor editing (color / contrast correction and maybe some simple transition effects) and then burn the edited files to Blu ray disc.
I am all ready to send my 16mm footage off the the transfer house, but I need to know what would be the best file format for my set up. The formats they have available are DPX Image Sequence, TIFF Image Sequence, and Quicktime (either 422 HQ or 4444 HQ). I am assuming the preferred format would be either of the Quicktime files, and I have downloaded short (about 10 to 15 second) sample files in both 422 HQ and 4444 HQ and was able to import each into PE 10 with no problem and successfully do various edits on each.
But I have read a good number of posts on this and other forums from PC owners who are running Premiere Elements and have had problems either loading Quicktime 422 & 4444, or editing them once they were loaded into PE.
Can anyone comment on this for me? Basically, all I want to know is what Hi Def file format(s) I can reliably use on my computer with PE 10. I don't want to pay several hundred dollars (or possibly more) for a digital transfer from my 16mm footage that turns out to be useless to me.
    Rob McKay

    ATR -
Thanks for your very informative reply. I'm afraid the transfer house doesn't offer samples.
Since you think the ProRes 422 would be best for me, here is what I have done in my own tests:
    1) Downloaded short ProRes 422 HQ clips into files on my computer hard drive from several websites. The longest of these clips is 30 seconds.
    2) Using the "get media" tool in PE 10, I've brought these clips into PE 10.
    3) Dragged the clips into the project timeline. At first I got a popup message saying (and I have paraphrased this) the "file format is not supported by PE 10. Would you like the program to convert it to a format supported by PE 10?"  I clicked "yes" and the clip appeared in the timeline. Later on I stopped getting this popup message. I've no clue what format the program might be converting the ProRes 422 HQ files to.
    4) After I had a couple minutes of short clips in the timeline, I copied and pasted some of them over and over in the timeline until my entire video time was about 30 minutes in length. Reason for this was simply because I am trying to replicate as best I can what my file from the Transfer House will be like - not 2 minutes in length, but closer to 30 minutes.
    5) Did a few minor editing effects on the timeline of the sort I would be doing on my Transfer House file - contrast and color correction, time stretch /speed change, etc.
    6) Went to "Share" tab, clicked on "Disc - Burn to Blu Ray". In the Presets dropdown menu, I chose "H.264 1920x1080i NTSC Dolby" (Note - Only four choices appear. The one I chose, as well as "H.264 1440x1080i NTSC Dolby" and the same two again except in PAL Dolby.)
    7) Burned a BD-R of the project in Blu ray burner.
I was very pleased with the result - image was nice sharp quality, smooth moving (no dropped frames) and filled my 4 foot x 8 foot screen when played on my Blu Ray player through an Epson projector.

  • CS4 - Getting error when opening a .gif file - file-format module cannot parse the file.

I am getting this popup error when trying to open a .gif file:
"Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file."
This comes up every time I try to open a .gif file.  Even if I make a .gif file (like the image included in this post), save it and then try to open it again, I get the same error.  I tried reinstalling CS4, but the error is still there.  I have also done the reset on start-up and nothing.  Some have suggested that I open it in (Windows XP Pro) MS Paint and then save it again.  Did it and this does NOT work for me, either.
I know it's a Photoshop problem because I can see this file everywhere, except Photoshop.  It will open here, there and everywhere, except for Photoshop.
I've searched the Adobe Commmunity and it looks like no one has come up with a fix for this.  I'm just currious after 5 years with this problem, has there been a solution?
    Scott

  • Line Drawing best file format for import in InDesign

i was wondering what is  the accepted and recommended file format for files to be imported in InDesign. I was under the impression that AI files should be saved as EPS but I just read an article that says that Adobe's Dov  Isaacs said that eps will be shortly obsolete. What should I do. I work on curriculum that contains both photographs and line drawing and we use tiff for the former and eps for the latter. Most of our line drawing is done in AI. Howeverwe have a cartoonist that sends us files in jpg format. What would be the best file format for him and for us as we draw in AI?
    Article link: http://www.prepressure.com/library/file-formats/eps
The future of the EPS file format
EPS is rapidly becoming an outdated file format which is being  replaced by PDF just like PostScript itself is also being phased out and  replaced by PDF. Don’t just take my word on this. Here is what Dov  Isaacs from Adobe said in a discussion on a PrintPlanet forum about the  future of PostScript: “ …Adobe will continue to support EPS as a  legacy graphics format for import of non-color managed, opaque graphical  data into Adobe applications (such as InDesign and Illustrator).  Although we certain do not recommend that new graphical content be  stored in EPS format (except to satisfy the need to import data into  page layout programs that aren’t quite PDF-centric — no need to mention  names here!), our user base should feel comfortable that there is no  need to worry about a need to convert their very sizable libraries of  EPS-based graphic assets.”

Yes, I drag the AI file in.
If after it's in place I need to change I can just right click and chose edit original make the changes and save and the illustration in inDesign will reflect the changes.
On the other hand I can make changes to the original and all iterations of the file will automatically update, say if I used the illustration in several documents.
As an example I had completed a set of documents for a new company, i.e., biz cards, brochures, product labeling, stationery, etc. and in their wisdom they decided to make changes in their logo, which, of course, is on everything. I opened the AI file with the logo made the changes saved and all the documents then reflected the changes. The only caveat to do this seamlessly is to make sure that your file logo size is the same as the original or you might have to tweak placement in the other documents
It is this interoperability that to me makes the Creative Suite so much more than the sum of their parts.

  • How to use the .ase files?

As a test I imported a few Kuler .ase files into Illustrator
    CS2.
They appear to be spot RGB colors all labelled Unnamed Global
Color, which clash when I drag in a second lot.
I made 2 files, one set to RGB, the other to CMYK.
In the RGB file the colors came in close to the specification
in Kuler. One color was off by 1 in one value.
In the CMYK file the colors seem to be converting from the
RGB because the specs were nothing like that in Kuler, although the
    appearance was similar.
Not very useful because I really dislike specifications using
CMYK values set to 2 decimal places. I like clean specs because
that way I can make sensible adjustments and remember which is
    which.
These are the issues as I see them.
    1. Importing the color schemes via Menu > Window >
Swatches > Popup menu > Open Swatch Library > Popup menu
    > Other Library... > Dialog box > Hunt for file is more
than a bit tedious:– How about drag & drop? Works in
    Cocoa apps.
    2. Having them come in as Unnamed Global Color is unhelpful.
    3. Having them clash because they all have the same name is
    further unhelpful.
    4. Being RGB and dropping the CMYK values is more than
unhelpful, it is almost crippling for a print designer.
What exact purpose are these .ase files serving?
I had created my own system of a bar of named colors, made in
Illustrator in both CYyK and RGB then dragged into wherever
required. That seems to be more practical than these .ase files.
    Am I missing something?

    1) Um, drag and drop has nothing to do with Cocoa (which
tends to make apps that use it slow and buggy).
    2) is probably a bug or oversite in Kuler
    3) That's a direct result of 2 and the way Illustrator works,
    not a separate problem.
    4) They have to have some color model, and it is RGB.
Then they get converted to whatever colorspace you're using
for your CMYK documents. The only thing "crippling" is if you
happen to pick colors that are out of gamut for your CMYK
    colorspace.
ASE files are swatch files that all of the Adobe CS2
applications can read and write. They are serving that purpose well
(when Kuler doesn't hit the ase.xml bug).
