Set run as administrator

Hi, I would like to know how to let the setup run as administrator (first launch) after install. Currently i set the app.manifest execution level to requireAdministrator but it will prompt run as administrator message every time i launch the software.

As the UAC always prompt each time open the application, so i think it was quite annoying.
EDIT: You can not have a program run with admin privileges for a user that does not have admin privileges without that user providing an admin user name and password in a UAC prompt no matter what.
Microsoft has Task Scheduler for providing installed applications (or perhaps a browsed .exe) the ability to run with highest privileges afforded a user. Which is why some apps a user with admin privileges uses will always launch in admin mode
without a UAC prompt like Task Scheduler does.
Although the .exe to be used may require the manifest set appropriately also so the app asks for admin privileges when it launches then task manager perhaps allocates that, I don't remember.
Task Scheduler can be programmatically changed by an app also if the app is running with admin capabilities.
I'm not going to display any code to do anything with task manager as I write in VB. And your question is not in a code forum. Also you should be able to find other links on how to use task manager too.

Select the Compatibility tab and click Change Settings For All Users.
Select Run This Program As Administrator. Click Apply, and then click OK.
Complete these steps for each Flash Media Server service.

    Hi,
    Thanks for using FMS4.
    When you said "
I have stopped and restarted service so many time, rebooted server at least twice. "
How did you make sure that the services are restarted ? Probably they have not yet started at all ? You need to have admin privileges to start/stop the FMS services. Please make sure you have the admin rights for the logged in user.
Open a command prompt as admin, and run the following commands :
    net start fms
    net start fmsadmin.

  • Bridge CS6 Insists on Running as Administrator - PC

Everything worked so well in CS5 Extended......
    Windows 7 Pro 64 bit - MSI 990FXA-GD80 Motherboard - AMD Phenom II X6 1100T CPU - nVideo GTX550ti Video
Okay, I have CS6 running on an SSD.  Initially with CS6 Beta I found I had to run as Administrator.  I eventually discovered how to run as a user by going into Preferences / Performance and setting my scratch disk to my hard drive.
So now I have the CS6 release.  I deleted CS6 Beta as instructed and followed directions for the install.  CS6 works fine except for the bugs that I reported in the beta forum .  My problem is now that Bridge insists on running as Administrator.  If I try and run it as a user, it comes up and quits immediately.  It doesn't make a wisp of difference where I set my Cache file, SSD or hard drive.  I can even deal with that, however now I can't start Bridge from Photoshop!  I click on File / Browse in Bridge and nothing happens.  If I start Bridge then go to Photoshop and click on File / Browse in Bridge, still nothing happens.  I have to manually switch to the Bridge window.
    Help!!
    Gerry

I think the point of trying to help people find workarounds is that no one here save for the Adobe folks know when they're likely to release that fix.

it seems the CS6 Beta was released totally as a marketing ploy and not at all to allow us to work with it and report bugs.
When was the Photoshop CS6 beta first made available?  The date I recall is March 22, 2012, and that software was actually built from sources on March 5, near as I can tell.
For reference, note the build dates on the files installed as part of the Photoshop CS6 release:
Software preparation for release is normally a pipeline, with engineers working on code, build teams building code into executables and installers, system testers testing builds, beta testers testing potential releases, and customers downloading released code all simultaneously.
I suspect Adobe was expecting to be able to release the Photoshop CS6 they already had built by the time the beta test started, unless any real "show stopper" bugs were found.  Bottom line I think is that we can assume none of the customer-reported bugs during the public beta were gauged "show stoppers".  I'm pretty sure not everyone sees the crash you're seeing.
There's always pressure to get a release out, even if it's not perfect, as long as some customers can derive value from it...  Proceeds from sales can keep the lights on at the factory while the first update is prepared.
We only hope that update makes everything better without making anything worse.

  • Why does Photoshop CS5 require me to run as Administrator?

I just installed a fresh copy of CS5 64 bit Extended Student and Teacher edition obtained direct from Adobe.
It installed fine and for the first ten or so times I used it it started without any difficulty.  This morning it is refusing to start with an error message "could not open scratch file because the file is locked or you do not have the necessary access priveliges'.
(The first thing this morning it installed some updates - don't know if that has a bearing on the problem)
I CAN start it if I right click and 'run as administrator', but then the UAC dialog box comes up asking me to allow changes to my computer.
I have only on account, and it is an administrator.
I installed CS5 while logged in as administrator
I am logged in as administrator when I try to run it
If I look at the shortcut, it appears I have full access.
I changed my scratch disk location so it is not on my boot drive.
I believe I have the latest updates
I am running WIndows 7 64 bit, and the CS5 install was the 64 bit version.
While this may be a WIndows 7 issue, I don't understand why, if I am logged in as administrator CS5 won't start without the UAC nag dialog box. Is is something to do with it being the student edition?
    Thanks in advance,
    Henry

Welcome to the joy of Windows UAC.
Even though you are logged-on using an account in the Administrators group, you are not normally running applications as an Administrator.
Therefore, if your permissions aren't set up properly to allow read-write access to the root folder on your scratch drive, Photoshop will not be able to access that folder.

  • "Run as Administrator" not Elevating/Asking for Password properly

I've got a weird issue on a Windows 7 x64 Professional that was installed and distributed (17 times) by someone else. All request to run with Elevated Rights are completely ignored.
When I try to run Programm Elevated with Rightclick->"Run as Administrator" they are instead started as the User I am currently logged in as. I have to manually relog (logout, login) as Administrator in order to do stuff I normally would do with
    "Run as Admin".
There is no UAC question, no Dialog to input the Admins Password/Select the user, no automatic elevation - it just executes as the current user, even if that is a Standart User.
If any process would normally ask for elevated rights (anything marked with the Admin Right Shield thingy in Windows Explorer) it instead runs as normal user and (of course) runs into lack of rights down the road, sooner or later.
Haven't checked how Programms with a Manifest that requires Elevation behave yet, but I guess it is the same.
    Parts that might be relevant:
The UAC is disabeled (set to not ask anything/lowest setting)
Two accounts: Admin Type account named "sheriff" (instead of default name) and Standart User Type account "User". The Guest account is disabeled.
While UAC is off, unless I am very mistaken "Run as Administrator" should still work while logged in as a limited Standart User type. After all it has been around a lot longer then the UAC.
Let's talk about MVVM: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wpf/thread/b1a8bf14-4acd-4d77-9df8-bdb95b02dbe2 Please mark post as helpfull and answers respectively.

Was a while since I posted here and I think I understand the problem a lot better now. Couldn't actually solve my problem (this would require setting the UAC back online wich is explicitly not wanted), but it still might be helpfull for others:
Elevating as Adminsitrator (under Vista and later) needs two Components:
runas - a Commandline Command that has been around since XP and whose sole purpose is to start Programms under other rights then the current user.
In order for it to work the "Secundary Login" Windows Service must be running during Login of the current user. Enabling it or disabling it after a login will have no effect.
And it will fail silently (not telling you it failed).
UAC - normally you need it to surpress the Admin aspect. In my case it was not neded for that from a Security Standpoint. What I have here was a suiteable set of Credentials for Windows XP style Security: limited normal User, Administrator with non-standart
    name and password.
What I would have needed from the UAC (and get on all the other Computers where it is online but we still have limited users) was it's ability to detect wich User to elevate too. The UAC is needed to "Find the Admin". And it cannot do that if set to "not inform".
Under XP the "Run as"-Explorer Option was designed to let you select the user. Always.
Under Vista, 7 and 8 it's renamed "Run as Adminsitrator" and the UAC autodetects wich user to Elevate towards. If the UAC is not running the menu Explorer Context Menu Option, the Runas Modifier for .NET Process and Manifests have no idea wich Usercontext they
should run under. And never even try to elevate.
The only way to elevate on such Computers is to relog as Administrator or use Runas on Command Line with explicit naming of the User you want to use.

  • Why does 'run as Administrator' fix my Silver Efex problem?

I have had a problem with the Nik Software Silver Efex Pro (SEP) plugin running extremely slowly, but only at certain times. It's been pretty good for the past few months, but it suddenly took a nose-dive a few days ago. It takes ages to load the presets and to process the image in Photoshop once I have made my selections in SEP. I just thought that as SEP is a direct plugin to CS6 Photoshop then perhaps it's something to do with the way Photoshop itself runs. I switched the running of Photoshop to 'Run as administrator' (just right click the program in the start menu and go to compatability tab) and SEP now runs extremely fast. No problems at all. I also think (but have no way of measuring it) that Photoshop is running faster in general. Does anyone know why running as Admin should make such a difference? Are there any problems in running in Admin mode?
I run Norton Internet Security, and thought that as I'm now OK in Admin mode it might be a virus-checker problem, and running in Admin mode was getting around the problem. I do have both versions of Photoshop (32 and 64 bit) incuded to 'allow' access in Norton.
Here is my system config. My PC runs very well in all other respects.

I'm not saying Norton is your problem, but I haven't heard good things about Norton software in a long time, unfortunately.
I always recommend Avast! antivirus to people.  The free version is very good in itself, and they offer a more comprehensive Internet Security version as well.
I don't know how technically-oriented you are, but if you do understand how things work fairly well and have taken measures and adopted good practices to avoid running malware, there is the possibility of just shutting off UAC (MIcrosoft User Account Control) if its operation continually gets in the way of your completing your work.  Typically, most people just get in the habit of confirming whatever prompts come up anyway, which defeats most of the protection UAC can afford.

The "run as pop-up box says: You may not nave the necessary permissions to use all the features of the program you are about to run. You may run this program as a different user or continue to run the program as the current user. Un-filled circle:Current User (HpDV6)Annie Erker. Filled-in circle:Run this program as the following user: User Name(prepopulated):Administrator. Password; OK; cancel

Sounds like then maybe a "friend" got hold of your phone and set a SIM card password.  Not much you can do if that is the case if you do not know the password except go to your carrier and request a new SIM card.

  • Windows 7 Running as Administrator & Allow Program to Make Changes Popup

Before someone tells me this question is posted elsewhere; I already know that. I've spent hours trying to figure this out. and have yet to find any answers that have helped.
The only way I can save presets is to run a program (let's say Photoshop) as Administrator (in Windows 7). If - I Run as Administrator - then - I get the UAC popup asking me if I want to allow Photoshop to make changes to my computer. I cannot tell you how annoying this is. I keep having to go back and forth between setting programs to Run as Administrator everytime I want to work with presets, and then I have to go back to Compatability and set the program to Not Run as Administrator, in order to stop getting that annoying UAC popup. I do not want to turn off my UAC! Perhaps the problem is in the location where I am storing my files. My files are in C:\myName rather than in C:\Users\myName. My Creative Cloud Programs were installed in C:\Program Files\Adobe (by default). myName is set as the Administrator Account in Windows.
Note: I can save the presets at other locations on my computer, just not in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Program Name\Presets\Gradients\(or whatever) which is where they need to be.
    Please Advise.

If I try to open Adobe by itself, without attaching it to a specific file, same thing- still got command.
But I can add this:  Somehow awhile back I found the solution on line (if I recall, it was not in an Adobe forum). Kicking myself for not posting here. So I had it working, but then I recently had to reinstall the program and it went back to square one. However,  I instructed the program to open with an previous version (Right click- properties - previous version) and I know can open again without getting that annoying command. Problem is I stll can't remember how I got it that way the first time. I was thinking it may have been tied in with making it compatible to an earlier version, but I just checked Properties again, and it says Windows 7, so that is not changing anything. I am sorry. I have searched and seached again to find that earlier solution, but now I can't find it! If anyone else can figure it out, please post to save the next person a bunch of time. I have spent hours on this already, searching, reading, tweaking.

  • CS6 Has to Run as Administrator - SOLVED!!

A number of us have had problems with CS6 Beta insisting on running with administrative priviliges.  So far, I don't see a solution listed.
My case seems to be the same as others.  We are booting from an SSD on which Windows is loaded.  We also have a second drive of the old mechanical sort .  All programs are loaded on this drive.
Okay, if that's your situation, read on....  My boot SSD is the C: drive and my hard drive is D:.  When I installed CS6 Beta, it refused to run until I set it to run as administrator.
I went into Edit -> Settings -> Performance and on the Scratch disk setting, I checked D: and unchecked C:.  Aha!  That'll fix it.  BUT IT DIDN'T!!  CS6 still insisted on Administrative priviliges!!
Tonight I went back into the Performance settings and noticed something.  You can change the order of the drives.  Since the C: drive was unchecked, I naturally assumed Photoshop would skip over it.  THAT ASSUMPTION IS WRONG!!
Just for the heck of it, I changed the order of the drives by highlighting the C: drive then going to the right and clicking the down arrow.  I then OK'ed that setting, went out of Photoshop and brought up Explorer where I unchecked "Run as Administrator" for Photoshop.exe.  Then I rebooted.  When I brought up CS6, IT WORKED!!  It no longer needed to run as Admin!
    Fix it, Adobe!

  • Under regular user account Firefox closes its windown right after opening it, but this does not occur when run from administrator account.

I don't have the problem on Vista or XP. I have no problems when I am logged on as administrator. When logged on as a regular user some or all of the Firefox windows will open and then immediately close. It does not help to run as administrator or set other compatability options. I also see this on Thunderbird. I have not seen this problem on any of my other software.

  • Can someone explain how to set up an administrator account so that I can have my phone and my daughters have separate apple ids?

I mistakenly updated to the latest version of iOS and ever since then I can send messages to my daughter and I receive them but she does not.  She has an iphone also and her phone is under my apple id also.  Someone told me that I could set up an Administrator Account so that she can still be under my account but she has her own ID and that will fix the problem with text/imessages.  I can't find anything on the website that explains how to do that.  Can someone explain that to me?
    Thanks!

I'm still not clear on what you are trying to accomplish. If you have an iPhone and she does as well you should have your own Apple IDs.
If you want to pay for any purchases she makes with her phone as far as apps/music goes than that is what Family sharing is for.
In my case my Wife and I are setup for family sharing. When she purchases music/apps it charges my credit card. This setup also allows me to share my past music/app purchases with her and vice versa.
