Set up cisco SGE2010 combined with Dell 6248 switch

Hi, I have currently a Dell powerconnect 6248 switch combined with a netgear UTM router. I have a basic understanding on how things should work but I don't have the knowledge to apply it as I'm new to setting up vlan and the person before me did the basic configuration like this:
defined 5 VLAN in the netgear router
defined the same 5 VLAN in the dell 6248
connected the dell switch to the netgear router via a trunk port.
Right now all the inter vlan traffic pass thru the netgear router as the dell switch as a trunk port connected to the netgear box who then give dhcp and set himself as the default inter vlan route. I would like to stop that since I would like the cisco switch to handle all the vlan routing for both switch and those switch to send their dhcp request to my win2k8 server.
I did set the sge2010 in layer 3 mode from the small business telnet interface. I then setup the same 5 vlan in the cisco switch.
If I understand this well I need to define an IP address for each vlan interface on the cisco switch for it to be able to route things, I have set them all as x.x.x.3 (x.x1.3 vlan 1, x.x.2.3 vlan2, etc) Then I need both swtich to forward all dhcp request to my dhcp box wich is in vlan 2. My DHCP server will have 5 range of IP address to hand out. my server are connected directly to the dell switch on vlan 2. I have set up a port in the dell switch in trunk mode and did the same thing in the cisco switch and connected them togheter to send all vlan packet. The current setup doesn't work so I need some help to finalize that setup so that everything works.
If you need detail that I might have forgot to mention I wll gladly provide them.
Thanks !

For future reference, I finally succeeded in setting up everything the way I wanted it to be. I enabled layer 3 routing on the sge2010 switch, defined IP for each vlan interface, defined DHCP scope with vlan interface ip as the gateway. Added the ip-helper ip of the dhcp server on the sge2010, I defined 1 of the port on the cisco to trunk mode and added all vlan to it. I then defined all the same vlan on the Dell swith, added the ip helper address of the dhcp server for each vlan on the dell switch, defined a port on the dell swith in trunk mode and added all the vlan to it, connected both swith with an ethernet cable via the trunk port on each side and voilà all is working good. I finally had to define a static route in the cisco switch of 0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0 with the ip of my internet firewall to gain internet access on both switch.

  • Connecting 3560 with Dell 6248 for Storage Migration

I am looking at an old test and dev virtual infrastructure configuration that was set up with a 1GB Linksys Switch and a Dell 6248 Switch (attached pic is a representation).
The reason given for the Linksys in the config is it was the only 1GB switch available at the time when the SAN had to be installed and there were no more available ports on the 6248.Running Dell Dpack reports show latency issues when migrating from an EqualLogic Volume to a MD3200 volume and from the MD3200 to Md3200 volumes (on the order of 30-45 minutes for a 20GB VM). Migrating from EqualLogic volumes to EqualLogic volumes is in seconds.
I think the Linksys is the issue as does our Dell reps. We are looking at replacing the Linksys with a Cisco or another L2/L3.
I have a Cisco 3560 installed but am not familiar with configuration. I downloaded the Cisco Network Assistant (CNA) in order to configure the switch into the environment via a web browser. As noted in the infrastructure pic, the SAN traffic is isolated to VLAN 10 on the Dell Switch. In the second pic, I show the CNA and I am setting up a VLAN 10 on the Cisco switch and then want to connect the Md3200 to the Cisco which will be connected to VLAN 10 on the Dell Switch for access to an EqualLogic SAN
I am not sure I have the correct menu setting in the CNA for setting up VLAN 10 or if this is the best option?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I have several E6420, O3010 and since a week also some E7440 and E7240 on site.
I never had issues using the current Dell PE package for MDT.
At the moment my PE contains only the drivers from the Dell PE 3.0 package (WinPE3.0-Drivers-A13-D67JC)
and all my systems mentioned abobe have no issues connecting to the deployment share.
(btw: I have also some older E6400, E6410 and O390 I do no longer support, they
are supported by the pack Dell-WinPE-Drivers-A05.CAB according
to the Dell site, but I just started a deplymenst on a E6410 and is is also workign with just the latest PE pack)
    I'd
suggest you start over with your deplyoment share using at least MDT2012 Update 1.
Create a folder "PE" under "Out-of-Box Drivers" and extract latest Dell PE pack and import he drivers there
Create a selection profile e.g. "PE Drivers" and include just the "PE" folder created above
When configuring the Windows PE  settings of your deployment share select "PE
Drivers" selection profile for the driver injection in the "Drivers and Patches" to keep the PE image free of not needed drives.

  • Nexus 1K VEM module shutdown (with DELL BLADE server)

    Hello, This is Vince.
I am doing  one of PoC with important customer.
Can anyone help me to explain what the problem is?
I have been found couples of strange situation in a Nexus 1000V with DELL BLADE server)
Actually, Network diagram is like below.
I installed each two Vsphere Esxi on the Dell Blade server.
As Diagram shows each server is connected to Cisco N5K via M8024 Dell Blade Switch.
    - two N1KV VM are installed on the Esxi. (of course as Primary and Secondary)
    - N5K is connected to M8024 in vPC.
    - VSM and VEM are checking each other via Layer3 control interface.
    - the way of uplink's port-profile port channel LB is mac pinning.

If I move the Primary N1KV on the module 3 to the another Esxi of the module 4, VEM will be shutdown suddenly.

If I wanna make it works again then I have to do two things.
First of all, It should be selected on the Source MAC Check the way of vSwitch's Load balance.
(Port ID check is the default)
Second of all, the the order of Switch's fail over is very important.
If I change this order then VEM will be off in very soon.
Here you go, the screen capture file of These option. (you may not understand these Korean letters.)
In my opinion, the main problem is the link part between Esxi and M8024.
As you saw, Each Esxi is connected to two M8024 Dell Blade switches separately.
I saw the manual for the way N1K's uplink Load balance.
Even though there are 16 different port-channel LB way,
but It should be used only the way of src-mac  If there is no supporting port-channel option in the upstreaming switches.
But I don't know exactly why this situation happened.
Can anyone help me how I make it works better.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Vince

There's not enough information to determine the reason by those two outputs alone.  All those commands tell us is the VSM is removing/attaching the VEM.
The normal cause for the VEM to flap is a problem with the Control VLAN communication.  The loss of 6 consecutive heart beats will cause the VEM to detach from the VSM.  We need to isolate the reason why.
-Which version of 1000v & ESX?
-Are multiple VEMs affected or just one?
-Are the VSM's interfaces hosted on the DVS or vSwitch?
-What is the network topology between the VEM and VSM (primarily the control VLAN)
-Do you have the Cisco SR # I can take a look into it.  TAC is your best course of action for an issue like this.  There will likely need to be live troubleshooting into your network environment to determine the cause.

  • Urgent-- could cisco uc320 work with dumb switch ? how to configure

could cisco uc320 work with dumb poe switch, with its voice vlan alway in 100, I can't change it, and my phone can not find the pbx through the switch, if it can, how can I configure it.

    Hi Rex,
If the switch is unmanaged the 802.1q (tagged) ethernet frames typically pass right through the switch as if the phone was directly connected to the UC320W.  In this case both voice VLAN works and data VLAN. I would guess that if a switch has PoE that it is a managed switch though.  If it is a managed switch you will need to configure ports, vlans, and possibly CDP passthrough.

  • Set my wifes account up with mine.  Now all our data combines.  How do I set up an account just for her so we don't share all our contacts and such??

Set my wifes account up with mine.  Now all our data combines.  How do we set up her own account so we don't share all contacts and such??

There is only one solution. Each user must have their own separate user account. All of their respective data would be contained in their separate user accounts. This also means each will have a separate iTunes Library. If you all use the same third-party apps, then each will have to purchase their own copies under their own Apple IDs. Some data sharing is possible. See:

  • Challenge: Spanning Tree Control Between 2 links from Switch DELL M6220 to 2 links towards 2 switches CISCO 3750 connected with an stack (behavior like one switch for redundancy)

    Hello,
I have an Spanning tree problem when i conect  2 links from Switch DELL M6220 (there are blades to virtual machines too) to 2 links towards 2 switches CISCO 3750 connected with an stack (behavior  like one switch  for redundancy, with one IP of management)
In dell virtual machine is Spanning tree rapid stp, and in 3750 is Spanning tree mode pvst, cisco says that this is not important, only is longer time to create the tree.
I dont know but do you like this solutions i want to try on sunday?:
Could Spanning tree needs to work to send one native vlan to negociate the bdpus? switchport trunk native vlan 250
Is it better to put spanning-tree guard root in both 3750 in the ports to mitigate DELL to be root in Spanning Tree?
Is it better to put spanning- tree port-priority in the ports of Swicht Dell?
¿could you help me to control the root? ¿Do you think its better another solution? thanks!

Stephen Spark is right - your best alternative is to use a simultaneous dual band wireless router like the AirPort Extreme. Your Cisco Linksys2000 is not a dual band router, meaning that it will be constrained to operate at the slowest speed of all the devices on your network.
The AirPort Extreme's dual networks will support all your 802.11n devices as well as all your 802.11b/g devices on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies simultaneously.

  • OS 10 Server DHCP with Dell Switches

We have a strange DHCP assignment lag that shows-up by machines taking a long time to get an IP address, sometimes as long as 20 seconds. As you can imagine, this causes all sorts of problems.
When we bypass our Dell Switch (PowerConnect 6248) the problem disappears.
We are running 10.5.8 on the latest Intel Xserve.

Thanks to both of you, faulty switch has not even crossed my mind, but I will be call dell tech support today.
I did check the Dell forums, most everyone has difficulty passing DHCP between their VLANs. We have the most basic set-up with a single LAG configured.
I'll see what Dell support has to say. I was hoping others were using OSX servers with Dell switches and maybe seeing this too.
I fear calling Dell and telling them that we are using Apple equipment, I tire of support people either not knowing about Apple technology or stating that it's simply not supported. I am sure we all deal with the anti-Apple bias and you know what I mean.

  • Cisco ATA 187 with BT 6250 call transfer issue

    Hello,
I am currently having issues configuring Cisco ATA 187 with BT 6250 DECT phones. I need to make the call transfer work. I have tested the ATA with another box standard analogue phones where when we press the Recall button we get a 2nd dial tone and then can transfer the call.
there is an R button on the BT 6250 but it doesnt give a secondary dial tone.
just wondering will there be some secret key combination for that!!
I don't see a lot of setting in the ATA for it.
any help will be very appreciated.
    Thanks
    A

The easiest way would be to create a route pattern in CUCM that does not include the 9, and then adds it in prior to sending it to the gateway. This way you won't have to create another dial-peer in the gateway. I would also recommend putting the new pattern(s) in a partition that is only searched by the ATA/credit card machine's CSS.
If they are able to dial both 7 and 10 digit numbers, you will need route patterns for each:
         example: [2-9]xxxxxx & 1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx
then under 'Called Party Transformations' prepend a 9

  • Issue with language specific characters combined with AD-Logon to BO platform and client tools

We are using SSO via Win AD to logon to BO-Launchpad. Generally this is working which means for Launch Pad no manual log on is needed. But  this is not working for users which have language specific letters in their AD name (e.g. öäüéèê...).
What we have tried up to now:
If the AD-User name is Test-BÖ the log on is working with the user name Test-BO with logon type AD
If the logon Type "SAP" is used than it is possible to use the name Test-BÖ as the username
Generally it is no problem in AD to use language specific letters (which means it is possible to e.g. log on to Windows with the user Test-BÖ)
It is possible to read out the AD attributes from BO side and add them to the user. Which means in the user attributes the AD name Test-BÖ is shown via automatic import from AD. So it's not the problem that the character does not reach BO.
I have opened a ticket concerning that. SAP 1th level support is telling me that this is not a BO problem. They say it is a problem of Tomcat. I don't believe that because the log on with authentification type SAP is working.
I have set up the same combination (AD User Test-BÖ with SAP User Test-BÖ) as a single sign on authentification in SAP BW and there it is working without problems.
Which leads me to the conlusion: It is not a problem of AD. It is something which is connected to the BO platform but only combined with logon type AD because SAP Logon is working with language specific characters.

I have found this article with BO support:
You cannot add a user name or an object name that only differs by a character with a diacritic mark
Basically this means AD stores the country specific letters as a base letter internally. Which means that if you have created a user with a country specific letter in the name you can also logon with the Base letter to Windows.
SAP-GUI and Windows are maybe replacing the country specific letters by the base letter. Due to that SSO is working. BO seems not to be able to do that. Up to now the supporter from BO is telling me that this is not a BO problem.
Seems to be magic that the colleagues of SAP-GUI are able to to it.

  • Yosemite System Crashes on Boot with Dell U2713HM

Previously under Mavericks I had no issue with a Dell U2713HM monitor and my 'non-stock' NVidia card.  (The reason I'm using the video card I am is because the stock ATI card (ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT) is known do fry itself which I discovered after replacing it with an identical card and having the 2nd one fry itself after a year.  I did a lot of research and settle don the card I now have because others had reported success with it.  It worked fine for nearly a year until updating to Yosemite.)
After upgrading to Yosemite my system went into an infinite reboot loop on startup.  On a hunch, I swapped out my U2713HM for an old 17" monitor and was able to boot.  I can't even have the U2713HM plugged in/turned off using the second port on the card without the system crashing.  If I get the system booted using the 17", I can then plug in/turn on the U2713HM and set the resolution - at that point I can (sometimes) boot but it will then crash on shutdown triggering an automatic restart.
Is anyone having any success with a U2713HM, and especially with an NVidia card?  The only option I haven't tried is a completely fresh, clean install.  Once the system boots, I get the dialog that it was restarted because of an issue and can view part of the dump info that will be sent to Apple -> that clearly indicates the issue is with the kernel/NVidia driver somewhere.
System specs:  Mac Pro (Early 2008) with an NVidia GeForce GTX 650 1024MB card installed running Yosemite (OS X 10.10)

My mac mini (late 2012, Yosemite installed) doesn't start with Dell U2713HM if the USB cable of the monitor is connected.
No problems if I connect the usb-cable after successful startup. Also the usb-hub of the Dell is working fine then.

  • Using mod_alias in combination with dispatcher

    Hi all,
In the example dispatcher configuration there is a setting called DispatcherDeclineRoot which has a comment saying: if turned to 1, request to / are not handled by the dispatcher, use the mod_alias then for the correct mapping.  Can anyone explain how to use mod_alias in combination with the dispatcher module?  For example, how can I configure it to serve static content for a specific alias and go to CQ for other requests?  Can someone provide an example configuration?
    Many thanks,
    Jan

    Hi,
It still doesn't quite work the way I want it to...  Indeed, when you deny it in the dispatcher config, apache is trying to serve it.  However, apache is looking for the file under /var/www/html which is the docroot configured in the dispatcher config.  But my files are somewhere else, and there's an Alias defined for this in my apache config file.  For some reason apache is not using this alias definition, the dispatcher docroot setting seems to be taking precedence.  I tried several of the dispatcher settings (like DispatcherDeclineRoot and DispatcherUseProcessedURL) but to no avail.  The reason why I'm not just putting my static files under /var/www/html is because I don't want them to get mixed up with the CQ cache.  I want to be able to clear everything in the cache without touching these files I want to serve statically.
    Any thoughts?

  • Using servlet in combination with public_html subfolders

    Hi,
I'm fairly new to servlet and jsp technology. Up to this point I only really used PHP for developing dynamic web content. But since I have finally been working more with Java I want to start using Java for my web needs as well. So I've started with servlets and am currently exploring servlet filters. Things started out to go pretty smooth but now I've run into some problems.
What I'm building now is a servlet filter that will check if the user already has a session. If the user doesn't have one the user should be redirected to a login page. Getting this logic to work hasn't been the problem. My problem started when I wanted to place .jsp files in a subfolder.
First of all, I wasn't able to create a subfolder from JDev 10.1.3 so I had to this through the file system (added a subfolder in the public_html folder).
Then when I tried to implement the filter I had a hard time getting the jsp pages and the servlets to work together. This is my setup:
I have a loginservlet that handles the login post request and sets the session if all is ok.
I have both the welcome.jsp and login.jsp in a subfolder called "app".
Then I have a servlet filter.
When trying to access the welcome.jsp the filter succesfully redirects the request to the login.jsp. But from here things go wrong. First, the login page has problems retrieving the css stylesheet. And when it submits the form it doesn't seem to process correctly since it doesn't move on to the welcome.jsp.
Can someone point in the direction of some sort of guide on how to incorporate subfolders for jsp pages in combination with servlets? And is creating subfolders in any way possible from JDeveloper?

What kind of URL do you use to access the css files etc. from your jsp? Your URL needs to follow the directory structure, so you may need e.g. "../css/style.css"
Also make sure all your files are imported into jdev, since files that aren't won't be copied into the server instance.
