SetProperty and Passing Objects - Urgent Pls..

1. If I need to pass an Object to my PageBean from myJsp, I think I cann't use setProperty (as it only allows String), what's the best way to do it? I am trying to avoid scriptlet as much as possible.
2. Is there anyway I can pass any values in getProperty attribute?

finally to update an HR infotype record we use the function module hr operation rather than direct updates...also there are standard audit trail reports that monitors various activities such as insert/modify/delete operations on an hr infotype record...

Method design question...and passing object as parameter to webserice

I am new to webservice...one design question
i am writing a webservice to check whether a user is valid user or not. The users are categorized as Member, Admin and Professional. For each user type I have to hit different data source to verify.
I can get this user type as parameter. What is the best approach to define the method?
Having one single method �isValidUser � and all the client web service can always call this method and provide user type or should I define method for each type like isValidMember, isValidAdmin ?
One more thing...in future the requirement may change for professional to have more required field in that case the parameter need to have more attribute. But on client side not much change if I have a single isValidUser method...all they have to do is pass additional values

We have Java project which contains some classes common for all projects (like xxx.Version).
We have EJB project which defines EJB interface using these common classes (like getVersion(String,int): xxx.Version and getCurrency(String,xxx.Version,int):xxx.Currency ).

Hi,
Is it available in the interface you are using..
If the answer is yes.. you might have probably forgotten to deploy the EJBs ear file after making the changes..
Rebuild it.. and deploy the EJB s ear file again..
It will solve the problem.. If that also does not work,it might be a problem with the cache.. restart the server..
It should work now !

The class files need to exist on the target machine. For example if I serialize MyClass and send it as a stream to machine B, machine B needs MyClass.class on the CLASSPATH to deserialize it.
Also, make sure all machines working with the serialized stream have the same version of Java installed. (e.g., v1.2 does not play nice with v1.4, etc)

Creating remote objects and passing the retrieved data to modules

I found at this Adobe tutorial a nice "RemoteService" class that creates a RemoteObject and contains the functions for handling the result and fault events. If I wanted to use this approach, how could I pass the data from the result handler to interfaces that modules from the main application could use?
I could put the RemoteService/RemoteObject in the modules, but (in my opinion- and I could be wrong) the best design seems to be using the remote calls in the main app and passing the data along to the modules.
Ultimately, I would like to know what the "best practices" are for creating remote objects and passing the retrieved data to modules

How to declare and initialize a varray of collection Object and pass it as OUT Parameter to a procedure.
Following is the Object and VARRAY Type 's I have created and trying to pass the EmployeeList varray type variable as an OUT parameter to my stored procedure, but it is not working. I tried different possibilities of declaring and initializing the varray type variable but it did not work. Any help would be appreciated.

Problem when adding java objects in a vector and passing thru web service

Hi! I'm getting this error when I try to add a java object I created into a vector and passing it through a web service: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No Serializer found to serialize a 'testObj' using encoding style 'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/'
This does not happen when I simply add strings or Integer objects into the vector. What am I missing?

It would be great if you could paste the wsdl part for that vector and just have a look for the complex typr cntent
like for HashMap we have the following mapping

Pass object to xslt stylesheet and invoke its methods

I'd like to pass an external created object to a xslt stylesheet to dynamically modify the xslt file at run time. After searching around for weeks, I'm really desperate.
I used Xalan transformer's method setParameter(name, obj) to initialize a variable in xslt file with this object. Then the object's method was invoked.
The class that I want to invoke the method:

The problem is for all the info I knew, we can only
create a new object inside the stylesheet using new()
and then invoke this particular object's instance
method.
However, I want to pass an already created java

Xalan seems to not allow this. I have tried to pass
an object as the parameter of
transformer.setParameter(name, object) but it doesn't
work.

pass object directly into xslt?setParameter will work... in your XSL, you should have
<xsl:param name="myParam" />set the parameter in your transformer like what you had in your post...
In your XSL header, you must declare the your Java object namespace and path, such as:
xml:myJavaObject= "com.MyCompany.MyJavaObject"then in your template or anywhere that you want to use your object, you should have:
<xsl:variable name="runningMyMethod" select="myJavaObject:myJavaMethod($myParam)" />The XSL will treat $myParam as the instance object, if there is any other method parameters needed to be passed in do:

Passing Objects to Stored Procedures in SQL Queries: UNREF(REF(o))

To me it seems that passing an object (type) to stored procedure in a SQL query is quite laborious. See:
I created the following simple type:
TYPE LAST AS OBJECT (

AS LANGUAGE JAVA
NAME 'Checker.checkLast(Last) return int';
created a typed table:
CREATE TABLE lastTable OF Last;
inserted some objects:
INSERT INTO lastTable VALUES (1003);
NOW! If want to use the StoredFunction I have to use the following syntax:
SELECT checkLast(DEREF(REF(o)))
FROM lasttable o;
That's not very elegant.
I would expect the follwing to be working:
SELECT checkLast(o)
FROM lasttable o;
Did I do something wrong? Or did Oracle forget to implement the simple syntax?
Even worse, the DEREF(REF(o)) trick does not work for member functions...

I did some experiments and can now (partly) answer my own question:
Indeed, it is possible to declare a function with a parameter passed as reference:

Unfortunately, it is not possible to use the REF in PL/SQL directly:

BUT: The SQL query without VALUE is still not possible. The query

Somehow the 'e' seems to be misinterpreted completely.
Illogically, the following query works fine:
SELECT *
FROM PointTable d, PointTable e
WHERE d.distance(REF(e)) > 0
The illogical thing is that, now 'E' seems to refer to a VALUE and not to REF (because we can use the REF function), whereas in Gaverill's post 'O' seems to refer to a REF (because we can use the VALUE function).
My intent is to avoid both the VALUE(o) from Gaverill's example and the REF(e) from my example, because both is not intuitive for end users...
Maybe I have to define a VIEW holding the object values... But then the end user has to use it in the FROM part.
All in all, there seems to be no elegant solution for passing objects as parameters to functions...

Import all users and their objects without doing full database import

Hi Guys,
I have a task to that involves Importing all existing users and their objects in production to the test database without doing a full database import - Please how do i do this?
Pls i need your help urgently.

SQL> select * from v$version;
BANNER
Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Product
PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
CORE 10.2.0.1.0 Production
TNS for Linux: Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production

I tried to import objects and data from a user from a FULL dump file. File was created with the following command:
server is: SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production on Wed May 26 15:34:05 2010
exp full=y FILE="full.dmp" log=full.log
Now I imported:
imp file=full.dmp log=full.log INCTYPE=SYSTEM
imp fromuser=user1 file=full.dmp
Results: not all the user procedures have been imported:
SQL> select count(*) from user_procedures;
the Original
COUNT(*)
134
the current:
select count(*) from user_procedures;
COUNT(*)
18
I also tried these alternatives:
exp tablespaces="user1_data" FILE="user1.dmp" log=user1.log
exp LOG=user1.log TABLESPACES=user1_data FILE=user1_data.dmp
exp LOG=user1owner.log owner=user1 FILE=user1owner.dmp
expdp DIRECTORY=dpump_dir1 dumpfile=servdata_pump version=compatible SCHEMAS=user1

So, I do not understand why user1 objects are not imported:
see this part of the first import log:
Export file created by EXPORT:V10.02.01 via conventional path
import done in US7ASCII character set and AL16UTF16 NCHAR character set
import server uses WE8ISO8859P1 character set (possible charset conversion)
. importing SYS's objects into SYS
. importing USER1's objects into USER1
. . importing table .........................
why only 18 rows?
if you have an suggestion, you are welcome, as I do not have any other idea...

i was created webdynpro application.
in that i was created one view . in that i was created one button (go).
if i click that button i want move some other portal.
how can i acchive pls help me.

hi,
there is no direct tcode for going to webdynpro component/interfaces in ecc 6.0.
but u have se58 in ecc 5.0,as webdynpro convertor.u give ur program name and click web dynpro convertor button then it takes u to se80 .but this wda(webdynpro abap) component comes as in application tree hierarchy .
i can say in wda component refers a class .if u select webdynpro component/interface,it ask u to create a class or interface.
after that it automatically generate component controller(it is also a class),
interface view and windows.all these 3 are classes.for every window one interface view will be created.ie.. window is internal visible where as interface view is external visible.
u create view and embed these views in windows.by going to the window layout,right click on the window name and click embed view.u can enbed as many view as u wish.in order to navigate from one view to other view ,click "create navigation" by right clicking the view plugs.
by default windows and view have inbound plugs.this is literally a event of that class.
if u want to navigate from view1 to view2 ,create outbound plug for view1,the click outbound plug of view1 and right click the click create navigation the select inbound plug of view2.
then create a application .this is simillar of creating an object.
click on this object and test .this will open in browser.
for deploying u have use "sap webdynpro iview".
