Setting a global/default background colour?

Hi,
Is there a way in which I can set all objects in my program to have the same background colour with a global command, rather than have to do it for every single object seperately.
Dave.

Thats sounds about right, but come to think of it, I
dont want to set ALL components to the same backround
colour. I want to keep things like certain buttons
the same.What do you mean certain buttons ? With a Look and Feel class you can set the colors for ALL the buttons the same , and all the colors for say the text components the same , but if you want some buttons a certain color and other buttons another color I would Make my own button , say ColorButton that extends JButton, and then you pass a Color in the constructer and set se color ... Something like that ??

  • Default Background Colour not Black?

    I'm having a very irritating problem with the Windows default background colour.
    A while ago I had set it to this off-shade of yellow, but now whenever I make a new theme (or even load a saved one) my background colour reverts to this aforementioned yellow instead of whatever I have set it to. Which means my themes can never be saved
    and loaded, lest I want to see that awful colour again.
    A step-by-step process for those who are having trouble understanding my wording:
    make new unsaved theme, bg colour is currently set to yellow. I switch it to black, it works as intended.
    Save this theme.
    Whenever I load the saved theme, the background colour is yellow, not black, despite all other personalizations saving correctly.
    Is there a way to change the default colour so that all themes behave as intended, rather than reverting to my previously selected colour?

    Hi,
    I am frequently embedding U3D files into adobe acrobat and every time I need to manually change the "default" background colour from grey to white in the Show Advanced Options tab of the insert 3D dialog box.
    Is there a way to permanently set the default background for all inserted 3D files to white instead of the grey default?

  • Is a script available to set a default background for email messages?

    I am new to the community, not to Mac though. Currently I am on a new MacBook Air, Lion installed.
    I had a couple of minor issues about mail, the first I solved myself using automator, and succeding in sending an attachment file from finder. It went on working also after the upgrade from snow leopard to lion.
    I could not find out how to set a specific default background for new email messages (e.g. a color, or a certain template); I do not want to do it everytime for each message. I tried automator, the workflows runs ok, tried to save it as service for mail and for finder but it did not catch; as application it works, but veeeery slow.
    When I pull down the mail window, the Services line says "no services available".
    Anyone who worked on this?
    thanks

  • Default background messages

    Hi,
    I try to figure out how to change the default background of the message windows in Mail. I try to realise grey as the default background colour but I have not figured out any way to do this other that set it for each message individually.
    Thanks in advance for feedback.

    Here is some code that will display all the UIManager properties and the default settings.
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class ShowUIManager {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            UIDefaults defaults = UIManager.getDefaults();
            System.out.println("Count Item = " + defaults.size());
            String[ ] colName = {"Key", "Value"};
            String[ ][ ] rowData = new String[ defaults.size() ][ 2 ];
            int i = 0;
            for(Enumeration e = defaults.keys(); e.hasMoreElements(); i++){
                Object key = e.nextElement();
                rowData[ i ] [ 0 ] = key.toString();
                rowData[ i ] [ 1 ] = ""+defaults.get(key);
                System.out.println(rowData[0]+" ,, "+rowData[i][1]);
    JFrame f = new JFrame("UIDefaults Key-Value sheet");
    JTable t = new JTable(rowData, colName);
    f.setContentPane(new JScrollPane(t));
    //f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
    f.pack();

  • The colour picker is selecting the background colour instead of the foreground colour.

    You know how when you're painting, you can hold ALT and it will pick a colour from the canvas? Well, for some reason, mine still picks up the colour but it sets it to the background colour instead of the foreground colour. And when I actually select the colour picker tool, it will only select the background colour but when I hold Alt, it selects the foreground colour. Basically it's flipped where it's supposed to select. Do you know how to flip it back? It's driving me mad. Thanks.

    In the Color Palette (Window>Color) click on the foreground swatch. A "focus ring" will appear around it.

  • Group Policy Default Background

    Hello,
    So I have been left in charge of creating a new windows 7 image  for my company. I have come across a problem which I haven't managed to find an answer for through my extensive search through Google!
    So I need to set a default desktop background every time a
    new user logs into a machine, however they will also need the ability to be able to change the background themselves. Also, I only want it to be set for new users, (Don't want existing users to find there backgrounds have changed when they log in).
    finally, it should only push it out once and not reapply.
    Any way for me to do this? I can change registry keys if needed and also GPOs however I don't want it to affect existing users only new ones!
    Thanks,
    Ash

    Now I see why I was confused - you're mixing up what you need to do.  You said you need to create a NEW Windows 7 image, but then you mention not affecting existing users' backgrounds.  A new image has no existing users.
    Are you try to do two different things, update/create a new Windows 7 image AND set a new default background on already deployed computers?
    HKU:\.Default is the default user registry hive, new user profiles are created based on what's in there.  So if you create a Wallpaper REG_SZ value with the file path to the new background image as the data, that would apply to new users logging in.
    That is assuming there are no GPO or GPP being applied that set the value differently.  You mention c:\users\(user)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\TranscodedWallpaper.jpg, which implies there may be a theme that is being applied somehow.
    I provided the reg add command because I assumed you wanted to distribute this change to existing machines, i.e. push it out, and this is the only way to do it without affecting existing users.  I'm pretty sure applying a new GPP would change existing
    users' background, although that would be the preferred way to do it.
    For the image, if you're logged in to it, you can just navigate to the key manually and create the value.
    I don't believe there's another registry value involved, but I could be mistaken.
    I hope this post has helped!

  • How to remove the option "Set as default background..." from the right-click menu on a picture, for all users.

    Hi! I would like to know if there is any possibility to remove the option "Set as default background..." from the right-click menu on a picture, for all users. I know that's possible to edit userContent.css or userChrome.css, but this concerns only a profile at a time and being in a domain, I would like to set this for all people using Firefox.
    Can it be possible to edit a mozilla.cfg file to get the same result?
    Thank you in advance for help and tips.

    AFAIK then there is no way to do that system wide. You can only do that via userChrome.css or an extension like the Menu Editor per profile .You can install extensions globally, but the user will have to enable them anyway. That is not required for userChrome.css code.

  • Unable to set background colour JTableHeader in Java 1.6_18

    We're moving our application from Java 1.4.2 to 1.6_18, so far without major problems but there's some small issues with the GUI. Originally we'd change the background colour of the JTableHeader, but in 1.6_18 that doesn't seem to work. Instead of colouring the complete header it just seems to draw an outline. It kind of gives the impression that there's something on top of the table header which hides the coloured background.
    The code below shows what I'm trying to do, and gives different results when compiled in Java 1.4.2 and Java 1.6_18. It makes no difference whether I'm using the UIManager or setting the background directly on the JTableHeader.
    The application still works fine of course, but it bugs me that I can't work out what the problem is, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I've already had a look at bug [6521138|http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6521138], but it makes no difference whether a new JTableHeader is set, so I think it's different. Also, the workaround for bug [4776303|http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4776303] has no effect so I think that doesn't apply either.

    Ah yes, when I change that setting the background of the table header indeed gets the expected background colour. Unfortunately it also makes my desktop look hopelessly outdated :-( And I can't really expect my end-customers to change their settings just to run my little application. Still, I suppose this proves that the problem lies in the L&F?Seconded Jeanette's sentiment, this is definitely a feature, not a problem. You want system LaF, you get System LaF, with all the bells and whistles. If you're sure you don't want the system embellishments, you could consider using my [_default table header cell renderer_|http://tips4java.wordpress.com/2009/02/27/default-table-header-cell-renderer/].

  • Change background colour of full screen slideshow when set to fit content proportionally

    I've signed up for a demo of Muse and must say I'm very impressed. Having used Dreamweaver in the past at Uni, often getting bogged down in code, Muse is a designers dream. I've even told some friends about it, describing it as "InDesign for web designers". The features, and tutorials on Adobes site, are fab however I'm now needing a bit of assistance.
    I'd like several images to fit the whole screen on a specific section of my Muse website, right under the navigation bar. I've noticed the easiest way to do this is create a full screen slideshow. With this option I can add one, or multiple, pictures to fade in and out - communicating various messages and selling points. By default the widget options are set to Fill Frame, which expands my graphic to completely fill the browser. Unfortunately with this selected the image loses some quality and seems to zoom in, getting cropped in the process. When changing the settings to Fit Content Proportionally everything looks great. The graphic is smack bang right under my navigation like I desire however there is also a ghastly grey box either side because the graphic is now it's original size. The grey on either side seems to be the slideshow background colour but I am unable to figure out a way to alter this - from grey to black. Please see the link for more info: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/50403221/Screen%20Shot%202014-08-14%20at%2018.00.34.pn g
    Would any fellow Musers know of a way to get round this? Or perhaps should this be an enhancement request?
    Thanks, Chris

    Hi Chris,
    Can you select the slideshow widget that you have added and check the fill color in control panel.

  • Setting a page background colour

    Hi everyone,
    Im new to InDesign, and am (or at least i thought i was), in the final stages of completing a brochure (A4 landscape format) for my photography business.
    The brochure Im creating is intended as both a downloadable pdf and also for viewing on screen.
    My issue is this:
    Ive somehow managed to set it up so that the page background colour is black, which is what I want, as my text alternates between white and a shade of grey.
    However, when I PDF this document, or try to physically print it, the pages show up as white, and so a lot of my white text does not show and the grey text looks almost invisible.
    Can someone please enlighten me as to how I actually achieve what i would like to - i.e. black pages.
    Many, many thanks in advance.
    Stevieboy1970

    Thanks for your reply.
    I figured that would be the way to go. Though I'm getting a glitch when using image gallery widgets where the background colour flashes white when zooming on an image on the final ipad book. The background fade effect when zooming is set by default to start from white I presume. Hope they fix that soon.

  • Global Background Colour with individual Overide Text Boxes

    Hi I am looking to apply a global background colour using the details properties.
    However I have individual text boxes that have their own background colour based on expressions that I want to overide the global details properites.
    So I set up the global one with this expression
    IIF(Fields!Number_of_Defendants.Value = 1 ,"Yellow","Transparent")
    for the individual text box I used a nested IIF
    =IIF(Fields!Bill_Rate.Value = 115,"Red",IIF(Fields!Number_of_Defendants.Value = 1 ,"Yellow","Transparent"))
    This works but I'm wondering if their is a easier way so I don't have to have the 2nd clause.
    Regards

    Hi aivoryuk,
    As per my understanding, I think the expression you post is simple way. If you don’t want to use IIF function, I suggest we can try to use switch function as below to achieve the similar requirement:
    =Switch(Fields!Bill_Rate.Value = 115,"Red",Fields!Number_of_Defendants.Value = 1 ,"Yellow")
    If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.
