Setting and calling top level varialbes

Is there away to call and set a top level variable from a
child component that way i can access the variable no matter where
i am from inside the application. For example i have a login
component that gets the userid. I would then like to set that
userid to a scope that can be accessed from any other component as
i use the userid to validate other cfc calls and so on.

Application.application should get you there.
i.e. Application.application.myVariable

How can i set the item properties at top level

FND Framework Compataibiity Mode is a Profile Option you can set the value as 11.5.10.
And instead of creating product branding progrmatically create product branding and incontextbranding at design time.
Also, for both of these items we have View Object and View Instance properties...
For this you take two transient attributes in VO and then as you have grabbed the responsibility name and operating unit...
then you can set these values on these Transient attributes and then they will be visible on Top region of page.
Associate these transient Attributes on product branding and incontextbranding items.

I cannot make a top level collection set.

LR 4 only lists other collection sets as an option or "next to." I have a PC, 16 GIG RAM.

It depends on your starting point. If you already have a static collection or collection set selected when you press the + icon, I agree you get the options that you've stated. NW 7.3 - WPC: Area in top level

Hello,
in Netweaver 7.3 the link between WPC Areas and roles now has to be defined as connection instead of external id. I would like to set areas as top-level navigation node
for Example:
WPC Area Public
-- Sub Area About Us
Page 1
Page 2
When I now add it to role I cannot set the connection as entrypoint (flag is disabled in overview, in details it has no effect). So I have to create another folder as entrypoint to show content:
Folder About Us Folder
-- Public
About us
Page 1
Page 2
No I would like to merge About Us with About us Folder, but as the entrypoint setting the merge id settings have no effect.
Does someone has a solution for this?

You may achieve this by creating 2 separate Roles....
Just a thought,
Role X1
---Folder X
Role X11 - Area USx(connection ID)
Role Y1
---Folder X
Role Y11 - Area USy (connection ID)
In both the Portal Roles -
Entry Point would be maintained on Folder X
Merge Role X11 and Y11 with a common Merge ID
..................I did not test this , but just a logical thought to achive the same.

Enlarging Top-Level VI front panel

I'm now customizing the TS4.0 version of the LabVIEW operator interface and I have a problem. The monitor in my office is smaller than the monitor attached to the Rack that tests the UUT. I'm trying to make the front panel bigger than my desk's front panel so as to take advantage of the lab display size. I've just started this effort, so I'm seeing all sorts of anomalies, but how do resolve this one. I've tried some of the VI Properties (i.e. Window Size, Window Run-Time Position). When I clicked on the Window Size, and clicked the Set To Current Panel Size, I saw a popup saying "The minimize screen size you set exceeds the size of the main screen which will force your window to be larger than the screen. Do you wish to save these settings?" I select "OK", and still the screen is not the right size. After mucking around with the different settings, I've even got to the point where the splash screen flashes momentarily, and disappears, and the top-level front panel doesn't even show up any more.

I'm sorry but I still can't reproduce your problem. I realize you don't want to post your project on a public forum, but are you able to create a simple VI that demonstrates the problem you are experiencing?

How to merge top level navigation into detail navigation panel.

I want to add all the contents of top level navigation into detail navigation panel and remove top level navigation.I am looking for the code with which i can shift the top level navigation to detail level navigation.

You could edit the top-level navigation iview and set the Number of Display levels property's value to 0.
you can reach the Top-level navigation iview by going through the following path
1) Content Administration --> Portal Content --> Content Provided by SAP --> Admin Interfaces --> Top-level navigation
However, note that once you do this the whatever menus that are available in the top level will not be available anymore.
Maybe, you could copy the standard Top-level navigation into a framework page that you have created and then make the change. After doing so, you can assign it to groups/roles you want. This will ensure that the CONTENT/SYSTEM/USER administrators see the normal portal framework and specific user groups alone dont see the Top level navigation..

Thanks for the time being mah colleage got a solution. Created 2 dummy roles test1, test 2 . Assigned Test1 to Test2, and assigned other roles to those Test2.
Went to default frame work set Tool Area, Top-Level Navigation invisible.
Now the other roles that have been assigned to test role 2 appear on detail navigation as a tree.
Not recommended but works ;).

How to stop location bar autocomplete from using top-level domains?

I love the location bar autocomplete - or at least, I used to. I had it trained to the point where typing one letter was enough to bring up the pages I used most often. But now with Firefox 12, it ignores all that and favors top-level domains.
For instance: I haven't been to the front page of YouTube in years; there's no reason to go there. When I would type "www.y" into the location bar, it would pop up to the one video I visited most often - and that's exactly what I WANTED it to do. Now it defaults to "YouTube.com" and I have to scroll down to find the actual page I want. Same deal with Wikipedia: I don't want to go to the front page, I want to go to the page I use most often for research.
So basically, what do I need to change to get the location bar autocomplete to stop giving me top-level domains I don't want, and go back to giving me the subpages I spent years training it to favor? Scrolling down to the right entry is a waste of time when typing one letter and hitting enter should be enough to do it...

And I meant the actual location bar, not the dropdown menu below it. The dropdown is fine: it's the autocomplete '''in''' the location bar that needs to be fixed...

Top level navigation is lost

Hi All,
FYI We are building a sandbox system and doing branding for it.
I had downloaded the par file zipped it and extracted its content made a lil change in a java script same as our existing portal,
and uplaoded the file through administration console under system administration.
And my top level navigation is not present at all now instead it gives a portal runtime error com.sapportals.portal.prt.component.PortalComponentException: Error in init method
I have the backup par file but cannot upload it as I cannot see system administration tab itself,
Can anyone tell me when we upload the file through Administration console where is it stored ? would like to know the path so that I can manually go and put the file or do I need to use NWDS ?

In application builder the top level vi is always set to "run when opened"; how do I turn this off so I don't have to change it each and every time I build a .exe??

I build a lot of executables using Application Builder under LabVIEW and in every one I build, I don't want the top level vi to take off and run when I open the executable. Currently, I edit each .exe I build within Application Builder and change the option of "run when opened" from Yes to No for the top level vi. All the other subvi's are already set to No. It would seem as though there should be some way to "turn this off" if you will so the top level vi is not always set to "run when opened" by default within Application Builder. Is there such a solution that anyone knows of?? Any help would be apprec

Indeed the Application builder forces "run when opened" to true for top levels VIs. If you don't want your VI to make any real work when the application starts, you should simply put a do-nothing loop in the beginning of the VI that will loop until the user presses a boolean. It will be more intuitive for users to press a Run button on the FP than clicking on the white Run arrow in the bar.

Is there a script that can do the following that ImageReady was capable of?

I know there is a script that can just export the layer as files, but what I want to do is export the "Top Level Layers and Layer Sets" so that I can send several layers grouped under a folder as one image.

Well the most common way is to enclude the vi's in the build spec either directly in the dependancies that the App builder automatically generates OR by declaring them in the build spec as "additional enclusions" (like you must do for dynamic vi calls in your app.
I have heard rummors about My.app Stuff.vi in a nugget Intaris posted- and I've wanted to dig deaper into Intaris' claims- but have not tried it myself.

Unable to set a top-level property object

Hey guys
I've made a little sequence to fetch data from a XML file. In that XML file, there is some informations (entries) (IP addresses, port numbers, etc) about 4 different types of devices(sections are the devices names). The first section of the XML tells me the NAMES of the devices I have to configure. The type of each device is located in the entries of each device. Each device has its own information and I can have more than one device of a type. In teststand, I've created custom data types (containers with empty fields) for each type of device I need.
I want to dynamically create the devices that the XML file tells me to configure as fileglobal variables and populate them with their own config informations (entries of the XML file). I'm creating new fileglobal of the type I want using PropertyObject step and I'm creating an alias of that fileglobal that I'm passing in parameter to a subsequence who's getting infos from XML. Here, everything is OK.
The problem occurs when I want to configure 2 or more objects of the same type. At the SetProperty step (where i'm creating the fileglobal variable) teststand gives me the error:
"Unable to set a top-level property object to another object. Error accessing item 'Parameters.DeviceToInitStruct'."
Is there any ways to avoid that problem and creating to variable of the same type ?

I finally got rid of that problem.
Instead of using a PropertyObject.Clone step, I used a statement who's just copy the "MasterObject" into a "CloneObject" and i'm working with that copy. So the sequence can now create devices of the same type without any conflict with the first device.
i'll post here a short example to show how i did... maybe it'll be useful for someone...
