Setting dimensions of a iframe to fit a page

Right,
I have recently started my new website for a Indie team which I am currently running, now the problem I have got is that the forum I am using is not really that customizable. So I have decided to make it view able, though a Iframe, as you can see here:
Now as you can see, there is a problem with the frame height. Now I now how to code iframes, but is there anyway. Js wise. For there to be a code which checks the height of the page inside the iframe and then changes the iframe height to fit that?

  • How can i print a PDF to fit to page ?

Maybe this is due to some setting i am overlooking..
I have some PDF pages which i want to print on A4 sheets. However, the pages which come out are zoomed in copies , displaying about 60% of the page and cutting out the rest.
I want to fit the page to A4 size paper while printing.. Where do i have to make this setting ?
    Thanks

That depends on the program, but if it's Preview, go to Page Setup... under the File menu. Select the appropriate paper size there. Then go to File > Print... and do a Preview. If the content does not fit on the page, some printer drivers will have a Scale to Fit setting. If there is none, go back to Page Setup... and manually adjust the Scale until it fits nicely when you do a Preview.

  • Fit to Page doesn't work on HP 8600

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer I purchased from BestBuy a few days ago, and am checking out the functions that I deem critical.  One of the features I use often is the copy subfunction, "Fit to page" -- I know how to work the 8600 menus, and after a little futzing around I found the "Fit to page" option, selected it, and tried to enlarge an original to fit the (letter size) page.  Alas, it printed at 100%.  I tried manual enlargement, and it worked. Never could get "Fit to page" to work.
So I then opened up Photoshop and made  a prestine target for testing: a 4x6 inch graphic, 300 pixels/inch, white background with a 12 point black border.  On the inside I filed it with 12-point Times Roman text.  I printed it on my LaserJet 200.  Finally, I trimmed it, leaving a margin (about 1mm) around each edge.
This gave me a good clean copy. I first set the 8600 to enlarge the copy by 175%, and it came out as expected (enlarged).  Next I set the 8600 to "Fit to Page" and once again it produced a 100% copy.
    Yikes!
So I called HP telephone support.  There was a language barrier in our 50 minute conversation (he was located in Delhi, India), but that wasn't the biggest problem.  We just could not get it to work.  I'm not tech dummy (wrote my 1st program 51 years ago), and have used HP printers since the the Deskjet 540.  All familiar territory.  But I confess I'm flummoxed.
    HELP !!

    Responding to AWBrown
Yes, I've tried the HP forum, and it has not been helpful.  I've encouraged two other friends to purchase 8600s in the past year (since the 8500 went off the market); both did (actually, as I recall, both were from BestBuy) and both are well pleased with their purchase.  However, neither has any use for the "fit to page" copy function.  I normally use it about three times each week.  I could make up an enlarging calculator using Microsoft Excel, but I actually choose the 8600 because it is the successor to the 8500 and it kept the "fit to page" copy function.  Someone suggested that I try to place the original copy on the scanner bed instead of using the document feeder -- well, that is the way I started (and always did on the 8500) -- I tried the document feeder only after the scanner bed failed.
Several hours of telephone calls with HP tech "support" has not be helpful -- the second person was going to escalate the issue to her supervisor and call back.  Alas, no return call.  All they have are scripts which, the best I can tell, help them navigate through the printer's control panel menu.  None of them have actually used this feature before. And there is no "ticket number" so that with each call you go through the same lengthy process to reset the 8600 to factory defaults -- something I can do in my sleep now.
After being involved in what we now call IT for 50 years, this has been one of my most flustrating experiences.  My concern is that I may take the 8600 back to BestBuy (I'm still within the 15 day return window), and have the replacement unit do the same thing.
    Yikes!

  • Is There a Fit-to-Page Option in Scan?

When I scanned a government form that is on an 8.5" x 11" sheet, but has only a 1/4" left, right, top margins and 1/8" bottom margin, the preview showed the bottom 1.5" of the form and part of the text on the side margins cut off.
I selected the "Save as PDF*" option.
I could not find a Fit-to-Page or Reduction-by-Percentage options in the Scan settings. I found "Letter Portrait (8.5 x 11)" and "Entire Scan Area" options.  I tried each one with the same result stated above.  The "Custom Scan Size" option provided for selecting a specific Width and Length, which would have been 8.5 and 11, the same as had been previously used, therefore it was not tested.
I need all of the text on the sheet to show.

    Hello @Erislandy,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with scanning the 8.5 x 11 inch sheet on your HP Officejet 5740 e-All-in-One Printer successfully without cutting off portions of the text. To resolve this issue I did some testing of my own on the Officejet 5740 printer I have here, and the following are my findings.
First, I checked into the specifications of your printer. I found that the maximum scan size through the automatic document feeder on your machine is 8.5 x 14 inches. The maximum scan size for the flatbed is 8.5 x 11.7 inches. After finding this information I performed scan tests through both the automatic document feeder and flatbed to verify if there was a significant difference in the settings.
Test 1: I chose the Save as PDF option. I set the Scan Size to Entire Scan Area and loaded the letter size sheet of paper in the automatic document feeder.
This image had a lot of blank space at the bottom and top of the sheet to account for the 8.50 x 14 inch scan size.
Test 2: I chose the Save as PDF option. I set the Scan Size to Entire Scan Area and loaded the letter size sheet of paper on the flatbed.
There is a bit of blank space at the bottom of the sheet.
Test 3: I then ran the scan tests for the 'Save as PDF' option with the Scan Size set to letter for both the automatic document feeder and the flatbed. Both tests came out almost identical.
At no time were the margins changed to cut off the text on the report.
This got me thinking that perhaps a setting conflict was occuring that was causing the text on your scanned image to crop down to a size.
If you open the HP Scan software on your computer and click Advanced Settings on the bottom left, please make sure that the Auto Crop option is not selected.
Once Auto Crop has been disabled, please click OK and perform your scan again. I found that when I ran the same test scan with Auto Crop enabled the margins were cut off. In regards to a Fit-To-Page option, there is no such setting within the software.
Please respond to this post with the result of checking your scan settings. Should the issue persist, can you please clarify if you're scanning through the flatbed, or the automatic document feeder on your product. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • Set default Initial View to Bookmarks Panel and Page on all new docs

    Hello Acrobat Experts,
We convert *many* Word docs to PDF.  We have PDFMaker force security on all docs.  Now every document has the security settings we want.
    That works.
We want to force the default Initial View to be Bookmarks Panel and Page so that *every* new document shows the Bookmark Panel and the Page.
We don't want to set this per document (which is a multi-setp process and a hassle, especially now that security is enabled) but globally for all new documents created by Adobe Acrobat.
Any and all advice is most welcome.
    Thank you in advance.
    Tech details:
    Acrobat Professional 8.1.7
Windows Xp Professional (all current updates)

The article I pointed to in my Oct 20, 2009 post #3 contains two pointers that might assist to initially open the PDF fitting the page to the window.
    I think you may be after "Vire [/Fit]" as described in the article;
    [ /PageMode /UseOutlines
    /Page 1 /View [/Fit ]
    /DOCVIEW pdfmark
These lines of code open your PDF document with the bookmarks panel open. If you just want the document on its own try "UseNone" instead of "UseOutlines". Here are some additional values:
/Page 1 opens the PDF on page 1
View [/Fit ] opens the PDF Fit to page
And the article points to the PDFMark reference where you might look at Actions and Destinations on page 47.
I've not tried to do this myself so would you be kind enough to post your result and let us know the version of Acrobat you're using?

  • Printing JPanel to fit one page, Urgent  (thanks for help)..........

    hi all,
I am trying to print and can't get the right scaling. My problem is if the JPanel that has lot of images inside it is too big to come on one page width and height then I want the print out to be on one page. If my panel's height is too large to fit on one page and the width is only half of the page or less than page half of the width. Then I want to scale it's height only to fit on one page while keeping the width the same during printing and the images also to be scaled accordingly. And if my height is too small lets say less than half the page and the width is too large too fit on one page then in this case I want to print the original height or keep the height to be shown on the printout as it looks on the screen but scale the width to fit on to one page and the images also to be scaled accordingly. But my following piece of code doesn't honor this though it fits on one page. It keeps on increasing the width or height to fit the whole page thought the width or height is less than that and the images are also expaned accordingly. I want to scale the images too and only fit the width or height if any is greater than one page. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks in advance

    Dear Nadia,
    Thanks for the info.
If I understand it correct I can make a copy of my actual css file.
Rename it this copy to e.g. print.css
And then make some changes such a letter fonts and colour
Linking this css file to my pages and specify it is only for `print1`
    Right?
I`m using a template so if I amend the template like this and have all pages updated automatically that should do the trick?
    Right?
Is there somewhere where I need to mention that e.g. the page needs to be reduced onto 95% by printing?
Or will the print.css do the trick?
Sometimes I get confused on what css can do and it can do a lot.
Many thanks for helping me out here.
    Kind regards
    martine

  • Controlling print options esp. fit to page

is there a way to control print options, particularly fit to page, from within the PDF itself?
We provide print ready files for our clients who print them as needed, but they are brochures that are set up for fit to page OFF, otherwise the white border (because it can't bleed) around it is uneven.
So they would send the file to our print shop and the printer would automatically print it with this option off, based on the pdf settings for that document.

Go to Properties (Crtl+D) and the advanced tab, you can set the print porperties that will come up by default there, it is still possible to over ride them though.

  • Cause and effect map, zoom = "fit to page" - default option

when opening cause and effect map, the default zoom option is : zoom = 100%.
how can I change the default to be : zoom = fit to page ?

    Sorry no workaround as yet...
I too am now sick of the amount of expensive paper I have wasted due to the Preview app default print setting of 'Scale to fit'.
    - No option to print at 100%, you have to manually input this information.
    - No way to change this default in preferences, you can change the opening viewing size of a doc to 100% though.
    - Doesn't remember the previous settings if you decide to reopen the doc and print another copy.
I also found that if I attempted to print an A4 doc with bleed and crop marks, it would set the default paper size to A4 and the annoying scale to fit would be set to 83%. If I then changed the scale by typing in 100% but don't hit enter for fear of the print starting and then simply use the drop down to change the paper to A3 and then change the orientation and then hit enter it ignores that you have changed the scale and prints your doc at 83% on A3 - Brilliant!
It's a shame to say that I will be going back to acrobat for pdfs!
If you can't put a 100% scale radio button on the print dialogue box either allow people to change the default in prefs or even better allow the presets to control paper size and scale of printing!

  • Printing fit to page: how to capture it to drive printing of the Printable

The print dialog allows through the properties button to set document to fit to scale. I am not clear how to capture that either as a PageFormat or a PrintRequestAttribute. Any pointers on this?
    Thanks

The Problem with fit-to page and HTML is that it is not working. HTML is not a Pageoriented design like PDF. There are a lot of strange things to take care of, if you want to print html in that way that a Browser recognizes the Layout and prints it correctly. The easiest way is to let a external tool (like Html-toPdf Converters or export to Excel)perform the conversion to achieve a good printing result. Excel has a excelent Print engine. But it is a lot of effort to create the excel format in Office XML Style. I created an external Windows service which can convert HTML to Pdf. Together with 2 new items which offers Pagesetup and Pagebreak options in the WAD. The User can choose print out of the contextmenu, which calls the windows service on the Application server, and returns the PDF file in separate window. Afterwards the user can print with acrobat reader.
FROM my opinion it is really difficult to transform the html in good looking way. for example. You have a large table with more than one Characteristic in the drilldown. If you now want to transform the html, it is difficult, because the Tablecells uses row and colspans, which are not breakable. and so. Also you have a problem with header an footers.
Also you have a problem with printing if you make us of the broadcaster. The user who receives the html-files cannot print them, and also he can't call the helpservice, because he is offline...
    best regards.

  • How to select page size and fit to page size?

i am reading documentation here and feeling like a total dolt.
can someone please remind me how i get my spreadsheet to print to my second printer and to get it to print in tray 1 with the 11 x 17 paper and how i get the spreadsheet to scale to fit this page size?
i can't figure out if i am supposed to select the paper size first in the PRINT dialog but if i do this i can't figure out how to scale it and if i scale it i can't figure out how to get it off of 8 x 11 paper.
oh the conundrums in mac print dialogs ; )
    tia

    hi wayne.
i think you have a level of expertise with this software that let's you answer a question in a way that i don't understand. either that or perhaps as a new user my questions are not clear to you.
can you tell me if it is possible to create a SETTING that will let me open a document that is SENT TO ME so that i don't have to run through all these steps just to do what i am asking to do in the title of this post? i mean, i am going to print this explanation out so i can refer to it in the future but i don't want to have to go through all these steps every time someone sends me a document.
i also don't want to have to ask them to format the document as a pdf at 11 x 17 and 12 x 18 every time they send me something.
    does that question make sense?
AFAIK your answer is indicating that i can set up a TEMPLATE that will let me /create/ new documents by using this template and what i am asking is if there is a way to print a document to 11 x 17 or to 12 x 18 with PRESETS as i do in Preview....
    can you help?
    THANKS!

  • Printing problem: "fit to page" option does not work, even from cmd

    hello!
i am switching a company over to linux, that's why i am trying to make it shine as much as possible!
unfortunately i have to explain why something as simple as printing an email to one page instead of 1 and half isn't working...
no matter what i always get the same layout ... through
    a) print menues which give me the option to scale to page e.g. firefox's print menue or
    b) command line with the option found in (http://localhost:631/help/options.html#FIT_TO_PAGE)
    lp -o fit-to-page filename
    lpr -o fit-to-page filename
they both do not result in a scaled to one page output, instead i get the same result a print without any extra configuration gives me (2 pages).
i don't know where to report this problem!?
since i don't know whether it is an arch, Canon, CUPS or postscript problem ...
    my setup is:
    manjaro/arch linux (latest packages)
    CUPS 1.7.1
canon imagerunner irc2880 - printer language = postscript
    gnome 3.10
(i use the canon "cque" aur package to get the only working ppd for this printer (cel-irc2880-ps-de.ppd) [working = print both b/w & color] ... ps stands for postscript.
pls help or direct me to the right channels
    THANK YOU

    firefox -> print... -> options
    works for you?

Apple never included the auto-update feature for dates in Pages v5.2.2. You would have to single-click the date, and deliberately update it.
If you have Pages ’09 v4.3 in /Applications/iWork '09, then it will allow you to configure auto-update of the date field. Right-click on the date, set the format, and click the selection for automatically update on open.

  • CF Set form.variable for query and Next/Previous pages error

I have a CF form with a select that posts to a CF "action" page.
On the action page I: CFSET ItemNumber=#form.ItemNumber#
I CFOUTPUT the 'ItemNumber' into the CFQUERY (which is an Inner Join dependant on the '#ItemNumber#')...
All of the above works just fine and displays the database fields in color alternating rows, per the rest of the code.
    Here's the problem:
I'm displaying 40 rows on a page per "Next and Previous" code. (CFPARAM name="start" default="1" and CFPARAM name="disp" default="40" along with the rest of the NextN code in the header and body). This does display 40 rows on the page and puts a link at the bottom of the page "Next 40 Rows", etc.
Note: I'm only querying the database once and using the query (query name="data") to populate the table rows And the NextN code (CFOUTPUT name="data") And (CFIF start + disp GREATER THAN data.RecordCount, etc)...
The problem happens when you click the "Next 40 Rows" link to display the 2nd page of rows. Since (I'm assuming) this NextN code is 're-reading' the same page from top to bottom, an error is thrown when the code tries to read the CFSET ItemNumber=#form.ItemNumber# at the top of the page.
With the #form.ItemNumber# on this action page Originally coming from the previous posting of the form to this action page, when the "Next 40 Rows" link is clicked and the NextN code re-reads this action page - the CFSET ItemNumber (#form.ItemNumber) is not getting populated and throws the error...
I hope I've not made this sound confusing.
I can get the NextN code to work when I'm just querying the database without "flying in" a form variable. But when I CFSET a variable (#form.ItemNumber#) that is inserted into the query, the second page of the NextN throws an error and doesn't display.
I would include the page code here but it would be fairly lengthy and, as well, the NextN code is a 'standard' CF code -- I've narrowed the problem down to the above "Element is undefined" (when the page tries to reload from the "Next 40 Rows" link) and am hoping there's a simple fix or another way to display the records in Next and Previous pages.
Thanks to anyone in advance for shedding light on this.
    - e

Thank you for the reply, Owain.
Yes - The Next/Previous at the bottom of the page are hyperlinks.
    <a href="ThisPage.cfm?start=#Evaluate("start + disp")#">
The following is at the top of the page (and is the variable from the form that I CFOUTPUT in the query):
    <cfparam name="ItemNumberDropdown01" default="">
    <cfset ItemNumber = #form.ItemNumberDropdown01#>
The error report showed that the "Next Page" hyperlink was reading an undefined variable... although when the "action page" first opens from the form posting to it, it populates the CFSET just fine (per the cfparam and cfset above)... As you mention, the hyperlink clearing the form scope is what causes the error in trying to display the next set of records...
The form page and the 'action page' are both secure pages with an application page setting the session, etc. Am I at risk in using an URL scope?
Where would this URL scope be put? (The href is shown above - would the URL scope go in this? - How would this be written?)
The CFPARAM and CFSET would still exist at the top of the 'action page' and still throw an error wouldn't it or would this be replaced with something else to read the form.variable for this 'first' action page to be displayed?
Thanks again for the 'education' on this...
