Setting Goto Step Destination to a Setup Step

Folks,
I am trying to set the destination of a Goto step located in the Cleanup section of my sequence, to a step in the Setup section of my sequence. When I attempt to do this, the Goto step will not recognize any steps with a destination in the Setup section. Is there an expression I can use to allow my Goto step to recognize the step in the Setup section? I have enclosed an example file.
Background: I am trying to set up a test loop that will encompass my entire sequence. My sequence will contain steps in the Setup section that will turn on a power supply, connect to a comm port, etc., while the Cleanup section will turn off the power supply and disconnect the comm port. The main section of the sequence will perform test steps on the UUT (i.e. measure voltages, communicate to the UUT, etc.). Under nomral test conditions this sequence will only operate once. However I am trying to add a continuos test loop, for test qualifaction purposes, that will allow me to loop the entire test sequence (i.e. Setup, Main, and Cleanup sections) using a simple Goto step in the Cleanup section. Thus, my question above.
Thank you in advance for your time and response(s).
Thank you,
Jim

Hi,
I think you are on to a loser there. (cannot view your sequence file at the moment so I cannot exactly see what you are doing).
Try putting your steps into a sequence and call this. That way you can control the caller step to recall the sequence again.
You can do this one of two ways,
1) put the step into a loop with a custom set-up so the sequence can setup the return value to loop again or end the loop
2) the sequence has an expression step in the cleanup to change the next step to be executed when it returns to the caller so that it repeats the same steps again.

  • Invoice Approval Setup steps without AME

    Hi,
Can some one help me with your directions on setting up AP Invoice approval process with out using AME
    Appreciate in Advance
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
I dont think there are much setup steps involved if you are not using AME.
You need to check the Require invoice approval flag in the payables options to be checked.
There are 2 more checkbox - require validation before approval & Force approval - whereby the invoice should be validated before it can be approved and the force approval option specifies an user can force approve the invoice using the invoices action window.
and thereafter whatever invoice which gets created in system will be routed for approval.
Infact AME is used for specific and complex rules set up to be in place for invoice approval, if you dont have specific/complex rules than standard rules of invoice approval will be applied.
i.e. an invoice created by an user will be routed to his supervisor using the employee supervisor hierarchy and once approved by the supervisor the invoice status will change to approved.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks
    Manish Jain.

  • Set expression's variable in the same step

I probably asking a rhetorical question, but does it exist a way to set an expression's variable (say for load sequence dynamically) in the same step (sequence call)?
I have a situation where I need to read a sequence path from the database and then call this sequence. If I try to do that in pre-step it doesn't work, TestStand tries to evaluate the sequence file path expression when call the step and before the pre-step is executed.
So, what I doing now, do this in two steps, read database first and then do sequence call.
Similar problem is for Message Popup, I need to read the message to display from the database.
Two steps works fine but are not convenient to use. We create our test sequences from custom step types and it would be easier to drop just one step instead of pair of steps in order. Or, is it a way to bind two step types together and always drop two if one is selected?

Dah! I didn't know about the OnNewStep when I posted this.
Juergen, thank you, this is interesting example but not related to my question.
My concern is mostly cosmetical. I can do the job in two steps, but because these two steps will always come together I'd like to combine them in one step in the sequence. This is not possible because the second step depends of the first step output.
Looks like my second example for Message Popup is not true, at least it works if I set the message in the step's Pre-expression. But take a look to my Sequence Call.seq. How to obtain Sequence Path specified by expression in the same SequenceCall step?

so if u can please help by providing setup steps which are required and mandatory for Inter Company Transactions so that i can go through once and have a recheck once where I have gone wrong.
    Regards,

Do the components go to the same painting supplier?
If yes perhaps think about this.
Have the requisitions get created at the release of the work order.
Don't have any leadtime built into the operation to paint red...have the leadtime in paint blue.
Both can go out at the same time...and come back at the same time without any additional time built in.
    Does this work for you?

  • Accounting Setups - Step Complete

Hi all. I am new to Oracle R12.
I am in the process of Accounting Setups - Reporting Currencies.
I mistakenly clicked on Complete in the Reporting Currencies - Setup Step.
It is now showing Green but I need to update the Currencies entries.
Is there any way of opening up a Step once the Setup Step has been ticked as completed?
    Thanks...

An article will have perhaps 20,000 components and these will have serial numbers.
I would like to know what steps I need to setup to get the components of the serial numbers master data(BOM), how would I do the GR and GI to test this and also returns.

  • How start setup step by step ?

Hello,  ... I've got a problem with my MSI 925X Neo 54G PE motherboard (electric current short cut down) and I want to know how start setup step by step to find troubleshoots ? Thanks.

When I press on/off button, computer start normaly and stop during setup with message :
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER
The problem, there is no error message before and I don't know where is the troubleshoot during setup sequence.
I already try to rescue system with WinXP CDROM : fixboot and fixmbr ... but nothing do. If I press F8 during setup I can access to boot screen and when I choose my HDD, Win start normaly with all its function ok.
I already have a troubleshoot like this there is six month ago, and solution have been to modify BIOS setup. So, my hope is to run setup step by step to find troubleshoot message and post it here. Thanks.

  • How to send the output of one step as input to next step

    Hello All,
I have a question that how to send the output of the first step as the input to the next step.
     for e.g
consider a test sequence as below,
      1.battery ON.
      2. read Voltage
      3. Check battery voltage.
as initially the battery gets ON when ever the test starts. in the second step it reads the voltage. let us assume that the voltage is 11.5V,
in the third step we r checking/validating that battery voltage in the range 11V to 12 V. . I mean if the vloltage value is  less than 11V or greater than 12V te test has to FAIL.
so in order to check that voltage we need to send the voltage read from the second step.
so how can I send the voltage read from the second step to the third step so that I can check the battery voltage test.
kindly suggest me this using LabVIEW/Test stand.

    Hi,
Why do you need the third step, if the second step is a Numeric Limit Test step type, you can setup the limits of this step for your required limits of 11V and 12V. Your result is returned from your VI to Step.Results.Numeric which will be evaluated in the Status Expression giving you a Pass / Fail status.
Look at the example TestStand\examples\demo\..\Computer Motherboard Test\computer.seq
But to answer your reoriginal question, some additional information is required.
What are your inputs and outputs assigned to in TestStand, do you use the Step properties, Locals, FileGlobals?

  • How to Set Alternative Archivelog Destination

    Hi,
I am using Oracle 10.2.0.4 on AIX 5.3.
My database is in archivelog mode.
I have set the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1 parameter value to /u01/archives/
This is 200GB mount point and my daily archivelogs size is around 300GB. I want to set another location for archives so that once the first archive destination is full, then the alternative location could be used for archive logs.
Otherwise I am getting following error once the mount point is fill.
ARCH: Archival stopped, error occurred. Will continue retrying
    Mon Feb 22 09:27:02 2010
ORACLE Instance malik - Archival Error
    Mon Feb 22 09:27:02 2010
    ORA-16038: log 4 sequence# 10175 cannot be archived
    ORA-00001: unique constraint (.) violated
    Mon Feb 22 09:27:02 2010
What I know is that if we set multiple archive destinations then oracle write to these locations in parallel which means a copy of archive log will be avaialble on both mount points and double space will be utilized. My concern is if we could use one destination for archives and once it is full, then the alternative location be used for next archives.
    Waiting for kind response.
    Regards
    Farooq

    Anurag,
Please note that this is single instance database with no dataguad kind setup.
So should I only set following:
    LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1=/u01/archives
    LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2=/u02/archives
    alter system set log_archive_dest_state_1=enable;
    alter system set log_archive_dest_state_2=ALTERNATE;
This way oracle will write to destination one only and once it is filled it will start writing to destination2 right?
Please correct me if I am wrong.

  • Can a workflow steps and users for the steps be controlled by contributors?

Is it possible to have a workflow that allows contributors to select list of steps and users in the steps? The universal set of steps and users for steps can be defined in the designer mode. But the contributors can decide for a particular content item what steps need to be skipped and the users for the step. But atleast one approver step is mandatory. This is some strange requirement that our client is expecting. Is this possible?
    Regards,
    Pratap

    Hi Pratap,
Short answer: Yes. This has been possible since the Stellent 5.x days (and possibly earlier). We can help you with this if you need services - see our Workflow offerings here: http://bit.ly/b2Ydv6
Or you can do it yourself. For the details you should see "Setting Up Ad Hoc Step Users" in the workflow admin guide (pp 147, section 9-13) http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10316_01/cs/cs_doc_10/documentation/admin/workflow_guide_10gr3en.pdf
Remember that a "step" is just a container for a certain group of users to take action on certain kinds of content. So you can have one step but if you loop over it 3 times with a different set of users each time you have a defacto 3 step workflow.
    You need 2 things:
    1) the workflow plumbing for the selection of the next "step" (and/or group of users) in the workflow (tokens and subworkflows typically)
    2) a UI for the end users / contributors to actually make the selections.
For 1) you use tokens that will ultimately resolve to a list of user names who should take action. You might use names (e.g. bcripe) or aliases (e.g. The Legal Team) or other concepts that make sense to the end users who will be participating (e.g. capital expenditure review). Whatever you do the tokens will ultimately yield one or more user ids which become the step users.
For 2) you can use anything that will make those plumbing values available to the UCM workflow engine. Most common is using metadata fields. They're easy, can be displayed only during workflows (using rules and profiles), and fairly intuitive for most UCM users (if there are not too many!!!). However, you can just as easily write web services, BPEL tasks, or CIS integrations that take form or other triggered input from the user and pass those parameters back to the workflow engine. For more complex workflows this is often a good idea especially if you are dealing with people who are only casual users of UCM or who are interacting with content through another primary UI.
Either way, let us know what we can do to help. Workflows are a special passion to us here at Fishbowl and we've got supported software to prove it. http://bit.ly/95Rocu
