Setting jdk directory in batch file after installation

Hello,
Little problem : I need, under windows, to launch my application with a .bat cause i use the options -Xms and -Xmx of sun java compiler.
So i need to get the jdk directory and put it in the batch file to be sure java.exe will be found.
What could be a nice way to do this ? As nice, i mean i'd like the user don't edit the .bat to enter the path with keyboard.

you could program a dialog, and create the .bat - file after testing, whether the selection (in a fileDialog, isDirectory (), check for starting that jvm) is valid.
But this are two issues, independent from each other.
You may call java -Xmx ... with or without leading path.

  • Keep directory structure for extra files after installation

    I'm working on an AIR project in Flash CS5 that has some additional support files in a folder called "data".  In my publish setting, I included this folder.  When I run a test install of the AIR file, I no longer have a "data" folder in my installation directory.  How can I have the installer create this folder so I can access the support files?
    BTW, I'm on a Mac and only see the .app file after installation.  The support files will hold application preferences that need to be read and written to.

    Unfortunately, I am not able to reproduce the prodblem. To reproduce I added a folder called testFiles in the AIR Settings Window(In Included Files Section) shown below. And I got the same in Program Files when i installed the app.
    Am i doing anything different than you? BTW I am testing on Windows for now.

  • How to exit batch file after launching java application

    hello, I have created a simple java application and a batch file to launch the application. but when execute the batch file the application execute but the batch file still
    appear. I want to launch the application and immediately close the batch file after the application appears.
    Best Regards,
    Boulebtina

    In the batch script use the "START" command to start the program. To use it you need to have the script browse to the application directory first as shown below:
    c:
    cd MyApplication\ApplicationFolder
    START myApp.exe
    exitThis will start an application that is stored in C:\MyApplication\ApplicationFolder\myApp.exe. I use this quite a bit and works well for me.

  • Unable to set working directory (-2147024832) for some app installs

    I've found several drivers on a Dell Laptop that don't play well with others in MDT 2012, so I started making an application install package for them instead.  Most of them fail with an "unable to set working directory" error.  I checked
    the app install logs and they don't really make any sense to me.  I know the process as a whole works, because I can install .Net 4.0 runtimes without any problems using the same method.  The important bits of the ZTI App log are below.  Would
    be for any guidance on this, as I'm stumped and none of the searches on the exact errors are of much help.
    A sample error returned in the wizard is:

    I'm not familiar with how Dell does their client side software, but for the server-side software (my area of expertise), I've always done something like the following:
    I recommend running every application install in a VBScript/Powershell wrapper.  You get logging for the application back on your SLShare as well as its cleaner (you can replace Drivers A05 with A06 by changing the script, rather than editing the application
    in MDT).
    sApplicationName = "Dell 12G Chipset"
    oLogging.CreateEntry "Install-" & sApplicationName & ": Starting " & sApplicationName & " installation", LogTypeInfo
    '//Set Destination Folder
    sDestFolder = "c:\temp\"
    '//Set Source Install Directory
    sSourceDir = oUtility.ScriptDir
    sSourceDir = sSourceDir & "\Source"
    '//Check that folder exists, if not, create it.
    oLogging.CreateEntry "Install-" & sApplicationName & ": Check that " & sDestFolder & " exists.", LogTypeInfo
    if not oFSO.FolderExists (sDestFolder) then
    oFSO.CreateFolder sDestFolder
    End If
    '//Copy folder from MDT share to C:\Temp
    oLogging.CreateEntry "Install-" & sApplicationName & ": Copy from " & sSourceDir & " to " & sDestFolder, LogTypeInfo
    oFSO.CopyFolder sSourceDir, sDestFolder
    '//Sleep for 2 seconds to allow copy to finish
    wscript.sleep 2000
    sFile = sDestFolder & "Source\setup.exe"
    '// Check if file/folder exists
    If not oFSO.FileExists(sFile) then
    oLogging.CreateEntry "Install-" & sApplicationName & ": " & sFile & " was not found, unable to install " & sApplicationName & "", LogTypeError
    ZTIProcess = Failure
    Exit Function
    End if
    '// Create log entry to show file being run
    oLogging.CreateEntry "" & sFile & " -s", LogTypeInfo
    iRetVal = oUtility.RunWithHeartbeat("" & sFile & " -s")
    if (iRetVal = 0) or (iRetVal = 3010) then
    ZTIProcess = Success
    Else
    ZTIProcess = Failure
    End If
    wscript.sleep 15000
    '// Disable Zone Checks
    oEnv("SEE_MASK_NOZONECHECKS") = 1
    '//Folder Cleanup
    oFSO.DeleteFolder sDestFolder & "Source"
    I always copy any drivers that are installed after the fact (everything for me other than SAS/NIC drivers) to the C:\Temp as it can break.  I always update my NIC drivers during the build to the latest Dell software using their packs.  I try to
    not mess with my boot image unless I'm adding a new model that is not supported by the built-in drivers.

  • Finding Files after Installation of OS X 10.5.6

    Hi Everyone,
    My name is CheiAnn and I am a fairly new user of the Mac and definitely a newbie to this forum - or any forum. My sons have been trying to convince me to go to a Mac and after years of "nagging" I finally gave in and got this MacBook Pro. I just love it! But I fear I have lost all my files by installing the new OS X 10.5.6. I was told by two individuals at the Apple Store that I could leave all my files on the machine and that they would still be there. During installation I was not asked about saving and install vs. erasing and install. Someone please tell me I haven't lost all my files.
    Thanks,
    CheiAnn

    During installation I was not asked about saving and install vs. erasing and install.
    There are several options for installing a new OS (which is something different from installing an update to an existing one, like going from version 10.5.5 to version 10.5.6 of the same OS). Two of these, "Archive & Install" & "Upgrade" will not erase your existing document files; the "Erase & Install" option will.
    However, the default install option is never "Erase & Install" so unless you clicked the "Options" button during the install process & specifically chose this option (which will caution you about the consequences), your files should be safe.
    See the support document Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5: About installation options for a more complete explanation of these options & when they are used.
    But a little confusingly, the "Archive & Install" option has options of its own, & one of these does not integrate user and network settings into the new installation, instead leaving them in the archive, which is a folder called "Previous Systems." Don't worry, the user folders & settings are still there, just not in the normal locations. See Mac OS X: About the Archive and Install feature for more about this. The last section, "Additional Information" consists of links to more support documents. In the event that you did not choose the "Preserve User and Network Settings," the first of those links (How to get files from a previous home directory after Archive and Install) will tell you how to restore the items to their proper place.

  • Can I delete Adobe downloaded files after installation?

    I've  just successfully installed Production Premium CS6 upgrade to my PC. I still have all of the files downloaded from this installation and previous downloads (LS7.7, set up folders, etc..). I've backed up
    all of these files. Do I still need them on my computer? I'd like to free up the disk space they are taking, I'm assuming they are not used as part of the program. thanks.

    If the install went fine and you backed them up, it is safe to delete them. Just to make sure, I'd start each program. due to licensing restrictions some components only run serialized and if you ever used a trial of any of the products, there may be a "post-install install" required to activate some of these features like e.g. mochaAE. In the past this was the case for all the MPEG CoDecs, also, though that particular limitation should not apply for CS6.

  • PSE7 Missing exe.file after installation

    Hi,
    I purchased PSE7 from Adobe store this afternoonn. After download of PSE7_WIN_DE.exe and extracting into the desktop installation folder - installation of PSE started and finished. But - there is no exe file to start PSE, not even in the program folder and the new created shortcuts by the installer are empty (by showing the windows root exe symbol, not the PSE). I have removed and installed it for serveral times now, always with the same effect - no exe. file. Can someone help me out?
    Thanks

    If you have not done so already, turn off your security software and try installing again.  Else, you can call Adobe for assistance.  They will not charge for the support since you have an installation problem with the current version of PSE.

  • Where to put AntiXssLibrary.dll file after installation of BPC Server

    Hi Experts,
         In the installation of BPC, that is after the installation of BPC Servers there comes another step "Installing the Anti-Cross Site Scripting Library"....The document tells us to download "AntiXssLibraryV1.5Installer.msi" and run the setup. Once it gets done the final step says "Copy AntiXssLibrary.dll to %BPC_PROGRAM%\Websrvr\Web\bin on both the BPC Application server and the BPC Web server." I can't understand where i should paste the file on Application Server and I could paste it in "C:\BPC\WebSvr\Web\Bin" what is the other location I should put the file.
    I am installing BPC on single server...Please help me out...

    Hello,
    Please use the follow link
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=EFB9C819-53FF-4F82-BFAF-E11625130C25&displaylang=en
    to download an installation kit for Microsoft Anti-Cross Site Scripting Library.
    In this way you will not have any more the problem where to put a dll and what you have to do with it.
    This program should be used into application server it is not necessary to put it into db server.
    If you have problem regarding unzip of dimensions then you have to check if you have into client side into C:\Program Files\BPC the dll xceedzip.dll and you have to check if this was correct register. (using regsvr32).
    I hope this help to understand what is that dll and what you have to do to complete the installation of SAP BPC server.

  • Unable to open .pdf files after installation of 9.1.3

    Hiya. I'm using XP SP3 w/Firefox 3.5.3 and IE 8.
    When I try to open a .pdf file from Firefox (and I assume IE, which I never touch with a 10 foot pole), Adobe Reader opens, but then a blank dialog box (with a graphic of a ? in a bubble) pops up and all I can do is click the "OK" button and it closes Reader completely.
    I've restarted Firefox, rebooted my computer, no Adobe products were running when I did the installation, and no errors occured during the installation.
    I can open .pdf files from my HDD just fine, only when I try to open them from a browser window does the problem occur.
    Help?

    That's all it does.
    Like I said, I can open .pdf  files that I've saved to my HDD, but opening them from the web just does this.

  • Why is CS3 not recoginzing RAW files after installation of Lightroom 5

    I have not used my CS3 Extended software for RAW files in a couple of months. I recently installed Lightroom 5 and now CS3 will not open Camera Raw files. The error message is that the image is the wrong type of document. Anyone know what is going on with this situation?

    Does that mean that my ACR for CS3 was replaced by the on for Lightroom 5 when I installed it recently? I didn’t realize it was a separate program. I knew Bridge was but I assumed it was common to Bridge.
    BTW. Thanks for your response.  Thinking about joining PS CC but not sure how that works. I prefer stand alone so that I don’t need Internet constantly.

  • Can't find .msi file after 1.4.2.05 install

    I'm looking for the .msi file to do a remote installation of java through Active Directory but I cannot find it. The java documentation says that it should reside in the "Application Data"\{-long-number-} directory, but this directory is not present after installation.
    I've tried installing in both local accounts and domain accounts, I've tried searching for the file during installation.. the file (or directory) just isn't there.
    Does anyone have a solution to my problem?

    Hi guys .. Well, I couldn't see the MSI in the UUID folder - could not even see the UUID folder. Is this before the install completes? (That is, while MS Installer is still holding the install set?) I note that Lagerweij is actually talking about _05 and not _06.

  • How to execute a batch file on different remote server using TFS Build

    I have a build server and have 2 web servers. I am deploying using TFS Builds. Now, I have a requirement to execute a batch file which is kept on these 2 web servers. i.e. C:\MyBatch\CreateMe.bat
    After my build is successful, I need to execute this batch from the build server.
    Note, I cannot make any shared folder.

    Hi Sameer,
    Thanks for your post.
    What’s the version of your TFS?
    How do you deploy solution using TFS Build, run MSBuild deploy command or using Release Management?
    That C:\MyBatch\CreateMe.bat file stay on your two web server machines separately?
    If you want execute this bat file on your two web server machines separately using build process template, you need configure your web server machine as build agent, then add the InvokeProcess activity in build process template to run the bat file on build
    agent machine after build, please refer to Hari’s answer reply in this post:

  • Oracle instance always in 'shutdown' phase one day after installation

    I have Windows 2003 Server (SP1) and Oracle database 10g release 2 installed.
    On the installation day, after completing the installation everything worked just fine.
    One day after that and on, everytime I boot up my OS the Oracle database instance is always in the 'shutdown' phase (though the listener is up).
    So I have to manually start the database in 'open' mode.
    The Enterprise Manager Console tells me that "TNS:Listener does not know the SID in the connect descriptor." This is strange, because I didn't change anything in the listener.ora and tnsnames.ora files after installation.
    Could someone help me handle this problem?
    Is this inherent in Oracle database 10g release 2?
    P.S.: I have been using release 1 for some time and this never happened even months after installation.
    Many thanks,
    (Mario Andretti)

    Please verify that you can get the database open manually.
    If you can, then I suspect the problem is with the Enterprise Manager configuration. I believe the Enterprise Manager 10gR2 uses a different port by default than 10gR1. Depending on how you did the upgrade, you may need to look at the old port (or the new port) instead of the one you are using.
    Further, if the database runs OK, and the problem is isolated to Enteprise Manager, you might be able to resolve the problem using emca (EM Config Assistant). In which case, I'd check the docs for further info, as I'm definitely a novice at emca.
