Setting management service password at installation time

Installing GC 10.2.0.3.0 on Ora Ent Linux 4 updt 8. Things going nicely until it prompts for management service password.
I give it 'T!0#LkMoU0'. It rejects, saying it must be at least 5 characters and begin with an alphabetic. Looks to my like my password meets those requirements. Is there any chance there are other problems, like not accepting special characters, but the error message fails to mention? I finally got it to accept 'Ab1Cd2De3'.

  • Set An Access Password on My Time Capsule to Require Password Before Granting Access to a Device?

I just purchased a 2TB Time Capsule and connected it to my Cable Modem as a bridge.  I want to prevent unauthorized devices from connecting to my network.  How can I configure the TC so it requires unknown/unauthorized devices to provide a password to access my network?
I appreciate any help/insight any of you can provide.

Then the cable modem must also be the router.. if the TC is in bridge it has no routing and no control of the network. It has to be the main router to actually do anything in the network other than exist.
How can I configure the TC so it requires unknown/unauthorized devices to provide a password to access my network?

Does this mean to the hard disk.. You can set a disk password.
If you mean your local network, there is no password for ethernet access.. only wireless.
Set WPA2 Personal password for wireless.
There is very limited options on the TC even in router mode.. you cannot really block access.
Also all security on the TC is illusionary since physical access to the TC requires a simple press of the reset and poof.. all passwords disappear.

  • Management Services Response Time; per Role or per Deployment? Broken?

Management Services, Alert on Response Time, appears to be incorrect.
Can you help me understand why the Response Time charts for each Role in a deployment are identical? is this a bug?
    My Testing
I have 3 Roles in my Cloud Service Deployment. A Web Role, a worker Role, and an extra Worker Role for this test.
Web Role: Light load 0 to 10 requests per hour.
Worker Role: Generates massive net work traffic. Constantly making web service calls to 3rd party data services & running a Distributed Azure Data Cache.
Extra Worker Role:  No load. I added it to test this problem. It does nothing other than respond to Management Services Alert pings.
I created 3 Alerts to Track response time. One to each of the 3 roles, testing from within the same data center; San Jose to San Jose. Then added 3 more to test from Singapore to San Jose.
    The Result (over several Months)
    A. The San Jose charts are identical for each role.
    B. The Singapore charts are identical for each role.
    C. The set of Singapore charts are very similar to the San Jose set of charts. With slight variations likely due to internet latency & extra load at Singapore.
    D. (most Important). The latency is directly correlated to the network load created by the Worker Role. When I turn it off or throttle it, Response Time on all boxes drops. When working at "full speed" network response time rises
    to 10 - 30 secs. (very bad)
    Conclusion
The Network Monitoring Response Time Alert is not working as designed. It does not show the Response Time for that Role. But seems to be displaying the Response Time for the whole deployment.
    My Request
Can you assist me to understand if this is "By Design". If my testing is flawed? or what is going on.
    My Goal
Alert the Azure dev team to this so that maybe they can fix it to function as I expected it to. (or for them to explain why my expectations are unreasonable.)
    Why is this important?
Poor Network Perf is a showstopper bug that is preventing us from moving into production. I may be able to solve this with multiple instances. But as I lack the granularity to track even at the Role level. I'm stuck.

    Thank you for your reply.
I forgot to update this with the answer.
It turned out that Azure Portal's Create Alert/monitoring UI has a bug.
The monitoring service is only capable of pining your public endpoints. ie: your Web Roles. Yet it lets you think you can create an Alert to monitor any of the roles within your solution. To make things worse, it shows a chart that suggests it actually is
pinging your worker roles, when it is actually only pinging the public Web Role.
That is why all the Roles in your solution display identical metrics regardless of their load. Even stopping your worker roles will not affect their ping response times.
If your worker role fails, Azure Alerts don't tell you about it.
NB: Using Application Insights to create alerting does not have this issue. But only because it doesn't attempt to monitor your web roles, not because it can alert you to any issues.

  • How to set up password to lock Time Machine files?

    Hello Friends at Apple Community,
I would like to know how to set up a password to lock Time Machine backup files as it is in Drobo backup server. I have two Time Machine backups for Mac Pro - first backup performed and saved backup created by Time Machine in one of hard drives inside Mac Pro. I am also performing other Time Machine backup externally to Drobo - just to play it safe. But want to set up a lock password on that backup file only for Drobo. I believe the OS X Mountain Lion version 10.8.4. at the moment. I am aware that there is a small update of 10.8.5 as I havent updated it yet... until Time Machine backup is done successfully.
    Please advise. Thanks in advance!

I've lost the password of 1721 router. Unfortunately I've set "no service password-recovery".
I've tried cisco documentation. When I arrive at the boostrap I press crtl-break and the modem ask me "would you like to reset to default factory?" ok I press "y" but it doesn't work! I'm using a usb serial cable adaptor and TeraTerm.
    Thanks.

Not without deleting the entire configuration. That's the whole purpose of that configuration option.

I cannot get Facetime or IMessage to work on my IPad.  It isn't recognizing my Apple ID or password.  I have tried to change my password a couple times and it still keeps kicking me out of it.  What am I doing wrong?  My id and password work for everything else!
    Can anyone help?

Settings\iCloud - Account is your Apple ID appearing here and is the place for your password full of stars.  The password needs to be the password for the email account - not your Apple password.
Once you have checked this go to Icloud main page and ensure mail is on.
Go to home screen and tap on Mail App - check that you can access your mail and your .me.com email account.
The check settings\General\Restrictions and ensure facetime is On  if restrictions is enabled - alternatively turn restrictions off if you wish.
Both services you require run through the cloud and need an active .me.com account to set up initially.  the default account can be changed from your @me.com later if you prefer.
Also note that once iMessage is active - go to settings\iMessage and ensure your Apple id main email is listed in the Receive at Field.

  • Setting Users for my managed services and application pools

I setup my SharePoint 2013 test environment and I developed an intranet site. Now inside my test environment I set all the application pool & managed services to use Farm user account for simplicity. Now I want to setup my UAT environment and I want
to follow the best practice for managing users and service accounts.
I have read the “Core Solutions Of MS SharePoint 2013” book, and it have listed the following table:-
First question. What is the difference when saying that the user “Must be a member of the Farm Administrators group” Or must be “Domain user account”?
Second question , when I first install SharePoint 2013 a lot of applications pools and managed services such as excel services , access services, Performance Point Service Application, business
data connectivity and Machine Translation Service  will be automatically created , so which account they will be using and should I define separate accounts for each managed service ?
Third question. What is the recommendation for SharePoint 2013 regarding service accounts?, to use separate account for each manage service, for example one user for excel services , second user
    for access services ,etc?
Fourth question. For example the documentation mentioned that the Required roles for the excel services is “Domain user account.”, but what permissions this domain user need to have ?
thanks for any help, and sorry so adding multiple questions inside the same post.

Q #1: This means the user must be part of the Farm Admins group. Every user is a Domain User.
Q #2: Generally those should be using a single Domain User account in a single Application Pool to minimize memory usage and reduce unnecessary complexity.
Q #3: The less Application Pools the better. E.g. One account/App Pool for all Web Applications, one account/App Pool for all Service Applications, and then Central Administration is obviously separate.
Q #4: You don't need to specifically give this type of user any sort of rights

I am going crazy changing passwords that do not get recognized by the different services when it is time to use them, until I am asked to change the password again, starting the vicious cycle again: i need to use the password, it does not get recognized three times, then the system asks me to change it again, and again, and I am stuck!! Is there any fix for this "glitch?

The first thing I would suggest is for you to go to the folder containing your catalog, using your system browser. There will be a folder that has the extension .lrdata. Delete that folder, and then try to start Lightroom. If that doesn't work, replace your catalog with your most recent backup.

what I did wrong? how to start WLS server?

    Hi,
First of all with EM 12.1.0.x any version you are not required to install wls separately, we have single installer for em and wls. Is there any specific reason you installer wls separately?
Coming back to your issue: can you check
    %OMS_HOME%\BIN>emctl istart oms completes successfully.
    %OMS_HOME%\BIN>emctl istop oms completes successfully.
Also open an SR with Oracle support and share the number. We should debug such issue through SR so that we can share logs and come find a root cause.

  • Can't start Daemon Manager service on CSM 3.1

    Hello dear experts!
After i've installed CSM 3.1 on customer server i found that CSM Daemon Manager service can't start. Next error log appears in MS Event Viewer:
"Faulting application dmgtd.exe, version 1.0.0.1, faulting module dmgtd.exe, version 1.0.0.1, fault address 0x00011f96."
After these i tried to start this service manually, but i got next error:
"Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"
I did software installation remotely using Microsoft Terminal connection to server.
I have exactly the same problem with Cisco LMS 2.6 which i've installed on another server. Daemon Manager can't start there too.
Could you give me advices what i need to do?

I tried to reboot server and wait for Windows to load services much times, but it did not help my any way. I found error reason: Daemon Manager couldn't start because there was no swap space on my server. I checked syslog file and found the alert. After i tuned swap settings this service started. But there is one interesting fact during CSM and LMS installation: though swap space setting on my server was as "No paging file", but CSM (LMS) installer shows me that i have sufficient swap space. So always check log files (C:\Program Files\CSCOpx\log) if you can't start your CSM or LMS.

  • Can I remove all but the last "Mac OS X Server certificate management" application password from my System Keychain?

I am slowly nursing a broken Montain Lion Server back to health. The problems started with a name change days ago then went sour, probably because of some stuff in the keychain that tripped the commands up.
I have now a trusted Root CA in my System Keychain which has signed my wildcard Certificate for my domain and all my services are protected by this wildcard certificate. Creating and installing that certificate helped me back (slowly) but there are still problems to solve
I also have set the com.apple.servermgrd identity preference to this (now trusted) wildcard certificate a few minutes ago
I am busy cleaning as much as possibe of junk from my Keychains to improve stability, of course without damaging things (I hope)
There are 19 "Mac OS X Server certificate management" application passwords in my System Keychain.
12 are from 9 days ago when I installed this clean OS X Mountain Lion Server for the first time, created within a minute during server install.
1 from 6 minutes later, maybe when I turned on a Service
2 are from that day, but 2 and 3 hours later (also probably because of something I did in Server.app, like enabling a service)
1 from 2 days later (probably when I tried to change the server name/domain)
1 from again 5 days later (probably when I tried to change the server name/domain again)
1 from yesterday, when I changed the servername
1 from today, when I changed the server name again.
What are these application passwords for and can I safely remove all but the last one? What are they for?

I went ahead and remove them a month ago. So far, there don't seem to be any issues. As long as you double-triple-check that the hash-number in those "Mac OS X Server certificate management" keychains _aren't_ in the filename of any of the *.pem files in the /etc/certificates folder, you can delete those orphan keychains.
