Setting the container element values

Hi Experts,
While I am trying to set the container element values, it is resulting in an error.
We are designing a leave request WF using WS12300111. We are using ABAP classes.
Inside a method, I have written the following code :
swc_set_element container 'PERNR' lv_pernr.
It is giving an error. It says 'SWC_SET_ELEMENT' not defined.
First of all i would like to know if we can use this statement in ABAP classes. If we have to set a value of a container element, how can we go about doing the same in ABAP classes.
Kindly guide me on the same.

Hi,
No, you cannot use those in the ABAP classes. (EDIT: Or you can, put it doesn't make really any sense.)
Just make exporting parameters into your method. Put your variables (PERNR, etc.) in those. Then do the binding from method to the task container (in the task editor). This way you will get the values from a method to the task container.

map this importing element with the element in the workflow container.

Container element value late update in ECC6

Hi All,
I have a problem with container element "RECEIVED" which has incomplete value. I'm using function SAP_WAPI_READ_CONTAINER (simple container) in my custom object ZBUS2081 method priceapproval. When 2nd person want to approve the workitem, the container value of element name "RECEIVED" only has previous approval person instead of table that has 2 line values (previous person who has already approved and 2nd person who want to approve this workitem).
We have upgrade our SAP version from 4.7 into ECC6/ERP6, which in 4.7 version this container element returned table of 2 line values.
Since the container element value has late to update the value, then it did not recognise as a final approval at the end of workflow step and raise an error for agent determination. If there is any related SAP note, please let me know.

            Your RECEIVED container stores approver details.
            Please check the binding between method container to task container to workflow container.Imperfect binding could be a reason why approver details are not populated properly.It seems your container is multiline container.Make sure the method,task and workflow containers are multiline enabled.
           Check at SWO1, whether the PRICEAPPROVAL method behaves as expected and if you are using rule for agent determination, you have to check the rule at PFAC as well as binding details.Also check at workflow log.

Container element value does not display

Hi,
I am facing a strange issue.
There is one step in my custom workflow which sends sap mail. The subject of the e-mail has a container element &notif&. When I check the workflow log this container element gets set with a value just before this step and so I expect it to be displayed in the e-mail .
But the issue is i am getting the mail in my inbox which says ....&notif& ......
i.e Instead of displaying the value of this container it displays the text &notif&.
The same container element is used in the same e-mail message body where it displays correctly.
has anyone faced this kind of an issue before?

Yes it is set to Expression.
This mail step was not created from scratch.
I just changed a few texts in the subject of this Mail step in an already existing workflow without touching the container element in the subject. But after i did this change and tested teh workflow, the container element no longer displayed any value in the subject, but it does continue to show value in the message body.
Any suggestions to solve towards this issue will be extremely helpful.

Container Element Value in Runtime

I am somewhat new to Workflow.
I have an error status on WorkFlow, for the reason that the value is not retrieved for the Container Element in the Workflow Condition. How can we check that whether the value is being retrieved by the container element in the Runtime?

Hi Jaideep,
When the state of the workflow is set to errror, please go to the workflow log in 'List with technical details' mode (cube button).
Select the step that is in error and open the 'Step History' tab.
Here you would come to know the exact error that is being encountered.
Also you can debug the BO methods if called by setting the method as foreground and putting a breakpoint in the method.
The method would go into debugger when executed and there you can debug it.

Set a container element inside class to exit a loop

Hi,
I want to set a container element inside a class to exit a loop.
The element is marked as import/export parameter and the binding from the task to the container exists as well.
The loop has a condition &finish& = X but I cannot exit the loop. Looks like the value gets never updated in the container.
When i am using a container operation to set the element its working but i want to do this out of my method in the class.
Is it not possible to change a container element inside a loop without using a container operation?

Hi,
Using the container operation is a good method to solve the problem. But if you intend to do that in the method coding itself then you will have to have it as the export parameter of the method. You can view all the import and export parameters of a method by going to the Business Object Builder (SWO1) and then choose the method and click on the "Parameters" Button. Once you are done with the interface of the method use that method in the workflow builder as a task and in the binding there are two rows. One for the import that occurs just below the container elements and the export parameters appear below the import in a separate window. Make sure you have the binding set there too as this is where you can transfer the container elements back to the workflow container from the task container and it should work. Maybe you are missing that in the binding.

Pass Container Element Value Dynamically

Hi Experts,
We are facing an issue with Workflows. Whenever I restart a WF that has already ended up in Error, I need to pass it Certain Container Element Values Dynamically as it restarts the same WF again with the same Container values and it again ends up in Error. Is it possible that I can change these values during Runtime.
I have searched few SAPNotes also but could not find some Solution. Is anyone has worked on this Scenario before please respond.
Is this Possible.. Because this is the only way how we can allow that background Process to work.

Set the default field value to transaction code field, when calling from WD

Hi all,
Can we pass the value in a input field of a standard transaction calling from WD application. Suppose we are calling a transaction VA03 in an external window, then how will be pass the value in the VBAK_VBELN screen field.
Is there any way to pass the value to this transaction field. I have also tried out to set the parameter ID 'AUN' for VA03 transaction VBELN field. But it did not work for me.
Is there any way to set the default field value to transaction code field, when calling from WD?
Please suggest, if anyone have any idea.

I open an ifsshell and move to a directory.
Do something. Come back in 10 minites and the shell has timed
out. Have to logout and log back in and move to the directory
again.

I assume that you want to assigne a value to a container element you have two possible ways.
1. Open SWDD Txn give the workflow template number.
2. At left side bottomm you will find the workflow conatiner on the screen.
3. Declare a element by double clicking there and on the new subscreen you will find a tab with INITIAL VALUE click on it and specify what evre the value that you want to save in the conatiner element. ( Coz we declared in the conatiner of the workflow so we call it as workflow conatiner element)
The other way is during run time you want to assign the valule then you ca make use of a standard workflow step CONTAINER OPERATION by using this step you can assign the value at runtime.

How to set the parameter ID value for a range

I am trying to call transaction KSB1 (Display actual line items for cost center) by supplying all the default values for the selection options/parameters and skipping the selection screen from the calling program. However, for the cost center range, both HIGH and LOW field have the same PID (i.e. KOS). Same thing for the cost element range. When I set the value for PID "KOS", only the low value got populated.
I tried to pass a BDC table to the
CALL TRANSACTION 'KSB1' USING bdc_tab
, but the PID used before takes higher priority so the bdc_tab values got overwritten by the PID values for those fields.
Does anybody know how to find or set the PID for a selection range? I need PID for Cost center range, cost element range and the period (PID="VPE").

by using SUBMIT command u have to <b>RKAEP000</b> this program along with the selection screen.

How to set the default context value for flexfield in OAFramework pages

I have a page which contains a contexxt value field i.e Flexfields
To select the context value we have to select the value from drop down
So Here we want to display the context value immediately when the page is called

You can set the Attribute category view attribute to the Flexfield context value and call prepareforRendering in the flex bean. Check the dev guide for details.

Possible to set the Created_by column value for File Browse?

I'm using database account authentication and then a user gets to upload a file. Then my stored procedure reads the file. I was investigating a problem, happened to search the apex_workspace_files view and noticed the created_by column is always set to APEX_PUBLIC_USER for the files my users upload. Is there some way I can set that value when they log in, so I can track who actually did the upload?

I was just using the standard File Browse item, so getting the blob from the workspace view. Though I've seen notes here about loading to your own table, what I had seemed to work (and was done) fairly well. There were just these little features I wanted to use...

Dave, I'm not sure which stored procedure you're suggesting I add the apex_custom_auth.get_username value to? I hoped that the internal File Browse routine would pick up the get_username value automatically instead of the application definition Public User value.

Setting the XML tag value in Java script

   I am trying to set a XML tag value in the initialize event of a text field.. The code works fine in FormCalc but I needed it to work in java script.
     FormCalc:
     $record.prospectApplication.typeName = "namedInsured";
     Java Script:
     xfa.record.prospectApplication.typeName = "namedInsured";
     The above JavaScript does not work. Can any one help on this?

Hi Srini,
In JavaScript you don't get any default properties so you need to say;
xfa.record.prospectApplication.typeName.value = "namedInsured";
That is assign the value to the "value" property not the dataValue object.

How do I set the Checkbox Export value to numeric?

I am attemting to analyze the data in my forms. In order to do so, I am exporting the data into a spreadsheet. There are about 50 check boxes in the form that I am tabulating. The default export values are "Yes" and "Off". My preferred values are 1 and 0, which greatly simplify analysis of the data. I can set the "Yes" value to "1", but I can't find a way to set the "Off" value to "0". As it stands, I have to go through the list and delete all "Off" values to have them work in my spreadsheet.
How do I create a numeric value on the check box? Is there a more graceful way of analyzing data from forms? Am I missing something.
Here are some recommendations. By default, make the checkbox export 1 and 0. When the export value for a checkbox is set to a numeric value, set the unchecked value to 0. Provide a place to set the export value of an unchecked checkbox.

You can't change the default "Off" value of a check-box. Just write a macro or script to replace all the instances of "Off" with "0". Shouldn't be too complicated... Another option is to use radio-buttons and set their values to 0 and 1. Set the "0" button as selected by default and you're guaranteed to get one of those values in your output (since it's not possible to "unselect" a radio-button group).
