Setting up CF mail server to connect to ISP mail server

I would like to setup a testing evironment and use my ISP's
mail server to test and create CF mail applications.
When I tried connecting to the ISP's mail server which is
"smtp.comcast.net " I received the following message from
CF admin "Connection Verification Failed". I also tried
entering my user name and password before the server name
(e.g.: [email protected]:[email protected]
What would cause the communication failure from the CF server
to the ISP's mail server?
If I cannot get this to run what alternatives do I have?
I am using WinXP pro. Can I install a mail server on my local
machine and configure CF admin to connect
to the mail server on my local machine?

You can install the SMTP server on your computer.
Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove
Windows Components >
Internet Information Services > Details . check the SMTP
Service checkbox
Then use localhost as the mail server.

  • How to set up my mail server

I have a Mac Mini with Mac OS X Lion Server 10.7.2 at home.  I'm trying to move away from a Windows SBS 2003 with MS Mail Exchange 2003.  Because I learned this stuff by setting up the Windows Server, I am trying to follow a similar approach with the Mac Server. (I understand I may have to re-train may brain.)  I set up the Mac Mini with a local domain. My setup is primarily for family use, so I did not see a need for registering a public domain.  (I've had the Windows setup running since 2003 and all has been fine with that setup.)  We have several desktops, and laptops around the house, so I want for everyone to be able to log in to any desktop/laptop they find and still be able to read/send e-mails under their own mail account and keep the mail folder structure they have created.  I'm trying for Mac Mail Server to receive all e-mail for all users (mail is provided by our ISP - Verizon.net; some users have more than one e-mail address), for clients to pull mail from the Mac Mail Server (via Mac Mail, or MS Outlook), the clients would send mail ) via the configured SMTP locally, and all the mail forlders to synchronize back to the Mac Mail Server for when the user logs in from another machine.  Is that possible?  If so, how?  I recall that in Windows SBS 2003 I configured a POP Connector that receives all the mail for all the users and I designated a domain user to send the mail to.  MS Exchange would take care of sychronizing the mail folders between the client connection and the mail server.  I bought the Mac Mini, a Time Capsule and an iMac to start my transition, but I'm not sure I'll be able to duplicate what I had with MS Exchange.

Sorry, I know it is more a microsoft problem, but it happened when I tried to set up my icloud mail on my pc.

  • How to set up a mail server with a private DNS and relay over a public mail

How to set up the mail server that we can send and pick up emails inside and outside?
Our private network has the DNS name dnsname1.private.
We have our privat DNS Server and he can forward requests to outside over our router.
Our public emails are hosted by an internet provider. This dns name is dnsname2.com and dnsname2.org.
How we have to set up our mail server that we can pick up our emails from our public dnsname2.com?
And when we write an email how we have to set up it that the dnsname is dansname2.com and not dnsname1.private?

If you want to move your mailservice to your own (internal) server, start by making sure you can recieve traffic on port TCP 25 (SMTP). Some ISPs blocks this port, especially on "non business" connections.
Can you send mail from your LAN directly to where your mail is hosted using port 25 TCP or do you have to relay via your ISP?
You have a static public IP?

  • How to set-up voice mail to email on Unity Connection 8.6

    Hi all,
I need to set-up voice mail to email notification on a Unity Connection 8.6 MCS78XX server.  I've read several existing threads related to the subject, but have had somewhat of a difficult time finding a posting that provided a simplified approach with either or both of the options listed below.  I'm hoping and asking to receive a response (or responses) that will break it down.
    The intent is to either:
     A) Have new voice mail messages sent to end-user's e-mail inboxes as .wav files.
     B) Have notifications be e-mailed to end-user's inboxes whenever there is a new voice mail.
Cisco Unity Single Inbox is not the preferred method at this point.
I thank you all for your input and assistance!

Manish, if I may... I read the 2nd thread and it mentions the addition of the Exchange IP address under the smart host field... and it appears that the Exchange will also need the IP address of the Unity Connection server for relay...
question: under the Unity SMTP config options --> Server --> SMTP Domain --> can/should this be changed over to the Unity's IP address in an environment where the Unity Server's name is not resolvable?  The Unity Server in this case is not configured with DNS...  please advise
    Thank you again!

  • Setting up a mail server on a 2010 MacMini Server

    Hi,
I am having great difficulty in setting up my Mail server on my 2010 MM server.   Setup is as follows:
    1.  Domain name hosted by dyndns.org with mail forwarding setup to forward incoming mail to my mail address <[email protected]>
    2.  Outgoing mail is being sent from the server via my local ISP using their relay server
    3.  Mail Server settings in Server app shown as "Provide mail for: mail.domainname.org"
    4.  Authentication set to: "Relay outgoing mail through ISP"
    5.  dyndns.com confirm that the domain host side is set up correctly.
    6.  Local ISP confirms that local relay service is set up correctly.
Problem is Mail account cannot be activated in Apple Mail.    email setup details in my server Mail app are as follows:
         Account Type:    POP
         Email address:   [email protected]
         Full Name:         my name
         Incoming Mail Server:   mail.domainname.org
          User Name:      admin
Password:        password on the dynsdyn.com srever
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):   Local ISP providers mail relay service
Has anyone any idea where this setup is wrong?   Also, I am unable to find a server manual for OSX 10.8.4 server.  Does anyone know where I can get this?
Any help you can give is most appreciated.
    Thank in advance
    Roger

    Hi Linc,
For the email address on the server, I create the account in my Apple mail in the normal way.  I fill in the details shown on the accounts setup panel as shown in my original post above. I then click on the "Enable this account" button but it does not connect to anywhere.
For the Server setup, this is also described in points 3. and 4. above.
The result is that the server seems to be setup properly but this may not be the case, which is why I asked my questions.
Sorry I cannot be more explicit but if you are willing to ask deeper questions that might point to the problem, I would be more that delighted to supply the answers if I can.

  • I can not connect to my work e-mail using both regular e-mail set-up and mail 2003 (work has Outlook 2003).  I get the error message "no internet connection- as soon as a connection is made it will switch back".  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Why can't I connect to my work e-mail (Outlook 2003) using either the regular e-mail account set-up or Mail 2003? Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have yet to find an email server that does not work with Mail.app. Your solution will be to configure its ports and send/receive protocol according to the email server's requirements.
Try the Zimbra support forums. I found this excerpt from a relevant post:
    http://www.zimbra.com/forums/users/46221-mac-mail-app-dont-work-outside-company. html
in which the following ports were suggested
    ports 25, 465, and/or 487 to send mail.
port 143/993 to retrieve mail over IMAP

  • Mail can't connect to isp server. provider says it's an internal issue

mail can't connect to isp server. provider says it's an internal issue, mail is set up corectly.

Are connecting exclusively through IMAP or through POP?   IMAP automatically stores all the e-mails on the server.
POP gets them onto your Mac.   The advantage of IMAP, unless you desire, you are not downloading all the attachments to your hard drive, and bandwidth issues of downloading slowing you down with lots of large attachments are avoided.   The other advantage with IMAP, you can try a web based e-mail to see if your e-mail program missed downloading everything.    http://www.mail2web.com/ is my favorite web based e-mail.  I recommend at least trying it to see if it will let you see your e-mail.  Any custom folders will be invisible, but at least anything in your inbox should be visible and usable.
Are you using any other e-mail software for forwarding, such as gmail?

  • Is it possible to set up OS X Server Mail to use SSL?

Like it says....  I'd like to be able to set up my main clients to connect to OS X Server's mail server with SSL.  I've run into a few rumblings in Server about SSL and certificates; I haven't installed a certificate at this point, but I don't see any place where I'd be able to install a cert if I had one.  Any thoughts out there?

    Jim,
In Server App, click on your server under Hardware in the sidebar > Settings > SSL Certificate, click Edit.
If you've not installed an SSL certificate yet, you should see a self signed certificate using the hostname of your server.  You can choose to use the certificate for all of your services, or use custom settings to choose which services will use SSL.  As an example, you may wish to not use SSL on for your web server, depending on your needs.
In order to deliver mail to your users and in order for your server to communicate reliably with other SMTP servers, you'll need a valid, signed certificate installed.
We use GoDaddy for our SSL needs, and I'd recommend using them.
In order to get SSL up and running, here's what you'll need to do:
Purchase an SSL certificate - you'll need something called a CSR, which is text pasted from your server.
Generate a CSR in order to replace the self-signed certificate you have with a valid SSL certificate.  In order to do this, go to Server App > Hardware > Your server > Settings > Edit SSL settings > Manage Certificates from the popup menu with the gear icon > click on your certificate > Generate CSR from the popup with the gear icon.
    Copy the CSR text
Using your SSL provider's web site, paste the CSR text into the appropriate field when you're requesting the SSL certificate.  The CSR should spit out a certificate with the appropriate hostname of your server.
Your certificate will be issued once you confirm it with an email link that should come from the SSL provider.
With an approved certificate, you need to download it.  If you're using GoDaddy, slect OS X Server 10.6 as the format for the downloaded certificate.
When you get your certificate downloaded, take the signing authority certificate (not the one that has your hostname as the file name) and get ready to drop it into the Keychain app
Open the Keychain app and unlock.
Click on System in the sidebar and then Certificates.
Drag the signing authority certificate to your Keychain
using the Server App > Hardware > Your server > Settings > Edit SSL settings > Manage Certificates from the popup menu with the gear icon > click on your certificate > Replace Certificate with Signed or Renewed Certificate
Drag your certificate (the one that has your hostname as the file name) to the popup in Server App.
Apply the certificate and that should be good.
    Restart for good measure.
Hope this helps.  If you've got questions, post them and I'll see if I can help.
    Chris

I am trying to set up a mail account but I get a warning that my password cannot be sent securely to the server.  How do I correct this so that I can set up my email account?

    1. If you haven't tried this already, just delete the user account entirely, and then try setting it up again.
    2. To find the permissions file:
         a. hold down the option key
         b. go to the Go menu in the finder
         c. scroll down to Library and open it
         d. in Library, go to Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Preferences
         e. drag it to the trash and restart.
    3. if that doesn't work, go to Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access. In the Keychain Access menu, do Keychain First Aid, and repair.
This should keep you busy for a while.
