Setting up e-mail on iPhone 4S from Cox.

I am trying to set up email utilizing Cox for my iPhone 4S. I have followed their steps verbatim from this website <http://ww2.cox.com/residential/sandiego/support/internet/article.cox?articleId=% 7B133b69d0-845d-11df-6baf-000000000000%7D#Auto> but it says the password is incorrect. Any known solutions?

Just an update, I checked to make sure all the settings are correct, and they are, it just looks like the iphone is unable to save my outgoing mail username and password. As soon as I back out of it, it just resets them to blank.

  • Setting up e-mail on iphone + Macbook

If I have an e-mail account set up on BOTH my iPhone 4 AND on my Macbook (Entourage) will the e-mails go to BOTH my computer and my phone, or if I check my e-mail on my phone, will those e-mails not show up on my computer when I go check my e-mail there later?
The reason I ask is I tend to read e-mails on my phone, but respond to them with my computer.
    Thanks,
    Ben

With e-mail servers like that is is best to ask your teacher or the admin of the server

  • How do you make all outgoing mail on iPhone come from one default address?

I have multiple Apple devices which include laptop, iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 4s.  I use several email accounts for my business.  How do you make the default outgoing email address one the iPhones one email address like you can on the laptop?  I want the outgoing email address to be the same on all devices.

Thank you.  I think I got it for the 4 but not for the 4S.  In mail, contacts, calendars, do you choose default account?  Also, there does not appear to be a choice like this for the icloud.  How do you change the default on it?  The best I can see is icloud to account to advanced to mail to icloud account information.  On that screen there is a box that says allow sending from and the only choices you have are the icloud account and me account.  I do not see how to add another account if that is the right section.  I don't want the icloud or the me to be a return address.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Setting up centurytel mail on iphone

I have the 3GS iphone. I'm trying to setup my centurytel email. I can successfully send emails, but I can't receive incoming emails.
    Incoming Mail Server: mail.so.centurytel.net
    Outgoing Mail Server: smtpauth.centurytel.net
Using SSL is set to OFF
    Authentication is set to Password
IMAP Path Prefix is set to /
Server Port is set to 993
It says the server is not responding?
But, I can send emails fine.
    Thanks for any help.

Based on this link, you can access the account as a POP account, not as an IMAP account.

  • Setting up pop mail on iphone 4s

Trying to set it up, receiving mail is working fine, can't send mail. I know a lot about this stuff, but Im having a problem in the settings.
When I try to send mail it tells me it needs a password. So I go into the outgoing settings and enter the password, it verifies and seems to think its working. Well if I exit out and go right back into those settings, the password is not there. It's just not saving it.
This seems like a bug with the phone. Anyone else experience this? So irritating!

Just an update, I checked to make sure all the settings are correct, and they are, it just looks like the iphone is unable to save my outgoing mail username and password. As soon as I back out of it, it just resets them to blank.

  • HT204053 Can I set up iCloud on my iPhone 4s from my laptop without plugging it in?

My iPhone 4S was just stolen and I was wondering if I can set up iCloud on it to make it easier to find.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
It's not possible to set up iCloud remotely on a iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. You need your device to set up iCloud on it.
If it was stolen and you didn't turn on "Find my iPhone", unfortunately you can't track, lock or wipe it. The only thing you can do is report it to the police

  • Setting up junk mail on iPhone?

Is there a way to set up a junk mail filter that will, just like Mail on my Mac, send spam and junk directly to a Junk Mail folder and keep it out of my in box?

  • Can't set up my mail account.  Virgin info says it should be POP Mac says it is IMAP

    Hi
I am trying to set up my email account.  I have recently changed from windows to a mac.  Virgin media say it should be a POP account  - Mac says IMAP on account type.  I have at least three mail accounts now and non of them work.  How can I re-start mail set up.  Any help would be great.  Thank you.

The account information says Account Type:  POP which won't let me alter it.  The next box down says Description and so on.  I can only alter certain things but nothing that lets me alter the Account Type.  I downloaded "how do I set up apple mail on os x" from the virgin website but it doesn't tell me how to alter the POP to IMAP etc.  Can I just delete all the mail boxes and try again from scratch?  Thanks for the reply.
If mail has lready been downloaded you need to back it up before you delete the account, POP does not synchronize mailboxes so you may have the only copies of your mail on your computer so:
In Mail, go to Mailbox>Export Mailbox and repeat for each mailbox with content you want to keep.
Then delete the whole account and re-enter it but leave the password blank, click create and you will get to a manual setup page in which you can choose iMap/Pop etc. You will need to know the correct server settings so get them from Virgin.
From this page (VirginMedia mail Setup) it appears that VirginMedia mail is POP only so you can't change it to iMap.

  • How do I get iphone to reply to mail using a particular "from" address?

    Hi all
I'm having a problem getting my girlfriends iPhone to respond to mails the way she wants. Basically she has a website for her business and I have gone into the settings on 123.reg.co.uk where she bought the domain and had it forward emails from her site to her me.com address which she can then view on her iphone. The problem is she wants to reply to mails that have arrived via her website using the same mail address so people would see "from: [email protected]" in their inbox.
Any ideas how I can do this?
I had a look at aliases on the mobileme prefs but there are restrictions on what characters you can use so I have had to rule that out.
    Thanks
    Jonno

You have to set up that email account on your iPhone for it to reply from that account. Unless she can set up the Poppyseedbakery email account there is no way for her replies to come from that. Have you thought about setting up an email account, for example [email protected] or something similar? Then you can set that up on your iPhone and reply from that.

  • Mail will not send from iPhone on .Mac Account!

This is weird. From my .Mac account when I try to send an email message, I get the "Cannot Access Outgoing Mail Server", whereas if I set up a Gmail account on the same phone, it sends just fine.
I've deleted and re-created the account, restored, updated, software, and all the above again, been to the Genius Bar -- yet remain stymied. Is there some simple solution I've overlooked?

Your problem is with Cox and Cox not having an authenticated SMTP server.
Not many ISPs provide an authenticated SMTP server and I'm not sure why - especially with laptops and devices such as the iPhone so popular.
I'm a Time Warner/RoadRunner customer for cable and internet access and I quit using my RR email account several years ago for this very reason. I switched to using my .Mac account as my primary personal email account which has an authenticated SMTP server. I'm able to send messages with the account regardless the internet service provider used for internet access. My business POP account also has an authenticated SMTP server and no problems sending with this account either - via a number of different Wi-Fi connections and EDGE.
I suggest seriously considering switching to another email account. A Gmail account is free, can be accessed as a POP or IMAP account with the email client on your computer as well as with the iPhone's email client, has a good spam filter at the incoming mail server, and has an authenticated SMTP server.
If you ever move or decide to change your ISP from Cox to a different ISP, your email account and address will not need to change. You can access and send messages with a Gmail account with any ISP - the same with a .Mac account. And you'll have much more server storage space than Cox provides.
