Setting up my system

I recently bought a new 42 inch TV and am looking to add a sound sound system to that. I have a limited area to work with because of the size and because I am renting so I am unable to do proper wiring. The current TV has terrible sound and I would like to add surround sound. I was looking at the rocketfish wireless rear adapter and also some systems with wireless speakers but would like some recommendations
I already have a blu-ray player (ps3) so I have no need for that. I also don't really need a DVD player I just need the audio really.
I currently have a really old receiver from a sony HTIB from at least 5 years ago that I could use but I currently have no speakers.
I am looking to spend below 400 dollars if I can all together.
I guess my questions would be:
- Should I look into a system with wireless rear speakers?
- Should I buy a regular cheap system and just use the rocketfish adapter?

I looked at the manual for that reciever and it has two digital inputs, one optical and the other via an rca cable so you are good on that front. I assume the PS3 has an optical output. Just run the hdmi from the playstation to your tv, and the optical line to your reciever.
I have a similar reciever to that and it sounds just fine with satalites and a powered subwoofer. It lacks bass with large full range speakers but sounds fine with a powered sub.
I also like the speakers that Slim suggested. I have some of the older Klipsch satalite speakers and a velodyne subwoofer so its pretty similar to that set up. Either will sound good but if you have the extra 100 I personally would opt for the polks. I have owned both brands and my ears tend to like polk speakers a bit better. They also make a really nice powered sub where as I really don't know much about Klipsch's powered subs.
I also agree with not going with wireless speakers. I would only go that route if I was just was looking for background sound in a room and not worried about the quality or level of sound or if I absolutely had no other choice. I have not seen very many wireless speakers that really impressed me. Just run the wire, even if you can't hide it. You will still have to run some sort of power cord for the wireless speakers anyway which may limit placement options.

my corecenter temp sometimes says im at 60 cel at idle....and i have the most recent update...i would rely on speedfan for temp control...core center seems to always read 3 degrees higher than speedfan on my pc....
i wouldnt be too concerned...those temps are pretty low to begin with.

We have set up a new Operating Unit in Oracle Apps. Now when I am trying to create a new Customer in that Operating Unit, I am receiving following error:
ERROR MESSAGE:-Please set the Receivables system options for this operating unit and ensure that the MO: Operating Unit profile option is correctly set with an operating unit that is set up in Receivables.
We do have MO: Operating Unit and MO: Default Operating Unit set properly at Responsibility level for the Responsibility through which I am accessing this form.

what do you mean by "trusted system"?
For instance, you can use the CE as a producer in your EP 7.0 consumer portal with SSO. You exchange server certificates and so create a trust between these 2 servers. This is also be possible between CE and ABAP (CE is consuming an ABAP service).
To do so, it's the standard process: export the certificate of CE and import it into the target system

Setting the file system size for the emulator

Hi,
I am trying to set the file system size of the emulator so I can test what happens when the system is full and I try to write to the file system. I am using WTK 2.5.1 and I went into preferences -> storage and set Storage size to 10KB. But when I run the emulator and check the available size of the root directories using:

Because the permissions have been changed, you will need to put them back to what they were before. One of the ways to do that is to reinstall your OS X to make sure that everything permission wise gets put back to what it needs to be to work properly. Based of to the operating system that you say you have, I have provided the steps for reinstalling Snow Leopard. When doing this, it does not overwrite your personal data; it only touches the operating system.

Setting up a System to EP

Hello,
   We are trying to set up a connection from Solution Manager to our Netweaver Portal in transaction SMSY. We set up a system under Systems --> Netweaver and added all the nessessary information for the Main Instance of Enterprise Portal and Application Server Java. The problem is that we don't know where to specify the RFC information.
   When the solution manager consultant trys to set up a transaction in a business process using this system we get an RFC error. There must be some place to specify the RFC connection for the portal system, but we can't figure it out. For ABAP based systems, its pretty straight forward.
   Any help is appreciated.

How do I set up my system so that I can program in C

How do I set up my system so that I can program in C,C ? Without using Xcode. Just want to write simple "hello, world" stuff. So far, my Mac seem oblivious to my efforts even though it seems that all the files are there.
At first, it could not find gcc. Then I added /Developer/usr/bin to the path and it seemed to find gcc.
Then it didn't find stdio.h. I added /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.6.sdk/usr/include/ to the path but it still doesn't find stdio.h
There must be a standard C setup that my Mac is not conformaing to. How can I get set up like a regular Unix system and do C programming like I used to?

None of the responses/experiences seems to apply to me. Let me ask the question this way, because it's partly for my education and also I'd like to program in C. Let's say I have a Unix box and I want to program in C. What files need to be where in what directories? And why wouldn't that work on a Mac? My impression is that the Mac OS X 10.8 contains all I need, but it doesn't work. At least I don't think it does. I may be out in left field here. But surely, being a Unix box, I can get this machine to compile C code in something like the usual fashion. I don't need editors or development environments beyond the basic stuff - unless your telling me maybe I do! Anyway, just wondering what files need to go where in order to compile C programs. Thanks for you forbearance. I appreciate it.

How to Set "file.encoding" System Property to default "UTF-8"

When i execute my code some special character are not being display correct so by programming approach i am trying to set "file.encoding" system property to "UTF-8", using command System.setProperty( "file.encoding", "UTF-8" ); and it is not working.
If i run my jar using command java -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -jar myprog.jar . It is working and my special characters are also looking in right way.
Can i set this defalut encoding by programming approach.

I have the same problem. I have a java prog that is started with "-Dfile.encoding=ISO-8859-1". Now in this program I want to print some characters using the UTF-8 encoding because I know that the terminal I will be printing on has this encoding. I tried using InputStramReader without success:

the above example is to read something into my java program. If I want to write something from my java class to an output it goes like this:

out.flush();... in that case I get the correct encoding.

Right, but the original question was not, "do you think a mute status indicator on the screen would be useful". The question was whether there would be some way to implement one.
In any case, what you seem to be overlooking is that there would be a lot of people who MIGHT need to be reminded of the mute status, PASSIVELY. Its a different cognitive operation, where the device takes the lead and reminds ME of its status, on-screen, (just as I look at it for other status indications, such as new email in inbox).. without me having to remember to think of the mute status question unprompted. I find it totally illogical that Apple left this out. It could be in the bar at the top with the other status indicators SO EASILY.

My System is a dual 2 ghz PowerPC G5 with 1GB ddr sdram.
I am running OSX 10.4.9.
I have an external 160GB LaCie d2 Hard Drive Extreme with FireWire 800
I will be installing Final Cut Studio HD
I am using a Canon XL1
I have a Sony DVMC-DA2 for capturing video from vhs
I'm new to FCP and I'm not sure how I should set up my system. How should I use my external hard drive to maximize my performance?

As for the question about your external hard drive...
If you plan to move your project from home to say school then just be sure to save ALL ASSETS in one place...namely when you are capturing into FCP set your capture scratch to the same place as you project. If you dont and then you move your project your assets will be offline and you will not be able to get them until they are saved in the same place as or your project or you have both your project and your desktop available...

Pre-setting up xgrid system Qs

I am very interested in setting up an xgrid system to improve or give a slightly added boost to my powerbook when working on FCP projects. I have several questions concerning xgrid before I start to purchase the nessisary hardware and software.
1) Is there anyway to run a xgrid client on windows xp machines?
2) I have a Powerbook (which will be the main one), iMac G5, mac mini, and a P4 2.6 Hyper-threading windows computer. What would be the recommended setup? The mac mini as a rerouter and the other two computers as slaves or whatever they are called
3) Is it worth setting an xgrid system up? I have a wireless G network which I know is slow compared to gigabit ethernet but would i noticed any performance boosts to my powerbook using xgrid? Or are my computers to slow or is the network to slow?

1) I haven't seen any windows xgrid clients.
2) The server needs to be connected to the network all the time, so that discards the powerbook. The server doesn't need to be the fastest machine, but if it is going to be used for calculations it is a good idea. So, I'd use your iMac as the server.
3) It is worth it if you have needs/software to go with it. The speed of the network is not much of an issue, the successful Xgrids in the world (Stanford, etc) are running across the internet so... The key point to understand is that a grid is a VERY loose version of a cluster. In a cluster you would use the fastest network available because the computations in the nodes are tightly connected, that is each node needs to know what is happening in other nodes pretty often. A grid works best when the nodes calculate stuff on their own, returning calculations everyonce in a while (at least seconds). That leaves time for the passing of files across the net, the server accomodating many nodes, etc.
Also important, if you use regular software you are NOT gonna see any improvement in your powerbook. You need Xgrid enabled software, and I am not aware of a lot of that so you'd have to develop it.
