Setting up no of columns in R12 discoverer report

Hi,
We are working on R12 discoverer report.
In the instance when we run the report, by default we see 6 columns and we have to click on link 'Right' to see ther columns.
A logged in user can set the no of columns to 25 or so but this ihas to be done everytime for every user
How can we set the no of columns in the report to say 25 at once? Is this a set up option in the instance or in
BI 10-g Disco admin edition?

You can try changing the ColsPerPage in the Pref.txt on the Apps server and then running ApplyPreferences.sh. See the documentation (http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B13918_03/prefs.htm#i1008666) for details.

    We have followed the following note for our R12 upgrade:
    R12 Discoverer Reports: Gl_security_pkg.Validate_access Reports Not Working [ID 804113.1]
    We set the system profile option: Initialization 'SQL Statement - Custom' for the responsibility to the value 'Begin GL_SECURITY_PKG.init(); end;'
    This corrected our problem, and correctly maintained the GL Security Rules in our Discoverer reports.
    But since going live in Production, the service is almost unusable because it is causing severe performance with 400 redo logs being generated an hour with calls to the table GL_BIS_SEGVAL_INT. The minute we remove the profile options the service performance is back to normal, but we have no GL Security Rules in Discoverer.
    Please can anyone advise/help if they have experienced this before, or can help with an alternative solution?

    I am trying to display database column comments in Discoverer reports. Is there any easy way to display these comments, other than copy and paste?
    I am referring about comments from user_col_comments view...

    Hi
    If you create table or view comments in the database and point a Discoverer folder directly at the database object Discoverer will read the comments in and store them in the description property. If you have added the comments after the EUL was built, refreshing the folder(s) should be all you need to do.

  • Discoverer report not working on R12 !

    We have just migrated to R12 from 11i and some of the discoverer query is not working, but the same is working fine when we ran thru SQL Developer or TOAD.
    Is there any context (mo_global.set_policy_context) needs to be set in Discoverer report to get the data?

    There is no any specific error message, the strange thing is if I run the Discoverer report is not returning any data, but if I set the mo_global.set_policy_context ('S',111) in SQL Developer or TOAD and then run the discoverer report it return data...
    Any pointers?

    Discoverer Reports does not work in Multi-org Environment after R12 Upgrade. Created a simple report using the below query:
    SELECT po_header_id, segment1, type_lookup_code
    FROM po_headers
    WHERE segment1 = '5000002'
    Query works perfectly fine; when i set the ORG_CONTEXT in the database using the command:
    EXEC mo_global.set_policy_context('S',129)
    But the report doesn't fetch any data when ran from an Org based responsibility. We've ensured that the MO: Operting Unit is set accurately and general Oracle reports (PLSQL Program OR XML Publisher) are working perfectly fine.

    I followed the steps provided in Metalink Note: 732826.1 - It works for some responsibilities where the MO: Security Profile is not set; but fails for those responsibilities where the MO: Security Profile is set.
    I am looking for specific solution that works irrespective of either the MO: Operating Unit profile is set of not.
    Please suggest. Appreciate your response.

    Discoverer Workbooks Based On Organization Enabled Views Are Not Populated [ID 1293438.1]
    - Tried this option; but this option is messing up a couple of Oracle Standard Functionalities.
    - For ex: If i set this profile option; we are not able to create any receipts using Custom Responsibilities.
    I am able to create the receipt, when i remove this profile option.
    No Data Shows for Reports in Discoverer 10g with Applications Release 12 [ID 1054380.1]
    - I see that the products i am running these reports from AR/GL - already exists in these tables.
    Anything other options??

    In Discoverer BI DEsktop By default, it uses “NULL” text, but we can show Zero or blank then that report is executed as text report.
    how can we set it as for all reports as default blank or zero.Have you reviewed the docs referenced above?

  • Discoverer report with PO_RELEASES in R12

    Hi all,
    I'm migrating a Discoverer report from 11i to R12. The query of the folder uses the po_releases and this join condition "and rcv_transactions.po_release_id = po_releases.po_release_id(+)". When I run the report I get the error "invalid number" but when I tried the same query but using the po_releases_all it seems to work. Is this ok? I saw that in R12 po_releases is just a synonym, is this correct? I would appreciate your comments.

  • Discoverer  report does not sum up the column

    Hi All,
    I am running the discoverer report from discoverer desktop and was
    trying to use the sum function to sum the total amount of the report.
    The sum function does not work and it only display Cell
    Sum: (blank) with no actual data.
    When i checked the report details some columns are calculated based on the columns which i want to sum up.
    Any ideas please share with me

    b) What is the difference between sum and cell sum? Well, I certainly won't claim to be a Discoverer guru. From what little I have seen, the practical result is not any difference really between the two. SUM of a calculated row is adding up the calculation to the total. Whereas cell sum is like adding up the individual values behind the calculation you see. The distinction makes more sense when you have SUM DISTINCT and CELL SUM DISTINCT being involved. Then you will see a difference in the calculated total. But for SUM and CELL SUM itself, I have not seen any difference between the two, but I am still pretty new to Discoverer.
    e) Aggregate field from a folder. Well, this may be one where you have to play around with your own data to understand. Let me try to give you a simple example. Let's say you have a sales table with 100 rows. You have sales data for 5 cities, and each city has 20 rows of sales history. If you pick Sales Dollars Detail and City Name for your workbook and run, you will get 100 rows in your result (complete detail listing). So that is what happens with no aggregation. Now, instead of doing Sales Dollars Detail, you pick Sales Dollars Sum (the same thing as saying SUM(Sales Dollars) in an SQL statement). Run the workbook. You will now get 5 rows of data, instead of 100 rows of data. You will get one row for each city. If you look at the SQL that Discoverer generates, you will see that it has now done a GROUP BY in the SQL statement. Notice I have not said anything about DISTINCT (just trying to keep things simple).
    Now, lets say you do a workbook for City, Part Number, and Sales Dollars Sum. Run the workbook. You get a summarized result (say maybe 10 rows of summary data this time). If you look at the Discoverer SQL, the GROUP BY is now by city and part number, automatically doing that because you picked the SUM version of sales dollars.
    Now lets say you add Sales Units Detail to the workbook. Discoverer will give you a warning message that you are have both an aggregate and a non-aggregate and that you may end up with unpredictable results. Run the workbook. You will be back to 100 rows, because you specified sales units in detail.
    Most of the time I do not want to see detail rows in a workbook. So most of the time I am picking the SUM aggregate for an amount item.
    Hope this explains things a bit. Sounds like maybe you need to take the Discoverer Create Queries and Reports class. Would help you understand these things better. Good luck.

    2. Click on the report region as if you were going to edit the report query.
    3. Click the Report Attributes tab.
    4. Click the button at the side of the column in question.
    5. Scroll down to the Column Link section and fill in the details.

  • How can I set up a 2 column layout in LiveCycle?

    I'm new to working with LiveCycle Designer. I'm using version 10.4, the OEM version bundled with SAP. Aside from being quite buggy, the capabilities seem pretty similar to LiveCycle Designer ES4, which I downloaded in a trial version. All of which is to say that this is a newbie question.
    I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to set up a 2-column layout.
    On my master page, I have two content areas.
    When I create a new page, I am able to drag fields into the first content area I created, but not into the second content area.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Hi. 
    I am not a new LiveCycle Forms designer.  I am using Workbench ES2 (9.0.0.2.20121123.884160).  I have run into a new design problem related to a two column page. The business analytsts have designed the form in Word, where columns work great.  I have tried two subforms within the page. The problem with that is when the right column subform overflows, it overflows to the left column (as the left column has not overflowed), or when the left column overflows (whether or not the right column overflows) the right column begins on the left column's overflowed page.
    I have tried building a page with two side-by-side content areas in the Master Pages, including setting overflow parameters for each subform in the Design View, also with similar problems.
    I have tried using a table with no header and 1 row.  That one is interesting.  When only one cell overflows to another page, it works correctly.  When both columns overflow, the first text box in the subform in each cell is displayed at the top of the page and the remaining content of both cells overflow to the next page, leaving a nearly blank page containing only the one-line text label in each of the two columns.
    Is there some nearly hidden setting I am missing?  Is this possible within LiveCycle Designer Forms?

    After Upgrade from 11.5.10 to R12.1.3 these following columns were picked in AP_INVOICE_DISTRIBUTIONS_ALL table and now the issue is about to replace these tax columns with R12 ZX tables.
    Table used in 11i AP_INVOICE_DISTRIBUTIONS_ALL
    TAX_RECOVERY_RATE,
    TAX_RECOVERY_OVERRIDE_FLAG
    Have to replace columns with ZX tax tables... Need to know which table is populating in ZX tables.. Please suggest on this as it is very high important....

  • Recommendation for setting up Data Guard for EBS R12 12.1.3

    Hello Experts,
    I would like to get some experts opinion and recommendation on setting up Data GUARD for EBS R12.1.3 running on Linux based systems.
    Firstly I would wanna let you all know that I am just geek in this subject matter so do excuse me for any mistakes.
    While we are planning on setting up Data Gurad fro R12 what are the best practices to consider ?.
    We have 2 node rac enabled database and would wanna have non-rac based physical standby, based on this I believe that having db tier on remote or standby site is enough ?
    if db node is enough for standby location what are things to be done when a fail over / switch over / role transitioned to standby for the app node from primary site to point db on the
    standby location or do we have to have both apps and db tier @ stand by location
    --However having a apps tier/node at standby will be of no use as we are planing to run db on mounstate meaning not a active data guard setup.
    Please do reply with your recommendation/suggestions/pointers

    Any one know what may be causing this issue? Do we have to do additional setup for SOA gateway after the standard install of the OVM? I tried to follow the steps in the note above but I do not see any entry for "<jdbc_url oa_var="s_apps_jdbc_connect_descriptor"/>" in the file data-sources.xml.
    Anyone have any ideas?Have you reviewed these docs?
