Setting up VoIP

hi all,
there are 2 locations, SiteA and SiteB connected point 2 point via Satellite connection. both the ends have cisco 1700 router with FXS voice cards respectively. i have connected both the ends with a handset and trying to call from one end, but i can only hear the other party's voice but they cannot hear from my location. what could be the problem.
the config looks like this :
RouterA :
voice-port 2/0
voice-port 2/1
dial-peer voice 1 pots
destination-pattern 411
port 2/0
dial-peer voice 3 voip
destination-pattern 700
codec g711ulaw
ip precedence 5
session target ipv4:192.168.10.1
dial-peer voice 4 voip
destination-pattern 701
ip precedence 5
session target ipv4:192.168.10.1
RouterB :
voice-port 2/0
voice-port 2/1
dial-peer voice 1 pots
destination-pattern 700
port 2/0
dial-peer voice 2 pots
destination-pattern 701
port 2/1
dial-peer voice 3 voip
destination-pattern 411
codec g711ulaw
ip precedence 5
session target ipv4:10.0.0.116
dial-peer voice 4 voip
destination-pattern 411
ip precedence 5
session target ipv4:10.0.0.116
thanks in advance.

Assuming there are no devices in between running ACLs or firewalls etc:
There are many possible causes for this - a popular one is not enabling ip routing, but this is necessary for voice... just bash in
ip routing
in global mode.
For other possible solutions this is a good document:

  • Problems setting up VOIP calls on Nokia E71

can anyone help on how to set up VOIP calls correctly on E71? what should I put in for Public user name? and then username and password??
    please help

    Hi David,
Why not apply a access list to filter incoming traffic into the SG300 switch such as, via command line or GUI.
Here is an example below, by no means complete, just an example
    Just remember,  we are using reverse masking in the ACE;
    config
    ip access-list extended restrictGuest
    deny ip 192.168.30.0 0.0.0.255 192.168.20.0 0.0.0.255
    deny tcp 192.168.30.0 0.0.0.255 any 192.168.30.1 0.0.0.0 www
    deny tcp 192.168.30.0 0.0.0.255 any 192.168.30.1 0.0.0.0 telnet
    deny ip 192.168.30.0 0.0.0.255 192.168.10.0 0.0.0.255
    permit ip any any
    exit
    interface gigabitethernet1
    service-acl input restrictGuest
    exit
Don't forget to save the configuration with the following command and respond to the prompt.
    write
or do it via the GUI method
Step 1.  Create a ACL name
step 2, Add the port based ACE which is the filter list,.
step 3.   Apply or bind the list to a port so that the port can look at and filter pattern matches for traffic ingressing into the switch.  I have given you an example of a ACE list above, you can be more creative in what you deny.
step 4. Now add or copy the entry to other switch ports.
Remember to save your configuration change.
    Hope this helps.
    regards Dave

  • Help on setting up VOIP on my E70

Can anyone please advise how I set VOIP up on my new E70? Also can I access the same SKYPE account as I have on my laptop or do I have to use the another provider? thanks dt7

    Trying visiting www.fring.com

  • Guide to setting up VoIP prioritization on ASA

I have a home business that's using Cisco ASA. One user is having talker echo, and the rest are just having issues with the calls breaking up.
What's the easiest way to setup QoS on this firewall?

the 5Ghz network is ideal for media streaming. if you're using your PC for typical internet connection reasons, i suggest you connect to the 2.4Ghz network.
For wireless-N dual band routers, it is best to use 20 MHz when in a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz populated area to avoid wireless interference. For less crowded networks, you can use 40 MHz on a 5 GHz.  If you're unsure, you may leave channel width at Auto.  This will automatically adjust the settings to 20 or 40 MHz, depending on which best fits your network.

  • N8; How to set up SIP and make (WiFI & 3G)VOIP cal...

N8 only comes with SIP software and you need to download the the VoIP setting software at this link (use VoIP 3.1):
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.nokia.com/id/d476061e-90ca-42e9-b3ea-1a852f3808ec/SIP_VoIP_Settin...
You can use the N8 web browser and load directly from the site to the phone.
    then go to:
    Menu>settings>connectivity>Admin.Settings>SIP settings
    option>New SIP Profile>use default profile.
This window needs to be configured with your VoIP provider setting which may be found on their site or just do a search. I used the settings from my previous phone. I have Gizmo VoIP and will be using the setting for this service as an example to set up Wifi and 3G SIP setting
Profile Name> Gizmo, (assign the name of your provider e.g.. Gizmo, Google talk, etc)
    Service profile> IETF
    Default Destination> WiFi
Public username: sip:[email protected] (Input your VoIP provider info)
    Use compression> No
    Registration> When needed
    Use security> No
    Then goto Proxy server:
Proxy server address> siproxy01.sipphone.com (use your provider proxy address setting)
Realm> proxy01.sipphone.com (use your provider setting)
    Username> (use your username)
    Password> (enter your password0
    Allow loose routing> Yes
    Transport type> UDP
    Port> 5060
Go back and then go to Registrar server:
Registrar server address> siproxy01.sipphone.com (use your provider Registrar setting)
Real> proxy01.sipphone.com (use your provider setting)
    Username> (use your username)
    Password> (enter password)
    Transport type> UDP
    Port> 5060
Again folks above is just an example. You must use your provider settings.
Then when you are done go back to:
Admin setting> Net setting>Advance VoIP setting>Create new service> choose the SIP profile shown, e.g.  Gizmo
This will configure the VoIP setting with the particular SIP profile. It will also add a SIP Tel profile Pane in your Contacts folder, Internet call option to the contacts list and Phone log.
Now go to the SIP pane in Contacts folder, sign in and then make a test call . To make a SIP call just go to a contact and choose Internet call. If you configured everything correctly, it should work and you are done.
For 3G connection, follow above direction and create new SIP profile with new name (e.g. Gizmo (3G). All settings are same except:
    Default destination>Internet
Then set up the VoIP setting with the new SIP profile by going to:
Admin setting>Net setting>Advance VoIP settings>Create new service> Choose the SIP profile you just configured e.g. Gizmo (3G)
    Then:
    Admin setting>Net setting>Advance VoIP settings>VoIP service>choose the 3G SIP profile, e.g. Gizmo (3G)>Profile setting>>>>>
Go down to AWCDMA> set it to "on"
Exit out of everything. Go to SIP (3G) pane in the Contacts folder. Sign in and make test call.
I have configured many Mobile phones and found the N8 somewhat touchy. But, the sound quality on Gizmo VoIP using both WiFi and 3G was great, no echo or any problems.
    Useful hints:
If it does not connect or make a call, you need to check the SIP setting for any error. If you find any problem there, you must first remove the SIP profile in the Net setting. Then go to the SIP setting and correct the problem. Double check everyting, go back to Net setting>Advance VoIP setting>Create new service and add the SIP profile. The reason is that when you Configure a VoIP setting with a SIP profile, the SIP info is permanently loaded and will not change even if you make any change in the SIP profile. So any time you change anything in the SIP profile (even the password) you always need to remove, make correction and then reload the corrected SIP profile to the VoIP setting.
There are also few Mobile service providers who have blocked VoIP on their data network service. So, just check with your service provider. In US both AT&T and TMobile have open network for VoIP.

    Default service: No
    Service connectivity: Internet
In Contacts I have a VoipCheap tab with the icon for internet calling and it says
    Sign in (example)
but when I click on this it shows connecting (via my internet connection) but hangs there - it does not seem to connect............

  • Setting up Cisco SLM248GT-NA switch for VoIP

    Hello Everyone,
We have a Cisco slm248gt-na smart switch in our office that I am trying to configure to support and optimize for VoIP. We have desktops hooked up off the phones in most cases. Are there any config guidelines to optimize the switch so it has proper QOS set and VoIP gets higher priority over data.
    Thanks, Kind Regards
    Shabbir

    Hello Tom,
    Thanks for your reply.
We have a pretty straight forward setup. We have 15 Cisco SPA303 phones hooked up to switch and the desktop are connoted via the phone. We have a wireless LAN and a corporate server that servers as a file sharing/vpn type setup. Other than that there are no devices hooked up. We had to implement auto voice vlan feature but were still running into issues like occasional poor voice quality and one way audio type issues. However I did notice something in the configuration menu "Telephone OUI", could you please help us on how to implement that. We are trying to implement best practice to avoid voip related issues that we have been having.
We also see all the ports in trunk mode. Is that the recommended setting or should we change it to access mode?
    Thanks, Kind Regards

  • Nokia 700 belle fp2 voip

I configured Voip on Nokia 700 belle fp2 with the guide from this page. I prefer 3G connection so I set packet data connection over 3G and enabled AWCDMA setting in VoIP service settings. Like in the guide. I can make calls. Sound quality is excellent on booth sides. But I'm not reachable over VOIP. My phone doesn't make any signs when I try to call it. I quadruple check to be sure that every profile entry has been made correctly. I reconfigure settings for wifi connection and trying to establish connection over wifi bat the problem resist. My voip provider doesn't make any restrictions. Is there any explanation or better solution for this problem.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I find this document  from year 2002. I capture the registering data and incoming call data with wireshark. I find out that my voip provider has problem with Call-ID header. While registering they answer with right Call-ID header. When I get incoming call the Call-ID header is not the same. There is no malfunction. The call is dropped with 404 not found.

  • VoIP with Switch 3750

    Hi,
I have a doubt. The company wants to implement VoIP, but the core switches are Cisco 3750. Is it possible to implement it with these switches?.
Any experience in this task will be appreciate it.
    Thanks
    Wladimir

    Well Wladimir,
you could implement it in one step or in several steps. It depends on several parameters I do not know, like time frame, staff, size, maintainance windows, etc.
Be aware that implementing VoIP will most likely require QoS on at least the trunk ports and all ports, where VoIP traffic is passing.
VLAN implementation would be the base for any traffic, So I would make sure to design and implement rapid spanning tree per VLAN first.
Make sure the root bridges are selected carefully. Test failure scenarios.
Increasing the number of VLANs should not pose any problem, so this could be an ongoing process, while you plan your VoIP implementation.
VoIP needs a LOT more than just switch design. Have a look at the VoIP SRND (www.cisco.com/go/srnd). If you have no experience with setting up VoIP get professional help, if your budget allows it. Make sure your staff is properly trained to support the new network.
Just a few recommendations to get you onto the right track - I still might miss some important points, as I do not know your requirements and network in great detail.
Hope this helps nevertheless. Please use the rating system.

  • VOIP ports for blackberry 8520

I am in a new Wi-Fi that does not seem to allow VOIP calls in the network.  I cannot find the ports that the blackberry uses in order to use the UMA connect.  Does anyone know these ports so that I can allow them through the fire wall?
This is for the blackberry curve 8520

You can set the VoIP device to highest priority under Media Prioritization instead of forwarding ports.

  • Nokia C7 VOIP Internet Call

hi. ive set up voip profile in menu-connectivity-admin settings. I'm looking now for the "Internet Call" applicaton to register the profile and to use it for voip calls, but i can't find it nowhere!!
i've read symbian^3 have built-in voip support, but i can't use it. Can you help me? In my old nokia E70 under applications i have "Internet Call" icon to start voip profiles but i can't find it in my c7...

If your voip is set up correctly, you should see both "voice call" and "internet call" as options in your contact directory. There is not separate "internet call" application. Internet calling is integrated to the contact directory.
You can sign in and out of your voip accounts using the menu bar at the top when you are in contact directory (home page/call/contacts).
Make sure you install this first:
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.nokia.com/id/d476061e-90ca-42e9-b3ea-1a852f3808ec/SIP_VoIP_Settin...
    See also this:

  • N97 & VoIP?

Could someone possibly point me in the right direction for setting up VoIP on the N97 please?
I have been using an N95 8GB with several SIP profiles (Voipfone, Sipgate, coms.com) and all have worked well.  I have found the SIP settings in the N97 and have setup my Voipfone account.  It is registering correctly, but I can’t find the Internet Telephone application that existed on the N95 8GB, or any way to make or receive a VoIP call.
I’m not so concerned about Skype (though it would be good to have it) and I know I can use Fring for VoIP accounts, but would rather use the native application … if I could find it! A search of the downloaded N97 manual shows no entries for VoIP, which is worrying.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Allan

    Hi guys!
I am working in Nokia IT but I cannot provide you any link from our intranet Wiki pages
I don't really know what you mean by having certain application/s for Voip but at least our Nokia corporation Voip setup using SIP-profiles will be supported when pr2.0 is released. It means that you can really choose from phonebook that you want to take voip call instead of voice or video call. I can see already now that my phone SIP profiles has registered successfully via WLAN AP but I cannot really use it with current N97 SW release.
And what comes to other models below are the current phone models which are supporting Voip SIP-usage:

  • Default/native vlan- voip data question- cisco sf300

    hi everybody,
I have to set up voip and data vlans on cisco sf 300-24P. I will set up phones over LLDP and
on the same port (on switch) I will have untagged vlan 10 for data, so PC will be connected
    through IP phones on network.
So what confuses me that on SF 300 under VLAN mgmt--> Default VLAN settings you got
options to change default VLAN id (which is of course VLAN1) which will be active after reboot.
How come that you can change default vlan? Isnt that default vlan is always vlan 1 and you can
change native vlan to be something else- let say vlan 10 which will be untagged vlan for data?
So what is best practise- should I just leave default vlan 1 and use it for data also or I sholud
change it to let say VLAN 10 to be native and use it for data.
And what will be with default VLAN 1 if I change it with above mentioned procedure?
    Thx!

    Hi,
Best Practice is to leave Vlan 1 for management purposes only. Create yourself a DATA and VOICE vlan. Usually Management vlan does not have DHCP enabled and have to static assigned pc within your management vlan for access. I would say that it really depends on how the rest of your network is configured depending on configuration of switch now. Unless this is a clean install.
    Hope this helps,
    Jasbryan

    Hi Rusty,
Error 8 has always been there since iChat 2.x (Although it is not until the error logs pop was introduced to 10.4.7 that it actually had a name for us users).
As to whose fault it is, is many and varied.
As the Article you link to says iChat uses the SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) as Apple has said iChat is a VoIP app and all VoIP use SIP.
Not all modem and router manufacturers handle SIP or VoIP properly all the time. Some go as far as making it always use one port instead of the SIP Standards 4 ports (It will use of the 4)
As AIM (application or the servers) do not use SIP it can not be AIM's fault.
Not all modem and Router manufacturers do NAT the same way further adding to the problem.
Lastly if it was working and now does not the also look carefully at what your ISP is doing.
Many are now trying to set up VoIP services. For this they try charging for thus service. One way is to block the SIP ports until the end user pays. In effect changing your Internet service in some cases without telling you.
Remember that if set Port Forwarding and kept your Modem or router doing DHCP then the IP your computer gets from that DHCP server could also have changed.
If a Home network (LAN) is set out in a linear fashion even if NAT is used then iChat will work.
This means if your Modem and router can not do UPnP and have to use a NAT based method like Port Forwarding then you have to set up a Static route from modem to Router and possibly router to computer and not have overlapping subnets caused by two DHCP servers.
MOdem with Static routing <-> ROuter in bridge or Static <-> computer
    Not modem doing DHCP
    Router doing DHCP
    giving a computer two IPs
I have shown it this way to demonstrate more visually the overlapping.
Yes, it is fair to say that iChat has trouble with NAT, but it is mostly about how the LAN is set up, which can include using Wireless and Ethernet at the same time. IT is also true that many on-line games will have the same trouble.
Yes, Apple also run the SIP server that iChat connects to which handles ALL A/V chats and it could lose contact with the AIM servers or the AIM servers with it and lose the ability to contact the AIM screen names.
    So in summary.
Could be your LAN and any setting (Except UPnP) used with a DHCP server.
Could be your ISP changing your Internet Service for their VoIP service.
Partly it is Apple for choosing the International SIP Standard
Partly it is due to the myriad ways modem and router manufacturers construct their firmware.
    More specifically;
Without you "changing Anything" it can be your OWN DHCP server.
    IT could be your ISP.
We have yet to touched on features on modems and routers that see the amount of Data iChat can send as an Attack on your connection and end the chat.

  • BT Softphone and D-Link 2740B router problem

Has anyone managed to work out how to set up a D-Link 2740B router so that BT Softphone will work?
The best help I can get from BT INDIA is change the baud to 5060, what ever that means?
I am not a techie, so any help in a simple step by step fashion would be most welcome.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

no thats no what i thinking about... i dont want to connect any devices as handsets ect to my laptop, laptop must be free as is now if this router have VOIP in the lastest firmware i think i can connect router to my bt broadband line then standard handset to the router and thats it. From the router level set the voip softphone internet telephony connection for this handset and thats it.... then if I will need another standard landline handset then simply connect it straight to the bt line... thats my vision....no devices connected to my computer its not working that way
If you already have bt home hub its working away from your computer so only one reason to change router is to do it in the same way as BT.... as BT have rubbish routers and with more than one laptop in the home network just cut the connecton this making me mad.....
