Setting value from OAMessageLovInputBean at runtime

Question

I'm attempting to change the value of a OAMessageLovInputBean at runtime (CO), but running into an issue.
By using the code below the value appears to be changed on the UI, but it is not making the underlying change upon saving the record (the original value is still saved to the database).
Is there something obvious I'm missing? The strange thing is that this works okay if there is not an existing value in the attribute - it just doesn't work if there is an existing value. Thanks in advance.

Looking at the above code, I don't think that your code is doing anything.
