Setup cannot grant the domain\computer$ account access to the DPM database ID: 832

I'm having an issue getting DPM 2012 to install using a remote database. The remote sql server is Windows 2008 R2 with SQL 2008 R2. The DPM server and the database server are not DC's either. I have tried everything I can think of from granting permissions
to both windows and SQL, rechecking my installation of SQL, checking the application and system logs on both servers and even going through the error log for the DPM installation. No matter what I do I seem to get the same error and it has now been 3 days
without me having a backup. Can someone please help me out? The information on this error seems to be pretty scarce and I am no longer sure what to do besides calling Microsoft for help.

Using your naming convention, I pasted my log for the same. It seems to throw an exception right after deleting the group.

We found out that there were duplicate entries in the PkgStatus_G and the PkgServers_G tables in the SCCM DB.  We identified them, deleted them , and then we were able to run the /TESTDBUPGRADE command and it went through fine.  We performed
all of this on a COPY of the PROD DB and then moved the changes in PROD.  Hope this helps someone.

    Hi Phil,
Thank you for your questions. Have you uninstalled Office 2007 from the machine before the Office 2013 installation?
I believe you've already seen this KB article before, the steps above are quoted from it:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/838687
As can been seen from the article, the steps above are specific to Method 4. There are three other Methods mentioned in the article, have you ever tried them? If not yet, I would suggest you to have a try:
Method 1: Set the permission for the Everyone group of the registry subkeys that are listed in the error message to Full Control.
Method 2: Disable the third-party application.
Method 3: Try the installation again in
Let me know if the issue persists after the steps above, we'll take a further look then.

Bummer!  I read something about getting this error due to insufficient permissions, but I attempted to install as local admin and didn't work either.  So I just uninstalled Adobe reader from the servers I was having this issue with, at least until a solution is available (?).  I'm not happy, it is not convenient if I have to use another machine to view PDFs, but I'd rather be inconvenienced than have unpatched servers.  Thanks for responding...let's hope Adobe responds...

    Hi,
We have had several customers report this after installing DPM 2012 R2.
To get past the below error while scheduling reports to be mailed.
Reporting Services Server cannot connect to the DPM database.
To repair the configuration, follow steps for repairing DPM from DPM Setup Help.
     ID: 3001
Perform the following steps as necessary:
    1. Created a new local group called "DPMDBReaders$<DPMServerName>"
    2. Created a new user called, "DPMR$<DPMServerName>" and added this user to DPMDBReader group that we created on step 1.
    3. Open SQL management studio and  add the DPMDBReaders$<DPMServerName  group to Logins under Security in SQL Management Studio.
    4. Modify the properties and under General – change the default database to the current DPMDB name.
    5. Under User Mapping – select the current DPMDB name and check the db_datareader checkbox.
    6. In SQL Management Studio, navigate to the Databases > DPMDB > Security > Users > and select the DPMDBReaders$<DPMServerName>" group.
Right-click the DPMDBReaders$<DPMServerName>" group and select properties. Under the
Securables section, click on Search. On the add objects dialog, click OK.
On the Select Objects dialog, click the Objects type, then check the
stored procedure checkbox. Browse and add the following two stored procedures
“Prc_MOM_Heartbeat_Get” and “prc_MOM_ProductionServer_Get”.    Grant the Execute permission for both of the stored procedures added.
    7. In SQL Reporting Services Configuration manager, under Report Manager URL - click on the link to open the portal (http://localhost/Reports)
          i. Click on the DPMReoprts_GUID to open the DPM reports.
          ii. Click on the DPMReporterDataSource
iii. On the poperties page, enabled "Credentials stored securely in the report server" on DPMReporterDataSource configuration page and added “DPMR$<DPMServerName>” user account that we created in step 2.
iv.  tick "Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source."
          v.   Click ‘Test connection’ on the same page to verify whether it can connect successfully.
    8.  In SQL Reporting configuration manager - change the Service Account to use build-in account: Network Service
    9. Reboot the DPM Server.
    10. You should then be able to schedule e-mailed reports.

  • Setup cannot find the Geforce4 4200 device

    Hello,
    I've just bought a Geforce4 4200 128MB MSI card which replaced my old voodoo3 3000 card.
The BIOS seem to be able to communicate with the card as the card name shows when I turn on the computer.
The problem is when I try to run the CD's setup program , it says "cannot find the device in your system".
When I tried to view PCI information in linux , it printed out the following:
    "bus 1 , device 0 , function 0
VGA compatible controller: PCI device 10de:0254 (nVidia corporation) (rev 163)
IRQ 11." , and some more infromation regarding memory addresses.
    I'm running win95 on Celeron III 600MHz.
Is the above PCI information makes sense? Why cant the windows installation find my device?
    Thank you for your responses,
    Ishai

remove any device from system that has something to do with v. card...and all "unknown devices", reboot and try again. if not install drivers manualy...may be will work

I tried these steps, but everytime i try to change it, it tells me:

    Nothing seems to work..
I thought if i went into sql management studio and made sure my userid had admin rights to the db it would work.. but i cant change it there (via integrated security).. i believe i need to login as SA, but i dont recall the password for SA, though it appears
i can change the SA password from within sql management studio.. i'm unsure if doing so will break DPM though or is even needed to fix the reporting integration issue..
    Any thoughts on this?

    Using:
    data source="servername\MSDPM2012";persist security info=False;initial catalog=DPMDB
I used the domain sqlservice account and test connection was ok.
However.. accessing reports still crashes in the MMC
    Tech, the Universe, Everything: http://tech-stew.com
When i recreated the db.. i called it Reporting2 or similiar..
Then the reports folder i created called "Reports Folder"
    Then datasource name "reports datasource"
The issue here is that the DPM reports in the reporting web interface are gone, since this is a new DB.. how do i redeploy them
    Tech, the Universe, Everything: http://tech-stew.com
i went back into the sql reporting services area.. hit change db.. chose the original .. then back to the url.. went to the OLD reporting services folder and datasource.. added the connect string and now reporting area works.. so does scheduling..
    Problem now solved
    Tech, the Universe, Everything: http://tech-stew.com
Oops spoke too soon.. the first time i set it to do "status" as a schedule.. it seemed to work (clicked ok, no error).. went back and added an email notification..
Now i'm getting.. "an error occurred causing the reporting job to fail" "system files may be corrupt".
Seems to only occur if i try to add the email address portion
    Tech, the Universe, Everything: http://tech-stew.com
rechecked the datasource.. i think there was an error in the connect string.. now everything seems to be working.. email notifications and all.

I have this going on as well. The machine account will only get re sync'ed during GPO while the machine is booting up. I would think enabling ms-chapv2 to allow password change would allow this but does not seem to work.

  • Non-domain computer cannot connect to server

    I have a unique issue.
I have a Windows 2008 server running Exchange 2010 (all roles on single server )
I have a Windows 7 Pro client that is not a member of the domain.
When setting up Outlook 2010 I enter user's name, email address and password.  The system starts configuring, it successfully searches for [email protected] settings.  It then prompts for credentials.  I cannot get it to take them.
However, If I user the domain admin account I can successfully setup the domain admin email in Outlook.  I just cannot do it with a standard user.
Also, I noticed that this non-domain computer can access domain member server if I provide credentials (domain\username). This does not work with this or any of my other Windows 2008 servers.
I have been fighting this with no relief in sight...
    Thanks
    Wayne

Let me be clear about my symptoms.
Exchange with domain joined computers autodiscover/Outlookworks fine....
DC's and exchange server all have same time/date otherwise nobody would be able to authenticate.
The problem only exists with non-domain computers (both within the network and outside of the network)
The autodiscover tests fine with exchange connectivity tester.  I cannot test outlook as I have a certificate from an untrusted root that is installed manually on the non-domain computers.
The non-domain computers can connect to windows 2003 member server (with appropriate domain credentials) but not to this 2008 (or the other 2 2008 member servers)
Update-  If I configure the domain administrator account on that same non-domain connected machine, it retrieves the domain admin email just fine.....

  • Grant the Essbase application permission to user in Shared Services

    Hi,
We got a problem in granting the Essbase permission to user using Shared Services. We are using Hyperion 9.3.1.
    (1) We created an Essbase application + database through Essbase Administration Console, say TBC.Sales.
    (2) Provision the Essbase "Server Access" + Essbase Application "Read" roles to a user.
    (3) In Essbase Admin Console, we "Refresh Security from Shared Services".
However, the user still cannot see the Essbase Database in SmartView. Does anyone know how to fix the problem?

The problem is fixed with Essbase 9.3.1.3.0.5.

  • SSAS issue with Domain user account

    Hi
I have SSAS 2008 R2 set up running on Windows Server 2012 Standard.
The server is registered as a part of domain.
I have had an issue of domain user accounts accessing to a cube and it's starting to get worse. There has been no problem with a local user account (I set up a few for testing purpose).
I ran the role report from BIDS Helper and it finds all the domain user accounts invalid.
It looks like SSAS is not talking well with the domain server (Windows 2003 server standard) to verify user credentials. But the thing is that everyone is ok with the domain server except for SSAS. IT does not have a clue what's going on here and everything
is just pointing at me right now.
I'd like to know if there is anyway to monitor that communication between SSAS and domain server for user credential verification and any guideline on how to resolve it. Most of time, it just works again..  like 10 minitues later.. it resolves by itself.
    But this time, not!!!
All I know is that 1. Registering the server as a part of domain 2. use domain user account to set the security.
MY IT department has set up network monitoring tool and says that they are 100% percent working (No connection loss. It's monitoring Active directory as well). The application installed is 'ManageEngine Applications Manager'
I don't know what to do here.
P.S Will it be related something like 'Error
while Add user to SSAS Server - The trust relationship between the primary domain and the trusted domain failed' but it's all the domain accounts including mine are not working.
    Cheers!!!

First check your DNS servers setting on the server you have SSAS installed. You should only use the IP addresses of the DNS servers (e.g. Domain Controllers) of your domain. Active Directory relies on proper DNS server settings. Adding public DNS servers,
even if they are on the bottom of the list, will mess up name resolving Active Directory names. This should have been done when IT had provisioned the server. Same goes for own workstation if you run your development/management software not on the server.
Second make sure SSAS is running under a service account that has access to Active Directory. This can be either a domain account, the local system account, or the network service account. Running SSAS under a local account or the local service account will
not work because local accounts do not have access to Active Directory. Running SSAS under either a Managed Service Account or a Virtual Account will not work because those features require the domain at least the Windows Server 2008 R2 functional
    level.
Third make sure the account you use to log on to SSAS is a domain account and has appropriate permissions in SQL Server and SSAS. Local accounts and SQL Server account do not have access to Active Directory

  • Computer Accounts getting corrupted

    Hi!
We have Windows 2008 R2 DCs. Our domain computer accounts are many times getting corrupted and showing error "The trust relationship between this computer and domain controller has failed". We have to disjoin and rejoin the pcs to domain to fix
    it.
    Any Suggestions?
    Thanks.

I would agree with Manjunath, if you just clone the machine you end up with the exact same SID and when you add multiple machines with this same sid the latest joined machine will alter the name and password of the sid and the old machines will lose the
ability to particpate in the domain.  So unfortuantely, if this is the case you need to go back and get each cloned machine corrected or this will continue to occur.

I've verified that I can login as EQSYS using sqlplus. Also tested that I can login as sys, too. I've also tested the login using the Admin console and that is fine, too.
Any ideas on what is causing this or how to fix it is most welcome as I've not encountered this error before when installing SES or a service pack. I've even tried the OUI for Service pack 10.1.8.3 but also get the same error.
I've checked the listener.ora and tnsnames and they are OK. I've checked and the listener is running and so is the DB.

  • MS Access returns a SQL Database date field as text

When linking to a table via ODBC to a SQL database, Access returns any field that is formatted as 'Date' as a 'Text' field. A Date/Time field works fine. I cannot change the SQL Database.  Is there a fix for this?

    Hi,
In regarding of the issue, please provide us more information to assist you better.
Which version of Access and SQL server do you use?
Do you use ODBC Driver 11 for SQL server?
Based on my test (My environment: Access 2013, SQL server 2014, and ODBC Driver 11 for SQL server), I can't reproduce your issue. Regardless  of "Date" and "Date/Time" data type of SQL, both of them can be linked to Access
that are formatted as Date/Time type.
I suppose this issue may be caused by the data. For example, if the date like: 2015--2--23, it can't be recognized as date type in Access. Please try to check it.
If you have any update, please feel free let me know.
