Setup disk once again

Hello i have one question about my setup disk.I have PC I7 [email protected], 12GB DDR3 and three disks. Two new seagate 3.5 500GB 7200.12 and one external disk 2.5 Seagate 7200.4 ESATA connect. How i setup this disk to work in premiere  CS4 ?? RAID0 helpful ?? I think about this configuration:
RAID0 from two disks 3.5 and partition this:
50GB: SYSTEM + OS
150GB: Render files, scratch files, project files
800GB: media files
External disk: Export media files
This is it good ?or maybe this configuration:
No raid and:
DISK 1 3,5:OS + PROGRAMS+ PROJECT FILES+SCRATCH FILES
DISK 2 3,5: MEDIA FILES
DISK 3 2,5: EXPORT FILES
I read FAQ but there is no solution for two disks. I know that partitioning is no good.I have one question about preferences: Optimize for memory, or for perfomance i CHOOSE ??
I will work on AVCHD files from panasonic 151E
My english is no good and sorry for my mistakes
Best wishes

DISK 1 3,5:OS + PROGRAMS+ PROJECT FILES+SCRATCH FILES
DISK 2
3,5: MEDIA FILES
DISK 3 2,5: EXPORT FILES
I would use the following setup:
Disk 1 3.5: OS & Programs
Disk 2 3.5: Project & Media
Disk 3 2.5: Export & Scratch
I would refrain from partitioning and possibly get a Velociraptor for OS & Programs and then use:
Disk 1 Velociraptor: OS & Programs
Disk 2 3.5: Project & Scratch
Disk 3 3.5: Media
Disk 4 2.5: Export
Hope this helps.

I got to step 3, but even after repeatedly plugging and unplugging the USB cord, iPod wont come up in device manager.
My 2nd generation iPod touch has always worked fine and synced with my computer without hassle, now all of a sudden it wont come up at all in iTunes, its not under devices or anything. iPod comes up with a charging symbol but computer doesnt see the iPod at all, anywhere. i have tried restarting iPod & computer numerous times, have re-installed iTunes twice, have restarted the ADMS, i've followed every single suggestion that ive seen and it still isnt working. Saw this post and havent tried this yet so thought id give it a go, but as i said it doesnt come up in the device manager as you say it should......am at a total loss and extremely frustrated.
Also - quick question, because i re-installed iTunes, does this mean i have lost all the apps i have downloaded and once i eventually can sync my iPod with computer, will i lose all apps from iPod as well??

  • I tried upgrading to MountaIN lION HOWEVER i WASNT ABLE TO Install.  I then tried reinstallling Snow leopard but once again it will not let me install stating there are errors on the disc.  I have run disc repair on disc utility but it wont allow me

I was told to reinstall Snow leopard which I did .  More troubles! It then came up cannot iinstall as there are errors.  Tried going into disc utilities and repair but once again it stated iin red I cannot proceed.  can anyone help me here.  Before this was happening my system was slowing right down with the beach ball making an apearance after tapping the mouse or typing text.

So you are trying to reinstall Snow Leopard?
In order to do that, you need to erase your hard drive - you cannot go back to an earlier system without erasing. Make sure you back up your files first. Then insert the Snow Leopard install disk, and restart while holding down the C key. If that does not work, insert the install disk, go to System Preferences > Startup Disk and highlight the install disk > click on restart.
Once you are booted into the install disk, go past the language selection and then to Utilities in the menu bar. Use Disk Utility to repair the drive (just in case), erase it and then install. After that, eject the disk and update to the latest 10.6.8.

  • Trying to Hot Sync Visor Pro with Windows 7 (64 bit OS) - getting error: "The connection between your handheld computer and the destktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again."

    Hi.
I read the posting regarding the options on Hotsyncing for Windows 7; however, I have some questions as I have a 64-bit system.
I have a Visor Pro that I'm trying to Sync up with my new laptop which is running Windows 7.
    Steps I have taken:
    * installed the Visor Palm Desktop 3.0.1 that came with the Visor (which the installation went well)
    * The issue arises when I push the "Sync" button on the cradle and the following error message appears "The connection between your handheld computer and the destktop could not be established.  Please check your setup and try again."
Since I have a 64-bit OS it appears that I have 2 options: 1) bluetooth or 2) Infrared.
I have to admit I don't know know how to do either of these (how can I tell if this Handspring Visor Pro has bluetooth (which I don't it does)?).
Then how about the Infrared option?  I see on the PDA it has a red area that one can "beam" info.  Is this the same as Infrared or my 2nd option?
I love my Visor and want to continue using it, but need to backup the valuable info!
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
    THANKS!!!!!
    Post relates to: Visor Pro

Hello lwalbring and welcome to the Palm forums.
Your Visor, as you suspect, does not have Bluetooth, so you must use the IR HotSync option.  Since you are using Windows 7 64-bit, I believe that you are going to have to upgrade to Palm Desktop 6.2.2 to make things work from an OS/Driver perspective.
Since you are using such an old device, you are also going to have to download and install the PalmHotSyncSetup Utility from Pimlico.  This update turns on support for old Palm OS PDAs in Palm Desktop 6.2.2.  Without the update, you won't be able to sync your Visor with Palm Desktop 6.2.2.  The software is free and the link is all the way at the bottom of the screen.
Lastly, if your PC doesn't have an IR port on it, you will need to purchase a USB to IR adapter.  Some laptops still have IR ports and most desktops don't.
Once you have all the pieces, you'll want to go back to the Windows 7 and Vista HotSync thread again, and follow the directions for setting up and configuring IR HotSyncs.

  • *** ACTUAL FIX! *** How to solve the Windows 8 "Sorry, something happened and we couldn't finish creating the ISO. Restart setup and try again" problem

Author's note: because I'm not yet allowed to post links in the forums, please note that all links have
dot for the actual . in links, and any "http://" is spaced out so things don't appear as links.  Common sense, folks.
    I found the answer here: http:// wwwdoteightforumsdotcom/tutorials/13200-windows-8-upgrade-iso-redownload.html,
    but here's the brief summary:
-I'm guessing that at some point, you probably downloaded the Windows 8 preview, yes?  For whatever reason, when you go to do it "for real," the Windows 8 setup doesn't overwrite the old file, called the "WebSetup"
folder.  If that folder is still there, you'll get the "Sorry, something happened and we couldn't finish creating the ISO.  Restart setup and try again" message.
The location of the folder is at: C:\%UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WebSetup
where %UserProfile% is the user account you downloaded it under (probably your default account) - this is the folder you need to delete.
Once that folder is deleted, run the Windows 8 setup file (found here: http:// windowsdotmicrosoftdotcom/en-US/windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only if
you haven't, like me, already downloaded it 8 different times thinking it was a corrupted file), and it should prompt you at that point for your product key - which is something it wasn't doing for me.  After that, you can choose to make it an ISO, run
it normally, run it from USB, etc.
It'd be helpful if Microsoft knew about this... hope it helps...

I have an iMac mid 2010. After Disk utilities said the drive was corrupt, I ran the hardware test (extended) 3 times. No problems. I than ran Disk utility again and got 2 messages in red…keys out of order, and ……Volume corrupt, can't be repaired.
I tried to do a system install, but message said…disk can't be changed. Will a complete erase and install fix this ?
    Everything is backed-up.

    There's hardware and software.
Your drive could physically be in good condition but something has caused the file structure to be messed up (it just happens sometimes).  The directory that keep track of files is corrupt.  Disk Utility can help determine if that is the issue.  In some cases it can repair the problem but it cannot do it to a drive that is being used to boot the system while you are doing that.  You have to boot from another drive.  Some things DU cannot repair and you need to try a stronger utility such as Diskwarrior.
A failing hard drive (one with mechanical issues) can be a cause of file structure issues but this is by no means always the case.  Apart from looking at the SMART diagnosis feature of Disk Utility (and smart isn't totally reliable) there often isn't a way to tell if a drive is failing until it suddenly happens, which is why you need to maintain backups.
In your situation it does sound serious and not just minor directory corruption.  You can try erasing (formatting) the drive,  You may need to do this if it is really corrupt, in which case there could be underlying physical issues.  I use old technology but if you have the patience you can try erasing the drive with the security option of writing zeros once (don't do more unless you are going on a 3 week vacation).  This makes the drive not simply assume everything is okay by forcing it try every part of the drive by writing data.  If something is gong wrong you may find it marks a lot of bad sectors, or flat out refuses to format.  Then you know you need a new drive.

  • "USB device not recognized." "The connection between your device and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again." Tungsten E2, Outlook 2007

    Hi,
I am running XP SP 2, on a Dell Vostro 1000, Palm OS Garnet v5.4.7 on a Tungsten E2. I have worked though issues relating to synchronization, Outlook 2007, Docs to Go, etc., in the past.  Thank you board members!
Once I worked thru all the initial problems, my Tungsten E2 was sync' ing beautifully to my laptop until a few days ago.  There have been no changes (I know of) to the configuration, but now I receive  "The connection between your device and the desktop could not be established.  Please check your setup and try again."  On the laptop I sometimes get  "USB device not recognized."  I am unclear why I get the PC message sometimes and not others.
I have tried the following: (not necc exactly in this order)
Double checked Hot Sync Mgr settings: Local USB (ver. 6.0.1)
    Reset the Palm (multiple times)
Rebooted the laptop  (multiple times before and after the Palm resets)
Went to Support Libraries including http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=57,E=0000000001060189973,K=9550,Sxi=3,Case=Obj(3695...)
    and http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=PalmSupportKB,ts=Palm_External2001,Case=obj(1409)
Followed the steps in "Start Here" found at  http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/message?board.id=windows_hotsync&thread.id=26057
Moved Backup directory as per a post on this forum
Looked for a deleted a file called "Graffiti_ShortCuts_____________" per a post on this forum
Followed the steps in HotSync troubleshooter guide you can run through located on
    http://kb.palm.com
Went into Device Manager - found it shows no yellow ! 's
Followed Device Mgr Troubleshooter - went all the way thru with no solution
Tried all four USB ports - the PC's bell-like tone does not sound when I disconnect or reconnect the Plam's cradle like it does when I conn/disconnect other USB devices -I think that is a clue.    ...?
Cleaned the Palm's contacts (and cradle's contacts with a old, dry toothbrush)
Read all the posts under "USB device not recognized."
OK, I'm at a loss, can anyone help me?  Many thanks in advance!

    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

    Hello!
Using a cradle with the Tungsten E2?  Tried bypassing the cradle and just use the hotsync cable?  Tried a different computer yet?  Somehow, the PC is having problems getting a signal from the device.  I assume you have the laptop charger plugged into the laptop during this?  Not going through a docking station or port-replicator.
One crazy thing you can try is unplug the charger from your laptop, remove the battery from the laptop and leave it out for like 10mins and put it back in and reboot the laptop.  This should not cause side effects but still contact your OEM to make sure that nothing else is needed after leaving the battery out for extended period of time.  Keep me posted.

  • Macbook Pro Memory (Once Again) & Other Problems

Been looking once again at memory for my Late 2011 Macbook Pro and altho i can upgrade to 16GB i have been told by an Autherised apple repairer and supplier that 16GB would be far too much for what i use my macbook pro for and that 8GB would be a good upgrade.
I have been told from "Kappy" on another post that i have the following problem
"your free memory is a little low, and you have PsgeOuts greater than zero which all means you are running low on memory for the number of concurrent applications running. Some disk swapping is occurring and that should start slowing down the computer. It will also lead to drive thrashing which can cause more heat from the drive and more slowing down along with the SBOD"
Now if i upgrade from my standard 4GB to 8GB would this help with the above comment that kappy has pointed out ?
I have also found this on ebay and im thinking thats its a good buy, Can someone confirm that this is the correct memory and thats its a cause of plug and play in my late 2011 macbok pro 13"

Here is my macbook specs and things also.
I currently have the app iStat Menu's which gives me lots of information and details and one of them is teh Temp of my Macbook abd how how its getting.
Can someone tell me at what point my fans are ment to start up in teh default setting as the temp went all the way up too 76 Degrees and then i moved it to over to the custom setting and put the fans to 6200rpm to bring the heat back down.
Is there anyway that i can reset the fan or fan sensors ?

As im in the United Kingdom (GB) prices are rubbish but im lucky enough as my uncle is in LA just now so he is going to bring me back this -

  • Setup Disk Mirroring on Solaris 8

I need to know of how to setup Disk Mirroring on Solaris 8 on my SUN E250/E280
Which manual collection, provide a step by step procedure to do it. Thanks.

I assuming you're going to be using Sun disc management software ( DiskSuite) and not something like Veritas volume manager.
There are some Sun infodocs on the sunsolve site ( sunsolve.sun.co.uk is the one I use ) that contain good step by step guides on how to mirror discs using Solstice Disksuite. Type in "disksuite faq" as keywords to search.
Disksuite 4.2.1 comes with Solaris 8 ( this is the recommended version of DiskSuite you use with 8), but you need to make sure it was included as a package to install when the server was originally built). If it hasn't been installed, put the Solaris 8 cd 2 of 2 and do a package add on the following path /cdrom/sol_8_1000_sparc_2/Solaris_8/EA/Products.
Pick disksuite and I generally add all the packages. You'll need to know the product a bit more if you want to pick and choose the components to install.
Once done, you'll need to reboot the server and then begin to configure the discs. To understand the various concepts with disksuite you will need to read the manuals.
I use the command line but there is a GUI tool supplied with the product called metatool to help you mirror your discs.
As a high level overview this is what you need to do:
Create a minimum of 3 state databases ( on a separate disc slice of about 5 megabytes in size, nothing else should use this slice )
The discs you want to mirror should have the same partition table to keep life simple.
I would create 6 databases, 3 on an individual slice.
Then create your mirror devices which represent the various partitions you want to mirror from the primary disk. Then create your metadevices and attach the first set of mirrors to them.
You need to issue a special command called metaroot to get the system to mount the root filesystem metadevice at boot time.
At this stage I would then make a backup of /etc/vfstab and then edit it to mount your metadevices instead of the normal disc devices.
I would then bounce the server to check it all works and the metadevices get mounted correctly.
Create your second set of mirror devices on the secondary disc and add them to the appropriate metadevice ( using metattach )
If the filesystems are very large it takes a few minutes for the disks to sync up, so don't bounce the server until this process has completed. You can run a check on disk synchronisation by doing metastat | grep sync
Finally I would put the output from the command metastat -p into the /etc/lvm/md.tab file at the very end with some appropriate comments.
This can seem a very onerous task at the beginning but once your clear on steps you need to run, the whole procedure is quite straightforware.

  • Once again, iTunes thinks this is the first time I am connecting

I am not sure what exactly is going on, but today once again I noticed that when I started iTunes (9.1.1) on my laptop (win XP pro/SP3) I got a welcome message and "what's new" window. So I assume that iTunes thinks this is the first time it has started on this computer but clearly, it is not.
I reported this issue earlier on this forum but got no response (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2243137&tstart=0) so I am re-posting.
Some of the settings I care about a lot were all undone - like sync settings for my iPhone (all sync settings were unchecked), and podcast settings (keeping all episodes for some podcasts and all unplayed episodes of the others).
This is highly annoying and I want to know if there is anyone else who has observed this problem, and if so, what the resolution was.
    Thanks in advance!

Best if you try and explain what you are trying to acheive.

  • Once again, my .mac aliases have disappeared from Mail.... Arghhh! help?

Once again, with no warning, all my .mac aliases have disappeared from the dropdowns in my Mail app (OS 10.4.11). They still exist in .mac/mobile me webmail, and in Mail i'm still receiving emails addressed to them. But I can't reply to these emails with the alias, nor create new emails with aliases.
I have tried Sync-ing with the site- i recollect that has worked in the past, but now no change. i have tried adding the aliases in with commas after the primary address in Preferences (as is suggested in KB below), but it does not work- and the next time Prefs is open, they are gone. In Mail preferences, the account is listed as ".mac", which is listed in the KB as one of the correct types (the other being imap).
I use my .mac aliases a lot, and have for years. i do NOT like or want to go to .mac/me Webmail to be able to use them. i do NOT want to change them to .me addresses/aliases. I can't stand how they just randomly come and go as far as being available as dropdowns in Mail... what the heck is up with Apple? i'm paying $100 for these kinds of services (excuse me, $99) and they can't keep a few aliases available to their own app (Mail)? If they weren't so deeply embedded in my business uses, i'd ditch the whole thing.
Anyway, enuf ranting; does anyone know the solution or work-around? Nothing in the below KB worked for me, even tho it is supposed to.
    the non-helpful KB: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2296

If your aliases are disappearing after you enter them, that would indicate that your Mail preferences file has become corrupted. The only solution for that is to delete the com.apple.mail.plist file in Home/Library/Preferences, then restart Mail and setup your account(s) again.
However, before you do that, you must remove all your mail account folders that being with "IMAP-"; otherwise you'll create more problems for yourself. Those are located in Home/Library/Mail.

  • Once again less service for more money ~ Personal Web Pages being discontinued!!!

Once again I would like to thank COMCAST for being cheap and money hungry. I use my personal web pages daily. This will create a lot of work and take a lot of time to move thing to another server that I will have to pay for on top of paying for internet service with COMCAST. Way to go. This will only cost me time and money once again. Stop being so cheap!!!! Bob

Yep. I'm extremely angry about this! I have been using the web space for years in order to upload helpful files to other people on Overclock.net such as screenshots, important setup files, important Windows files that someone might have lost, zip files containing a bunch of files that someone desperately needs, etc. etc. etc. That's years of uploading, and so it's years of files! Now that's being stripped away from me. Why? This is 2015, not 1985. It's not hard to provide storage space these days. Good lord. Comcast, are you really hurting for storage space on your servers? You have stolen our money for years, so the least you can do is let us keep our web spaces. I have created 7 different accounts on my Comcast account so that I could have 7 GB of storage space, which I have used quite well over the years. So now I have to sit here downloading ALL OF MY FREAKIN' FILES, and then I have to take them to some other location! Then, I have to go and update hundreds of links on Overclock.net and hundreds of screenshots in hundreds of posts that act as ARTICLES - not just posts. If I don't do that, then I'll have people asking me every single day why my links are broken and why my screenshots aren't showing up. Comcast, you sure know how DISSATISFY your customers I hate you now. I genuinely do. You have ruined my day, Comcast. I was actually having a good day for once, until you sent out the e-mail telling all of us about this.

I am on windows 7 and I upgraded to the newest verison of firefox and now it will not open. I have removed firefox completely and uploaded it again and that did not work. I then made sure it could get through my firewall and that did not work. So my latest attempt I removed firefox 10 again and uploaded the beta version hoping that would do it and once again nothing. It will not open at all. Please help - is there a live chat or a number to talk to someone at Firefox?

I think when uninstalling you may also have to choose (tick) to delete the preferences and other personal data like the bookmarks, stored passwords etc. to erase completely. If you are installing afresh, please try right-clicking on the file and '''Run as administrator''' to install. And when uninstalling, please also make sure choose to delete all data and also manually delete any '''Mozilla''', '''Mozilla Firefox''' or '''Firefox''' from %appdata%, %localappdata% and %programfiles%. You can open a location by typing for eg. %appdata% in the '''Run''' box (Windows key + R). You may also have to check the '''VirtualStore''' folder in %localappdata%. Files in the VirtualStore can be problematic. I think a clean installation may help.

  • MDT 2012 deploy OS from USB external drive failed - need to unplug and plug it once again

We are using MDT 2012 and deploying Windows 7 using media (USB external hard drive). We can successfully deploy Windows 7 32 bit using this method but there is a problem with deploying Windows 7 64bit. This problem appears only on HP EliteBook 840. We can
boot into WinPE 64 bit and can start proper task sequence, all image is applied then after restart, before logon screen appears there is an error saying that cannot find litetouch.vbs script. After clicking ok, I can logon to Windows and there is no usb external
drive recognized. But when I unplug and plug usb drive once again it is recognized by Windows and can be used. I can see that Windows install some drivers just after plug it again
I checked BIOS looking for some USB power options - there is no such settings. And 32 bit deployment works ok. So this is not a case. Looks for me like a problem with proper usb drivers for 64 bit. I download all drivers from HP website (driver pack and
drivers only for USB 3.0). We are using make and model matching in MDT - works ok for all the rest hardware models. Any idea how to troubleshoot it?

Not sure what's going on here. Is this a USB "Flash" drive or a USB "Hard Drive". There *Is* a distinction.
I *thought* that MDT would copy itself to the c:\minint\scripts folder to continue installation.
Next time, when you see this error, Press Shift-F10 to get into a cmd.exe prompt. Can you find litetouch.vbs on any of the drives? Does the USB Drive appear?
IF in fact, the USB Drive is not appearing after the 1st reboot, then you have a problem. Why did the USB 3.0 driver not install. Check the Driver Installation Logs to verify.

  • Report is not getting refreshed after changing prompts once again?

    HI,
I am running some webi and deski reports using webi sdk also i'm handling the prompts of
    report.
Problem is that if i ran the parametrized webi or deski report then my application shows the prompt page
then i fill all the prompt for the report it shows the data for selected prompt values.
But if i once again changed prompt values it shows data of previously selected prompt values not for
the currently changed prompt values. means reports not getting refreshed.
