Setup new iPod Touch with previous backup

I have bought a new iPod Touch and wish to restore it to a back up of another iPod Touch.  I have found out that this is possible, but I want to have that new iPod sync with an iTunes library on another computer.
Is it possible for it to do so or will it say something like "You have already synced this iPod with another iTunes library and will have to restore it if you want to use it with this library."
Help pls.

Do not connect the Devices... is not advisable nor how it is done.

The Sync Process is via iTunes...

  • New iPod Touch with January Update Restore Question

    Hi,
Few days ago i bought new iPod Touch with 1.1.3 software and January Update.
When I restore it I'll lose my January Update programs ? And if that happened what can I do to get them back ?
PS. Sorry for my poor english :P
    Cheers

It was mentioned already in this thread. If you look at the package check the seriel number. If it ends with /B then that is the new model and it has the new applications that were provided in the Jaunary update already programmed into the iPod. If you restore you will not lose them.
If it ends with /A then it is an older model that required the January Update in order to get the applications on your iPod. If you restore then you will lose them but you don't need to purchase them again as your iTunes will keep track of the purchase for you.

  • Do any one know how much it is to get the new ipod touch with the camera if you trade in your old ipod touch?

do any one know how much it is to get the new ipod touch with the camera if you trade in your old ipod touch?

Sounds like you need a new battery.  I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to confirm.  Apple will replace the battery for $79.  A third-party place like the folloing may be less expensive.  Google for more places.

  • When is the new docking station going to come out for the new iPod touch with the lightning connection?

I have just got the new iPod Touch for christmas. I am now wondering when a docking station will come out for the new iPod Touch with the new lightning connection. I have not been able to find a docking station that fits the iPod Touch without having to buy the adapter(the adapter does not allow the iPod to be charged)
When will a docking station come out for the new iPod Touch?
    Olivia Davey

You would have to ask the makers of the docking stations that question. Belkin has a dock now that uses Apple's Lightning cable:
    http://www.belkin.com/us/F8J057-Belkin/p/P-F8J057
so all it basically does is provide a stand and pass through the headphone jack. There's at least one other dock here:
    http://www.thelightningdock.com/products/iphone-5-dock
If you're referring to Apple's Universal Dock, there have been no indications that they will make any new dock, though of course none of us here know their plans for future products.

  • How Do I Restore A Replacement iPod Touch With the Backup From A Previous iPod Touch?

I recently received a replacement iPod Touch because of hardware issues with my previous one. I managed to back up my last iPod Touch with iCloud, I also recall using iCloud to restore it from backup after I first updated to iOS 5. All I'm looking to do is to restore everything exactly as it was (app data etc) on my last iPod before I had it replaced. Yet, when I attempt to restore it from back up, it restores with the wrong back up.

See if the lnk given here helps:

  • How do I track an old (stolen) ipod touch if I already synced a new ipod touch with the old information without knowing it would not allow me to track my old ipod but my new one instead?

I lost my iPod touch (4th generation) over a week ago and did not think I installed the icloud on it. When I was setting up my new iPod touch (4th generation),
I saw that it automatically shows an option for icloud. That made me realize that I probably did install icloud in my old ipod. The problem is that I synced my old ipod with my new ipod on the computer. I thought if I didn't I would loose all of my old infomation. So now evertyime I use the app to find my iPod, it finds my new one. It shows only one device located under it. Is there a way I could find the old iPod? Or could I restore my new iPod and find the old one that way? I'm afraid if I restore it I would loose all my information from my old ipod.

That makes no difference in finding/tracking your lost/stolen device.
The old device will only show up in icloud.com if you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

  • How can I sync my new ipod touch with my itunes 9.2.1 itunes

Ok I have got a mac mini running  os 10.4.11 at 1.25ghz 1 gb and have a new 4th gen ipod touch I can't sync it to my itunes 9.2.1 please tell me I can get this to work without paying any more out!!!

Thanks Jim I thought I might have to upgrade software but to be honest I was looking at investing in a new Mac in the summer but wanted a cheap fix to get my thousands of tunes that i have bought from Itunes onto my new ipod touch Ironically I have a samsung Galaxy s2 I use for work which interfaces with my mac no problem... I find it very odd apple are treating there own customers in this way making me upgrade to interface with their own products!! Which after having macs for the last 20 years i am doubting my decision to carry on with my loyalty to a brand that is doing this!!
Sorry not your problem.. thanks for the advise.

  • New iPod Touch - restore from backup of (2nd gen?) iPod touch

Am buying the new iPod Touch w/additional features - camera, hi-res, quicker processor, etc. - than the (2nd) Gen Touch which I bot June 2009. Run on iMac, all software currently "up-to-date" - want to just transfer over all of my apps, music, data (within iPod apps), MobileMe links, Mail links, etc - from old device to new device. I'd also like to "wipe" the old device in order to give it to someone else without giving them access to my information. Anyone out there give me a "link" to get instructions on this? When I do my own searches in "support manuals" - I get a ton of non-applicable links....

    Backup and restore:

Erase all content and settings is covered in the manual as well as backup and restore:

  • I backed up my new iPod touch with data from my old one. This seems to have erased all the new apps that came with the new iPod. What do I do now?

I got a new iPod Touch today. I wanted to transfer all my apps and data over to the new iPod from my old one, so I restored it from my old one. Unfortunately, it seems to have erased the new apps that come with the latest iPod. What do I do to get the back?

Maybe I'm confusing apps with function. I was looking at the features on Apple's site, and it showed Voice Control, Air Print, Air Play, that sort of thing.

  • Does the new iPod touch with iOS5 come with the dual core A5 processor?

If the new iPhone 4s is able to pack a dual core A5 processor into the phone, shouldn't the iPod be able to? I wanna buy a new iPod cause mine crashes a lot but I'm not sure I want another one with just a single core processor...Did Apple announce anything at the keynote about this or something? I didn't watch it through cause it was long so I'm not sure what to expect. Thanks if you can answer it(:

From the information provided by Apple, the only differences between the new iPod Touch and the 4G released last year is the lower price and the addition of a white color.

  • New iPod Touch with grayed-out "No Wi-Fi" text in Settings

Just got a 16GB iPod Touch as a refurb. from Apple Store. I install iTunes, hook it up to my computer, follow all the instructions, and then after it's charged, disconnect it to begin using it.
First thing I do: try to set up the wi-fi. Only problem: I go into Settings and at the top, where it says "Wi-Fi" it is grayed out, and says "No Wi-Fi" next to it. In the About section, it says "N/A" for MAC address.
I have turned the unit off and on, performed a soft reset, a full restore through iTunes, and even paid the $4.95 to upgrade the OS to 3.1.2, thinking that version 2.x might be the problem.
Still... no Wi-Fi. According to Apple's site, refurbs are supposed to be fully tested and brought back up to factory spec before being shipped out. What hhappened to THIS unit? How'd it make it from China to my porch without anyone at Apple ever turning it on to see if the wireless chip in it even works?
Now I've got to go through the hassle and delay of exchanging it and waiting for the replacement to come in the mail from half a world away. Here's an idea, Apple... sell refurbished stuff that works with the guarantee that if it doesn't work or if it's defective, the customer is guaranteed a brand new unit as a replacement. Maybe that will light the fire under the techs to make sure they don't send out broken equipment as "Apple Certified."

I completed the instructions in the linked knowledge base article. It did not fix the problem. Apple has agreed to replace the unit after I ship it back to them. I will now have to wait another week before another refurbished unit arrives from half-way around the world...
I think my problem with this whole thing is that Apple specifically touts the fact that refurbished units sold through their online store are extensively tested and will work like a brand new unit. Obviously nobody even turned this unit on and went to the basic "About" screen in Settings to see if wireless was working. They would have caught the problem right away.
This is a check that should have taken 5 seconds for a technician to perform and would have saved me the disappointment of having the first iPod I've ever owned be a lemon... and saved me another week of waiting for a gizmo that I had expected to be using already. Don't sell Apple Certified refurbished stuff unless you're going to actually turn it on and make sure it works!
My other complaint... the rubber seal between screen and metal case is bulging out at two corners. It looks shoddy and cheap. I don't know who worked on this particular unit, or if this is par for the course with Apple. If the next one looks shoddy too, or has any problems, it will be my last time trying to get an Apple iPod. I got refurbished since I don't have much money - and I just can't justify spending the amount they charge for a new one. One more try Apple...

  • How do I set up my child's new ipod touch with separate apple id, so we don't share apps and music? says she is too young for her own account.

Bought my 9 year old an ipod touch last night. Tried to set it up with her own account and her own Apple Id, so we do not share apps and music. It tells me she does not meet age requirement to have her own id. Tried to set it up on computer, and my music transferred to her new ipod. Help.

You will have to set up the account in your name and supervise its use. The birthday you specify has to result in an age of at 13 years.
